Hoover Sr., 61, of Box 371-H, Eden Valley, Tyrone RD 4, was pronounced dead at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, on Wednesday, July 16, 1986, at 7 p.m. from injuries sustained in a three wheeler accident in Spruce Creek Township, Huntingdon County. He was born January l, 1925 at Birmingham, the son of the Rev. Horace E. and Maida Schrader Hoover. He was first married to Donna Rhoades, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 8, 1982 at Lancaster, he was married to Joyce Reese Poynter. He is survived by his wife, of Eden Valley, one daughter and two sons, Mrs. William R. (Susan A.) O'Brien, of Tyrone, and John S. Hoover Jr. and William W. Hoover, both of Eden Valley; six grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Maida S. Hoover, of Birmingham; a step-son, Thomas Poynter, of Philadelphia, and three step-grandchildren. He was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, which he had served as a trustee and as an ordained elder. He was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Cemetery Association, Tyrone Elks Lodge 212, Tyrone Loyal Order of Moose 25, Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and Alexandria American Legion. Throughout his life he had been an Eden Valley farmer and since 1972 had been primarily interested in the Hoover Equipment Business there. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth A. Burnette officiating. Interment will be at Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills. Friends will be received at the Getz and Searer Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. There will be an Elks Memorial Service at the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m. The Daily News, Huntingdon, Pa., July 18, 1986
