Bolinger July 28, 1913 January 15, 1999 Willard Bolinger, 85, of Salem died Friday. He was born in Hopewell, Pa. He lived in Ohio and Florida before moving to Salem in 1974. He was an accountant for B.F. Goodrich, retiring in 1971. He served a mission for his church in the White Mountains of Arizona from 1983 to 1984. He was a member of the National Honor Society, South High School in Akron, Ohio, and enjoyed gardening and table tennis. Survivors include his wife, Mildred, whom he married in 1943; daughter, Linda Taylor of Sandpoint, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. John H. MILLER, formerly Miss Rosetta COOK, of Orbisonia, died at the Black Mountain Sanitarium, in North Carolina, a few days ago, where she had been a patient since October. Death was due to tuberculosis, or lung trouble. Mrs. MILLER was well and favorably known in Orbisonia, where for many years she taught the Primary Public schools and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to John H. MILLER, a native of Fulton Co., who was a prominent Chicago attorney, and, since their marriage they have been residing in that city. In addition to the bereaved husband and two children Leonard and Helen, she is survived by her step-father and mother Mr. and Mrs John H. MATTHEWS, and one full brother, and two full sisters Jessie COOK and Mrs. Margaret DEBRAY and a number of half sisters and a half brother, all of Altoona. The deceased was aged about 38 years and for a long time had been an earnest member of the Baptist church. The remains were taken to Chicago for interment. The news of Mrs. Miller's death cast a gloom of sadness over this community. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones. Archey QUERRY died at his home in Rockhill borough New Year's morning aged about 45 years. Death was due to spinal meningitis from which he suffered about 10 days ago. Deceased's wife died a little over two years ago, but is survived by two daughters and other near relatives. Mr. Querry was a faithful employe of the E. B. T. Railroad and was a sitting Past Grand in IOOF lodge of his town. The funeral took place at Three Springs Wednesday, conducted by Revs. Bower, of Mt. Union and Vought, of Orbisonia. In the death of Mr. Querry, Rockhill borough has lost an exemplary citizen and the community at large mourn his departure. Patterson OLIVER, an aged and respected resident of Cumberland Valley, Bedford County, died on Dec. 14th, 1905, from dropsy of the heart. The deceased was the father of B. F. Oliver of Burnt Cabins, and who is well known to many of the people of Mount Union he having worked here last summer. Patterson OLIVER was born on Oct. 31, 1821, and at his death had reached a ripe old age. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church for about 30 years and had a host of friends in the community in which he resided. The funeral was held on Saturday the 15th of December, and the interment was in charge of the Order of Odd Fellows. Lawrence P. CLARK, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter CLARK, a telegraph operator for the PRR Company was run down and instantly killed at the Avon tower opposite Avon park, Girard, Ohio on Monday night, Oct. 9th. Clark had run out on the track to hand orders to the train crew. The body was taken to Niles, Ohio and prepared for burial, and later shipped to Shirleysburg his former home where the funeral was held last Friday at 11 o'clock in charge of Rev. Kennedy, and interment in the Douglas cemetery. Deceased was born Dec. 14, 1894. He was aged 20 years 10 months and 5 days. He is survived by his father and mother J. Walter and Amanda CLARK, also 1 brother and 2 sisters, James Clark of Orbisonia; Mrs. Anna SCHULTHIES of Brooklyn; and Mrs. Grace MYERS of Shirleysburg. Wm BAIR, a veteran of the Civil war died at his residence in Orbisonia early Friday morning from a complication of diseases, aged about 72 years. Mr. BAIR had been in feeble health for about a year and at times suffered intensely but he has gone where there is no sickness, pain or death. He was a good citizen and will be missed by his companion as well as by his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his wife and many other close relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the M.E. church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Carver, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in Orbisonia cemetery. Thus another soldier had answered to his last roll. Mrs. Mattie BURKETT, wife of David BURKETT, died on Sunday night, Dec. 26, at the home of her sister, Mrs. George SHOWALTER, Williamsburg. Mrs. Burkett had been in declining health for the past year and was confined to her bed for nine weeks preceding her death. She with her husband resided in Huntingdon for several years, located on Oneida street, near thecollege where Mr. Burkett has been employed. When his wife became ill and went to stay with her sister, Mrs. Showalter, about two months ago, Mr. Burkett gave up his position at the college to go and assist in nursing her. Mrs. Burkett was born near Shirleysburg in Hill Valley in 1851. Her maiden name was MCCONAUGHY. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Maggie RONK of Piney Ridge near McConnellstown; Mrs. Maggie RENINGER of McVeytown; Miss Catharine MCCONAUGHY of Huntingdon county; Mrs. Sallie SHOWALTER and Mrs. Alice BURKETT, both of Williamsburg. Mr and Mrs. Burkett resided in Mt. Union for a number of years and were well known to most of our people. In her death we feel that there has been called a splendid woman who will be greatly missed, not only by her husband but by all those with whom her life came in contact. The funeral service was held on Tuesday following her death at the home of her sister in Williamsburg, conducted by Rev. R. T. Whitely pastor of the Methodist Church, of which denomination Mrs. Burkett was a lifelong member, having joined at the age of 15. The remains were taken to the Reformed Church at Gilboa the following day and after services were held there by Rev. E. E. McKelvy of Huntingdon, assisted by the choir of the Shirleysburg Methodist Church, the remains were interred in the Reformed cemetery adjoining. Mr. and Mrs. Horace GRATZ left their home at this place Friday morning February 6th to visit their daughter Mrs. Harry ZARTMAN at Shamokin. They arrived there the same evening and after they left the trolley, they still had some distance to walk and during this walk Mr. GRATZ was overcome with heart trouble and had to be carried into the house. A physician was called but before his arrival Mr. Gratz had passed away. He had been subject to these attacks for some time. The remains were brought to this place Monday and funeral services were held from his late residence Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Martin of the M. E. Church. Mr. Gratz was born in Orbisonia 65 years ago and is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Maude ZARTMAN of Shamokin, Mrs. C. B. MILLER, of Pittsburgh; Simon Gratz, of Orbisonia and Marshall Gratz, of Pontiac, Mich., all of whom were present at funeral except Mrs. Zartman, who could not come on account of sickness. One brother Charles , and one sister Mrs. Jennie BREWSTER survive. Interment in Orbisonia cemetery. John W. RIFFLE, well known and one of the most esteemed residents of Shirleysburg, died at his home there on Thursday morning last, June 15th, at 2 o'clock, the result of a stroke of apoplexy which occurred on June 10th. Deceased was born near Hagerstown (Tuesville) Maryland, Oct. 3, 1846, and was aged 70 years all but 4 months. The family resided in Maryland until John was 10 years old, when they moved to Shirley township, this county, settling in Love Valley. Deceased was married first to Mary MORGAN, and to the first union one son was born, Emory, now a resident of Alexandria, La. The second time he was married to Martha HENRY and to the second union two children were born, one son only living, B. W. RIFFLE now of Shirleysburg. His second wife died about five years ago. Mr. Riffle was a farmer most all his life. He was also a devout member of the Methodist Church. He has many friends and his death is a serious loss to the community. Funeral was held on Saturday morning form his late home, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Myers. The remains were laid to rest in the Barton cemetery. Undertaker W. P. Dunmire. The body of Samuel RUTTER was found in the Aughwich Creek near Orbisonia Wednesday, the supposition being that he drowned therein about 3 months ago. He had been living by himself. The body is now being prepared for burial by undertaker Dunmire. Harry Scott KNABLE, aged 9 months, 3 weeks and 5 days, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam KNABLE, in Allenport, on Jan. 10, 1915. The little fellow was born Mar. 15, 1914. Death was due to whooping cough and pneumonia, terminating an illness of five weeks. The funeral was held in the Methodist church in Allenport on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Dr. T. S. Wilcox. The interment was made in the Mt. Nebo cemetery. Mrs. Ambrose PARSONS died on Saturday night at her home across the river from Mount Union, from diptheria. She had been ill for several weeks but contracted the diptheria only two days before her death. Her maiden name was MORGAN, being born in Blacklog Valley, and at the time of her death was aged 48 years. Emory MORGAN of Blacklog is a brother. Deceased is survived by her husband, a son and a daughter. The funeral was held on Monday, Rev. Carnell having it in charge, services at the house, the Palmer place, at the end of the county bridge. Interment at Salem. Lizzie COX died at her home in Mt. Union on Monday morning, Oct, 2, 1916. She was a daughter of Edward J. and Katharine (DRAKE) COX. Deceased was aged 7 years and 3 months. She was born July 8, 1909. Death came very suddenly, as she was only ill for a few days, membraneous croup being the cause. She is survivd by her parents and seven brothers and sister as follows: David, Fred; Alice, Mrs. Miles REEDER of Bucyrus, O.; Hope, Glen, Charles and Ora. She was one of a family of ten children, three of whom, including the subject of this sketch, are deceased. Fuenral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home in charge of Rev. Carnell. Interment was made at Orbisonia. Mrs. Jennie Ryder GARVER, wife of B. Frank GARVER, died at her home in Gilboa, near Shirleysburg, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1916, from a severe attack of pneumonia. She was aged 33 years, 6 months and 25 days. Deceased was born and raised near Dry Run, Franklin Co., and was joined in marriage with Mr. Garver about 12 years ago. She was an excellent woman, took great pride in her family and was loved and esteemed by many. She was brought up in the Presbyterian church, but for the past 10 years had been a steadfast member and supporter of the Dunkard Brethren church. Her sudden death was quite a shock to the entire community. It has not only brought sorrow into the home, but to her many friends, relatives and acquaintances. Deceased is survived by her husband and three young daughters; Arlene, 8 years old; Mabel, 6 years old, and Helen aged 3 years. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth RYDER, of Shirleysburg, and the following brothers and sisters: Margaret, Mrs. Chas. GROVE of Lewistown; Blanche, Mrs. Wm. ZEIGLER, of Chicago; Barbara, Mrs. George SITES, of Harrisburg. The funeral service was held at the Dunkard church in Germany valley on Sunday last, Oct. 1st. It was in charge of Rev. Samuel Norris and Rev. Geo. H. Swayne. The church was crowded to the doors with relatives, neighbors and friends. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Garver has the sympathy of the entire community in his sad bereavement. Miss Grace Lee MCLEAVY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. MCLEAVY died Sunday, Dec. 30, 1917, in New Mexico, aged about 20 years. In October last her father took her to New Mexico thinking the climate might benefit her but all to no avail. The remains arrived home Friday evening. Grace, about two years ago, contracted a severe cold from which lung trouble developed. All that medical skill and loving hands could render was to no avail, she passed peacefully away on the above date. She has gone from our midst, from mother and father, where there is no sickness, pain or death. A place is vacant in the home that never can be filled. During her illness she bore her affliction with great patience. She was a kind and dutiful daughter and was admired by a number of friends who are deeply grieved over her departure. Miss McLeavy was an active member of the Presbyterian church for years and filled various offices connected with the church and will be missed from the services where she was always in attendance until prevented by illness. She was also a graduate of the Orbisonia public schools in the class of 1914 and taught one term of school in Altoona the year following. She is survived by her parents and aged grandparents, James A. YEATER and wife and many other near relatives. Funeral services were held from the house Tuesday in charge of Rev. Kennedy and wer largely attended. Interment in Orbisonia cemetery. Orbisonia Correspondent Jesse K. CLARK, 65, of Glenwood died at 9 o'clock this morning in the Lewistown Hospital. Mr. CLARK was born in Juniata County Oct. 2, 1901, a son of the late Hugh and Clara M. PECK CLARK. He is survived by his wife, the former Susie CARNAHAN, and the following brothers and sisters: Lewis CLARK, 712 Freedom Ave., Burnham; Lee CLARK of Blairs Mills R.D., Huntingdon County; Carl CLARK of Lewistown R.D.; Mrs. Carl (Nellie) ORNER of Pottstown R.D., Montgomery County; Robert CLARK, 109 Pannebaker Ave.; Mrs. Robert (Bernice) SWISHER, 31 Ridge Ave.; Mrs. Charles (Alma) FULTZ of Belleville and Samuel CLARK of Huntingdon. Mr. CLARK was a Standard Steel retiree. Arrangements by the Barr Funeral Home are incomplete. The following had the date 12/24/1977 written in the upper margin. Burnham-Lewis M. CLARK, 80, of 712 Freedom Ave., Burnham, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday in Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 26 at 1897 in Honey Grove, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Hugh and Clara PECK CLARK. He was married twice, first to Lettie FOLK, who predeceased him, and then to Virginia SHAFFER, who survives. Also surviving are children, Mrs. Ronald (Cheryl) BOYER, McClure R.D.1; Lewis M. CLARK, Jr., 311 N. Main St., Yeagertown; Barry L. CLARK, 26, S. Mann Ave., Yeagertown; Martha J. CLARK, at home, and Jay H. CLARK, at home; brothers and sisters, Lee CLARK Blairs Mills; Carl CLARK, 141 Klondyke Dr.; Robert CLARK, 109 Pannebaker Ave.; Mrs. Nellie ORNER, 232 Shaw Ave.; Mrs. Robert (Bernice) SWISHER, 31 Ridge Ave.; Mrs. Charles (Alma) FULTZ, 41 Woodbine Rd., and Samuel CLARK, Huntingdon; and 5 grandchildren. CLARK was employed in the Rigger-Maintenance Department of the Standard Steel Works. He retired in 1962. More recently he was a custodian for the United Steelworkers Building, Electric Avenue. He was a member of the Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church, a member of the Men's Bible class, a member of the United Steel Workers' Union #1940, and a life member of the Lewistown Owl's Club Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Heller's Burnham Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronald S. McElwee officiating. Burial will be in the Lind Memorial Cemetery. The date 11/3/1979 is written in the top margin of the obituary. Lewistown-Robert F. SWISHER, Sr., 31 Ridge Ave., Lewistown, was pronounced dead on arrival at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1905 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Charles and Theodocia SUMMERS SWISHER. He was preceded in death by one daughter. He is survived by his widow, Bernice CLARK SWISHER, 31 Ridge Ave., Lewistown; a son, Robert F. SWISHER, Jr., Lewistown R. D. 2, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. SWISHER retired from the Standard Steel (foundry) in 1970 after 42 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown. The Rev. David Y. Norris will officiate. John Kenneth LEONARD, 66, of Rt. 1, Box 9, Orbisonia, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 1981 at the Southern Huntingdon Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 21, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home in Orbisonia; the Rev. Theodore E. GOULD officiated. Interment was made in the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg RD. Born July 28, 1914 in Mount Union, he was the son of John A. and Margaret (SMITH) LEONARD. He was united in marriage to Leonore V. CLARK of Mount Union on June 18, 1938 in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. LEONARD survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Mrs. Edd (Ann) BURDGE of Lewistown; Mrs. Nelson (Janet) BROWN of Burnt Cabins; Mrs. Gary (Joan) HERSHEY of Three Springs; Mrs. Michael (Carolyn) TAYLOR of Carlisle; and Spec. 4 John E. LEONARD of Fort Bragg, N. C.; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Leonard of Orbisonia and Fred LEONARD of Philadelphia; a sister Louise SCHWARTZ of Philadelphia. A sister preceded him in death. Mr. LEONARD was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of the United Steel Workers of America, local 14384; and a social member of the Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion. He retired July 1979 after 45 years at the Harbison-Walker Refractories in Mount Union. The following is from the Altoona Tribune, Jan. 15, 1952. Charles Richard MUSSER of 109 East Twenty-fifth Ave., died Saturday of bronchial pneumonia after having been ill for two weeks. He was born Nov. 26, 1875, in Huntingdon county, a son of George and Jemima (GREEN) MUSSER, and in 1899 married Miss Sarah D. SHAFFER, who died in February, 1951. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Paul N. and Samuel MUSSER of Huntingdon and Mrs. Hayes CROWNOVER of Altoona; three grandchildren, Richard and William CROWNOVER, and Mrs. Jean BOLINGER: two great-grandchildren, Joyce and Tommy CROWNOVER, and one brother, John B. MUSSER of Pittsburgh. Mr. MUSSER was a member of the Huntingdon EUB church and the B. of R. T. of Altoona. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania railroad, retiring in 1936, and had resided in Huntingdon until two years ago. Since then he had resided at the CROWNOVER home in Altoona and at the Samuel MUSSER home in Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral home, Huntingdon. "Orbisonia, Mount Union, Pa. Friday, March 6, 1998" is at the top of this clip. Roy "Putts" BOLLINGER, 79, formerly of Altoona and Huntingdon, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 1998, in Huntingdon Manor, where he had been residing. Born March 6, 1918, at Robertsdale, he was a son of the late John and Lillie (WILSON) BOLLINGER. He was married to the former Sarah Jean MUSSER on March 18, 1949, in Huntingdon. Mrs. BOLLINGER died May 10, 1991. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Mr. BOLLINGER was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 223, Huntingdon. In 1980, Mr. BOLLINGER retired from W.L. Cobb Construction of St. Petersburg, Fla. Later, he worked as a greenskeeper at the Huntingdon Country Club. A veteran of World War II, he served with Company B, 404th Engr. Combat Battalion of the U.S. Army. At Mr. BOLLINGER's request, funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon. A Huntingdon native, Mrs. S. Jean BOLLINGER, 61, of 1215 19th Ave., Altoona, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday, May 10, 1991, at her home, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 7, 1929, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Samuel C. and Hope C. (CLARK) MUSSER. She was married to Roy BOLLINGER on March 18, 1949, in Huntingdon. Surviving are her husband and her mother, both in Altoona. Mrs. BOLLINGER was of the Protestant faith. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, class of 1947. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Bruce Bardine officiating. The top of the clipping has "The Daily News" at the top. Samuel C. MUSSER, 74, of St. Petersburg, Fla. a former Huntingdon resident, died at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 1978, at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg. He had been in failing health for the past 10 years. He was born on Dec. 12, 1903, in Huntingdon, the son of Charles R. and Sara SHAFFER MUSSER. He married the former Hope CLARK on Sept. 27, 1926 in Hagerstown, Md. His wife survives, as well as one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Jean) BOLLINGER of St. Petersburg. One sister, Mrs. Helen CROWNOVER of Altoona, also survives. One brother, Paul, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg, and a life member of Both the No. 2 Fire Company of Huntingdon and the Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He was a maintenance foreman at Owens-Corning Fiberglas and had retired in 1967 after 25 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, from the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon. The Rev. C. Rayvon Hilliard will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Paul N. MUSSER, 73, a former resident of Huntingdon, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 1976, at the Shirley Home for the Aged where he had been a guest for 24 years. He was born at Johnstown on April 12, 1902, a son of Charles and Sara (SHAFFER) MUSSER. He is survived by a brother, Samuel MUSSER, St. Petersburg, Fla. and a sister, Mrs. Hayes M. (Helen) CROWNOVER, Altoona. He was of the Protestant faith. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the Peters funeral home, Huntingdon. The Rev. Harrison Price will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock and on Thursday until the hour for the services. Surviving are the husband and these children: Mrs. Ida M. LONG, Altoona. George M. JONES, Eldred, McKeen County; Mrs. Sadie CLARK, J. Marshall JONES and Charles JONES all of Mt. Union. Two sisters, Mrs. Julia SNYDER of Mt. Union, and Mrs. John KERN of ------- Mills also survive. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. CLARK, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. -------- BROUSE of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Included in the obituaries was a piece of black cardboard with gold writing. It contained a poem and appears to be something like the mortuary would distribute. The card says: In Loving Remembrance of : Mrs. Erasmus YOCUM died Feb. 14, 1895 aged 85 years, 3 months, 5 days James C. BOLLINGER, 70, of 702 Pennsylvania Ave., Huntingdon, died at 4:35 a.m. Monday, May 9, 1983 at the Mercy Hospital, Altoona. Born in Robertsdale on July 18, 1912, he was a son of John and Lillie (WILSON) BOLLINGER. He was united in marriage to the former Pearl R. COFFMAN on May 4, 1934 in Hollidaysburg. His wife survives along with two children, James B. of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Mrs. Joanne MOORE of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Roy of Huntingdon, Wilson of Alabama; and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude GREEN of Huntingdon. A daughter Shirley, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He was of the Protestant faith. A member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Huntingdon, he was a volunteer with the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company. He retired in 1974 after 38 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, from the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon, the Rev. Edward Gobrecht officiating. Born May 12, 1936, in Wells Tannery, Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Gene and Winifred STUNKARD THOMAS. She was a member of Burnt Cabins United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and organist for 34 years. She was a beautician. She was a member of the Burnt Cabins Civic Association. She married her husband, James L. MUMMA Aug. 28, 1953. In addition to her husband, surviving are two daughters, Denise K. LOCKE of Shade Gap and Renne L. WILSON of Burnt Cabins; two brothers, Melvin THOMAS of Wells Tannery and John THOMAS of Chambersburg; a sister, Carolyn SNYDER of Harrisonville; and five grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Sheldon will officiate. Burial will be in Burnt Cabins cemetery. Born Oct. 21, 1901, in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary FOGAL CRAMER. Since 1939, she was a member of Walnut Grove Church of God, Three Springs. Her husband, Orris M. BROWN, died on June 11, 1967. Surviving are 10 children: Leo and Geraldine HORNE, both of Hustontown; Freda ELLIS of Altoona; Inez BARNETT of Waterfall; Viola POLLOCK and Russell, both of Chambersburg; Janet FRAKER and Dorothy, both of Fort Littleton; Wilda MILLS of Roanoke, Va.; and Nelson of Burnt Cabins; 28 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. A son, two daughters, five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Walnut Grove Church of God. The Rev. Kern Wickware will officiate. Mrs.Mary Josephine (CRAMER) PRICE, 85, a guest of the Shirley Home for the Aged, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, 1978, at the home. Prior to entering the Home, Mrs. PRICE was a resident of Allenport. Born Sept. 21, 1893, near Shade Gap, she was the daughter of Samuel McClelland and Mary A. (FOGAL) CRAMER. She married G. Dean PRICE on Dec. 24, 1912, in Huntingdon. He preceded her in death in 1953. She is survived by two grandsons, Samuel D. of Mount Union R.D. and Richard C., of McVeytown R.D.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth BROWN, of Maddensville; a daughter-in-law, Mary B. PRICE, Mount Union R.D.; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Samuel, preceded her in death in April, 1978. Mrs. PRICE was a charter member of the Allenport United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the church and the adult women's Sunday School class, when her health permitted. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Robert D. Mrs. Sarah JONES CLARK of 18 West Halley Street, Mount Union, died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel MUSSER of 1227 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1953. She had been living in Huntingdon with her daughter for the past six months. The deceased was born Dec. 9, 1878 in Shade Valley, the daughter of Deams and Margaret (YOCUM) JONES. She was united in marriage to George M. CLARK and the couple made their first home in Shade Valley. Her husband preceded her in death on February 21, 1934. The deceased was a resident of Mount Union for 25 years and a member of the Methodist Church there. Surviving are the following children: Mae (Mrs. Harry BRUCE) of Yeagertown; Marian, (Mrs. Harry Geissinger) also of Yeagertown; Morris CLARK of Portland, Me.; Hope (Mrs. Samuel MUSSER) of Huntingdon; Nellie (Mrs. Raymond GOSS) of Petersburg; Jeanette (Mrs. William FOSTER) of Cassville; Olive (Mrs. Charles SHAFFER) of Mount Union, George CLARK of Mount Union; and Lenore (Mrs. John LEONARD) of Orbisonia. In addition to these she leaves one brother, J. Marshall JONES of Mount Union and 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Olive M. SHAFER, 74, of 119 State St., Mount Union, died at 6:40 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 1982, at her home following an extended illness. Born Aug 22, 1907 in Shade Valley, she was the daughter of George N. and Sarah (JONES) CLARK. She was united in marriage to Charles R. SHAFER, Sr. on July 16, 1926. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Charles R. Jeanette E. FOSTER, 80, of 26 Taylor Apartments, Mount Union, died unexpectedly at 7 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1989, at the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Mount Union on Sept. 20, 1909, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Sarah (JONES) CLARK. She was united in marriage with William FOSTER on March 8, 1942. Mr. FOSTER, who was a Huntingdon County sheriff, died Dec. 11, 1958. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Jeanette) SHADE, of Martinsburg, W. Va.; two granddaughters; and four sisters: Mrs. Nellie GOSS, Petersburg R.D. 1; Mrs. Hope MUSSER, Altoona; Mrs. Marian GEISINGER, Boonton, N.J.; and Mrs. Lenore LEONARD, Lewistown. She was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters: Mae BRUCE, Olive SHAFER, Horace CLARK, George CLARK, and Margaretta CLARK. Mrs. FOSTER was of the Methodist faith. A graduate of Mount Union High School, Class of 1927, and the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, in 1931, she was a member of the Harrisburg Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. She retired in 1974 as a registered nurse from Shirley Home, Shirleysburg. Prior to working at the Shirley Home, she did private duty nursing in the Trough Creek, Huntingdon and Mount Union areas. Mrs. Nellie Grace GOSS, 90, of Petersburg R.D. 2 (Logan Township), died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 1995, in the Huntingdon County Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for just two days. She had been in failing health for the past three years. Born Jan. 2, 1903, in Richvale, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late George and Sadie (JONES) CLARK. She was married to Raymond Joseph GOSS on Aug. 9, 1922, in Huntingdon. Mr. GOSS died Sept. 16, 1974. Surviving are four children: Raymond J. GOSS, Jr. of Petersburg R.D. 2; Mrs. John H. (Louise) HOFFMAN, Haines City, Fla., Mrs. Harry K. (Marian) COLLINS, Huntingdon; and Mrs. John (Doris) BAINBRIDGE, Waterford; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. GOSS was a member of the Crever Memorial United Methodist Church, Petersburg. She was also a member of Shavers Creek Grange No. 353 and the Huntingdon Homemakers Club. A life-long resident of Huntingdon County, she was educated in the public schools of Mount Union. During her life, she was a homemaker. Born Dec. 9, 1918, in Mount Union, he was a son of George M. and Sarah (JONES) CLARK. He was married to Mary KELLY of Mount Union on July 8, 1946. Surviving are his wife and son Dennis at home, and the following brother and sisters: Mrs. Harry (Mae) BRUCE and Mrs. Marian GEISSINGER of Yeagertown; Horace W. Feb. 21, 1934 George Madison CLARK, a highly respected citizen of Mount Union died at his home, 18 W. Halley Street, February 21, 1934, after an illness of five years. Death was due to a pulmonary condition and he had been confined to his home for 4 1/2 months. George Madison CLARK was the son of Samuel and Martha (LACEY) CLARK and was born at East Waterford, Pa., August 19, 1868. He was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Olive JONES, at Concord, Pa., April 25, 1899. They moved to Mount Union some years ago. Mr. CLARK attended the First Methodist Church. Surviving are the widow and nine children: George M. CLARK, Jr.; Lenore V. and Jeanette E., all at home; Mrs. Harry GEISSINGER and Mrs. Charles SHAFER, Mount Union; Mrs. Harry BRUCE, Yeagertown, Pa., Mrs. Raymond GOSS, Alexandria; Horace W. She married Harry D. BRUCE, who died in 1968. She is survived by these children: Robert H. BRUCE, Carlisle; Mrs. Harry (Betty) JONES, San Antonio, Tex.; Harry D. BRUCE, Jr., Carlisle. Later she was employed at the Lewistown Frozen Food plant. She was a member of the Yeagertown United Methodist Church and the Lewistown Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
