Kenyon of 1213 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 1968 in Lewistown Hospital. He had been in failing health and a patient at the hospital since Saturday, August 3. He was born May 28, 1903 in Henderson Township, a son of John S. and Bertha (McCartney) Kenyon. On November 22, 1924 at Cumberland, Md., he was united in marriage with Linda Eckroth. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Conpropst of Lewistown and Mrs. C. William (Lois) Lehnert of Beaverton, Ore. and four granddaughters, Audrey Ann and Shirley Kay Conpropst and Barbara Ann and Beverly Lehnert. Also surviving is a brother, E. Clair Kenyon of Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie M. Kenyon on June 15, 1964. Mr. Kenyon was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren at Huntingdon. He was a life member of the Hook and Ladder Company of Huntingdon and had been owner and operator of Kenyon's Market on Mifflin Street for a number of years. He retired in 1964. His entire life had been spent in the Huntingdon area. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery. Melvin James Benson, 61, of Three Springs, R.D.2, died Wednesday morning, October 24, 1973, at his home. Born November 16, 1911 at Three Springs, R.D., he was a son of Scott W. and Naomi (Wible) Benson. On April 8, 1933, he married Mabel G. Bachtel of Springfield Township. He is survived by his wife and these children: Fred L., Phoenixville; Merrill G. Royersford; Harold E. , Mount Holly Springs; Mrs. Vernon (Ethelda) Stydinger, Carteret, N.J. and Berlin W. and Mrs. Wendell (Viola) Glunt, both of Shade Gap. There are 16 grandchildren. On son, Jesse, is deceased. These brothers and sisters remain: Charles and Mrs. Orlen Gray, both of Orbisonia; Archie and Mrs. Freda Bair, both of Munt Union, R.D., and Mrs. Edna Schwetz, Cincinnati, Ohio. There is one half-sister, Mrs. Thelma Yingling of Wells Valley. The deceased was of the Protestant faith. During his life, he had been employed as a coal miner. Burial will be in the Chilcoat Cemetery in Cromwell Township. Mrs. Mildred S. Booher, 65, of 122 West Shirley Street, Mount Union died at 2:50 p.m., Monday, December 31, 1973 at her home. She had been in ill health for the past three years. Born August 17, 1908, at Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Michael and Mary Solo. She was united in marriage to Raymond C. Booher of Cromwell Township on April 5, 1926. Surviving are her husband and the following children; James Booher, Petersburg; Mrs. Lester (Violet) Henkes, Pine Grove Mills; Mrs. Fred (Jane) Mayfield, Pottsville; Mrs. Joseph (Linda) Tysenn, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Frank (Almeda) Solo, Pittsburg. There are 17 grandchildren, three children preceded in death. Also surviving are four brothers; Carl Solo, Frank Solo and James Solo, all of Pittsburgh; and George Solo of Yuma, Arizona. The deceased was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Orbisonia. Mrs. Booher had operated a store in Pine Grove Mills for 15 years prior to her retirement. Interment will be made in Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, R.D. Mrs. Nellie A. Zauzig, 61, of 603 Juniata Avenue, Huntingdon, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 1975 at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since December 16. Mrs. Zauzig had been in failing health for the past eight years. Born March 28, 1914 at Waterstreet, she was a daughter of Michael and Dalla (Tate) Sucic. She was married to Frank J. Zauzig who survives, along with three children, Frank J. Jr. R.D.3, Huntingdon; Richard R. R.D.1, Huntingdon and Mary Ann Z. Norris, Huntingdon. There is one granddaughter. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Thelma) Nash, Altoona and two half-brothers, Benjamin Morder, R.D. 1; Tyrone and Henry Morder, R.D. 1, Alexandria. The deceased was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She had been employed in the Huntingdon Throwing Mill and its successor, Owens-Corning Fiberglas. She retired in 1969, due to disability. Mrs Zauzig had resided in Huntingdon for the past 40 years. Burial will be in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Oleta Taylor Dalander of Long Beach, Calif., a former resident of Huntingdon, died Wednesday, February 11, 1959 at Long Beach. She had been in failing health for the past year. She was born March 19, 1914, at Three Springs, a daughter of Arthur C. and Mary Taylor. She was married to Paul M. Dalander, who is surviving. Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Taylor of Cold Springs Road, Huntingdon. There is one brother, Hilton A. Taylor of York, and one sister, Mrs. William (Margaret) Sloan of Baltimore, Md. One brother preceded her in death. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Dalander was formerly employed by the Bendix Corp., in Baltimore, Md. She left the Huntingdon area about 25 years ago. Funeral arrangements are not completed. Mrs. Olive Blanche Mentzer, Shade Gap, died Thursday, May 2, 1968 at 11:50 p.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an illness of five months. Born June 7, 1893 in Dublin Mills, Fulton County, she was a daughter of Elmer and Mary F. Starr Gutshall. She was united in marriage to Russell E. Mentzer of Shade Gap on June 5, 1915 at her home. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Cline of the Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband: these children, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Kyler, Mapleton, R.D.; Mrs. Esther Walls, Lewistown, R.D.; Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Mellott, York; Earl Mentzer, Cassville; Blaine Mentzer, Mill Creek; Jerry Mentzer, Hawaii; Miss Grace Mentzer, Shade Gap; Merrill Mentzer, with the U.S. Air Force at Rantoul, Ill.; Mrs. Donald (Flo) Scott, Mount Union; Dale Mentzer, Wilmington, Del.; 29 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death. Also surviving are a brother and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Covert, Shade Gap, R.D.; Mrs. Nora Chilcote, Rockhill Furnace and Charles Gutshall, Leesburg, Fla. She was amember of the Shade Gap Methodist Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid Society. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, R.D. Oscar M. Chilcote, 69, of R.D.3, Huntingdon, was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:50 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 1975, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He was unexpectedly stricken yesterday while working near his home. A native of Mapleton, he was born May 10, 1905 to Oliver J. and Mae (Foster) Chilcote Orr. June 19, 1926, he was married to the former Dora Eckroth in Huntingdon by the Rev. Mr. Shue. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. George (Jean) Smith, Hanover, and Mrs. Bernard (Geraldine) Flanigan, Huntingdon. There are five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Mrs. Hazel Young, Falls Church, Va. Another sister, Kathryn, is deceased. Mr. Chilcote belonged to the Twelfth Street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. He was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Huntingdon Elks Lodge No. 976; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Huntingdon Lodge No. 223, and a life member and former chief engineer of the Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Fire Company. IN 1940, he started the Ambulance Division of the former West End Fire Company. In 1945, Mr. Chilcote organized the Huntingdon County Baseball League. He assisted in the formation of the Huntingdon City Baseball League and served as its president for 10 years. He was employed in the textile industry for 36 years, first with the Susquehanna Silk Mill and Huntingdon Mill and Huntingdon Throwing Mill and later with their successor, Owens- Corning Fiberglas. In 1967, he retired from Fiberglas, where he had served as production supervisor in both the Twist and Ply and Winding Departments. Active in community affairs, Mr. Chilcote served on Huntingdon Borough Council for many years and as council president for two years. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Oscar D. Spriggle, 74, of 920 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, died at 5 a.m. Monday, May 5, 1975 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past five years. A native of New Bloomfield, he was born October 25, 1900 to Benjamin and A. Regina (Beaver) Spriggle. On December 29, 1920, he was married to the former Amber Wertz by the Rev. Mr. Swigart. His widow survives, along wih two children, O.E. Spriggle, Valparaiso, Ind. and Mrs. James (Lois) Henney, R.D.1, Huntindon. There is one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Carole) Shapiro, in England, as well as two great-grandchildren. Mr. Spriggle left five brothers and sisters, Leroy, Clearfield; Mrs. Sarah Long, Altoona; Edith, Huntingdon; Howard, Glenolden and Glenn, Harrisburg. Two brothers, Charles and Frank, preceded in death. The deceased was of the Protestant faith and attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon. He had been employed by the old Huntingdon Throwing Mill, and later by the Swartz Auto Equipment Company and the L.J. MacDonald Company. After his retirement, he was self- employed as an auto mechanic. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Ralph C. Hartman of 11 Kathmere Road, Havertown died Saturday, June 8, 1968 at 9:15 a.m. in Delaware County Hospital at Drexel Hill. He had been in failing health since 1950 and a patient at the hospital since June 5. Born September 28, 1904, in Jeannette, he was a son of Charles C. and Alice (Miller) Hartman. He married Edna C. Nail March 27, 1924. Surviving are his wife, his father of Ligonier, a son, Frederick R. Hartman of Huntingdon, a daughter, Mrs. John (Geraldine) Corbin of Canadensis and six grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are Charles A. Hartman, Tazwell, Va.; Donald S. Hartman, Catskill, N.Y.; Vance M. Hartman, Lewistown; Mrs. Jack (Alice Jean) Neal; Rio Grande City, Tex.; and Mrs. Phyllis Phillip, Catskilll, N.Y. He was of the Presbyterian faith and had formerly lived in Huntingdon, moving to the Philadelphia area in 1950. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Ralph V. Walker, 16 Birch Street, Kistler, Mount Union, died at 5:35 a.m., Friday, July 11, 1969, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since 12:30 p.m., July 10. The deceased was born April 27, 1910 in Franklin County, a son of Williiam and Mary (Carbaugh) Walker. He was united in marriage at Huntingdon on Dec. 24, 1929 to Mary Bowser. All of their married life was spent in the Mount Union Area. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Mrs. Filo(Bernadine) Campbell of Overland and Sgt. Rolan Walker, Fort Eustis, Va. Four brothers also survive: George of Lemasters, Clair of Jacksonville, Fla., Paul of Chambersburg and Don---------- Mr. Walker retired on disability at the North American Refractories Company in October, 1962, after 32 years of service. Interment will be made in the Mapleton IOOF Cemetery. Mrs. Rena C. Hoffer, 63, of Petersburg, passed away at 9:10 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 1974, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for seven hours. A daughter of Lulu (Locke) Hammond of Petersburg and the late David Hammond, she was born on December 9, 1910, in Mount Union. She became the bride of the late S. Edward Hoffer on August 9, 1928 at Petersburg. Her husband preceded her in death on January 11, 1964. Her mother and the following children survive,Mrs. Paul (Viola) Hardy of Altoona, R.D.; Robert D. of Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Anna Mae Reed of Petersburg; Mrs. Dillard (Marie) Tolley and Edward W. both of Canton, Ohio. She had 20 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Vera Brenneman of Tyrone; William Hammond of State College; Roy A. Hammond of Williamsburg; Mrs. Cecile Port, Mrs. Annabelle Foster and John Hammond, all of Petersburg. R.D.; and Mrs. Joyce Burket of Tyrone, R.D. One brother, Lester, preceded in death in July of 1973. Mrs. Hoffer was a member of the Petersburg Nazarene Church and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary to the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg. Mrs. Rhoda L. McEwen, 70, of 1125 Mount Vernon Ave., Huntingdon, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 1979, in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health for five years. Born June 21, 1908, in Walker Township, she was the daughter of Leslie G. and Florence B. (Lincoln) Smith. She married Robert E. McEwen in November, 1924, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1966. She is survived by three children: Robert E. McEwen, Jr., of Huntingdon; and Mrs. David (Twila) Hollingshead and Edward McEwen, both of Huntingdon R.D. 4. Two children, Betty Jane and Donald, preceded her in death. Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Meda Foster of Huntingdon; Doyle Smith of Huntingdon, R.D. 1; Mrs. Gerland (Lois) Miller of Williamsburg, and Gail and Jack Smith, both of Huntingdon R.D.4. A brother, John, preceded her in death. She was a member of the 12th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was also a member of the church's United Builders Sunday School class and of the United Methodist Women. She was employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas in the twist and ply department, retiring with 30 years service in 1971. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon R.D.4. A young man who would have been married this Saturday, June 7, died yesterday afternoon in J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Richard Edmund Hagie, 22, of Orbisonia, became suddenly ill Tuesday morning about midnight and was taken to the hospital at 6:20 a.m. He died at 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 1969. Hagie had planned to marry Miss Linda Snyder of Huntingdon at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday. He would have been graduated from Shippensburg State College this August and had accepted a teaching position with the Thomas Johnson School System at Frederick, Md. Born May 22, 1947 at Orbisonia, he was a son of Thomas and Anne (Noble) Hagie. Surviving are his parents of Orbisonia, a brother, Thomas Hagie, Jr., Orbisonia; two sisters, Susan and Ellen, both at home and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Corbin of Orbisonia. Hagie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Shade Valley. He had attended Southern Huntingdon County Schools and was graduated from SHC High School in 1965. At Shippensburg he bleonged to Gamma Theta Upsilon social fraternity. Interment wil be made in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Shirleysburg. Severe injuries suffered 13 days earlier in a fatal traffic accident caused the death yesterday afternoon of 37 year old Robert W. Wagner, Huntingdon R.D. 1, owner of a fleet of trucks. Wagner, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit. He suffered severe traumatic injuries at 11:04 p.m. Saturday, June 27, when the 1970 Jeep station wagon he was operating west on Route 22 crashed into an eastbound 1970 Ford pickup truck just east of Huntingdon. Mrs. Geneva E. Criswell, 55, Newton Hamilton, a passenger in the pickup was killed in the near head on crash. J. Earl Martin, 61, Box 15, Newton Hamilton, driver of the truck, was injured in the same smashup and he is still a patient in the Huntingdon hospital, in satisfactory condition. Wagner's death brings to eight the number of traffic fatalities in Huntingdon County this year. Five of the deaths have been recorded since June--?. Wagner's condition became worse at the hospital on Sunday, June 28, the day following the accident. He underwent emergency surgery on that day and he was placed in the intensive care unit where his condition remained critical. The deceased was born at Huntingdon on June 26, 1933, a son of Larkins W. and Gwendolyn (Woomer) Wagner. He was untied in marriage to Wanda Dixon at Winchester, Va. on July 6, 1962 In addition to his parents, residents of Huntingdon, R.D.1, and his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Heidi Lane Wagner, at home. One sister, Mrs. Richard (Doris) Ryms, Columbus, Ohio also survives, along with ---- Robert John Wilson, 64, Orbisonia Star Route, passed away at 6:30 a.m. , Sunday, February 2, 1975, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He had been in failing health for the past year. A son of the late George and Minnie (Booher) Wilson, he was born on July 27, 1910, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County. He was married to the former Dorothy L. Painter of Cromwell Township on March 21, 1936, in the Orbisonia Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Mr. Mellott. Surviving are his wife and two children, Dr. Robert Thomas Wilson of Haddonfield, N.J. and Susan Mae, at home. There are three grandchildren. Seven sisters and brothers also survive, Mrs. Bessie Shope, Mrs. Mamie Taylor, Mrs. Jeannette Parson, , Mrs. Elsie Ziegler and Mrs. Mae Grey, all of Huntingdon: Raymond of Mount Union, R.D., and Charles of Orbisonia, R.D. Mr. Wilson was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church of Three Springs, R.D. He was a farmer by occupation and had been a Cromwell Township supervisor for four terms. Interment will be in the Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia R.D. Mrs. Rosie Catherine Holden, 65, of Rockhill Furnace died Sunday, October 24, 1971, at 9 a.m. in the Lewistown Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 36 days. She was born at Hollidaysburg on September 19, 1906, a daughter of David and Catherine (Detwiler) Fridenbloom. She was united in marriage to John W. Holden of Orbisonia on June 20, 1928 at McVeytown by the Rev. John W. Hannawalt of the Church of the Brethren. Her husband preceded her in death December 10, 1961. Surviving are a son, Robert G. Holden of Rockhill Furnace and two grandchildren, David and Michael Holden, both of Rockhill. Two brothers ans two sisters survive: Mrs. Fannie Wilfong, Altoona; Wilson Fridenbloom, Altoona; John Fridenbloom, Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Laura Shingler. The deceased was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church, Orbisonia. She was a member of the Tuscarora Valley Grange No. 2042; the Tuscarora Farm Women, Group 2; Rebekah Lodge No. 578, Three Springs; and the WCTU. Interment will be made in Orbisonia Cemetery. Mrs. Ruth Bell Nichols, 117 Ivy Street, Edgewood, died Monday, October 16, 1967. She was the daughter of Clyde and Aline L. Bell and was united in marriage to George C. Nichols who survives along with the following children: Mrs. Ruth Wynard, Mrs. Susan Nichols and George Nichols, Jr. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Aline L. Jones. of Huntingdon and a brother, Clyde Bell Jr. of Monroeville and one grandchild. Mrs. Sadie Gagermeier, 88, of the Huntingdon County Nursing Home, died there at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 28, 1976. She had resided in the nursing home since May 20, 1974, and had been in failing health for the past year. A native of Huntingdon, she was born May 20, 1887, to William and Rebecca Jane (Megahan) Cassatt. She was united in marriage to John Gagermeier on June 24, 1924 by the Rev. Fr.James A. Tolan at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. Mr. Gagermeier preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1974. She is survived by a sister, Miss Alice E. Cassatt of Huntingdon, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. She was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon. She attended the Huntingdon public schools and her entire life was spent in the Huntingdon area. Interment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon. Seraphine Boslett of Huntingdon R.D. 3, died at 4:35 a.m. today, Friday, January 15, 1960 at her late home. She had been in failing health since June 1, 1959. She was born April 22, 1891 at Altoona, a daughter of Nicholas and Hedwig (Beck) Greiner. She was married to George L. Boslett on November 28, 1911 at St. Mary's Church in Altoona. Her husband survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Sponeybarger of Huntingdon and Mrs. Leonard (Elizabeth) Parson of Huntingdon, R.D. 2 and two sons, Francis G. Boslett of Henderson Township, Huntingdon, R.D. 3 and Capt Joseph E. Boslett, serving with the U.S. Army at Okinawa. One son preceded her in death. There are eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Monica Wilson and Mrs. Michael Luddy, both of Altoona. One brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Boslett was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Huntingdon. She was a member of the Altar Society of the church. She had been a resident of the Huntingdon area since 1930. Funeral arrangements are not yet completed. S. Seward Ott, aged 92, the oldest resident of Orbisonia, passed away at his home at 10:40 o'clock Saturday evening, July 19, 1958, after an illness of five months. He was born on September 4, 1865, in Rebekah Furnace, Bedford County, the son of William and Ellen (Riley) Ott. On December 30, 1890, he was united in marriage with Lillie May Booher at her home in Orbisonia. Officiating at the ceremony was the Rev. William Stevens, a Methodist minister. Mrs. Ott died on June 3, 1932. One son and two daughters survive to mourn his passing: Earl E. Ott of Orbisonia Star Route and Mrs. Helen Africa and Miss Lillie May Ott, both of Orbisonia. Mr. Ott was the last surviving member of his family, six brothers and sisters having preceded him in death. "Pappy" as he was known to his many friends and neighbors in the Orbisonia area, retired in 1937 after employment of more than 50 years with the East Broad Top Railroad. At the time of his retirement, he was a conductor for the railroad. Earlier in his life he had worked for the Shenandoah Valley, Lake Erie and Norfolk and Western Railroads. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen No 498, of Juniata. The deceased had been a faithful member of the Orbisonia Presbyterian Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a charter member of the Willemine Rebekah Lodge, No. 568, of Orbisonia. ( The rest of the obit is missing.dw) Stephen William Painter, 82, Rockhill Furnace, died at 4:45 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, 1978, at his home. He had been in failing health for the past six weeks. Born June 1, 1896, at Three Springs R.D., he was the son of Jacob and Blanche (Thurston) Painter. He was united in marriage to Ethel B. Potts, of Orbisonia who preceded him in death on March 4, 1975. The following children survive; S. Robert Painter, Orbisonia; Enver W. Painter, El Monte, Calif; Mrs. Ruth P. Briggs, Orbisonia; and James L. Painter, Ardsley, Eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Five sisters and six brothers preceded him in death and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Orbisonia. He was a member of the Cromwell Lodge No. 572, F. & A.M., Orbisonia; the Harrisburg Consistory and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. For 43 years he had been employed with the East Broad Top Railroad, Orbisonia and retired from the EBT in 1956, Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery. Mae W. Gray, 1312 Washington St., Huntingdon, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 1988, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of George and Minnie (Booher) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Herbert T. Grey on April 6, 1945, at Hagerstown, Md. Her husband preceded in death April 26, 1972. One stepson, Herbert Grey Jr. of Huntingdon, survives along with the following brothers and sisters: Jeannette Parsons and Elsie Zeigler, both of Huntingdon, Raymond Wilson of Mount Union, R.D., and Charles W. Wilson of Huntingdon. Two brothers and two sisters preceded in death. Mrs. Grey was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church, Three Springs, R.D. She was employed at Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon for over 20 years. Interment will be made in Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, R.D. Thelma S. Copenhaver, 26 years of age, of 1622 Third Street, Harrisburg died Thursday, December 13, 1973 at approximately 4 p.m. in Harrisburg. She was born July 1, 1947 in Huntingdon, a daughter of James H. Banks and Maude (Sollers) Banks. Surviving are her mother, of Huntingdon, a grandfather, Carl Sollers, of Harrisburg, and two children, William Copenhaver and Teressa Copenhaver, both of Huntingdon. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Margaret Morningstar, Williamsburg and a brother, James A. Banks, Roslyn. The deceased was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic church, Huntingdon. She was studying to be a beautician and had previously been employed by the Polyclinic Hospital at Harrisburg. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Thomas B. Cramer, 73, of Allenport, Mount Union R.D., died en route to J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, Friday evening, January 21, 1972 at 6:45 p.m. Cramer was the victim of a one-car accident along Route 522 in Cromwell Township 1.3 miles north of Shade Gap. Born April 19, 1898 in Shirley Township, he was a son of Samuel and Mary (Fogal) Cramer. He was untied in marriage to Dolly Barron on June 23, 1921. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Donworth (Helen) Naugle of Florida, three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Three sons and a daughter preceded him in death. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Josephine Price, Allenport; Mrs. Ruth Brown, Maddensville; Josiah Cramer, Mount Union R.D. and Harvey B. Cramer, Kistler, Mount Union. The deceased was a member of the United Methodist Church at Allenport. Cramer had served as a supervisor in Shirley Township for many years and belonged to the State Association of Township Supervisors. He was a charter member and past president of the Allenport Lions Club. During his lifetime he had been engaged in the trucking business and had operated a schoolbus for the Mount Union District. Interment will be made in the Three Springs Cemetery, Mrs. Vera P. Coffman, 63, of 1416 Washington Street, Huntingdon, died Sunday, March 28, 1971 at approximately 5 a.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient in the hospital since March 18. She was born November 12, 1907 at Three Springs, a daughter of Denny and Laura (Benson) Wible. She was united in marriage to Clair Coffman on June 25, 1930 in the Reformed Church parsonage at Alexandria. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Isabelle) Spacht, Huntingdon, and Mrs. Richard (Marian) Sprankle, Chambersburg. Four grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Coffman was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The deceased was a member of the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church of Huntingdon. She belonged to the WSCS, the WCTU and the Confer Sunday School class. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery, Alexandria. Mrs. Verna Teressa Reading of Poland Avenue and Fifty-Eighth Street, Altoona , died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1973, in Altoona Hospital, where she was admitted Jan. 2, after an extended illness. She was born July 17, 1913, in Mount Union, a daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Jacka and married John Reading, who died May 7, 1960. Surviving are two sons, Ronald with whom she resided, and Gerald of Sharpsville, six grandchildren and six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mable Chilcote, Mrs. Helen Wible and Herman of Mount Union, Mrs. Reba Pennington of Lewistown, Mrs. Mildred Jones and Howard of Elizabethtown. Mrs. Reading was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Violet V. Hall, 74, of 1615 Moore Street, Huntingdon died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, ------- 1976 at the William --------- Nursing Center, Lewistown, where she had been residing since mid-November. She had been in failing health for the past several months. Born Feb. 25, 1901 in Rockhill Furnace, she was a daughter of Cornelius B. and Susan (Rupert) Runk, both deceased. She had been married to Chester A. Hall who preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1975. Surviving are two sons, Samuel DeWitt Hall, Placerville, Calif. and C. Arthur Hall, Jr. Sylvania, Ohio, seven grandchildren; two brothers, Irv Runk, New Wilmington and Paul Runk, Blairs Mills, and a sister, Mrs. Calvin (Mae) Whitsel of Three Springs, R.D. Four sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, and the King's Daughters Sunday School Class. Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Cromwell Township. Her entire married life was spent in the Huntingdon area. Burial will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Viola M. Querry, 67, of 503 Eleventh Street, Huntingdon died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 1975 at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. She had been stricken ill less than an hour before and was taken immediately to the hospital. Born December 5, 1907 in Smithfield, Township, she was a daughter of Archie and Bertha (Gill) Hardy. On February 25, 1928 she was married to Arthur B. Querry at Cumberland, Md. The widower survives along with three children, Charles W. of R.D. 4, Tyrone; Mrs. Franklin (Carlus) Whittaker, Glen Burney, Md. and Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Whitesel, Star Route, Huntingdon. One son, Donald, passed away August 7, 1970. There are 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Querry left three brothers and a sister, Harold, Detroit, Mich; Leroy, Alexandria, Melvin, Perlack and Mrs. Cleo Sather, McConnellstown, One brother, Clair preceded in death. The deceased was of the Protestant faith. She belonged to the J.C. Blair Hospital Auxiliary and Donation Grange No 330. She had been employed in the Environmental Services Department at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, retiring January 1 of this year after 17 years of service. Mrs. Querry was educated in the public schools of Smithfield Township, and most of her life was spent in the Huntingdon area. Burial will be in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Violet L. White, 64, of 22 West Lancaster Avenue, Shillington died Monday morning, January 13, 1975, at 2:35 o'clock in the Community General Hospital at Reading where she had been a patient since Janauary 6. She was born in Mount Union, a daughter of Harry S. and Flora (Cohenour) Booher. She was united in marriage to James A. White who preceded her in death June 20, 1966. Surviving are two sons and a daughter: James White of Shillington, John E. White, Sr. of Sinking Springs R.D.6; and Mrs. Darrell (Charlotte) Foster of Lewistown. There are 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters; Donald S. Booher and Max L. Booher, both of Shirleysburg; Harry D. Booher of Whitinsville, Mass; Blair Booher of Manassas, Va. and Mrs. Ida Mae Boyer, Paoli. Mrs White had been employed as a health aide by the Berks County Home Services at Reading prior to her retirement in August 1973. Funeral services for Mrs. White were held last week at Mohnton. Walter James (Tucker) Painter, 75, of Three Springs, R.D. 2, was fatally stricken at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 1971 while at the Union National Bank in Mount Union. Born May 6, 1896 in Cromwell Township, he was a son of the late Samuel and Amanda (Jordan) Painter. He married Margaret Elizabeth Davidson of Saltillo on June 22, 1933 at Winchester, Va. His wife survives, along with the following children, Harold "Andy" Painter, Cassville; Mrs. William Esther Bennett, Hanover; Mrs. Kenneth (Vera) Baily, Elizabethtown; Donald Painter, Elizabethtown, Edwin Painter, Langhorne; Mrs. Eu-----, Mount Union; Mrs. Roger (Betty Kay) Winter, Bristol. A granddaughter, Bonnie Kay Painter, was reared in the home. Also surviving is a step-son, Richard Davidson, Rockhill Furnace; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two brothers and a sister, William Painter, Three Springs; Sylvester Painter, Lebanon; and Mrs. Blanch Kline, Huntingdon. Five brothers and one sister preceded him in death. The deceased was of the Baptist faith. During his life he had been engaged in mining and had worked with the North American Refractories, Mount Union, for 21 years. Interment will be made in Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia R.D. On October 29, 1975, Wallace Walter Taylor of 624 Fifth St., Pitcairn, husband of Ruth Taylor, father of Betty Jean Taylor, Donald Taylor, Jean McCann and Chester Rush, brother of Edna Williams, also survived by 24 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Walter Samuel Wilson of 630 Sixth Street, Pitcairn, Pa., a native of Orbisonia, died in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, October 1, 1941. Death resulted from injuries he received while at work in the Pennsylvania Railroad shops at Pitcairn. A son of George and Minnie Booher Wilson, he was born at Orbisonia on March 11, 1899. At the time of death he was aged 42 years, six months and twenty days. Members of the family include his wife, Roxie Bard Wilson, and two children, Winifred, Mrs. Donald Hamman, and Donald Woodrow Wilson, of Pitcairn. Also surviving are one granddaughter, Joanne Kay, and these brothers and sisters: Bessie, Mrs. John Shope; Mayme, Mrs. Arthur Taylor; Janet, Mrs. Charles Parson; Elsie, Mrs. Roy Zeigler; Mae, Mrs. Blair Donaldson; all of Huntingdon; Raymond Wilson, of Aliquippa; Robert and Charles Wilson of Orbisonia. Mr. Wilson was a highly respected citizen and was active in church work. He was a member of the United Brethren Church of Pitcairn. He was a kind and loving father and will be sadly missed by his family and a host of friends. Interment is in the Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, R.D. (His son's name is Donald G. Watson Mitchell, Shirleysburg Road, Mount Union R.D., died at his home on Wednesday, November 10, 1971 at 3:30 a.m. Born August 19, 1881, in Pogue, he was a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Shingler) Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Bula Rabenstine on June 4, 1908. Surviving are his wife and the following children, Mrs. George (Susan) Barr, Spruce Creek, Paul and Joseph, both at home; Donald, Tuckerton, N.J.; Mrs. Ross (Delores) Flood and Mrs. James (Mary) Derrick, both of Chambersburg. There are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Mount Union, the Men's Bible Class of the church and the Maccabees. The deceased had been engaged in farming all his life. Intement will be made in Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, R.D. Thirteen year old William Charles (Billy) Grove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel I. Grove, 1515 Oneida Streeet, Huntingdon, died Thrusday afternoon, Jan. 4, 1973 at 3:55 in Altooona Hospital of injuries received in a one car accident in Taylor Highlands, Huntingdon, on Wednesday afternoon, December 27. It was Huntingdon County's first traffic death of the new year, 1973. Billy, a Daily News carrier, had been in "Very Critical" condition at the hospital's intensive care unit since the date of the crash, surfferin multiple fractures and crush injuries. Mason, 70, of 102 East Shirley Street (rear), Mount Union died in the Lewistown Hospital, Wednesday morning, March 27, 1968. He had been seriously ill for the past two years. Born at Mount Union on January 1, 1898, he was a son of William and Anna (Parsons) Mason. He was united in marriage to Elva Smith on January 1, 1967. His wife survives. Mason; both of Mill Creek Star Route; Mrs. Helen Holder, Shirleysburg R.D.; Mrs Pauline Linn, Kistler; Paul Mason, Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Anna Zimmerman, Mount Union and Charles Robert Mason, Georgetown, Del. The deceased was a member of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union. He was a self-employed machinist and electrician. Mason was an honorary member of the Mount Union Fire Company. Interment wil be made in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Shirleysburg R.D. Willis H. Wiser of Mount Union, R.D., died in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning, March 19, 1964 at 4:45 o'clock. He had been hospitalized since March 3. The deceased was born October 25, 1912 at Blairs Mills R.D., the son of Willis R. and Frances (Shoop) Wiser. He married Mary Etta Hicks on December 8, 1934. He is survived by his wife, his mother, and the following children: Ronald L. Mount Union, R.D.; Gerald D., Morrisville; Robert, Gary, Richard, Paul, Frances and Linda, all at home. Also surviving are four grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Miss Pauline Wiser, all of Mount Union; Mrs. Eugene Cypher, Mill Creek; Mrs. Vergil Snyder, Fairhaven N.Y., and Gerald, Shirleysburg, R.D. Mr. Wiser was a member of the Otelia Mennonite Church and had worked for the North American Refractories for the past 20 years. He belonged to the U.M.C.W. of America. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Mount Union.
