Joseph James Who Was Injured at Barree Dies at the Hospital. Joseph James, the colored man who had his right leg crushed at Barree Thursday night, and who was brought to the hospital in this city where the limb was amputated, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. He was in a weak condition when he reached the hospital and after the amputation he began to sink until he passed away. James was a resident of Huntingdon and was 23 years of age. Coroner McCartney made an investigation and decided an inquest unnecessary. The remains will likely be taken to Huntingdon for interment. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Saturday, October 28, 1899
