We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ James Oliver Martin, a prominent Hartslog valley farmer, died very suddenly at Sioux City, Iowa, Wednesday night, October 1st, from heart trouble. Mr. Martin had gone to Sioux City about one year ago to settle the estate of a single brother, Richard B. Martin, who died there shortly before. He had only recently been home on a visit to his wife and son in Hartslog valley. His daughter, Mabel, who had been with him in Sioux city, returned to Huntingdon county the Monday previous to his death. The day before his death, Mr. Martin had not been feeling well and had sent for a physician, who gave him medical attention and thought he would be alright in a short time, but that night he died. Mr. Martin was a very successful farmer and one of Porter township's most respected citizens. He was one of the directors of the Grange Trust Company of Huntingdon, and his death was a surprise to his many friends and relatives. Mr. Martin always took an active part in everything that was for the welfare and betterment of the township and county. He was an esteemed neighbor and a kind husband and father. His death makes the fourth one for the family to occur in that city, his brothers Plummer and Richard, and his mother, who went out to visit her sons, all having taken place there. At the time of his death Mr. Martin was aged 59 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Ada Neff, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Neff, both deceased, of Neffs Mills. He was a member of Juniata Lodge No. 117, I.O.O.F., of Huntingdon. He is survived besides his wife by one daughter and one son, Mabel and John Martin, both at home. The remains were brought to his home in Hartslog valley Saturday night where the funeral took place Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Charles W. Levan, with interment in the Alexandria cemetery, where the Huntingdon I.O.O.F. conducted the service. Mrs. Ida Carrie Garner, wife of Irvin Garner, died at her home in Penn township at 3:15 o'clock this morning. She was born in Clearfield county, March 21, 1860 and was aged at the time of her death 67 years, eight months and one day. Mrs. Garner was a daughter of Philip and Adameta (Keagy) Tubbs. Mrs. Garner was a loving mother and a kind neighbor and will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends. Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband and five children, Mrs. Bertha Corcelius, of Penn township, Ernest Garner and Blair Garner, both of Huntingdon, Lewis, at home, and Mrs. Bessie Booher, of Penn township. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. William Groom, of Glenhold, Center county, Mrs. Harry Dotts, of Coalport and Mrs. Mollie Jays, of Clearfield county. Funeral services will be held at her late home, Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock and 10:30 o'clock at White Church in charge of Rev. Steffey and Rev. Irvin Brumbaugh. Willis P. Wills of 521 West Twenty-first street, Tyrone, died at his home at 11:20 o'clock Thursday night after a three weeks' illness. He was born at Clearfield on Dec. 5, 1860, a son of Daniel and Joanna (Deemer) Wills. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret (Morrison) Wills; nine sons and daughters, Forrest Wills of Port Matilta, Mrs. Stella Evans of Osceola, Mrs. Emma Duey of Tyrone, Raymond Wills of Allport, Miss Effie Wills of Detroit, Mich., Clyde Wills, Mrs. George Gills, Charles and Dewey Wills, all of Tyrone, twenty-three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. John Kelly and Mrs Thomas Robison of Port Matilda. Mrs. Grace Alice Gray, wife of Thomas Herbert Gray, died at her home, 319 Fourteenth street, on Friday morning at 6:15, after an illness of one week, from confinement and pneumonia. Mrs. Gray was the daughter of John Grubb, of Marklesburg, and Mrs. Nancy Grubb, deceased, and was born at Marklesburg. At the time of her death she was aged twenty years on the 6th of February last. She was married last January 1918. She was a member of the Reformed church and was a highly respected Christian woman. She leaves besides her husband a small babe but five days old. She is also survived by her father, three sisters and two brothers--Mrs. John Miller, of Huntingdon; Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart, at home; Miss Anna Grubb, who made her home in Huntingdon with her sister now deceased; Joseph Grubb and Samuel Grubb, both of Aitch. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, private, at the house, conducted by the Rev. D. E. Master, with interment in Riverview cemetery. February 17, 1919 Jeremiah Keith, a well known resident of Penn township, died very suddenly at the office of Dr. Koshland, of Marklesburg, Wednesday afternoon about 2 o'clock. After dinner Mr. Keith had driven in his automobile to Marklesburg to attend a meeting of the telephone people. On his arrival there, not feeling very well, he went to Dr. Koshland for some medicine and while there died suddenly. Mr. Keith was the son of James and Matilda Keith and was born at Entriken November 7, 1855. He was born and raised on a farm, was a farmer for a number of years but at the time of his death was conducting a general store at James Creek, were he lived. He was one of Penn township's most esteemed citizens and was well known throughout that vicinity. He was a good citizen and always took an active part in the welfare of that community, and was an active member of the M.E. church. Mr. Keith was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Schell, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Jane Schell, of that vicinity, and is survived by his wife and one son, Nelson S. Keith, at home, and ticket agent at Marklesburg. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister--W. S. Keith, of Mount Union; D.C. Keith, of Bellwood, and Mrs. James Houck, of Aitch. The funeral was held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the M.E. church at Marklesburg, services conducted by Rev. McGarvey, with interment at the Old Stone Lutheran church. Mrs. Sarah Gilbaugh, wife of Valentine Gilbaugh, died at her home near McConnellstown November 24, from the effects of pneumonia from which she had been a sufferer for only a few days previous. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbaugh had been residents of that town till within the last few years when they went to make their home with Mrs. Gilbaugh's son Samuel Moyer, who lives about three miles from town. Mrs. Gilbaugh made many friends where ever she went by her kind disposition. She was a member of the Reformed church and was buried from there at 1 p.m. Saturday. She leaves besides her husband, on daughter, Mrs. Jacob Hess, and one son, Samuel Moyer, also two step daughters, Mrs. William Bupp, of McConnellstown, and Mrs. Henry Guyer. Mrs. Rebecca Anna Hunter, wife of Roller H. Hunter, died at her home, 1253 Woodland avenue, Tyrone, last night at 9:38 o'clock, death being contributed to complication of ailments covering a period of three years. She was born at Houston, Centre county, on Dec. 18, 1875, the daughter of John and Mary J. Tolbert Webner and was united in marriage with Mr. Hunter on March 28, 1895. Surviving are her father, her husband and four sons, Marvin, Raymond, Howard, and Robert Hunter; two daughters, Mrs James G. Stachan and Mrs. Charles Houck, all of Tyrone; three grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. George Houmond of Wooster, O., Mrs. William Winters of Birmingham, Pa., Mrs. Harry Binton of Tyrone, Mrs. M.F. Quiggle of Pine Station, Pa., Mrs. Edward Doll of Altoona, James H. Webner of Chemung, Ill., and John Webner of Orangeville, Ill. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, in charge of Rev. E.L.Ilgenfritz, pastor of the Tyrone First Methodist church, with burial in Tyrone cemetery. Francis Elby Forshey died at his home in Grafton, Wednesday afternoon last, aged 50 years, 4 months and 4 days. He had been in ill health for years, having been hurt by a horse, and developing a fibroid tumor from the injury. Mr. Forshey was a memeber of the church of the Brethren, and was an industrious farmer and a highly respected citizen. He was the son of Anthony and Mary J. Forshey, and was born in Penn township. He was united in marriage to Miss Zelica Brumbaugh, who survives with two children--Miss Gladys and Stever, both at home. He is also survived by one brother and one sister,--T.C.Forshey, of Altoona, and Mrs. Albert Decker, of Huntingdon. Funeral services were held in the Grafton Reformed church, known as the White Church, on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was made in the cemetery at the church. Mrs. Mary Jane Snare, wife of Frank Snare, died at her home in Penn township, near Aitch, Pa., Sunday morning at 8:00 o'clock, after a lingering illness of almost ten years. For the past nine years she had been confined to her bed. She was a daughter of Samuel and Hannah Beaver, both deceased. She was born in Penn township, February 28, 1849 and was aged at the time of her death, 80 years and five days. Mrs. Snare lived in the vicinity of Marklesburg all her lifetime, where she endeared herself to all who know her. Mrs. Snare is the last member of the Beaver family to pass away. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church since early girlhood and attended regularly as long as health would permit. She was a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by her family. Mrs. Snare is survived by her husband and four children; Mrs. Bertha Liveringhouse of Marklesburg, Samuel H. Snare at home, Mrs. John S. Lynn and Mrs. James H. Grove of Penn township. Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Lutheran church at Marklesburg in charge of her pastor, Dr. A.B. van Ormer. Interment in Reformed church cemetery. Miss Mary Elizabeth Lengel, resident of Marklesburg, Huntingdon county, died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at her home there of rhuematic arthritis after a lengthy illness. She was born in Berks county on March 9, 1871, a daughter of Levi H. and Mary (Lesher) Lengel, both deceased. Surviving are three brothers: Norton F. Lengel at home, Seranus A. Lengel of Canton, O., and Harry E. Lengel of Altoona. She was a menber of the Reformed church at Marklesburg. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church in Marklesburg. Interment will be made in the Union cemetery there. James Alexander Whittaker, son of Clarence H. and Bessie C. Whittaker, died at the parents' home in South Huntingdon on Sunday evening after an illness of two weeks from influenza and pneumonia. He was born December 24, 1913, and is survived by two sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. R.P. Daubenspeck, with interment in Riverview cemetery. Mrs. Sara May Gerlock, wife of Daniel Gerlock, died at the J. C. Blair hospital, Wednesday morning. Surviving are her husband, her mother, Mrs. Jacob Hess and the following brothers and sisters: Katherine, Samuel, Leonard, Wallace, Florence, Grace and Daisy. Funeral services will be held at the Stone Church, Penn township, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. George W. Kerstetter, pastor of the Reformed church, McConnellstown. William W. Eisenhutch died at his home in Aitch, on Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock, death being due to complication of diseases. The deceased was the son of Harry and Elizabeth (Wrenn) Eisenhutch and was born on November 7, 1872. He was married to M. Ida Reeder, who survives with the following children, Harry and Clarence Eisenhutch, of Brownsville, Pa., Ralph Eisenhutch, of McKeesport and Walter Eisenhutch, of Aitch. Two brothers and one sister also survive. Reuben and James Eisenhutch, of Coalburn, Pa., and Mrs. Agnes Williams, of Clintondale, Pa. Services will be held at his late home, today, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be made in the Methodist cemetery, at Marklesburg, with Dr. A.B. van Ormer officiating. In sad but loving remembrance of Florence Lincoln Smith, who departed this life on November 14, 1918. Andrew Britton Grubb, son of Abraham and Rachel Grubb, deceased, died at his home in McConnellstown on Dec. 7, 1921. Mr. Grubb was born February 13, 1853 aged at the time of his death 68 years, 9 months, 24 days. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of McConnellstown. His wife preceeded him to the grave sixteen years ago. Mr. Grubb is survived by one sister, Mrs. E. G. Houck, of Munhall, Pa., one daughter and two sons, Gilbert Grubb, of Pitcairn, Pa., and Geraldine and Blair Grubb, at home. He was a highly esteemed resident of McConnellstown. Mr. Grubb had been in failing health for some time but was not considered serious. His daughter, accompanied by a neighbor, was ready to come to Huntingdon on the train, when they accepted an invitation to come by automobile a little after train time and were waiting for the car, when her father, who was sitting in a chair, dropped over dead. Just one year ago, to the day, and only one hour's diference, a son, who was a veteran of the World War and served in France, died in Colorado. Funeral services were held at his late home Saturday morning. Carl Prough, six year old son of Forrest and Florence Prough, died Sunday evening, December 26th, 1920, of measles and diphtheria. Services were held at the home and interment made in the cemetery at McConnellstown. Mrs. Elizabeth F. Everhart, of Entriken, died Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at her home. She was born June 14, 1878, in Lincoln township, Huntingdon county, the daughter of David and Alice (Thompson) Morningstar. She was married Sept. 3, 1895, to Matthias W. Everhart of Petersburg. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. George S. Haney of Williamsburg and Miss Anna Everhart of Harrisburg, and the following brothers and sister; Charles Morningstar of Huntingdon, George Homer Morningstar of Altoona, Philip of Entriken, Frank of Middletown and Mrs. Margaret Hickes of Williamsburg; a half brother, Robert Fair of Selinsgrove; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Martha B. Weidner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shoup of the city and wife of George Weidner of Hesston, died at the Mercy hospital at 10:20 o'clock Sunday night. She was born on March 25, 1881, at Hesston. Surviving are her husband, four daughters and three sons, Mrs. Grace Knode of New Cumberland, W. Va., Mrs. Annie Kline of Slippery Rock, Mrs. Florence McGowan of Burnt Cabins, George, Jr., of McConnellstown, Mrs. Ruth Henry of Hesston and Paul and Ralph Weidner, at home; seventeen grandchildren, her parents of the city, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Agnes Weamer, Mrs. Margaret Shoenfelt and John L. Shoup, all of the city. Funeral services will be held at the home in Hesston at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in the Reformed cemetery at Marklesburg. Aged resident dies in Huntingdon--March 28. Miss Ellie M. Robb, aged 85, died at her home in Hartslog valley yesterday morning after a brief illness. She was the oldest resident of Hartslog valley and was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian church and one of the founders of the Hartslog Valley Missionary society, taking an active part in both until the time of her death. She is survived by one brother, George W. Robb of Hartslog valley, and five nephews. Mr. Leonard Stell died at the home of his son, Charles, 304 Ninth Street, Wednesday evening. He is survived by his widow, the following children: Lawrence and Charles of Huntingdon, Harry of Hollidaysburg, two brothers and one sister; Harry of Huntingdon, James of West Virginia and Sarah Bordell of Huntingdon. Funeral services will be conducted from Dick's Funeral home, in charge of Rev. Poulson, 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made at Mill Creek. Body may be viewed up until time of the funeral. Henry Buchanan McClure, formerly of Entriken and Pittsburgh, died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. R. Ramsey, 106 Fourth street, Huntingdon, aged 69 years and 7 months. He had been confined to his bed for the past two months of heart disease, which was the cause of his death. Surviving are three daughters--Mrs. G.R. Ramsey and Mrs. H C. Mitinger, of Huntingdon, and Mrs. J.G. McAlese, of Pittsburgh. Services (private) will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in Riverview cemetery. In memory of our dear wife and mother, Hannah J. Norris, who departed this life on October the 17th, 1923. Huntingdon Girl Dies, March 7--Miss Grace Annie Hoover, aged 23, who had been employed at the Susquehanna silk mill in Huntingdon for some time, died in the J.C. Blair Memorial hospital on Tuesday from a complication of diseases. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hoover, both deceased, of Hesston and had been residing at 748 Washington street Huntingdon. She is survived by five brothers and three sisters, Bert Hoover, Carl Hoover, Chester Hoover, Walter Hoover, Martin Hoover, Mrs. Lottie Howe, Ruth Hoover and Maude Hoover. Funeral services were cnducted this afternoon from the Christian Missionary Alliance church in Hesston by Rev. A. M. Baggett of Huntingdon. Burial was made in the Grove cemetery. Miss Edna Hall died Monday morning at 6:50 o'clock at the home of Mrs. J. N. Isenberg, 1106 Twenty-fifth avenue, Altoona, after a short illness of pneumonia. She was a native of Newburg, near the city, and was employed as a clerk in the Brett store on Eleventh avenue. Deceased is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Hall, of Entriken, Pa., and the following brothers and sisters; Orin, of Glassport, Pa.; Max, a student at Dickenson college; Clyde, of Chicago; Robert, Dewey, Dorothy and Theodore, all at home. She was a member of St. Matthew's Reformed church of Entriken. Elmer Hoover, 72, of Hesston, was found dead this morning on the John Lininger property in Hesston. He had been missing since last Thursday. The body of the aged man was found hanging from a tree by a nephew, Leroy Hoover, about 7 o'clock this morning. Hoover lived with his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hess. Investigation disclosed that his death was a suicide. No cause was given. He had been in the best of spirits before he disappeared last Thursday. Mrs. Florence Smith, wife of Leslie G. Smith, died at her home in Walker township, two miles west of McConnellstown, on Thursday evening at 8:30, after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. smith became a mother about three weeks ago and a little later contracted neuralgia of the heart, which resulted in her death. She was the daughter of John Lincoln, of McConnellstown, and Virginia Lincoln, deceased, and was born near McConnellstown, and at the time of her death was aged about 32 years. She was united in marriage to Leslie G. Smith about thirteen years ago and since that time has resided on the farm. Mrs. Smith was highly esteemed in that community and a loving and affectionate wife and mother. She was a member of the Reformed church and took an active part in church and Sunday School work. She is survived besides her husband by six children, Meda, Rhoda, Gail, John, Doyle, and Irene Smith, the latter a babe of three weeks. She is also survived by her father, one brother, John Lincoln, and one sister, Mrs. Mayetta Peightal, all of McConnellstown. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from her late residence, services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. Wetzel, with interment in McConnellstown cemetery. Ida C. Stone of Entriken died at the Windber Hospital, Monday, June 17, 1929 at 12:30 o'clock following a goiter operation. Mrs. Stone has not been in the best of health for some time and was taken to the hospital about two weeks ago. Mrs. Stone was a daughter of John and Sarah Anne McCall and was born in Huntingdon County, June 29, 1874 and was aged 54 years, nine months and eighteen days. She was united in marriage to Ira Stone who preceded her to the grave several years ago. Mrs. Stone was a faithful member of the Reformed Church at Marklesburg. She was a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by her family and a host of friends. Mrs. Stone is survived by the following children: Harvey Stone of Entriken; Mrs. H.D. Morningstar of Marklesburg; Mrs. Paul Moberg of Dixonville, Indiana County, PA., and Orville Stone at home. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Reformed Church at Marklesburg with interment in the church cemetery. Tooth infection was attributed as the cause of death of Miss Lola Grace Summers, one of Altoona's popular young women, and for several years employed as a bookkeeper at the Philadelphia Drug store, who died at 6:40 p.m. yesterday at the Altoona hospital. Miss Summers had a tooth extracted about a week ago. Within a short period an infection developed, and her removal to the hospital was ordered by her physican on Tuesday. Several blood transfusions were made in attempt to save her life. Miss Summers was born in Entriken, Huntingdon County, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Summers, Entriken. She was a graduate of the Altoona High school and Zeth's Business college. Surviving are her parents, five sisters, Mrs. Paul Isenberg, Philadelphia; Mrs. Fred K. Fouse, Entriken; Mrs. A. Ross Crisswell, Marklesburg; Alice, Charlotte and one brother, Henry, at home. The body will be taken Saturday afternoon to her home in Entriken. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Marklesburg Reformed Church. Burial will be made in the family plot at Union cemetery, Marklesburg. Mrs. David B. Querry, a well known resident of Entriken was found to be cold in death by her husband when he awoke at 4:30 o'clock on Wednesday morning, death having occured sometime during the night while both slept. She had retired in her usual health. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church and was an upright christian woman all her life who set an example of right living for many. She was aged 54 years and 1 month. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons and three daughters: Melvin of williamsport, Elton of Altoona, Lloyd of near Entriken, Mrs. Fred Fay of Williamsburg, Mrs. Walter Barnett of McKeesport and Miss Stella at home; also by three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. W.W. Reed and Mrs. George Woomer of Dudley and Mrs. Archie Clapper of Martinsburg, S.W. Donelson and John S. Donelson of Entriken. Mrs. George B. Weaver of Agnes street is a niece and Professor Fouse, Homer Donelson and John D. Grove are nephews. Funeral services will be held from the late home on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Sarah, wife of ex-Associate Judge Harris Richardson, died at the home of Isaiah L. Richardson, in Penn township, who has been caring for his aged parents, on Thursday evening at 7:30, after a brief illness from pneumonia. Mrs. Richardson has been an invalid for many years and several days ago contracted the disease which caused her death. She was the daughter of Balsar and Sarah Divilbiss Hendershot and was born in Fulton county, Jan. 12, 1834, and at the time of her death was aged 86 years, 4 months and 1 day. Mrs. Richardson and her husband have lived their entire life in that vicinity, where they were well thought of by their neighbors and friends. Judge Richardson is confined to his bed from disease incident to old age and for a time his life was hanging in the balance but at this time is some better. Surviving are these children--John Richardson, of Akron, Ohio; Isaiah Richardson, of Penn township, Susanna, at home; Catharine, wife of Henry Boyer, of Penn township; Belle, wife of David Frederick, of Blair county; Martha, wife of Ellsworth Dell, of Aitch; Ida, wife of Thomas Goslin, of Aitch, and Maggie, wife of George Aimey, of Altoona. the funeral was held this Monday morning at 11 o'clock, services conducted by her pastor, Dr. VanOrmer, with interment in the Old Stone church cemetery in the valley. Mrs. Arlene Margaret Abrams, wife of Clinton Brindle Abrams, of Tyrone, died at the J.C. Blair Memorial hospital, Huntingdon, yesterday morning at 6:45 o'clock. Mrs. Abrams submitted to an operation last Thursday and was apparently improving, but late Wednesday evening she suffered a relapse and gradually grew weaker until she passed away. Mrs. Abrams was a duaghter of Thomas and Clara (deceased) Ripple and was born at Mt. Union on September 26, 1905. In March 1927 she was united in marriage with Clinton B. Abrams at Bedford, Pa. She had made her home in Tyrone since her marriage. Surviving are the husband, father, one daughter, Betty Arlene, and one sister, Mrs. Leon Awkerman, of Mt. Union. She was a member of the Columbia Avenue Methodist Episcopal church of Tyrone and the Lady Viola Rebekah lodge I.O.O.F. The body was taken to Tyrone yesterday and taken to the home of Mr. Abrams' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Abrams, 106 East Fourteenth street, Tyrone. Brief funeral services in charge of Rev. Samuel W. Strain, pastor of the columbia Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, will be held at the Abrams' home on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the funeral cortege then going to Mt. Union where further services will be held in the Mt. Union Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. Strain, assisted by Rev. Sykes Oyler. Burial will be made in Mt. Union. Avery Franklin Baker died on Sunday September 11th, at his residence near Hummel, Pa. He had been ill for a long time and death was due to complication of diseases. He was born in Lincoln township, Huntingdon county, on March 24, 1876, the son of Benjamin and Catherine (Clapper) Baker and at the time of his death was aged 62 years, 5 months and 17 days. He was a member of the M.E. church at Hunnel. He was married to Miss Mary Stapleton on June 6, 1902 who survives with the following children: Wayne Baker of Hummel, Mrs. Preston Fisher of Philadelphia; Mrs. Phyllis Litzenberger, Edgar and Avery, at home. Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Elizabeth Swanger, of Lewistown; Mrs. Margaret Treece, of Hummel; and Mrs. Goldie Beck, of Altoona. He had lived a very earnest life and enjoyed the sincere friendship of the entire community and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock from the Reformed church of Hummel, with the Rev. Rowland officiating assisted by Rev. Huyette. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Hummel. Huff's funeral service. Robert I. Bigley died at his Hummel residence on Thursday afternoon, April 6, 1939, at 2 o'clock. Death was due to apoplexy. He was the son of William and Sara (Weaver) Bigley and was born in Huntingdon county on November 11, 1864. At the time of death he was aged 74 years, 4 months and 25 days. His wife, Annie Houp, preceded him in death a number of years ago. Surviving to mourn his passing are one son, Floyd A. Bigley of Hummel, one step-son, Jesse Bigley, of Huntingdon, and one daughter, Mrs. John McNamara, of Altoona. One brother, John E. Bigley, of Cherrytown and one sister, Miss Charlotte Bigley, of Cherrytown, also survive. Funeral services will be held in the Russellville Evangelical and Reformed church on Sunday afternoon, April 9, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Roland and the Rev. Huyette, will officiate. Miss Annie Mary Brumbaugh passed away at her home at 1415 Mifflin street, early this Friday morning, October 16, 1936, at 4:30 o'clock. Death was due to injuries sustained in a fall at her home several days ago. She was born at the Brumbaugh homestead in Penn township, on March 20, 1855, a daughter of Benjamin Boyer and Elizabeth (Bechtel) Brumbaugh, both deceased. At the time of death, Miss Brumbaugh was aged 81 years, 6 months and 16 days. Miss Brumbaugh was a devout member of the Church of the Brethren and had lived at 1415 Mifflin street for a number of years. She was a kind and generous neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving relatives of her immediate family to mourn her death are six first cousins: Dr. I Harvey Brumbaugh and Otis M. Brumbaugh, of Huntingdon, Rev. Irvin B. Brumbaugh, of Brumbaugh Crossing, Miss Nora Brumbaugh, of Cassville, Mrs. Della Bechtel Jackson, of Huntingdon, and Frank Bechtel of Albany, N.Y. Short prayer services will be held at her late home at 1415 Mifflin street, on Sunday afternoon, October 18, 1936, at 2 o'clock, and further services will be held at the church of the Brethren at James Creek at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. Valentine Bush, of Marklesburg, died at his home last evening about 7:45 o'clock, following a ten day illness. Death was due to complication of diseases. He was the son of Augustus and Anna Catherine Bush and was born in Germany on May 30, 1856. At the time of his death he was aged 80 years, 4 months and 15 days. Mr. Bush came to America when nine months old and has lived in this country since that time. The deceased was married to Harriet Garner and to that union five children were born with one surviving, Mrs. Charles E. Hoover, of Marklesburg. He was later married to Maude T. Hoover, of Hesston, who preceded him in death about one year ago. He was a member of the Reformed church at Hesston. Funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Hoover at Marklesburg, at 2:30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon with Rev. Ronald Yocum officiating. Interment will be made at Acker cemetery at Hawn's Bridge. Frank Everhart, 95 years of age, died at the Huntingdon county home at Shirleysburg, Sunday, October 15, death being due to infirmities of advanced age. He was born in 1844 in Mifflin county but little is known of his kinsfolk. He was never married. For many years he had been a guest at the home at Shirleysburg and he had many friends there, because of his gentle and unassuming disposition. Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the chapel of the home and interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the farm grounds by Clark funeral service. Mrs. Susan (Schell) Donelson passed away Wednesday morning, July 31, at the home of her son, George Donelson, at Entriken. Mrs. Donelson was the daughter of Samuel and Jane (Richardson) Schell, and was born in Hopewell township, April 30, 1856, hence she was aged at the time of her death 79 years, 4 months and 1 day. She was united in marriage to Martin Donelson on December 22, 1878. Her husband preceded her in death eleven years ago. All her married life she spent in Entriken. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church at Entriken. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Homer S. Donelson and Mrs. Philip Hetrick, of Huntingdon; Mrs. Joseph Martin, of Trough Creek valley; Mrs. Samuel Taylor, Mrs. Melvin Morningstar and George R. Donelson, of Entriken; Harrison Donelson, of Altoona, and Mrs. Harvey Wright, of Monte Vista, Colorado. Two sons are deceased: Austin W. Donelson and Samuel Donelson. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: George W. Schell and Mrs. Kate Keith, of Marklesburg; Mrs. Martha Fouse, of Entriken; and R.L. Schell, of Williamsport. Funeral services will be held in the Entriken Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday morning. The funeral cortege will leave the house for the church at 10 o'clock. The services will be incharge of her pastor, Rev. Edward Hayes. Mrs. Olive May Ford, of Six Mile Run, died in the J. C. Blair Memorial hospital, yesterday, death being due to complication of diseases. The deceased was the daughter of McClelland and Cora (Bupp) Swope and was born on February 7, 1908. At the time of death she was aged 28 years. She was married to Custer Ford who survives with the following children, Harvey, LeRoy, Glen, Ruth, Dorothea, Larue and Harry, all of Six Mile Run. Her father survives at Wood. She was a member of the Christian church at Rays Cove. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Wells Valley M.E. church with interment in the Wells Valley cemetery. Huff's funeral service. Mrs. Martha Jane Fouse, a lifelong resident of Entriken, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.H. Ketterman, on Wednesday, September 25, 1935. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born near Huntingdon, on June 20, 1858, a daughter of Samuel and Jane (Richardson) Schell, both deceased. At the time of death, Mrs Fouse was aged 77 years, 3 months and 5 days. Mrs. Fouse was a member of the Reformed church of Entriken, a kind neighbor and a faithful church worker. Surviving are one son and two daughters: Herman Fouse, of Aliquippa, Pa.; Mrs. H.J. Ketterman and Mrs. W.L. Fouse, both of Entriken, Pa. Two brothers, George Schell, of Aitch, Pa.; R.L. Schell, of Williamsburg, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Keith, of Aitch, also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Ketterman home in Entriken, on Saturday afternoon, September 28, 1935, at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. J.W. Yeisley, officiating. Interment will be made in the Entriken cemetery. Huff's funeral service. Mrs. Nellie M. Gearhart, wife of Charles H. Gearhart, of 603 Fourteenth street, passed away in the J.C. Blair Memorial hospital on Sunday evening, April 16, 1939, at 8:30 o'clock. Mrs. Gearhart had been ill since Tuesday. She was born in McConnellstown on June 16, 1888 and was the daughter of the late David and Margaret (Stinson) Fraker, of McConnellstown. At the time of death she was aged 50 years, 10 months and 16 days. Mrs. Gearhart was a devout member of the McConnellstown Evangelical and Reformed church and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, of Huntingdon. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Charles H. Gearhart and one daughter, Janet, at home. One sister, Mrs. Vina F. Lang, of McConnellstown, also survives. Funeral services will be held in the Evangelical and Reformed Church at McConnellstown on Wednesday afternoon, April 19, at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the McConnellstown cemetery. Huff's funeral service. Mrs. Bertha (Wasson) Gharet, died on Wednesday morning, March 4, 1936, at her late home in Portage, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church on Friday afternoon, March 6, 1936, with interment in Riverview cemetery. Mrs. Gharet was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Wasson, both deceased. The Wassons formerly resided at 640 Fifth street, Huntingdon. Mrs. Emma Edith Greenawalt, wife of Graffius Greenawalt of West township, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.G. Lang, 1431 Moore street, on Sunday, October 15, at 10:30 a.m. Mrs Greenawalt had been sick for the past two weeks and was convalescing at the home of her parents when she was stricken by a heart attack which resulted in her sudden death. She was the daughter of M.G. and Anna (Fouse) Lang and was born in McConnellstown on July 2, 1904, being at the time of her death 29 years, 3 months and 13 days. She was a member of the Fifteenth Street Methodist Episcopal Church. She was united in marriage to Graffius Greenawalt on February 6, 1929 and since that time had been a resident of West township. She is survived by her husband, her parents and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Gertrude Smith, of Pittsburgh; Harry, of Petersburg; Carl, of Pittsburgh; Donald, of McConnellstown; Alfred, Virginia, Richard, and Jean, all at home. Funeral services will be held at the home of her parents on Tuesday at 2 o'clock p.m., conducted by her pastor, the Rev. O.B. Poulson, assisted by the Rev. J.G. Rigby. Sherman Grubb, a well-known resident of Marklesburg, passed away at his late home there on Tuesday afternoon, August 31, 1837, at 3:05 o'clock. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He was born in Huntingdon county on March 25, 1869, a son of Joseph and Rebecca Grubb, both deceased. At the time of death he was aged 68 years, 5 months and 6 days. On June 15, 1890 he was united in marriage to Maud Garner, at Marklesburg. Mr. Grubb was a faithful and devout member of the Lutheran Church at Marklesburg, and always worked for the upbuilding of his community. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Maud Grubb and two children, Mrs. Pearl Dunmire, of Marklesburg, and Earl Grubb, of Marklesburg. One brother, Isaac Grubb and one sister, Mrs. Martha Norris, of Marklesburg, and two grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Grubb home on Friday afternoon, September 3, 1937, at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. E.L. Manges, D.D., of Huntingdon, officiating. Mrs. Elizabeth Grove, widow of Daniel Grove, died at her late home near Hesston, Huntingdon county, on Wednesdy morning, November 13, 1935, at 4:30 o'clock. Mrs. Grove was a daughter of the late Abram Myers and Catherine (Garner) Myers, and was born December 10, 1857; at the time of death she was aged 77 years, 10 months and 3 days. Her husband preceded her in death a few years ago. The following children survive: Miss Alice Grove, Miss Carrie Grove and Charles Grove, all of Hesston. Also surviving are four brothers and four sisters: Milton Myers and Benjamin Myers, of Hesston; Frank Myers and William Myers, of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Martin Grove, of Hesston; Mrs. Alice Peightal and Mrs. Jane Shultz, of Huntingdon, and Miss Margaret Myers, of Marklesburg. Mrs. Grove was a consistent member of the Reformed church. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, November 16, at 10 o'clock, in the Reformed church at Marklesburg, the Rev. J.W. Yeisley, officiating. Interment in the Grove cemetery, near Hesston. Huff's funeral service. Mrs. Mary Jane Hess, died Wednesday, November 13,1935, at the home of her father, G.W. Norris of Hesston. Mrs. Hess was born March 28, 1888, the daughter of G.W. Norris and Malinda (Fisher) Norris. She was the wife of John Hess who died twenty-four years ago. She was a member of the Brethren church. Surviving are her father and mother, two children: Grace Hess Douglass, of Hesston and Joseph, of Huntingdon, two brothers: William E. Norris, of Altoona, and Jay F. Norris, of Hesston, and a grandchild, Joy Douglass. Funeral services will be held at the Norris home at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The Rev. A.M. Baggett will be in charge of the services. Interment will be made in the Methodist cemetery, Marklesburg. Mrs. Margaret Geyer Heffner, widow of Wilson Heffner, died Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock at the home of her niece, Mrs. Harry Isenberg, at McConnellstown, death being attributed to a complication of ailments following an illness of several months. She was born in Shavers Creek valley on March 12, 1865, the daughter of Henry and Ella Geyer. Surviving is one brother, Henry Geyer, of Saulsburg. The body was brought to the Homer Bechtel funeral home in Williamsburg where it may be viewed until Wednesday evening when it will be taken to McConnellstown where funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Reformed church, of which she was a member, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Roland Yocum. Interment will be in the McConnellstown cemetery. Robert Henry Hood died at his home in Hesston on Monday, January 5, 1931, after an illness of several years. He was aged 67 years, 8 months and 24 days. He was born at Marklesburg, April 11, 1863, and was a son of Robert and Mary Prough Hood. He was a well-known citizen of his community and loved by all his friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Hesston Alliance church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Rachel Russell Hood and the following children: Mrs. Carrie Fink, John H. Hood, Calvin Hood and Whitmer Hood. Funeral service will be held at the Alliance church at Hesston Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. O.J. May with burial in Marklesburg cemetery by Mortician Huff at Saxton. Mrs. Annie C. Hoover, wife of Henry Hoover and a highly respected and well-known resident of Hesston passed away at her late home there on Thursday morning, November 25, 1937, at 12:30 o'clock. Death came after an illness of six years. She was born in Hesston on December 1, 1863,a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meurits, both deceased. At the time of death she was aged 73 years, 11 months and 24 days. Surviving with her husband, Henry Hoover is one son, Linton Hoover, of Hesston, one brother, Andy Meurits, of Mount Union, and four grandchildren, Mrs. John P. Getteus, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Miss Marie Murray, of Norristown, N.J., Mrs. Royal H. Musgrove, of Rockway, N.Y., and Mrs. Kenneth Mehl, of Farrell, Pa., also survive. One daughter and one son preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the Hoover home in Hesston on Saturday morning, November 27, 1937 at 10 o'clock with the Rev. George F. Boggs, pastor of the Huntingdon Fifteenth Street Methodist Episcopal Church, of which Mrs. Hoover was a member, officiating. Interment will be made in the Grove cemetery. Huff's funeral service. Katharine Louise Hoover, small daughter of Marcellas Hoover and Elizabeth (Bickert) Hoover passed away at the Hurley home at Entriken on Friday evening, February 24, 1939, at eleven o'clock. She was born on September 11, 1935 at Huntingdon, and was aged 3 years, 5 months and 14 days at the time of death. Surviving to mourn her death are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marcellas Hoover, of McKeesport and two sisters, Mary Anne and Bernadette Marie at home. Short services will be held at Brown's funeral home, Huntingdon, on Sunday afternoon, February 26, at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Father Edmund L. Cain will read the mass. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross cemetery at Riverview. Mrs. Elizabeth Given Houck, aged 81, died Thursday morning, January 20, 1930, shortly before 2 o'clock at her late home, 311 East Eleventh avenue, Homestead, Pa., after a short illness. She was born and raised in McConnellstown, Pa., and has been a resident of this district for the past four years. She is the wife of the deceased Ross C. Houck. Mrs. Houck was a member of the First M.E. church of Homestead. Surviving are five daughters, Misses Kathryn Fay, Principal of Homeville school, Anna E., teacher in the Homeville school, and Alice R. Houck, at home; Mrs. E.T.Lake of Sulphur Springs, Fla., and Mrs. G.M. Householder of Pitcairn.; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Andrew Grubb died at Huntingdon, Pa., five years ago. Funeral services will be held at the family home, 311 East Eleventh avenue on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. Jose of the Homestead M.E. church officiating. Interment will be at McConnellstown, Pa., on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
