Hopkins, Formerly of Altoona, died at 9 a.m., Saturday, at his home, 851 Wylie avenue, Pittsburg. He was born in Huntingdon county sixty-seven years ago, and lived there until the breaking out of the war. He enlisted in the One Hundred and Tenth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and served through the entire war, being mustered out as captain of company H. He was wounded at Chancellorsville, from the effects of which he never entirely recovered. This wound, it is thought, caused a stroke of paralysis three months ago, and he has been gradually sinking ever since. After the war he lived in the oil regions, following the developments, as an auctioneer and commission merchant. Two years ago he moved to Pittsburg. He is survived by a wife and five children: Elisha, in North Dakota, Grant S., in West Virginia, H. H., jr., of Burnes Bros., J. J. E., of the local force of the Chronicle Telegraph, and one daughter, Alice. He was an attendant of the Presbyterian church and a member of Post 3 G.A.R. A brave soldier and a genial friend, he will be missed by a large circle of acquaintances. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of Gen. Alex. Hays Post No. 3. Interment was made in Allegheny cemetery.
