Saturday, February 6, 1944; p3. Thomas Jefferson Hutchison, 310 Fourth Street, Huntingdon, passed away in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital at 12:55 p.m. Friday, February 4, 1944. Mr. Hutchison had been in poor health for some time and had been a patient in the hospital for the past three weeks. He was born in West Township on August 12, 1861 the son of Redmond Hutchison and Barbara Rudy Hutchison. At time of death he was aged 82 years, 5 months and 23 days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eleanor Swope Hutchison, to whom he was united in marriage on May 9, 1907, and by one daughter, Miss Frances Hutchison, at home. Also surviving are two sisters: Miss Mary E. Hutchison and Miss Elsie M. Hutchison, both of Huntingdon, and one brother, George R. Hutchison, Alexandria. Mr. Hutchison had been a resident of Huntingdon for the past forty years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Huntingdon, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge in Alexandria. Mr. Hutchison entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Industrial School on February 24, 1905 as a guard in charge of a labor detail. He work was so satisfactory that he was promoted to the position of turnkey at the front entrance n morning detail which position he filled until his retirement in January, 1933. During his twenty-three years of service as turnkey he became one of the best known employees of the school and made many friends among visitors, officers and inmates. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Hutchison residence, 310 Fourth Street, the Rev. John T. Peters officiating. Interment will be made in Alexandria Cemetery.
