Alexandria, Feb. 18. - At his residence in Alexandria, James T. Houseman died at 1 o'clock Saturday morning of diseases incident to old age. Mr. Houseman was born at Birmingham, September 23, 1837. On August 9, 1863, he enlisted in Company B, Thirteenth Pennsylvania cavalry. He was twice captured and twice exchanged. After the first capture he was in Andersonville prison for six months. On exchange his health was broken and he was furloughed home and had a two month siege of fever. He then returned to the front and was again captured and spent six months in Libby prison. After his second exchange, he served until mustered out at Raleigh, N.C., July 14, 1865. Mr. Houseman is survived by one son, Harry, at home, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Kauffman, with whom he made his home; also one brother, Samuel, of Alexandria. His wife died twenty years ago. He had been a member of the Church of the Brethren at Huntingdon for several years and in that faith he lived and died. The funeral service will be held at his home at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
