December 17, 1960, pg 1 & 2. Huntingdon Daily News, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. December 17, 1960, pg 1 & 2. Huntingdon Surgeon's Wife Dies Mrs. Minna Dobie Hutchison, wife of Dr. Fred R. Hutchison physician and surgeon, died at their home 863 Washington Street, Friday night, December 16, after an illness of three years of leukemia. However, she had been seriously ill only four weeks and for the past week was in critical condition. Born Minna Kathleen Dobie August 1, 1890, in Thessalon, Ontario, Canada, she was a daughter of James Barnes and Mary (Lobb) Dobie. She was educated in the high school at Thessalon and at Havergal College, Toronto. She entered the Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing in New York City in 1912 and was graduated in 1914 at the head of her class. While a student at Roosevelt, she met Dr. Hutchison who was beginning his internship in that hospital. They were married July 18, 1916, at Thessalon. Dr. Hutchison, a native of Alexandria, returned to his home county to practice and opened his office at Seventh and Washington Streets October 1, 1918. In the intervening years, Mrs. Hutchison has been a civic and community leader in Huntingdon. Possessed of an intelligent and keen mind, she proved a natural organizer and the civic groups that benefited from her work are legion. Survivors include the husband, Dr. Hutchison and one brother, Norman Dobie, Sudbury, Ontario. The Hutchisons had four children; Mary Ellen, who died May 31, 1919; Nancy, wife of Dr. Robert P. Dutlinger, Camp Hill, Harrisburg surgeon; Fred, Jr., of New Cumberland; Joyce Dobie, wife of Captain William S. Dunkle, who is stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Main. There are seven grandchildren. Mrs. Hutchison was a member of the First Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Brown's funeral home and will be conducted by the Rev. Samuel Strain and the Rev. G. Cecil Weimer.
