Donald E. Evans, 58, of Morris Township, Huntingdon County,
died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at home.
Born Nov. 26, 1941, in Franklin, he was a son of Dorothy C.
Fisher Snyder of State College and the late Walter L. Evans. On Feb. 20,
1966, at University Park, he married Cheryl K. Fry, who survives at
home.
He received a bachelor's degree in agricultural and biological
sciences in 1963, a master's degree in agricultural education in 1967, and
a doctoral degree in industrial education in 1978, all from Penn State.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1962 to 1968.
He was associate professor of Agricultural and Extension
Education at Penn State.
He was a Grange State Lecturer, a member of Delta Theta Sigma,
Epsilon Sigma Phi, Gamma Sigma Delta, Alpha Tau Alpha, Phi Delta
Kappa, Iota Lambda Sigma, Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture,
JCI Senatorship, Pennsylvania State Grange, Huntingdon County
Pomona Grange, Huntingdon County Fair Board, Pennsylvania Farm
Bureau, Pennsylvania State Farm Products Commission, Pennsylvania
Governor's Schools of Excellence Advisory Board and Pennsylvania School
Boards Association. He was also a School Board Director of Juniata
Valley School District and a School Board Director of Huntingdon County
Career Technology Center.
He enjoyed his family and new grandson, friends, farming and
international travel.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by
stepfather, W. Richard Snyder; two daughters, Tracy L. Conn of State College 
and Jennifer L. Evans of Seattle; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Koch
Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace
Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College, with the Revs. Robert M.A.L.
Miller and Janis Sloka III officiating. Private burial will be in Royer
Cemetery, Royer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Evans Family Lecture Series, Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences
Development Office, 234 Agricultural Administration Building, University

Glenn S. Maurer, 91, of Julian died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000,
at Huntingdon Manor.
Born July 21, 1908, in Martinsburg, he was a son of the late
Abraham Lincoln and Margaret Howard Maurer. On July 18, 1932, he
married Floretta M. McKendree, who died Oct. 3, 1998.
He was a self-employed stone mason, carpenter and farmer, and
he worked on the railroad.
He attended Calvary Bible Church in Alexandria.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Dillon of Austin, Texas;
four sons, Dale S. and Richard Z., both of rural Julian, Pastor Jerry L. of
Lakewood, Colo., and Pastor Robert G. of Alexandria; two sisters, Zelda M.
Smith of Lock Haven and Fern Burd of Mill Hall; a brother, Clarence of
Elyria, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Dean K. Wetzler
Funeral Home, Milesburg.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home,
with Pastors John Leatherman of Duncansville, Robert G. Maurer, Jerry L.
Maurer and Thomas Maurer, his grandson, officiating.
Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Township.
