" John Jamison proprietor of the Iron Springs hotel at Saltillo, died Tuesday morning of last week of heart disease. He was aged 69 years. Mr. Jamison was born near Spring Mills, Centre County, whence he moved to Spruce Creek where he lived until 1875. He moved from there to the Miller farm in Clay Township. He was a successful farmer but on account of his health he retired from the farm in 1890 and moved to Saltillo, taking charge of the La Palace hotel. Later he purchase the 'Squire McVitty homestead, built an addition thereto and opened the Iron Springs hotel which he conducted until the time of his death. He kept a well-conducted house. He was twice married, his surviving wife having been Miss Catherine Carter whom he married in 1865. Thirteen children also survive him, ten of whom are married and living at Saltillo, Mount Union and Spruce Creek. Mr. Jamison was a Christian gentleman, having been a consistent member of the Baptist church for over fifty years. He lived according to his profession and was honored by his neighbors and acquaintances. The remains were interred at Saltillo last Thursday, the services being conducted by Rev. J. L. Plush.
