"Corky" Houck, 88 of Orbisonia, died at 5:54 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, at the Fulton Co. Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 4 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Bradley Querry officiating. Interment was made at Orbisonia Cemetery. He was born March 3, 1920 in Orbisonia, he was the son of the late Ralph B. and Laura M. (Swonger) Houck. He was married to the former Genevieve V. Shoop on November 21, 1941 at Hagerstown, MD by Rev, William Strohm. Mrs. Houck survives at their home. Mr. Houck is also survived by two daughters: Glenda R. Doyle Rothermel and her husband Don of Orbisonia and Sharon E. Querry and her husband Fred of Orbisonia. Also surviving are five grandsons: Douglas Doyle and wife, Marsha; Christopher Querry And wife, Kelly; Wendell Doyle and wife, Jennifer; Brett Querry; Bradley Querry and wife, Debra. Eleven great- grandchildren: Corey Doyle; Christian Doyle; Cameron Querry; Kyle Querry; Cassie Querry; Joshua Querry; Elisha Querry; Austin Doyle; Brock Doyle; Jessica Querry and Mahrlee Querry. Two step granddaughters: Tammy Blose and husband, Jeff and Lisa McKee and husband, Dan. Three step great-grandchildren: Katie Blose; Lauren McKee and Madison Mckee. Mr. Houck is also survived by two brothers and one sister: N. Ray Houck of Rockhill Furnace; Lucinda Mellott of Blacklog Valley Road, Orbisonia and Harry E. Houck of Orbisonia. Two brothers: Ralph and William and two sisters: Ruth Davidson and Alice Mae Senft are deceased. He was a member of the Orbisonia Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Orbisonia-Rockhill Sportsman's Assoc. and Madden-Wennick Post 518. American Legion, Rockhill Furnace. He was also a member of the NRA, VFW, Altoona and the D.A.V., Chambersburg. He was a former member of the Orbisonia Lions Club and the Orbisonia-Rockhill Homecoming Assoc. of which he was one of the original members. He was also a member of P.T. Boaters, Inc. He was a member of the Southern Huntingdon School Board during the 1960's. Mr. Houck was co-owner of Houck's Inc., Hardware Store, Orbisonia for 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy on P.T. Boats. Mr. Houck served in the same squadron as President John F. Kennedy. He received the Purple Heart and several other commendations for his military service. He was the last surviving member of his Squadron.
