We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Bernard Wilson FAUST, 81, of 264 Standing Stone Avenue, Huntingdon, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at his home, He had been in declining health in recent years; However, his death was unexpected. He was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Mill Creek, the son of Ira Newton Jr. and Alwilda (Fultz) Faust. He married Anna Mae Geissinger of Huntingdon June 14, 1947. He is survived by his wife, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Susan) Poe of Chambersburg; a son, David R. Faust of Huntingdon; Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Josephine Mateer of Huntingdon and Gladys Boehning of Dade City , Fla., survive. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Mr. Faust was a 50-year member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, Company B of the 120th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theatre. He worked at Owens Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon, retiring in 1977 on disability after 27 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David L. Dearing officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery. Charles Arnold SASSER, 74, of Okeechobee, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Halls, Tenn. He married Lenora (Fragassi) Harris of Huntingdon, retiree of The Daily News advertising dept. He is survived by his wife, at home; a son, Steven E. Sasser of Howe, Texas; a daughter, Cherie Harris of Fort Worth, Texas, and one granddaughter. One stepson, Michael Harris of Tioga, one step-daughter, Christine Fiscus of Laurel, Md., and two step-granddaughters also survive. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Jones of Union City, Tenn. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Sasser. Mr. Sasser was a Korean Conflict veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW in Sherman, Texas, the Moose Lodge in Gary, Ind., and the Merchant Marines. He was a pipeline welder by trade and had resided in Okeechobee for the past 11 years. Interment was made in Halls. Tenn Alice R. (Stouffer) WALKER, 83, of 410 Second St. Huntingdon, died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Born Aug. 3, 1918, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Gertrude (Gardner) Stouffer. She married James Edward Walker, June 16, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., by the Rev. Charles Wakeman. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1978. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Betty) Brindle of Rockville Md.; Mrs. Charles (Emma Jane) Smith of Hyattsville, Md., and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Godard of Williamsport, as well as by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One brother, Benjamin Stouffer of Johnstown, and one sister, Georgia Landis of Central City, survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Irene Walker Jan. 17, 2001, two great-grandchildren, one sister and three brothers. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon. She attended Johnstown public schools and was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. She had lived at her residence in Huntingdon since 1939. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Coleman officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp. Charles L. BARNETT, 93, of the Morrison Cove Home, Martinsburg. formerly of Saxton, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Morrison Cove Home following an extended illness. Born Aug. 20, 1908, in Saxton, he was the son of the late Chester and Lenna May (Snyder) Barnett. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Pauline (Keith) Barnett of Wadsworth, Ohio, and four nieces. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Gable , Ruth Lundquest, Ora Foor, and one brother, Ralph Barnett. Mr. Barnett attended the First Church of God in Saxton. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the 629th Tank Destroyer Batallion in the European Theatre. He was a member of VFW Post 4129 and American Legion Post 126, both of Saxton. During his life he worked for the Huntingdon, Broad Top and East Broad Top railroads and at the U.S. Post Office in Akron, Ohio, retiring in 1970. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, R.D., with the Rev. John Robinson officiating. Valetta M. TAYLOR, 88, of 502 Florence Ave. Avalon, Allegheny County, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan, 3, 2002, at her home. Born June 25, 1913, in Trough Creek, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Netie (Saylor) Wilson. She married Robert James Taylor, who preceded her in death in 1949. She is survived by one daughter, E. Jane Taylor of Avalon, Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Gladys Wright of Orbisonia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Wilson of Cassville, and a sister, Carmen Lenore Markey of York. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church and, later in life, a visitor of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, where she gave 30 years of service in the winding department. She was a lifelong resident of the Trough Creek and Cassville area, moving to Huntingdon later in life. She took great pride in her family's country farm heritage and spent many hours telling stories of farm life and educating her grandchildren in the art of county cooking and crafts. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Don Henderson officiating. Interment will be made in Cassville Cemetery. Walter W. "Bull" SIMPSON, 87, of Walker Twp., formerly of Huntingdon, died at 9:04 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at his residence. His death was unexpected. Born Sept. 29, 1914 in Smithfield Twp., he was the son of the late Walter William and Barbara Jane (Minch) Simpson. He married Geraldine M. "Pood" Morningstar Dec. 16, 1945, in Huntingdon. She preceded in death April 6, 2000. Mr. Simpson is survived by four daughters and three sons. They are: Barbara Bergeron, of Paradis, La.; M. Sharon (Simpson) McConaughey, of Huntingdon, R.D. 3; Donna (Simpson) Strait, of Huntingdon, R.D. 1; Shirley Zerbe Simpson, of Huntingdon, R.D, 2; Robert Simpson, of Wiliamsburg; Victor W. Simpson, of Huntingdon, R.D. 1; and Walter W. Simpson Jr., of Huntingdon, R.D. 3. There are 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren surviving. Three brothers, Charles, Kenneth and James, and three sisters, Helene, Louise and Catherine, precided him in death. One grandson also preceded him in death. Mr. Simpson attended the Nazarene Church. He was educated in the Smithfield Twp. Schools and attended Huntingdon High School. he was self-employed as a house painter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater of operations, attaining the rank of corporal. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards and spending time with his garage buddies. Funeral services will be held at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, Monday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard J. Harter officiating. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, R.R. 1, Walker Twp. Carl Edward ERGLER, 71, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Canter, Danville. Born June 24, 1930 in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Carl Frederick and Gertrude Cecelia Lilly Ergler. On June 18, 1954, he married Mary Ellen Eckley, who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa J. Bates, of Belin N.J.; two sons, Samuel J. Ergler, of Port Matilda and Timothy J. Ergler, of Honey Brook, N.J. Four grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary C. Rupert and Elizabeth M. Ergler. He was a 1948 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He received a bachelor at arts degree from Juniata College in 1964 and a masters of education degree from Bloomsburg University in 1971. He was an elementary teacher at Radio Park School, retiring in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. He was a former member of the Centre Squares and the Elks Country Club. He enjoyed flowers, grandchildren and his friends. A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Philip Bender officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Mildred Louise (Taylor) COLLINS, 76, of James Creek, R.D. 1, died at 8:58 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at her residence. She had been in failing health for the last three years. Born Oct. 22, 1925 in Calvin, she was the daughter of Hayes Taylor and Ellen (Grager) Taylor, who both preceded her in death. She married Wilber T. Collins in 1947 in Hagerstown, Md. He survives at their home. Mrs. Collins is survived by two sons, Robert W. Collins and Wilford A. Collins, Both of Walker Twp., and two grandchildren survive. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Evelyn (Taylor) Greenland and Dalbert Taylor, both of Calvin; Paul, Phyllis, Mary and Murble Taylor, all to Huntingdon; Lois Taylor, of Orbisonia; Jane (Taylor) Greenland and Ellen (Taylor) Hann, both of Three Springs; Rachel (Taylor) Park, of Newark, Del.; and Fred Taylor, of Mt. Union. Four siblings preceded her in death. They are John Taylor, Elda (Taylor) McClain, Beulah Taylor and Alberta Taylor. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Saxton. She attended the Locust Grove public schools. During her life, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and housekeeping. Funeral services will be held at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10:00 a.m. with Mr. Gary Peters officiating. Interment will be in Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek. Ollie C. "Tina" BROWN, 76, of 613 Moore St., Huntingdon, died at 12:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. She was born June 29, 1925, in Martinsburg, W. Va., the daughter of the late George E. Cookus and Mabel Mae (Bartley) Cookus. She was reared in the home of her step-father, Jack Purdy, who also preceded her in death. She married Kenneth E. Brown Jan. 28, 1953, at the Huntingdon County Courthouse. She is survived by her husband, at home, one daughter, Rosemary (Purdy) Yocum of Kent, N.Y., and three stepchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Forrest E. Cookus, and two stepbrothers, Robert and William Purdy. Mrs. Brown was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Auxiliary to the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Auxiliary to the Frank P. Hommon Post 24 of the American Legion, both of Huntingdon. She attended Huntingdon public schools and was employed most of her working life as a waitress at Simpson's and Grubb's Diner. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Lou Zannino officiating. Interment will be made in White Church Cemetery, Penn Twp., Hesston. Amon H. "Buck" Flasher, 64, of 39 High Street., Mt. Union, died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a five-month-long illness. Be was born Dec. 5, 1937, in Cromwell Twp., Huntingdon County, the son of the late Sheldon Kirk Flasher and Florence (McConaughey) Flasher Derr. He married Dolores R. Walker Dec. 15, 1956. He is survived by his wife, at home; five daughters; Karen R. Riley of Mt. Union, Judy M. Grubb of James Creek, Brenda D. McCartney of Mt. Union and Suzanne M. Long of Mt. Union; a son, the Rev. Stanley A. Flasher of Watertown, N.Y., and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, George Flasher of Cedar Crest, Mt. Union; Frank Flasher of Three Springs and Arthur Flasher of Elizabethtown, and five sisters, Myrtle Yarnell of Petersburg, Edna Secrest of Enola, Virginia Bernard of Michigan, Donna Barthlow of Shippensburg and Mary Brennan of Fayetteville. Mr. Flasher attended the New Life Fellowship Church of God, Mt. Union, R.D. 1. He retired from Bonney Forge, Mt. Union, after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the New Life Fellowship Church of God, with the Rev. Mary Jane ROSENBERRY, 74, of Myers Avenue, McConnellsburg, died at 10:34 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Fannettsburg, she was the daughter of the late Gibert Anderson and Janet Amelia (Foreman) Rosenberry. She is survived by two sons, Fred Leab of Three Springs and Gilbert Gress of St. Thomas; two daughters, Janet Mackey and Patricia Orr, both of Mercersburg; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. John (Addie) Glunt of Fort Littleton, and a brother, William Rosenberry Menyon of Pittsburgh also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Rosenberry. Mrs. Rosenberry was a member of the McConnellsburg Presbyterian Church. She was retired from the Fulton County Medical Center's dietary dept., where she had given 28 years of service. She was an active member of the Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Chambersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with the Rev. Rick Cepris officiating. Interment will be made in the Neelyton-Pine Grove Cemetery, Neelyton. Alverta L. (Bird) MATTHEWS, 37, of Walton Manor, Saxton died unexpectedly at 5:51 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002 in Broad Top City. Born Sept. 9, 1964, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of John W. and Carol (Holmes) Neuder of Saxton R.D. She is survived by her parents, a maternal grandmother, Alverta L. Holmes of Saxton, and two daughters, Megan Lee Gamble and Chelsi Fawn Gamble. She is also survived by four sisters; Regina Spargo of Saxton, Deborah Weyandt of Claysburg, Carol Gamble of Broad Top, R.D., and Jamie Wilson of Dudley. Ms. Matthews was a member of the Church of God Tabernacle, Saxton. She was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School Class of 1982. She was primarily a homemaker she enjoyed painting and ceramics. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Church of God Tabernacle, Saxton, with Revs. Guy Sines and Lanny Hoover officiating. Interment will be made in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, R.D. Thomas A. FULCOMER, 59, Dillsburg, and formerly of Latrobe, Greensburg and Huntingdon, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born May 24, 1942, in Latrobe, he is survived by his wife, Marian (Corey) Fulcomer, and three children; Thomas M. Fulcomer, of Camp Hill; Julie F. Wiley, of Lawton, Okla.; and Jill R. Fulcomer, at home. A brother, William Fulcomer, of Newton Square, and a sister, Kathleen Jarosek, of California, also survive. He is also survived by three grandchildren. A brother, Larry Fulcomer, preceded him in death. Mr. Fulcomer was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of the American Correctional Association and the Pennsylvania Prison Warden's Association. A graduate of Derry Area High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in guidance and counseling at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was a former speech therapist in the Greater Latrobe School District from 1964-1969. Mr. Fulcomer began a long career in corrections as director of education at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Greensburg in 1969. Four and one-half years later her was named superintendent at Greensburg. Under his leadership, Greensburg became the first state correctional facility in the nation to be newly accredited under the standards of the National Commission on Accreditation for Corrections. Mr. Fulcomer remained at Greensburg and was appointed as superintendent at SCI Huntingdon in 1983. In 1990, he was named deputy commissioner for the Western Region. In that position he was responsible for the oversight of nine correctional institutions. He was deputy secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Western Region. Jeffrey A. Beard, the secretary of corrections, said that "Tom will be missed and his absence felt by all 15,000 departmental employees. Without question he was the most universally liked employee within the department. His experience, competence and friendship are irreplaceable." A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard P. Waldron as celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Philip C. "Flick" NORRIS, 87, of Marklesburg, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a brief illness. Born Jan. 9, 1914, in Hesston, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Catherine (Widner) Norris. He married Geraldine R. Isett Sept. 24, 1938, at the Old Stone Church in Marklesburg. She preceded him in death May 9, 1991. He is survived by a daughter, Geneva R. Norris of Amherst, Va. Three sisters, Olive Garner of Huntingdon, Harriet McCall of Hesston, R.D., and Lillian Hurley of Petersburg, survive, as well as two brothers, Donald E. Norris of Everett and Homer S. Norris of Huntingdon, R.D. 3, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Mr. Norris was a member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marklesburg. He served on the Marklesburg Borough Council and was a member of the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company. He drove ambulance and was active in organizing dinners and fund-raisers. He worked for the Huntingdon Grocery Co. for 27 years as a warehouse supervisor and retired as a custodian for the Huntingdon Area School District in 1978, after eight years of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Interment will be made in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Marklesburg. Anna Allean YOUNG, 97, of the Morrison's Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Saxton, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the home, following an extended illness. Born June 28, 1904, in Dudley, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Hannawalt) Hetrick. She married Seibert A. Young Aug. 26, 1930, in Chesterton, Ind. He preceded her in death May 29, 1988. She is survived by one brother, Robert Lee Hetrick of Winter Haven, Fla. Three brothers, William, Samuel and John Hetrick, and a sister, Margaret Isenberg, preceded her in death. Mrs. Young was a member of the Saxton First Church of God. She was primarily a homemaker, Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 9, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with the Rev. John Robinson officiating. Interment will be made in Everett Cemetery. Lisa A. MITCHELL, 37, of Huntingdon, R.D. 3, Box 47D, died at 4:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1964, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Fay and Sherry (Snare) Mitchell of Huntingdon, R.D. 1. She is survived by her parents; her companion, John A. Weaverling, Huntingdon, R.D. 3; a daughter, Kylie R. Myers, Huntingdon, R.D. 3, and her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Mitchell of Belleville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Courtney A. Myers, and a brother, Dennis L. Mitchell. Ms. Mitchell attended the church of the Nazarene in McConnellstown. She was a graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1982. She had been employed by Minitab Inc. of State College for the past 18 years, most recently in the financial collections office. She enjoyed hiking and camping. Courtney A. MYERS, 13, of Huntingdon, R.D. 3, Box 47D, died at 2:14 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. She was born April 28, 1988, in Huntingdon, R.D. 1, and Lisa A. Mitchell. She is survived by her father and step-mother, Teresa L. (Smith) Myers; maternal grandparents, Fay and Sherry Mitchell of Huntingdon, R.D. 1. paternal grandparents, Ray and Ruth Myers of Huntingdon, R.D. 1; maternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Mitchell of Belleville, and her mother's companion, John A. Weaverling of Huntingdon, R.D. 3. She is also survived by a sister, Kylie R. Myers of Huntingdon, R.D. 3. Courtney attended the Church of the Nazarene in McConnellstown. She was an eight grade student at Huntingdon Area Middle School, where she participated in cheerleading and girls' softball. She had been involved in the Huntingdon Community Center gymnastics and girls' basketball programs and had attended the Carole Thompson School of Dance, Huntingdon. She enjoyed four-wheeling, dirt track racing, swimming and music. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Revs. Thomas and Verna Cahill officiating, assisted by the Rev. David Benfer. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, R.D. 1. Father Paul M. THOMAS, 89, of Patton, died Jan. 6, 2002, at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. Born April 8, 1912, in Patton, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Yahner) Thomas. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Lesnak of Hollidaysburg and Nancy Meadows of Johnson City, N.Y., as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Fred, James and John Thomas and by three sisters, Joan, Dorothy and Rose. Father Thomas was ordained May 14, 1942. After graduating from Carrolltown High School and St. Francis College in Loretto, he was a door-to-door salesman, but always had the idea of becoming a priest. He completed almost 19 years as pastor of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union, where members of the parish and friends in the community have paid tribute to him with "hats off to an A-1 priest, loved by all." He came to Mount Union in 1967. He served as an assistant to St. Patrick's Church, Gallitzin, and went on the Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, as an assistant pastor. His first church was St. John's Axosta. His main objective had been to direct people to heaven. He had the idea to compose a mineographic hand-out for his parishioners that became the basis of the pamphlet, "My Ticket to Heaven." Millions of copies have been made. He officially retired in 1986. He was presented the Prince Gallitzin Cross in 1997, one of the highest honors the church of the Altoona- Johnstown Diocese can bestow. A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Committal was made in the church cemetery. Dale G. He was born Nov. 28, 1935, in Clay Twp., Huntingdon County, the son of the late Russell and Mary (Park) Peterson. He was married to the former Mildred P. Shehan April 28, 1956, at the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton, R.D. He is survived by his wife, at home; A son, Alan Peterson, HCR 75, Shade Gap, and two grandchildren. Two brothers, Duane Peterson of Martinsburg, W. Va., and L. Guy Peterson of Plymouth, Calif., and two sisters, Dolores Watkin of Chambersburg and Geraldine Harrison of Plainview, Neb., survive. A sister, Eleanor Barrick, preceded him in death. Mr. Peterson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, where he served as assistant Sunday school teacher, deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the Three Springs Lions Club and Patriotic Order of Sons of America. He retired as manager of the Three Springs branch of Unitas Bank in 1998, after 35 years of service. She was born April 6, 1965, in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late John and Florine (Ramsey) Brant. Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Mount Union Area High School, Class of 1983. She worked most recently for Containment Solutions, Mount Union, having given 10 years of service. Prior to Containment Solutions, she worked a number of years at McDonald's in Huntingdon. She was currently serving as a leader of girl Scouts of America, both in Mount Union and Allenport. CLAPPER, 82, of 220 Donahoe Manor, Bedford, formerly of Dudley, died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 9, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, following an extended illness. Born July 28, 1919, in Saxton, he was the son of the Late William and Bertha (Weaver) Clapper. He was united in marriage to June S. Spencer in 1946. He is survived by his wife, at Donahoe Manor; a son, William Clapper of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one granddaughter. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Clapper was a member of the Dudley United Methodist Church. He was a 1936 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. METZ, 86, of Orchard Crossing, Tyrone, R.D. 4, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Tyrone Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Spruce Creek Twp., Huntingdon County, the daughter of the late George and Harriet (Sunday) Bell. She married Boyd D. Metz Nov. 23, 1935, in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death March 27, 1988. She is survived by a son, Boyd D. Metz Jr. of Spring Hill, Kan. EVANS, 93, of Huntingdon, formerly of Ebensburg and St. College, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at UPMC Lee Regional Hospital, Johnstown. Born Jan. 6, 1909, in Lonia, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Esther (Molnar) Toth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanton J. Evans. She is survived by seven children; Gomer D. Evans, Ebensburg; Mrs. William (Ruth) Stormer, Ebensburg; Mrs. Robert (D. Jean) Aitken, Ocala, Fla.; Raymond Evans, Mt. He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Jacobs, Todd Twp., Huntingdon County, the son of the late Jules and Olive (Hooper) Stoner, He was united in marriage to Evelyn "Mitzie" Hooper April 30, 1949, at the United Brethren Church, Hagerstown, Md., by the Rev. Teeters. He is survived by his wife, at home; two daughters, Debby Miller of West Decatur and Sharon Jenkins of Somerset; Four grandsons and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Wayne Stoner, and sister, Freda Cook, both of Todd, also survive. Mr. Stoner was of the Protestant faith. He attended Robertsdale High School and served on the USS Bennett, a destroyer, in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. Born Aug. 4, 1902, in East Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Mary (Parks) O'Donnell. She married Harry M. Hockenberry Sept. 16, 1925. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1975. She is survived by the following children: Harvey M. Hockenberry of Orrstown; Fred F. Hockenberry of Willow Hill; John Hockenberry of Fort Loudon, Velma Runk of Chambersburg, Esther Helm of Fannettsburg. He was born June 28, 1955, the son of Florence Spriggs of McConnellsburg and the late William Spriggs. He is survived by his wife, Tina Spriggs of Mount Union; two sons, Patrick Beaston and Jonathan Spriggs, both of Mount Union, and two daughters, Jacquelin Spriggs Potter of Harrisburg and Jenny Spriggs of Mount Union. Six grandchildren also survive. He is survived by six brothers; Ronald Davis, Harrisburg; William Spriggs, McConnellsburg; Terry L. Spriggs, Fayetteville; Donald R. Spriggs, McConnellsburg; Dennis Spriggs, Harrisburg, and Larry Spriggs, Mount Union; Five sisters, Janet Harris, McConnellsburg; Patricia Moore, Mount Union; Dorothy Austin, Kennesau, Ga.; and Linda Burke, McConnellsburg. Born Sept. 15, 1925, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Harry Dean and Rhoda (Ryan) Esworthy. She married Harry M. Reitz Jan. 26, 1945. She is survived by her husband, at home; Five daughters; Barbara J. Hambright of Cleveland, Ohio; Shirley A. Wagner and Debra K. Howe, both of Petersburg; Peggy L. Harman of Alexandria, and Donna M. DeHoff of St. College, as well as 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A sister, Grace Wolf of York, also survives. She was preceded in death by an infant son and three sisters, Helen Young of York, Ethel Nixon McCaleps and Jean Hackenberry, both of Lewistown. BURKE, 88, of the Morrison's Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Dudley, died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the home following an extended illness. Born Nov. 20, 1913, in Wood, he was the son of the late James Tobin and Charlotte (Lemin) Burke. He married Mary Louise Howells Dec. 12, 1942, in Cumberland, Maryland. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1981. He then married Ruth Howells, who survives at the Morrison's Cove Home. A son, Thomas J. Burke, and daughter, Mrs. Mark (Wanda) Miller, both of Saxton, R. D., survive, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, He is also survived by a brother, Dick Burke of Greensburg, and a sister, Mary Catherine Whitt of Latrobe. He was preceded in death by a son, Cletus J. Burke Jr., and six brothers and sisters. Mr. Burke was a member of the Dudley United Methodist Church, where he served as janitor and trustee for many years. He was also very active in the addition of the church's social hall. He was also a member of the AFL-CIO Laborers Union, Johnstown. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations. He was a coal miner of 20 years and retired from construction in 1968. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. Phyllis J. LIEBAL, 92, formerly of Spruce Creek, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor. She was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Union Furnace, a daughter of the late Wilson and Virginia (Miles) Foster. She was twice married, first to John T. Clapper who preceded her in death. She then married Charles Liebal Oct. 5, 1963. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1981. Surviving are five daughters: Adelene Grubb of Danville; Shirley Brown, of Spruce Creek; Erma Lou Ticconi of Mount Union; Patti DeLancey of Titusville, Fla., and Lola Keith of Lebanon, and three sons, John Carper of Spruce Creek, Robert Carper of Altoona and Dennis Carper of Williamsburg. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Charlotte Isenberg of Huntingdon, also survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Philip; a daughter, Yvonne; a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Liebal was of the Methodist faith. She retired as a packer from U.S, Envelope, Williamsburg, in 1975 after 12 years of service. She was previously employed by Big Yank in Tyrone and the Spruce Creek Post Office. (Struble) HAWN, 61, of Petersburg, R.R. 2, Box 178, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital, St. College, following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Bellefonte, the daughter of the late Rodney and Emma (Loesch) Struble. She married William A. Hawn June 21, 1958, in Lemont. She is survived by her husband, at home; one son, William J. Hawn of Petersburg, R.D. 2, and two daughters, Sandra E. Hutton of Petersburg, R.D.2, and Caulene A. Sanford of Erie, as well as by seven grandchildren. One sister, Linda Chesney of Petersburg, R.D., and three brothers, Rodney Struble of Atwater, Calif., and Raymond Michael Struble and Charles Struble, both of St. College. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter. Mrs. Hawn was a member of the Manor Hill United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, R.D. 2, where she was involved in various church- oriented activities and where she was a certified lay pastor, Sunday school teacher and member of the Tri Mu-Do For Others Class. She attended St. College public school and was a graduate of St. College High School., Class of 1958. She was a partner in the the family dairy farm for many years, worked at Mineral Springs Bottling Co., Petersburg, as a secretary and was most recently working at Family Foot Care of State College as a receptionist. She had lived at her current address for the past 32 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed flowers and bird watching. She lived her life doing for others. GARMAN, 84, of 172 East High St., Elizabethtown, formerly of Mount Joy, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 16, 2002, at his home, following a brief illness. Born in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Charles O. and Mary (Hamman) Garman. He was twice married, first to Hazel M. (Mellott) Garman, who preceded him in death in 1989. His second wife of 11 years, Ethel M. (Schaffer Flowers) Garman, survives. He is survived by one son, Millard E. Garman of Mount Joy; two daughters, Lona A. Forrester of Elkton, Md., and Marjorie M. Brosious of West Chester; Four stepsons; Glenn L. Flowers Jr. and David C. Flowers, both of Landisville, Dennis E. Flowers of Columbia and Jeffrey C. Flowers of Lancaster, and two stepdaughters; Donna M. Altimus of Reno, Nev., and Sharon R. Dauberman of Manhiem. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren. A sister, Erma E. Garman of Huntingdon, survives as well. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry E. Garman. Mr Garman was a member of the Church of God-Pentecostal, Elizabethtown, where he served on many committees, the church board and helped build a new church building. He was a member of the Lancaster branch of the AFL-CIO Union and served in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1982 from Pennsylvania Mallable, Landisville, after 17 years as a core maker. Previously, he worked five years for the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown, as an LPN attendant. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. John Lewis JENKINS Sr., 63, Box 1371, Hill Valley, Mount Union, R.D. 1., died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a serious illness. Born July 29, 1938, in Cromwell Twp., Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Robert P. and Ellenoir C. (Hancock) Jenkins Buffington. He was twice married, first to Hughette (Brenon) Jenkins of Hill Valley, Mount Union, R. D. 1. He married Darlene Wilson April 19, 1985. He is survived by his wife, at home; two sons, John L. Jenkins Jr. of Mount Union and Bruce A. Jenkins of Mount Union, R.R. 1, and four stepchildren, Jay H. Whisler II of Port Royal, Judy Dalton and Diana Stoner, both of Honey Grove, and Daniel Whisler of Licking Creek Two brothers, Robert C. Jenkins of McVeytown, R.D. 1, and Joseph L. Jenkins of Niles, Ohio, also survive. Mr. Jenkins spent 25 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1981 as a chief warrant officer. He had several tours of Europe, Germany and Greenland and served in Vietnam. Helen (Porter) NORRIS, 76, of 3120 Emmet Ave., Huntingdon, died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood. She was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Hesston, the daughter of the late Stewart and Edna (Hoover) Porter. She married David Paul Norris Sept. 7, 1944, in York. He preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1990. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Kimberly N.) McGeehin III, of Newtown Square. Two sisters, Dorothy Hoover of Hesston and Betty Cresswell of Overland Park, and one brother, Allen Porter of Overland Park, survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Hollis Norris, April 11, 1964. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Snyder, and two brothers, Merle "Bill" and Roy Porter. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born April 11, 1961, in Cambria County, he was the son of Mary (Fogle) Hendrix, who resides in Cumming, Ga. He is survived by his companion, Karen S. Leonard, at home; two sons, Robert T. Byers Jr. of Huntingdon and Kenneth D. Wagner of Mapleton, R.D., and one daughter, Angela Wagner of Mount Union. One granddaughter survives as well. Guy Adonald GALLAGHER, 86, of Tamarack Drive, Denver, Pa., died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Denver Nursing Home, Denver, Pa. Mr. Gallagher was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Burnt Cabins. Huntingdon County, the son of the late Denton Blair and Francis Naomi (Mills) Gallagher. He was married to Catherine (Mills) Gallagher of Sept. 27, 1935. Mrs. Gallagher survives at their home in Denver. He is also survived by one son and one daughter, Alfred K. Gallagher, Denver, and Beverly Jean Best, Keene, N.H.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Nanci (Nannie) Hess of Shade Gap. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert, and two sisters, Grace Houck and Marie Downes. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Broomall. He was a former member of the Path Valley Lions Club and the IOOF Lodge in Fort Littleton. In his early years he had operated a trucking business. From 1954 until 1966, Mr. Gallagher owned and operated Gallagher's Motel at the Willow Hill Exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Charles Monroe "Juge" GRIFFITH, 71, of 212 E. 12th St., Tyrone, formerly of Huntingdon County, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Altoona Hospital Center of Nursing Care, Altoona. He was born Feb. 23, 1930 in Meyersdale, the son of the late Charles Edward and Arminta Doretta (Tressler) Griffith. He married Lorraine T. Showalter Feb. 10, 1961, in Winchester, Va., with the Rev. Clark officiating. He is survived by his wife at home, and by the following children; Mrs. Robert (Sandra Hoover) Freeman of Fayetteville; Clem "Buck" Weaverling of Cottonwood, Ala.; Mrs. Ed (Linda Clippinger) Petron of Wells Tannery; Mrs. Robert (Sherry) Ingram of Bald Eagle; Mrs. Randy (Valorie) Merritts of Alexandria; Mrs. James (Rebecca) Ryan of Abbeville, Ala.; and Mrs. Roger (Rhoda) Hall of Alexandria. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Three brothers, Junior Griffith of Hempfield, Md.; Jimmy Griffith of Baltimore, Md., and Oscar Griffith of Hopewell, and four sisters; Betty Zelanko of Kearney, Elizabeth Donaldson of Hopewell, Carol Weaver of Hopewell and Shirley Boushard of Jacksonville, Fla., survive as well. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Griffith. Mr. Griffith was a member of Shermans Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Shermans Valley, and the Williamsburg Church of God, Williamsburg. He served a brief tour in the U.S. Army, from 1948 to 1949. He was stationed at Camp Stoneman, Calif, and served as a cook for the 153rd Transport company. He had obtained Eagle Scout status and continued to serve for a long number of years as a Boy Scout leader. He had been a coal miner along-side his father in the Broad Top mines. He was later a supervisor at Employment and Training in Huntingdon and worked in the maintainence department at the Huntingdon County Courthouse. He had been a lifetime resident of Huntingdon Cobits.ems ounty until moving to Tyrone in 1999. He loved fishing in the south and fishing for catfish in the Susquehanna River. PRICE, 44, of Huntingdon, R.D. 4, Box 321, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, as a result of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident. He was born July 7, 1957, in Huntingdon, the son of David T. and Onie (McCool) Price, who survives at their Oneida Twp. residence. He married Barbara A. Bilger Oct. 13, 1989, in Alexandria. He is survived by his wife, at home, and four sons, Justin D. Price, R. Ryan Wentz, Ryan M. Price and James D. Price Jr., all of Huntingdon. He is also survived by one sister, Toni Cooper of Baytown, Texas. Mr. Price was a member of the Word of Life Fellowship, Huntingdon, R.D.2. He was a lifetime resident of Oneida Twp. who attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1975. He was self-employed as a contractor in the Huntingdon area. He had formerly coached Little League baseball, was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jesse William MARSHALL of 3984 Burket Road, Warriors Mark, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his home. He was 76. Mr. Marshall was born March 27, 1925, in Eden Valley, the son of Edith (Bell) and Jesse L. Marshall. He was married to Janet (Cox) Marshall on Oct. 21, 1950 at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. Mrs. Marshall survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Don (Karen M.) Stuart, Pittsburgh; and two sons, Jesse Craig Marshall and Rodney L. Marshall, both of Warriors Mark. Three grandsons also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother. He was a member of the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Tyrone Masonic Lodge No. 494 F&M, the Huntingdon County Shrine Club. the Altoona Consistory Jaffa Temple, the Tyrone BPOE Lodge No. 212, and the Warriors Mark Franklin Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Marshall was a lifelong dairy farmer in Warriors Mark, retiring in 1990. He was a graduate of the Warriors Mark High School. He was a Warriors Mark Twp. Supervisor for 25 years and was on the Franklinville Cemetery Board. He served in the U. S. Navy from March 4, 1943 until Nov. 11, 1945 on the USSR-9 Submarine. Mr. Marshall enjoyed being in the woods, hunting and being with his family. Born Friday, Dec. 18, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Antoinette (Aruffo) Scoppa. She married George E. "Scratch" Lockard Nov. 28, 1958, in Williamsport. He preceded her in death July 4, 1987. She is survived by two sons. Timothy J. Lockard of Robertsdale, and two grandchildren. One sister, Doris DiPalo, and two brothers. Samuel Scoppa and Joseph Scoppa Jr., all of Williamsport, survive as well. She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Scoppa. Olive McCONAUGHEY, 83, of Green St. Village, Apt. 129, Mt. Union, died a 10:23 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. She had been in failing health. Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Orbisonia, she was the daughter of the late Van and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Varner. She married Walter D. McConaughey, who preceded her in death June 2, 1964. "Bull" RITCHEY, 67, of 304 16th St., Huntingdon, died at 12:52 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Orlanda J. and Anna (Peightal) Ritchey. He married Dixie Lou Harbat Aug. 24, 1962 at the 15th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He is survived by his wife, at home; four sons, William M. Ritchey II, Randall E. Ritchey, Courtney T. Ritchey, all of Huntingdon, and Michael J. Ritchey of Selinsgrove, and two foster daughters, Mrs. Robert (Connie) Rhodes and Jody Hayes. Two Grandchildren, six foster grandchildren and five foster great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Walters and Catherine Jones. Mr. Ritchey was of the Protestant faith. He was currently serving at president of the Standing Stone Creek Hunting and Fishing Association. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon, where he held several offices; the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntingdon, and was a life member of the Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Company. He served in the U.S. Navy from November 1957, to March 15, 1962. He retired from the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon in 1991, as dietary supervisor. He graduated from Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1953, was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and had lived at his current home for the past 26 years. She had been in failing health for the past two months. Born April 17, 1910, in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Lapato) Shomo. She married Vaughn Raymond Border in Oakland, Md., with the Rev. J.E. Johnson officiating. The couple had been married for over 37 years when he preceded her in death July 2, 1965. Christine Lee SWINDELL, 36, of 2029 Mountain Chapel Road, Breezewood, died at 5:28 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Pennknoll Village, Everett. She was born in Bedford Friday, April 23, 1965, the daughter of Harold and Connie Lou (Creps) Rush of Everett, who survive. She married John Swindell July 12, 1986. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Brunner, at home, and two daughters, Robin Allen of Holland, Pa., and Susan Lewis of Sebring, Fla. Four grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Brunner was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. She worked as a bookkeeper of the Fred Bayer Company in Huntingdon. He was born Dec. 27, 1936, the son of Raymond and Anna Pauline Posey, both deceased. He is survived by a daughter, Karen; a brother, Charles, and three sisters, Violet, Ella and Joyce, and by one grandson, all of Mount Union. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers; Virginia Henry, Mildred Henry, Frances Johnson, Ada Posey, Cleo Wilkerson and Russel, Grover and Thomas Posey. Mr. Posey was a graduate of Captain Jack High School in Mount Union and completed military training in 1958. He resided and worked in Montreal until his retirement. Shawn Michael WATKINS, 19, of Forbes Trail Road, McConnellsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Dublin Twp., Fulton County. Born Feb. 23, 1982, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of Russell C. and Lenora (Neuder) Watkins. Aletha Ruth HAMILTON, 79, Great Cove Road, Fort Littleton, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, in Dublin Twp., Fulton County. Born March 10, 1923, in Kistler, she was the daughter of the late Calvin James and Susan E. (Forrester) Shore. Surviving are the following children: Malcolm Hamilton, Hanover; Larry Hamilton, East Berlin; Brian Hamilton, Greencastle, Sioux Fogal, Hustontown, and Cindy McNerlin, Mapleton, 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. CLAPPER, 88, of James Creek, R.D. 1, died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Born Nov. 13, 1913, in Conemaugh, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Anna Grace (Fouse) Stone. She was married to Carl E. Clapper Jan. 19, 1935 in Keyser, W.Va. Mr. Clapper preceded her in death May 6, 1972. Mr. Clapper is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Gongloff of James Creek, R.D. 1. Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive. A son, Blair Clapper, preceded her in death. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy S. She retired December 1977 from Owens-Corning Fiberglas following 32 years as a winding operator. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. PHILLIPS, 87, of HC 83, Shade Gap, and more recently of East Brunswick, N.J., died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born Oct. 22, 1914, in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of George and Winifred (Yorke) Pond. She was married to Robert Phillips who survives at their home. Two daughters and one son survive: Laura Osgood of Saugus, Mass., William Sarro of Saracota, Fla., and Norma Phillips of Staten Island, N.Y. There are 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One son, James Sarro, is deceased. Mrs. Phillips was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shade Gap, where she was active in the Ladies Guild and other church activities. A homemaker, Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Shade Gap Area Senior Citizens. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shade Gap, with the Rev. George Koharchik as celebrant. Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery adjacent to the church. Beth Marie FOGAL, 20, of North Clear Ridge Road, Hustontown, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, in Dublin Twp., Fulton County. Born Sept. 23, 1981, at McConnellsburg, she was the daughter of Sioux (Hamilton) Fogal of Hustontown, and the late John C. Fogal Jr. Along with her mother, she is also survived by a step-mother, Barbara Shatzer, Hustontown, and a paternal grandmother, Clara Fogal, Hustontown. Also surviving are one daughter, Hayley Marie Watkins, at home; one sister, Karen Fogal, Hustontown; one brother, Matthew Fogal, Hustontown, and three step-sisters, Veronica Shatzer, Jeremiah Shatzer and Pam Shatzer, all of Hustontown. Miss Fogal was of the Presbyterian Faith. She was a council member for the Early Head Start Program in McConnellsburg. She had been employed by the BiLo Supermaket, McConnellsburg. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Dry Run, with Pastor George Clippinger officiating. Phyllis M. KORAL, 85, formerly of Petersburg R.R. 1, died at 4:26 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon. Born July 9, 1916, in Juniata, Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Terrence A. and Zenia (Lockett) Craine. She was first married to Huey Spangle, who preceded her in death. She then married John Koral in 1960 at Buffalo, N.Y. Mr. Koral died Nov. 14, 1985. She is survived by two nieces, Carolyn A. Wallen, Hollidaysburg, and Claire L. Powell, Indiana, Pa. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Shoemaker and two brothers, John Craine and Terrence Craine Jr. Mrs. Koral was of the Protestant Faith. She had been employed by Western Electric in Buffalo and was a graduate of the Altoona High School in 1934. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David L. Dearing officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. Shirley BAILEY, 66, of Saxton, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Woodbury Oct. 25, 1935, she was the daughter of Jane (Coy) Dively of Bedford and the late Thomas Dively. She was married to Edgar Guthridge Sr. and then to George "Jiggs" Bailey, both of whom preceded her in death. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Bailey is survived by the following sons and daughters; Charlie Dively of Claysburg, Cyndi Cristillo of Hollidaysburg, Rose Etta Line of Greencastle, Edgar Guthridge Jr. of James Creek and Joyce Gabrielson of HCR 1, Broad Top. A stepdaughter, Joyce Wallace of Mifflinburg, also survives. There are eight grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers survive; Margie Imler, Mary Wade and Patricia Dively, all of Bedford; Chalmer Dively of Woodbury and Raymond Dively of Altoona. Mrs. Bailey attended the Emmanuel Bible Church of Huntingdon for a few years, then became a member of the Church of God Tabernacle of Saxton and most recently, attended the Robertsdale Church of God. During her lifetime, she was a primarily a homemaker, and she was employed in her younger years at the Cove Shoe Factory. She enjoyed needlepoint, playing bingo, going to the senior center, watching game shows and being with family and friends. She was a member of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top City, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, with Pastors James Thomas and Donald Simmons officiating. Interment will be made in Todd Cemetery, Todd. Pierre-Jacques "Pete" BUQUET, 95, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born Dec. 30, 1906, in Rotterdam, Holland, he was the son of the Jean-Jacques-Batista and Jacoba Warnar Buquet. He married Clarice M. Appleton Aug. 5, 1959. She preceded him in death in 1996. He is survived by a stepson, Burnham C. Reich of Montague, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Mary R. Wyckoff of State College; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Mr. Buquet was a public utilities inspector (railroad) for the state of New Jersey. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Aleutian Campaign in 1943. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Centre County Memorial Mausoleum, Chapel, College Twp., State College. Ronald M. SUNDERLAND, 65, of 537 Country Club Road, Mount Union, died at 7:48 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home. Born Nov. 26, 1936, in Newton Hamilton, he was the son of the late Thoborn and Margaret (Black) Sunderland. He was first married to Cecile North who preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1968. He then married Karan Cramer Nov. 20, 1971, at the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. She survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and two daughters; Timothy M. Sunderland, Mount Union, R.D. 1, Gina B. Sunderland, Newton Hamilton and Kimberly D. Boyer, Catlettsburg, Ky. Six grandchildren also survive. He is survived by a brother and two sisters; Evelyn North, Overbrook Acres, Mount Union, Ray Sunderland, Kutztown and Raye Fisher, McVeytown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Sunderland. Mr. Sunderland was a lifelong member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church where he was currently serving on the church board. He was a member of the Mount Union Lodge F&AM No. 688, the NRA and was treasurer of the Newton Hamilton Cemetery Association. He graduated from Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, with the Class of 1956. He was currently employed by the Greater Lewistown Corporation Center, Lewistown, and prior to this worked at this business under the names FMC Corporation, Avtex and Lewistown Specialty Yarns, for a combined total of almost 40 years of service. He also owned and operated a barbershop in Newton Hamilton for many years. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and Penn State Fan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Robert A. Brown Sr. officiating. Interment will be made in the Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery. Mary Alice WITTER, 84, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of Waterfall, died at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Woodland Retirement Center. Born Aug. 19, 1917, in Waterfall, she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Freda Maude (Alloway) Witter. Surviving are one sister, Doris Oakman, New Haven, Ky., and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Witter. Mrs. Witter was of the Protestant faith. During her lifetime she was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts and flowers. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with Pastor Sam Stoey officiating. Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Waterfall, R.D. Emily L. HERRING, 82, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. Born Jan. 10, 1920, in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Francis and Myrtle (Schuetrumpf) Sassaman. She was married to William H. Herring Jr. He preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, William H. Herring III, Allentown; a Daughter, Mrs. Steven (Gail L.) Stern, Middletown, Del., formerly of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, David L. Herring, preceded her in death. A brother and a sister, Irvin Sassaman of Tamaqua, and Betty Sefcik of Chambersburg, also survive. Mrs. Herring was affiliated with the United Church of Christ. She was a unit clerk at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, for 18 years, retiring in 1985. She also operated a babysitting service at her home for ten years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Trexler Funeral Hone, 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. Alice Henrietta REIHART, 89, of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of Alexandria, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Tyrone Hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Larson. She married George A. Reihart, Dec 7, 1930, in Long Branch, N.J. He preceded her in death, Feb. 16, 1967. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Nancy) Muscarella of Akron, Ohio, and two sons, Martin M. Reihart of Huntingdon and George A. Reihart of Alexandria. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Mann; a sister, Austrie Larson, and three brothers, Carl, Norman and Earl Larson. Mrs. Reihart attended Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon, and, prior to that, was associated with the Roadside Chapel on Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon. She was a graduate of Brooklyn High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. She was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, reading and playing bingo. She was a faithful volunteer at the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens Center. A long time resident of Alexandria, Mrs. Reihart had resided at Epworth Manor since February 2001. Before moving to Epworth, she lived with her son, Martin, for a number of years. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, with Pastor Robert G. Maurer officiating. Interment will be made in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Maddensville. Betty Jane MORROW, 31, of 136 W. Maxwell St., Mount Union, died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, following a long struggle with cancer. Born July 9, 1963, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Sipes) Walters of Mount Union and the late Mervin J. Carson Sr. She married Thomas M. Morrow June 23, 1989. She is survived by her husband, at home, and the following children; C. David Moore Jr. of Lewistown, Apryl Dawn Moore of McVeytown, R.D. 1, and Emily Marie, Ariel Louise and Tommee Rochelle Morrow at home. She is survived by five sisters and one brother: Mrs. Anthony (Deborah) Forshey of Allenport, Mrs. Charles "Butch" (Tammy) Moore of Newton Hamilton, Janet Smith of Newton Hamilton, Mervin J. Carson Jr. of Huntingdon, Mrs. Steven (Mary) Haines of Licking Creek and Susan Walters of Cedar Crest. Mrs. Morrow was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. She was a member of the County Line Shuffleboard Team and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. She was a graduate of Mount Union Area High School, Class of 1982, and was last employed at Bleyer Industries, Mount Union. Prior to her time at Bleyer, she worked at Empire Kosher, at both the Mount Union and Mifflintown plants. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Robert Davidson officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery.
