SHULTZ, 59, formerly of Williamsburg and Huntingdon, died in January 2003, (no other date in obituary) in Tionesta. He had been in failing health for the past five years. Born July 16, 1943, in Williamsburg, he was a son of the late Blaine and Elda Shultz. He is survived by his wife, Penny. Three children from a previous marriage survive: Jeff Shultz, John Shultz Jr. and Tina, all of Ohio. There are several grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters: Lee Shultz, Ohio; Roger Shurtz, Hew Hampshire; Jean Smith, Duncansville; Kay Rupe, Ohio; and Ethel Carper, Huntingdon. Mr. Shultz was of the Protestant faith. He graduated from Huntingdon High School. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army. He also served in Germany before being Honorably discharged. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, where full military honors will be accorded. Ada M. BLACK, 84, of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1, died at 9:40 am. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at her home in Cromwell Township, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 9, 1918, in Mowersville, she was a daughter of the late William and Martha (Hart) Leedy. She was first married to Raymond Johnson July 6, 1935. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death June 12, 1968. She then married Lorenzo D. Black May 5. 1977, at the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace. Mr. Black survives at their home. She is survived by one daughter, B. Jean Edgin, Mount Union, R.R.. and one son. Gary R. Johnson, HCR 75. Shade Gap. There are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Geraldine Beers, preceded her in death. The last surviving member of her immediate family. she was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Black attended Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap. R.R. Along with being a homemaker, she was employed by Rockhill Sportswear Inc., Rockhill Furnace, and Sagner Inc., McConnellsburg. She was an avid rose gardener. Funeral services will he held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, R.R. Thomas E. HOWELL, 71, of R.R. 2, Box 563, Petersburg, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, in the emergency room of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 2, 1931, in Petersburg, he was a son of the late Harvey A. and Adaline J. (Huling) Howell. He is survived by his longtime companion, Kathryn M. Pollock, at their home. Two daughters survive: Lonnie F. Rogerson, Spring Hope, NC.; and Tanya C. Sawyer, Cogan Station. There are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother, Richard H. Howell, Huntingdon, R.R. 2, survives. Mr. Howell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Petersburg. He was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 Free and Accepted Masons, Huntingdon; and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Altoona. He was also a member of Alexandria Sportsmen’s Club, National Rifle Association and Huntingdon Ham Radio Operator Club. A graduate of Juniata Valley High School, Class of 1950, he was the owner/operator of Howell’s Photography, Petersburg. He retired from the quality control department of Technitrol, formerly of Petersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Ethelda Alleyene NIER, 84, of 617 Beaumont Dr., Slate College, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Jan. 2. 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, College Township, where she had been a patient since Dec. 24, 2002. She was horn Aug. 21, 1918, in Huntingdon, the daughter of Raymond H. and Margaretta (Lynn) Parks, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Jones T. Reinhardt in 1947. Mr. Reinhardt preceded her in death in 1963. Her second union, in 1971. was to A. Conrad Nier, who died in 1978. She is survived by one daughter, Nina Lynn (Reinhardt) Williams of State College, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A brother, Donald T. Parks of Huntingdon, and a sister, Cleo Gertrude "Dolly’ Gordon of St. Petersburg, Fla., survive. Mrs. Nier had been a member of the Abbey Reformed, United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, since childhood. During her 14-year residency in Harris Township, Centre County. she attended Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Huntingdon Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Retired Persons. Mrs. Nier was a graduate of Huntingdon High School. She was named "Ms. Congeniality of Huntingdon County in 1968. She entered the workforce in early adolescence to support her family and was employed by the Mead Paper Company, JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, a potato chip factory, Art Kann’s Diner, Mid Spriggle’s Beauty Salon and Nier’s Shoe Store, all of Huntingdon. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and with her dog, Kayne. and bird. Winnie. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Jan. 8, at Saint John’s United Church of Christ, 210 North Church St., Boalsburg, with the Rev. Allen L. Heckman officiating. Interment will be made in White Church Cemetery, Hesston. Penn Township. Stephen G. "Steve" DAVIS, 52, of 1518 Washington St., Huntingdon, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. His death was unexpected. He was the son and only child of Henry "Hank" Stewart and Sara (Henry) Davis and was born Aug. 24, 1950, in Munich, Germany, while his father was serving in the U.S. military. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother survives at Mr. Davis’ residence. He never married. Mr. Davis was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, McConnellstown. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon. He was a 1968 graduate of Patterson High School, Baltimore, Md., and attended Baltimore Community College. Mr. Davis worked for Western Electric and AT&T in Baltimore until moving to Huntingdon in 1984. He was employed at the Book Store in Huntingdon for several years. Mr. Davis enjoyed the outdoors. spending time with friends, reading and music. He had a large extended family with which he enjoyed great times, attending reunions and family get-togethers. Interment will be made in Clear Ridge Cemetery, Clear Ridge. Lorma E. McVEY, 97, formerly of McVeytown, R.R. 1, died at 5:12 am. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, where she had been a resident for approximately one year. Born April 29, 1905, in Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Jenny (Gunter) Vaughan. She was united in marriage to James Earl McVey April 22, 1927, in Newton Hamilton. Mr. McVey preceded her in death March 10, 1981. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Delores Mickey, and one son, John Robert McVey, both of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown. There are six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Alice Pecht and Laura Bratton. preceded her in death. Mrs. McVey attended Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. She was a member of Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary; Order of Eastern Star, Mount Union Chapter No. 280; Fairview Grange, Atkinson Mills; and the Atkinson Mills Senior Citizens. SCHMIDT, 73, a resident of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of HCR 61, Mill Creek, died at 2:07 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born June 29. 1929, in Todd Township, she was a daughter of the late Allison F. and Clara Belle (Stains) Reihart. She was first married to Richard G. Saylor. She later married Herbert R. Schmidt Nov. 1, 1975, in Pittsburgh. Mr. Schmidt preceded her in death March 7, 1991. She is survived by four children: Evelyn Robison and Allen Saylor, both of Columbus, Ohio; Carolyn McMillion, Pittsburgh; and Annette Isenberg, Altoona. There are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters are deceased. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Allensville Lutheran Church, Allensville. She formerly served as church secretary at her church in Pittsburgh. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Jan. 7. at the Robert I. Mary (Brulia) MEYASH, 91, of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, died at 8:45 am. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at The Oaks. She had been in failing health for several months. Born March 10, 1911, in Ganister, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Thelma (Verbonitz) Brulia. She was married to Frank T. Meyash in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Meyash preceded her in death July 3, 1955. She is survived by one son, Joseph P. Meyash of Huntingdon. One son, John S. Meyash, preceded her in death. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Meyash was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, where she was a former member of the Ladies Altar Society. She attended public schools in Alexandria. During World War II, she was employed by the John R. Wald Company, Tyrone. She was later employed at Juniata College, Huntingdon, where she worked in the dining room. Following her employment at Juniata College, she was primarily a homemaker. A resident of Westminster Woods since 1997, she enjoyed sewing, reading and watching television. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 524 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. David J. Arseneault presiding. Helen Gertrude (Hockenberry) RHODES, 84, formerly of Huntingdon and a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003. Born Dec. 12, 1918, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Ada (Dunlap) Hockenbeny. She was united in marriage to Steward Thomas Rhodes June 16, 1948, by the Rev R.A. Zimmerman. Mr. Rhodes preceded her in death in 1951. Two sons survive: Jay Earl Rhodes, Shirleysburg; and William Thomas Rhodes, Massilion, Ohio. There are two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She is survived by three brothers; Robert Hockenberry and Harold "Bill" Hockenbeny, both of McConnellstown and Richard Hockenberry of Aliquippa. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of Frank P. Hommon Unit 24 American Legion Auxiliary and the Auxiliary to the Standing Stone Post 1754 Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Huntingdon. She was born and reared in Huntingdon. KEEFER, 71, of 86 Shippensburg Mobile Estates, Shippensburg, died at 2:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born in Willow Hill Nov. 21, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Erma (Guyer) O’Donnell. She was married to Bertis D. Keefer who preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1995. She is survived by one son and two daughters; Roger D. Keefer, St. Thomas; Mrs. Theodore (Leeona K.) Moretz, Clearwater. Fla.; and Sheila M. Graham, Fannettsburg. There are three grandsons, four granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Three sisters and two brothers survive; Naomi Hockenberry and Ethel Parks, both of Mountain Green; Genevieve Taylor, Chambersburg; William Boggs, Mountain Green; and Harold O’Donnell, Spring Run. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. One grandson, Roger D. Keefer Jr., preceded her in death April 13, 1980. Mrs. Keefer attended Fair Ridge Assembly of God, Shade Gap. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Duff-Kuhn VFW Post No. 6168 and Oscar M. Hykes Post No. 223 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, all of Shippensburg. She was a seamstress for the former U-Wanna-Wash Frock Co., Fort Loudon, retiring after 30 years service. She also worked for the Pinellas County School District, Clearwater, Fla. Interment will be made in Fair Ridge Cemetery, Shade Gap. Mary Jane McCOY, 88, of Three Springs, R.R. 1, died at 11:50 am. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 16, 1914, in Todd Township, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Clara (Long) Baith. She was married to Charles M. McCoy April 13, 1937. Mr. McCoy survives at their home. Two daughters survive: Shirley McCoy and Nancy McCoy, both of McVeytown. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Harry M. Baith, Kannapolis, NC.; Mildred Baker, Hesston; Gladys Baith, and Nellie Schmalbach, both of Statesville, NC. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty McCoy, three brothers and three sisters. Mary Phyllis DONNELLY, 85. of 321 Murphy St., Hollidayshurg, died Saturday. Jan. 5, 2003. at Bon Secours-HoIy Family UPMC Regional Health Center, Altoona, following an extended illness. Born May 27, 1917, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late George Garfield and Mary Ann (Rosensteel) Myers. She was united in marriage to George M. Donnelly May 15, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mr. Donnelly preceded her in death July 9, 1998. She is survived by one daughter, Dianne Halbritter of Hollidaysburg. There are two grandchildren. Two sisters survive; Christine Elizabeth Reeser of Shirleysburg and Jean Coe Rohrer, of Delaware. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Zenoble. Mrs. Donnelly was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Mifflin Chapter, Mifflintown; and the Hollidaysburg Lions Club. She had been employed as a cashier at G.C. Murphy, Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed Big Band music, dancing and collecting dolls. Funeral services will he held at 10 am. Kevin Lee MORROW, 36. or 95 S. Riverside Drive, Kistler, the home of his mother, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. in Shirley Township, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born Nov. 2, 1966. in Huntingdon, he was a son of Bonnie (Hocker) Fleck of Kistler and the late Richard Wiser. He was married to the former Verna Mondo. Mrs. Morrow survives in Newton Hamilton. Two children survive; Kaitlyn Morrow. at home, in Kistler; and Breanna Morrow, Newton Hamilton. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Donald (Brenda) Jaymes, Shirleysburg; Richard Morrow. Oakland Mills; Billi Jo Miller, Orbisonia; Brenda (Wiser) Kilgore. Browns Mills. N.J.; and Richard Elliot, Three Springs. Mr. Morrow was of the Protestant faith. He had attended Mount Union Area High School. He was a former member of the National Guard. For the past eight years, he had been employed by Henkels and McCoy. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Jim Hullihen officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Cloyd H. "Rusty’ KYLE Jr., 55. of 2901 Morning Hills Road, Huntingdon, died at 2:15 am. Monday, Jan. 6.2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born July 4, 1947, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Cloyd H. "Pete" Sr. and Dorothy Ellen (Whitesel) Kyle. His father preceded him in death Oct. 13, 1995. His mother survives at her home in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 4. He was united in marriage to the former Kathy Cramer Aug. 19, 1974, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Kyle survives at their Huntingdon residence. Two sons and one daughter survive; Keith Alan Kyle, Huntingdon; Matthew Joseph Kyle, Camp Hill; and Krista Kay Kyle, Huntingdon. He is survived by one grandson and one granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews. Two sisters survive; Laura L. Burket, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon; and Mrs. William (Scarlett R.) Speck, Walker Township. Huntingdon. Mr. Kyle was a member of Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Fatima Council No. 4644; Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; American Legion Post No. 107, Mount Union, where he had been a past president of the board; Loyal Order of the Moose. Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon; and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon. A member of the Huntingdon Band Boosters, he was especially interested in the activities of his children during their school years and beyond. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he graduated from Huntingdon Area High School with the Class of 1965. From June 9, 1967-June 6, 1969, he served in the United States Army as a Spc. 5 with the 11th Armored Calvary Brigade in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Sharpshooter Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired as major from SCI-Huntingdon Jan. 5, 2002. after more than 30 years of service. For a long number of years, he had been active in community sports. He had coached Pee Wee Football, Little League and Junior Babe Ruth teams in the Mount Union area. He had also coached Farm League teams in Huntingdon and had served as president of the Huntingdon City League for over ten years beginning in the early 90s. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Sixth and Washington streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David J. Arseneault as celebrant. Interment will he made in St. Catherine of Sienna Cemetery. Shirley Township. Members of the Honor Guard of SCI-Huntingdon will present the colors at graveside services. Full militaty honors will also he accorded at graveside. Ona M. ‘Onie" (McCooI) PRICE, 70, of R.R. 4, Box 323.,Huntingdon, died at 11:10 am. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003. at JC Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Huntingdon March 12, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Beulah (Jackson) McCool. She was united in marriage to David T. Price Feb. 3,1951, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Price survives at their Oneida Township residence. One daughter, Toni (Price) Cooper survives in Baytown, Texas. There arc six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One so,. James D. Price, preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2002. She was the last surviving member of her immediate fancily, having been preceded in death by a sister, Arlene (McCool) Walker. Mrs. Price was of the Protestant faith. She was a former member of the Women of thc Moose Lodge No. 220, Huntingdon. She attended the Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1949. She had been employed by the former Arrow Shirt Factory, the former Huntingdon Machine Company and the former Owens-Corning Fiberglas, all of Huntingdon. She also operated the former Palace Restaurant, Huntingdon. She was a friend to all. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the John B. ERB, 68, of 230 Big Greenbriar Road. McVeytown, died at 6:23 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, following a serious illness. Born March 11, 1934, in Tipton, she was a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Hardy) Price. She married Kenneth D. Erb Sept. 13, 1952, in the Wesleyan Church, Mount Union. Mr. Erb survives. One daughter and three sons survive; Linda Rabenstein, Altoona; L. Dale Erb, Big Greenbriar Road, McVeytown; Gary L. Erb, Silverford Heights, Mount Union; and Frank J. Erb, Walnut Cove, NC. There are five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter She is also survived by four brothers and six sisters: Terry L. Price, HuntingdonJohn Price, Hartwell, Ga.; Robert Price, Mount Union; Darrell Price, Sykesville, Md.; Betty Fluke, Upper Strasburg; Geraldine Bossinger, Lewistown; Darlene K. Hoffman, Orbisonia; Gloria Hampton, Blairs Mills; Caroline Kelly, Burnt Cabins; and Shelby Scott, Shirleysburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Miller and Barbara Smith, and one brother, Gerald Price. Mrs. Erb was a member of New Life Fellowship Church, Mount Union. She was a member of the Mount Union Chapter of TOPS. She was last employed by the Mount Union Area School District. Prior to that, she had worked 19 years for the former L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing Co., Mount Union. She enjoyed dancing and aerobic swimming. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Robert D. GEIST, 87, of 104 Geist Way, Brookville, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003. at the home of her son, William J. Bishop, 2500 Miller Ave., Huntingdon, where she had been residing. Born May 24, 1915, in McIntyre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Yerda (Anderson) Paydock. She was married to Lawrence E. Geist in July 1949, in DuBois. Mr. Geist preceded her in death June 22, 1973. She is survived by one son, William J. Bishop of Huntingdon. There are three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren. seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. One sister and one brother survive, Evelyn I. Boyer and Bernard T. Paydock, both of DuBois. Mrs. Geist was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brookville. A resident of Brookeville since 1949, she was a homemaker. Funeral services will he held at 11 am. He was united in marriage to the former Cynthia J. Reed Jan. 8, 1966. Mrs. Coy survives at their home. Two daughters survive: Mrs. Anthony (Laura M.) Peters, Chambersburg, and Kimberly R. Morey, Amberson. There are seven grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother; Mrs. Harry (Shirley) Shields, Chambersburg; and Mrs. Leroy (Patsy) Bricker and Jack Coy, both of Shippensburg. Fourth St., Harrisburg. formerly of Huntingdon, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in Mount Joy. Born Aug. 14, 1967, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Martin Thomas and Sandra A. (Foster) Gates. Her mother survives in Mount Joy. She is also survived by two sisters; Cindy E. Gates of Baltimore, Md.. and Mary A. Gates of Columbia. Miss Gates was of the Methodist faith. Hannah Caroline THOMAS, 95, of Saxton, R.R., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at her residence. Born June 13, 1907, in Frugality, she was a daughter of the late William and Sarah (Rightenour) Bollman. She was the widow of William David Thomas Sr. who preceded her in death July 25, 1974. Eight daughters and three sons survive; Dorothy Figard, Saxton; Naomi Hennessey, Mechanicsburg; Florine McGhee , Marlene Wise, and Cathie Maslanik, all of Dudley; Shirley D’Ginto, Green Lane: Fay Bolinger, Robertsdale; Joan Garst, Clarendon Hills, Ill; Robert Thomas, Saxton, R.R.; Earl Thomas. He had been in failing health. Born Nov. 8, 1919, in Orbisonia, he was a son of the late Van and Jenny Varner. He married the former Mary Ellen Campbell April 9, 1938, in Orbisonia. Mrs. Varner preceded him in death March 11, 1980. He is survived by four children; Shirley Hess, Mount Union. R.R., 1; Charles W. Charles "Chuck" SHINGLER, 83, of Brady Township, Mill Creek, R.R., died at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, where he had been a patient the past 18 days. Born June 14, 1919, in Brady Township. he was a son of the late Russell and Jenny Schwab (Fairbanks) Shingler. He married the former Anna Rutter in 1947. Mrs. Shingler survives. Two sons and one daughter survive; John R. Shingler, Mill Creek; Victor A. Shingler, Louisville, Ky.; and Teresa A. Shingler, Mill Creek. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and his brother, John Shingler, of Quantico, Va. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Elmer, Robert and William Shingler He was a past president of the Captain Jack Lions Club, Mill Creek. Mr. Shingler had attended the Center School in Brady Township. He was retired, having worked as a road inspector in the construction industry for a number of years. He is survived by four daughters and one son; Mrs. Daniel (Sherry L.) Fairish, Huntingdon; Mrs. Thomas (Kimberly A.) Ershen, Cape Coral, Fla.; Mrs. Donald (Lisa J.) Gantt; Mrs. Ronald (Kandie A.) Whitesel and Roger H. Knierim Jr., all of Huntingdon. There are 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. One brother, Douglas Knierim of Delaware, survives. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jackie Snipes and Peggy McKee; two brothers, Richard and Thomas Knierim; a granddaughter, Heidi Jo Geisinger, Aug. 20, 1980; and a grandson, Adam Neal Knierim, Oct. 2, 1994. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Markleshurg April 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Cloyd and Christie (Ronk) Speck Shaffer. He was united in marriage to the former L’Nor Short March 30, 1956, at the Abbey Reformed-United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Dr. Hobart C. McKeehan. Mrs. Speck preceded him in death Oct. 9, 1986. Three sons survive; David W. Speck, BeIleville; Philip W. Speck, Saltillo; and Jeffrey M. Speck, Huntingdon. There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Cynthia Hutchings. Mt. Speck was a current member of Payne AME Church, Huntingdon, and a former active member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Huntingdon. He attended the Huntingdon public schools. An auto mechanic, he owned and operated his own garage. He also worked as a foreman for Lester J. MacDonald. In association with his father, Mr. Speck owned and operated Speck Coal Company. He also owned and operated various retail sporting goods stores in Huntingdon and Philipsburg and a used auto sales business in Huntingdon. A co-developer and organizer of the Huntingdon Pee-wee Football League, he was also a coach in the Huntingdon Little League, Teener League and City League, of which he was a former League president. He was active in Huntingdon Community Center youth activities and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting on the family lands until the development of Raystown Lake. Born Dec. 30, 1915, in Altoona, he was a son of the late Charles J. and Ella (Frankhouser) Miller. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth "Betty" Bard Nov. 18, 1939, in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Miller survives. He is survived by two sons; Alan B. Miller, Bristol; and Ralph E. Miller Jr., Port Washington, Wis. There are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister also survive; Raymond Miller of Martinsburg and Helen Stack of Dundalk, Md. Mr. Miller was a member of First United Methodist Church, Newton Hamilton, where he formerly served as treasurer of the church and formerly served on the church board. He was a member and past master of F&AM Lodge No. 376, McVeytown; a member of the Jaffa Shrine and the Jaffa Greeters; Altoona Consistory; Cross of Constantine; Knights Templar; and both the Huntingdon and Mifflin County Shrine Clubs. He was a former member of the Newton Hamilton Borough Council, the Mifflin County Planning Commission, and the Newton Hamilton Cemetery Association. A graduate of Altoona High School, he was a member of the Class of 1933. He had been employed at Fort Meade, Md., with the 2nd Army Headquarters. He retired in 1965, after 30 years of service. Christianna Grace SHEPHERD, 18, a student at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, in a plane crash in Charlotte, NC. Born Aug. 24, 1984, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the Rev. Doug and Tereasa (Houp) Shepherd, missionaries with the Gospel Fellowship Mission in the Azores Islands. Christianna’s parents took her and her older sister to the mission field when she was three months old. Surviving are her parents; her sisters. Amanda, also a student at BJU, and Juliana, and brothers, Stephen and Andrew. The younger three siblings reside with their parents. Also surviving are her grandparents, Glenn and Linda Houp of James Creek, R.R. 1, and Mrs. Clarence (Joanne) Shepherd Purdue of Arizona. Christianna was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon. She was home-schooled and graduated in June 2002 from the Bethlehem Christian School program. She played guitar and piano, and enjoyed nature and singing in churches in which her grandparents were affiliated in the Huntingdon area. She had spent six weeks in her grandparents’ home near Marklesburg before entering her freshman year at BJU. Final arrangements for a memorial service are incomplete. James Harry TAYLOR Sr, 78, of Stoney Ridge Road, Shirley Township, Mount Union, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at his home. He had been in failing health for several years. Born at his family home in Petersburg, Feb. 2. 1924, he was a son of the late James Alton and Sarah J. (Mccauley) Taylor. His first wife, Pearl June (Grace) Townend, whom he married in 1949, preceded him in death in 1973. He married the former Elizabeth Melinda Boyle June 14, 1986, in the garden of their Shirley Township home, with the Rev. Joseph Faulkner officiating. Mrs. Taylor survives at their home. He is also survived by the following children: Gene P. Townend, Bowie, Md.: James H. Taylor Jr., Clermont, Fla.; Mrs. Russell (Lyle) McElwee, Mrs. Thomas (Trolisa) Fletcher and Maria Taylor-Martin, all of Bumpus Mills, Tenn.: and Mary Elizabeth Boyle, Quincy. Ill. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Alexandria, R.R.. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Bud" Taylor, an infant brother, Louis Edward Taylor and an infant sister, Naomi Taylor. Mr. Taylor was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company, both the Huntingdon and Mount Union historical societies and the Humane Society. He had been active in many other community organizations over the years. He had attended the Bethel Bridge schoolhouse and later, Petersburg Elementary and Petersburg Vocational High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 21, 1945 - Mar. 25, 1946. He was a tank driver with the Maintenance Company of the 32nd Armored Regiment. His tours of duty included: Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes, Normandy and Rhineland. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He had been employed by Vipond Corporation as a construction drill operator. He had vast experience in concrete construction, working with the original Tyrone bypass and the construction of the Raystown Dam. Prior to his employment in the construction field, he had been engaged in the logging business with his brothers for a number of years. He enjoyed spending time with family and he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and especially camping and fishing in Canada. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he had lived in Shirley Township since the early 1980’s. VANCE, 78, of Everett Christian Home, formerly of James Creek, R.R. 1, died at 12:40 am. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, following an extended illness. Born May 9,1924, in Saxton. she was a daughter of the late Chester and Pauline (Edwards) Guthridge. She was twice married: first to Neff Evans, who preceded her in death in 1960, then to her second husband, Ralph Vance, who is also deceased. She is survived by one stepdaughter and three stepsons: Mrs. Patrick (Patricia) Cummings of Hollidaysburg; George Evans of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; James Evans of Newry and Carl Evans of Duncansville. There are eight step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren She is also survived by one sister, Gladys Dolt of Saxton. One sister, Catherine Gearhart, and one brother. Donald Guthridge, preceded her in death. Mr. Vance was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Saxton VFW. Ernest Ray GIBSON Jr., 56, of 400 Sugar Camp Road, Saxton, died unexpectedly at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at his home. Born Nov. 25, 1946, in Altoona, he was the son of Ernest Ray Sr. and Cora Mae (Caswell) Gibson. His mother survives at Saxton, R.R. His father is deceased. He was previously married to Linda (Hicks) Gibson. He is survived by one daughter, Alecia Lynn Gibson of Saxton; one sister. Carol Ann Galloway, Saxton, R.R.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gibson was a member of The Saxton First Church of God. He was a life member of the Disabled American veterans. A 1964 graduate of Altoona Area High School, he also graduated from Mount Aloysious College, Cresson, after having taken courses in the computer science field. He was a Prudential insurance agent for a number of years. He also worked for Penn Lines for several years. From 1964-1968, he served in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps. He was wounded in battle three times and was the reciplent of three purple hearts. He aided numerous Vietnam veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and walking in the outdoors with his dog, Pepper. Funeral services will he held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the D. UTLEY, 78, of James Creek, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg. Born Oct., 16, 1924, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Calvin D. and Ella Irene (Isenberg) Utley. He was united in marriage to the former Marion A. Isett May 10, 1948, in Alexandria, Va. Mrs. Utley survives at their home. Two children survive; Kathy (Utley) Behm and Galen L. Utley of James Creek, R.R. 1. There are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Utley was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Los Angeles, with the rank of seaman second class. Born Sept. 1, 1935, in Bedford, he was a son of the late Arthur and Sarah Elizabeth (Swauger) Arnold. He is survived by three sons; Jerry Arnold and John Arnold, both of California. and Jason Arnold of Gettysburg. Three brothers survive; Robert Sutter, Okla.; William Arnold, Hedgesville, W.Va.; and Albert Arnold, Meriden, Conn. He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Arnold. (Courtney) STREIGHTIFF, 34, of 1663 St. Francis Lane, Altoona, died Thursday. Jan. 9, 2003, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 17, 1968, she was a daughter of Gerald C. and Mary S. (Schuster) Courtney who survive. She is survived by one son, Garrett Michael Streightiff and one daughter, Courtney Elizabeth Streightiff, both at home. One sister, Sharon Lee (Courtney) Imler, survives in East Freedom. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ms. Streightiff was a member of New Life Assembly of God and Trough Creek Valley, United Methodist churches. She was a secretary and youth leader at New Life Assembly of God Church and a lay speaker and secretary at Trough Creek Valley United Methodist Church. A graduate of Altoona Area High School with the class of 1986, she also graduated from Allegheny Community College, Everett, with a business management degree. Prior to her illness, she was a secretary at Kephart Trucking, Philipsburg. She had also been employed as a medical office manager at Circle of Life Clinic, Oneida, Tenn. She enjoyed crafts, reading. camping. traveling and coaching youth soccer and basketball. She was fond of the family dog, Cozmo. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. George Francis SCHUMACHER Sr., 77, of Marklesburg, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 12, 1925, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George John and Elizabeth Anne (Murphy) Schumacher. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Frances Imboden on May 6, 1976, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Schumacher survives at their Marklesburg residence. He is survived by seven children; Elizabeth Anne McPherson, Bryn Mawr; George F. Schumacher Jr., New Cumberland; Thomas Lee Schumacher, Enola; James Robert Schumacher, Harrisburg; Patricia Adele Grecca, Waverly; Josephine Elaine Beyer, Halifax; and James C. McCartney, Enola. There are 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive; Robert Schumacher, Pine Beach, N.J.; Elsie Downes, Island Heights, N.J.; and Edna Poh, Bayville, N.J. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, James Creek. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Free & Accepted Masons Blue Lodge No. 464, Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Consistory. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army Infantry during World War II in the European Theatre. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. After 30 years service as a systems analyst, he retired Jan. 1, 1985, from Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. He moved from Etters to his home in Marklesburg in 1986. He dearly enjoyed music and shared his collection of records, tapes and CDs with family and friends He also enjoyed woodworking and was especially fond of making bird houses which he gave to others. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, he also enjoyed attending local flea markets. Sheldon Darroll CRUM, 54, of 179 Billy Meetze Road, Little Mountain, S.C., died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Palmetto Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born July 17, 1948, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late W. Clair and Virginia (Wilson) Crum. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margaret (Kelliher) Crum, at home. Three daughters and one son survive: Molly Rebecca Crum, Columbia, S.C.; Mrs. Shawn (Alicia Marie Crum) Bryant, Irmo, S.C.; Jamie Clair Crum, at home; and Matthew Sheldon Crum, Mount Pleasant, S.C. He is also survived by two sisters, and one brother; Marlene C. Moore and Yvonne C. McMahon, both of Huntingdon; and Norman P. Crum, Harrisonville. There is one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Warren R. Crum, preceded him in death. Mr. Crum was of the Protestant faith. He was serving on the Transportation Research Board, Rural Public and Intercity Bus Committee. He was in the Leadership Columbia Class of 1996 and was a past board member of the Transportation Association of South Carolina. A 1966 graduate of Juniata Valley High School, he graduated from Penn State University in 1970 with a degree in labor-management relations. He was a transportation consultant and was employed by RLS & Associates, Columbia, S.C. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Emma E. JORDAN, 84, formerly of Three Springs, died at 6:41 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. For the last ten years, she had resided with her sister, Grace Williams, at R.R. 2, Box 319, Mount Union. Born Aug. 8,1918, in Henderson Township, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Grace C. (Showalter) McCartney. She was twice married, first to William Boyer; then to Curtis L. Jordan. Both husbands preceded her in death. She is survived by the following children; Billy Boyer, Boaz, Ala.; Richard L. Jordan, Three Springs, R.R.; and Cindy N. Jordan, Mount Union. Three grandchildren who were reared in her home also survive; Katina Varner Gilliland and I. Curtis Varner, both of Three Springs, and Shana S. Varner of Mount Union. One sister, Grace Williams, Mount Union, R.R. 1, survives. There are 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. "Pee Wee" KLINGLER, 99, a past resident of Meadowview Manor, McVeytown, R.R. 1, formerly of 8 E. Vandevender St., Mount Union, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Feb. 10, 1903, in Mount Union, he was a son of the late Charles and Annie (Fields) Klingler. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy R. Harris Sept. 8, 1925, at the Abbey Reformed Church, Huntingdon. Mrs. Klingler preceded him in death Oct. 9, 1988. He is survived by two grandchildren: Mrs. Mark (Lois Ann) Keith, Dover, and Charles Bard. Omaha, Neb. A number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive. He was preceded in death by two daughters; Anna "Trinky" Halk and Lois Bard; two brothers, Richard Klingler and William Klingler, and a sister, Rebecca Grove. Mr. Klingler was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, where he had taught Sunday School at one time. He was a member of the Herman Smith Sunday School Class, with the distinction of having 62 years of perfect attendance. He had been a member of the Mount Union Lions Club, the Mount Union Historical Society and the Huntingdon County Democratic Club. He had also been a volunteer for the Salvation Army. He was a 1923 graduate of Mount Union High School. At one time, he was an agent for Harteysville Insurance Company. He was well-known as owner and operator of Klingler’s Store for many years. Most recently, he retired as a state auditor He served two terms as Huntingdon County Commissioner and also served two terms as mayor of Mount Union. June Zena FIELDS, 77, of Three Springs Estates. Three Springs, died at 10 am. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon. Born May 14, 1925, in Clay Township, she was a daughter of the late Newton R. and Laura Mary (Briggs) Watkins. She was married to Raymond H. Fields Aug. 20, 1994. Mr. Fields survives at their home. She is survived by one son and three daughters; Marsha Hamman, Orbisonia; Forrest John Marks and Deborah Kay Brower, both of Lewistown; and Regina Gay Gilliam, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 17, 1913, in Springfield Township. she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Annie (Taylor) Brown. She married Otis Jerome Mills in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Mills preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1973. Three sons and two daughters survive; James Mills, Otis Mills Jr. and Mary Ann Mort, all of Hustontown; John Mills, Three Springs; and Emma Stains, Saint Thomas. Born March 13, 1913, in Lincoln Township, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Anna Mary (Snare) Lynn. She was united in marriage to Clair S. Hetrick Oct. 5, 1937, in Huntingdon. Mr. Hetrick survives at their home. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. DeWayne (Myla) Norris, Hesston, R.R.; one son, Roy Hetrick, Hollidaysburg, R.R.; and one stepson, Charles A. Stapleton, Johnstown, There are three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and three step-great-grandsons. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lynn and Ralph Lynn, and one sister, Gladys Lynn. Mrs. Hetrick was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Marklesburg, where she was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was a member of the Huntingdon County Gideons Society Auxiliary, the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Lincoln Grange and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), which she was currently serving as treasurer. A 1932 graduate of Huntingdon High School, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Jan. 4, 1921, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Mary (Clark) Keith. He is survived by his wife, Gladys L. (Weidner) Keith. Also surviving are one son and two daughters; Robert L. Keith Jr., Mechanicsburg; Barbara Haller, Camp Hill and Patricia Pluguez, Medford, N.J. Born Aug. 17, 1928, in Newville, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Roy Samuel and Verna Jane (Royals) Roney. She was married to James Robert Cutchall Jan. 29, 1946. Born Jan. 19, 1913, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Lane and Jennie (Hamor) McDonald. Her husband, John D. Moore, preceded her in death in 1971. She is survived by one son, Stephen E. Moore, with whom she had resided since 1978. There are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One sister, Martha A. William Franklin "Gub" HESS, 54, of Lackawanna, N.Y., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y. Born in Saxton, Feb. 16, 1948, he was a son of the late John and Nancy (Reihart) Hess. He was the widower of Yvonne A. "Peanut" Hess. Mrs. Hess preceded him in death April 7, 2002. He is survived by three daughters; Billie Jo Leroy, Dudley; Joudy Ann Lazor, Six Mile Run; and Suzanne Hess, Buffalo, N.Y. There are six grandchildren. Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late Howard E. and Ethel M. (Tarlton) Dorsey. She was united in marriage to Eugene M. Wolfhope, Nov. 14, 1947, in Elkton, Md. Mr. Woltbope preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1986. She is survived by one son and two daughters; Paul A. Wolfhope, Betty J. Wolfhope and Kathleen E. Wolfhope, all of Alexandria. There are two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Dorsey, and two sisters, Thelma Jacobs and Doris Baumann. Mrs. Wolfhope was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Alexandria where she had been active for a long number of years in the choir She dearly loved singing and the last act before her death was to sing "Jesus Loves Me" with her daughters. Private interment will be made in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Charles B. "Dick" PORT, 64, of 24 E. Milford St., Mount Union, died at 12:43 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. following an extended illness. Born Dec. 25, 1938, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Cathleen (Copenhaver) Frankhouser, who survives in Mount Union, and the late Bernard J. Port. He was united in marriage to the former Gail M. Suders June 16, 1959, at the Allenport Methodist Church, Allenport, Mount Union. Mrs. Port survives. Two daughters and one son survive; Melinda E. Damiano, Bellwood; and Michele K. Vogus and Charles B. Port II, both of Mount Union. There is one grandson. He is also survived by two sisters; Katha 1J Morris, Charleston, W.Va., and Mary C. Miller, Johnstown; a half sister, Bernice Port, Connecticut; a stepbrother, Edward Port, Harrisburg; and a stepmother, Bea Port, Middletown. His stepfather, R. Eugene Frankhouser, preceded him in death. Mr. Port attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union. He founded the Mount Union Pee Wee Football League, which he served as president and later, as secretary/treasurer. He also served as president of the Mount Union Little League and managed the Yankees Little League team. He served as treasurer for Mount Union Area Youth Baseball; served as president of the Mount Union Teener League and managed the Indians Teener League team. He served as treasurer for the Mount Union VFW Post No. 5754. A 1956 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a cryptographic communications technician from 1956-1959. He worked for the former L. Greif Mfg. Co., Mount Union; Target Sportswear, Curwensville; the former North American Refractories, Mount Union; and Dallco Mfg., Mount Union, from where he left the work force in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, baseball cards and model trains. Most recently, he enjoyed the canine companionship of Dottie, Izzy and Abby. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Born Feb. 28, 1933, at Ardenheim, she was a daughter of the late Peter I. and Carrie (Dysard) Keppler. She was married to Joe B. Miller on Nov. 22, 1958, at Fairview Evangelical Church, Three Springs, R.R. Mr. Miller survives at home. Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Jo Fish of Shade Gap, and a son, Timothy Joseph Miller of Cassville. Also surviving are five grandchildren. "Gene" ESTERLINE, 79, of 307 31st St., Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Mr. Esterline is survived by Carol Esterline, his wife of 58 years. Three daughters, Claudia J. Arietta of Florida, Melanie Esterline of Minnesota and Sheri Reynolds of Huntingdon, also survive along with five grandchildren, one great-grandson and various nieces nephews. Mr. Esterline is survived by a sister, Patricia West of Ohio. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Huntingdon. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Mr. Esterline worked as a pipe fitter in the steel industry and in heavy construction. He was also employed for 10 years at Juniata College as a supervisor of building and grounds. "Jim" Mumma, 66, of Burnt Cabins, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born March 19, 1936, in Burnt Cabins, he was a son of the late Ira W. and Dorothy Fix Mumma. He was a Protestant. For about 40 years, he was a gas station attendant, having worked about 17 years at the family station in Fort Littleton and 23 years at an Exxon station along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. After retiring, he worked about four years for JLG Industries, McConnellsburg. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. He was a member of Dutchman's Hunting Club and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His wife, Marilyn Thomas Mumma, died July 3, 1988. Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Mrs. Richard A.) Locke of Shade Gap and Renne L. Wilson of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard "Dick" of Burnt Cabins; a sister, Betty Knowles of Nokesville, Va.; and a friend, Shirley Ramsey of Hustontown. Born in Ardenheim July 1, 1941. she was a daughter of the late Pete E. and Edith Jane (Walker) Hoffer. She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Rhodes, July 3, 1971, at Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Raymond Hilliard. Mr. Rhodes survives at their home. She is survived by six children; Charles W. Wilson, Robert L. Wilson, Wanda J. Wilson, Donna Marie Foor, Bonnie S. Parks and Ralph E. Wilson, all of Huntingdon. There are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Violet (Hoffer) Waters, Harrisburg, and Barbara (Hoffer) Gummo, Bellefonte; one half sister, Freda Harner, Middletown, and one half brother, Calvin Kelly, Cleveland. Gladfelter Jan. 28, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Gladfelter preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1989. She is survived by one granddaughter, Renee Anderson of Huntingdon, R.R. 1; and three sisters; Irene Snyder, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Margaret McGee, Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia; and Kathleen Gracey, Waterfall. "Cutty" JAYS Sr., 68, of 131 Luther Lane, Saxton, died at 2:02 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, Bedford. He had been in failing health for the past two months. Born Oct. 24, 1934, in Wood, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Skupek) Jays. He was united in marriage to the former Cora L. Coy July 20, 1957, in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Jays survives. He is survived by five children; Deb Ergler, Orbisonia; Andy Jays, Huntingdon; Mary Palko, Cassville; Sandy Jays, Saxton; and Jesse Jays, Defiance. There are 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister survive; John Jays of Pittsburgh and Anna Mae Drenning of Wood. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jane Messick; three brothers; Jack Jays, William Jays and Walter Jays, and two infant brothers. Mr. Jays was a member of The Saxton First Church of God. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He had been employed for a number of years by the Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg. Born Sept. 18, 1928, in New Orleans, La., she was a daughter of the late Thomas D. and Dorothy (Haas) Hoolahan. She was married to James R. Rhodenizer May 4, 1947, in Metarie, La. Mr. Rhodenizer preceded her in death in 1955. She is survived by three daughters; Ruth M. Jackson, Mapleton; Pamela K. Guyton, Huntingdon; and Kelli M. Foster, Lancaster. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, Thomas Hoolahan of Marrero, La., survives. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Rhodenizer, and two sisters, Norma Hoolahan and Antoinette Taylor Mrs. Rhodenizer was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the auxiliaries to Frank P. Hommon Post 24 American Legion and Standing Stone Post 1754 VFW. She was also a member of Standing Stone Senior Citizens and POSA. At one time, she had been employed at the former Petersburg Manufacturing. She had also been a waitress at the VFW, American Legion and the Moose, as well as at the former Art’s Diner, the former Motel 22 and the former East End Pizza. Her death was unexpected. Born May 5, 1942, in Mount Union. she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Angeline L. "Gee" (Ambrosino) Blazevich. She was united in marriage to Gerald W. Norris Nov. 5, 1960, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Mount Union. Mr. Norris survives at their home. One daughter, Lisa M. Norris. Mount Union, R.R. 3, survives. Mrs. Norris was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Mount Union, where she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She had served as church secretary for several years. She was a 1960 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union. She retired in August 2000 after 24 years with State Farm Insurance. She began in 1976, with the Glenn Brodbeck Agency, Mount Union. She then worked with Rodney Secrest’s State Farm Insurance, Huntingdon. and retired from the office of Linda Shope, Saltillo. Prior to 1976, she was employed by Swigart Associates, Huntingdon, for eight years. She enjoyed reading, visiting with friends and shopping. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am. WEAVER, 69, 30130 Edinborough Drive, Mechanicsville, Md., formerly of Saxton, died at 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, Md. His death was unexpected. Born March 12, 1933, in Saxton, he was the only child of Paul and Pauline (Avey) Weaver. His mother survives in Saxton. His father preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to the former Zula Watson June 5, 1955, in Broad Top City. Mrs. Weaver survives at their home. He is also survived by one daughter, Shirley G. Weaver, at home, and one son, Gary L. Weaver Sr., Mechanicsville, Md. There is one grandson. Mr. Weaver was a member, throughout his Life, of the Church of God. He was a member of several genealogy organizations. A graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, he also graduated from Penn State University with a BS in petroleum engineering. He studied patent law for two years at American University, Washington, D.C. He retired from the U.S. Patent Office, Washington, D.C. Born Nov. 2, 1916, in Stonerstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles I. and Annie (Hoover) Baughman. She was united in marriage to Paul L. Amick Feb. 24, 1938, in the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren Parsonage, by the Rev. Clyde Bush. Mr. Amick survives at their home. She is survived by one daughter and two sons; Mrs. Duane (Carmen Lee) white, Clearfield; Donald L. Amick, The Colony, Texas; and R. Stanley Amick, Hanover. There are 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Amick was a life member of Saxton United Methodist Church where she served on the church board and was active with the United Methodist Women. For approximately 10 years, she served as a youth Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens. For a number of years she was employed by the former Scampers Sewing Factory, Saxton, as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing and baking goods to give away. She was united in marriage to Harris Wilson April 13, 1951, in Hagerstown. Md. Mr. Wilson preceded her in death June 6, 1989. She is survived by four children; Cynthia Wilson, Oakland, Calif.; Rose Marie Houck and Harris Wilson III, both of Harrisburg; and Woodrow "Woody" Wilson, Mount Union, R.R. 2. For many years. she had worked at the Mount Union Head Start Program, first as a full time employee, later as a volunteer and then as a part-time worker. She enjoyed gardening and writing poetry. Born May 28, 1907. in Yellow Creek. she was a daughter of the late John and Susannah (Spahn) Troutman. She was united in marriage to Lloyd M. Morgan Sept. 5, 1936, in Cumberland. Md. Mr. Morgan preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1953. She is survived by one son, Gaylard Morgan of Saxton. There are three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Edgar Troutman, Pearl Hood, Alma Fouse, Lloyd Troutman, Charles Troutman, Luther Troutman, Fred Troutman. James Troutman, Hazel Ott and Emery Troutman. Mrs. Morgan was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Saxton. She was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens and had previously been a member of that organization’s board of directors. She served on the boards of Salvation Army, Saxton; Bedford County MH-MR Bedford-Fulton-Huntingdon Area Agency on Aging, where she served on the founding board and advisory council. Mrs. Morgan received the Pennsylvania Governors silver and gold awards for advocacy. She testified before various hearings and panels of joint house and senate committees for aging services. Instrumental in establishing and developing the CART program, she also participated in regional sessions on developing the state plan for the Agency on Aging. She was a former member of Rebekah Lodge, Saxton; and a member of Saxton Chapter No. 161 Order of Eastern Star. She retired from Monroeville-Gateway School District in 1972 after 10 years employment. FITZGERALD, 96, formerly of Huntingdon, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Bath Township, Ohio. She was married to Victor H. Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death in 1934. One daughter, Helen Snyder of Bath Township, Ohio, with whom she had resided for the last three years. survives. She is also survived by grandchildren, Timothy Fitzgerald, New Cumberland; Barbara Dixon, Huntingdon; Karen Wilkenson, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Patrick Dewey of Virginia. Born July 27, 1925, at his family home in Mapleton, Union Township, he was a son of the late Newton and Emma (Willis) Brungard. He was united in marriage to the former Jean Wagner Oct. 28, 1956, at the Center Union Church. Mrs. Brungard survives at their home. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Patricia E.) Everhart of Huntingdon and one granddaughter, Emili Jane Everhart of Huntingdon. His brother, William Brungard of Huntingdon survives. One sister, Ida C. Foster, preceded him in death. Mr. Brungard was a member of Mapleton United Methodist Church. He was a member of Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; American Legion Post No. 322, Mapleton; the National Rifle Association; Bricktown Senior Citizens and Standing Stone Senior Citizens. He graduated from Mount Union Area High School with the Class of 1940. A staff sergeant with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the World War II Victory Ribbon. In 1984, he retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas following 40 years of service. A lifetime resident of Mapleton, Union Township, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, farming and reading. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Fla., died Friday Jan. 17, 2003, at Ormond Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. A former resident of Petersburg, he had resided in Ormond Beach for 23 years. He was horn Sept. 2, 1912. He was united in marriage to the former Florence G. Barr May 29, 1936. at the First Methodist Church, Huntingdon. with the Rev. Fields officiating. Mrs. Beatty survives. He is survived by one son and one daughter; Samuel N. Beatty. Petersburg; and Doris Long, Calvin. There are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Self-employed in the trucking business for the past 23 years, he currently owned Leidy and Daughter Trucking, Shirleysburg. He served as a dispatch agent for Admiral Merchants Motor Freight, Minneapolis, Minn.; Besl Transfer, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Easton Transportation, Channahon, Ill. He was an avid dirt track race fan and enjoyed attending races at Hesston Speedway, Path Valley Speedway and Thunder Valley Speedway. He also especially enjoyed deer hunting. David C. CONDRACK Sr., 46, of R.R. 2, Box 165, Mount Union, died at 7:46 am. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born July 21, 1956, in Three Springs, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Joy A. (Lane) Condrack. He is survived by one son. David C. Condrack Jr. of Lewistown. There are three grandchildren. Four siblings survive; Stephen J. Condrack, Piscataway, N.J.; Cathy M. Grove, Mount Union, R.R. 2; LeRonda A. Boden, Rockhill Furnace; and Robert E. Condrack, Mount Union. Mr. Condrack was of the Christian faith. He attended schools in Allenport and Mount Union. Most recently, he was employed by Mount Union Borough. From 1992-2002, he was caretaker of the Mount Union Cemetery. He had also worked at the cemetery as caretaker under different management for a total of over 20 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping. He was most proud of his son’s service in the U.S. Marine Corps and who is currently serving with the National Guard, scheduled for duty in Kosovo in March. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Born March 16, 1917, in Fayette Township, Juniata County. she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha (Smith) Kreider. She was married to William S. Slagle, who preceded her in death July 17, 1983. She is survived by two sons and five daughters; Jacob H. Fulkroad, address unknown; William S. Slagle Jr., Mifflintown, R.R. 5; Anna Hutchinson, HCR 67, Mifflin; Faye Naugle, Shade Gap, Virginia Arentz, Honey Grove, R.R. 1; Byrl "Susie" Maize, East Waterford. R.R. 1; and Bertha Peck, Chambersburg. There are 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 18 step great-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Ralph Kreider of McAlisterville, survives. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. "Bud" RUPERT, 87, of Canton, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, 2003, at Doctors Hospital, Canton, following a brief illness. Born June 12, 1915, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Susan (Craine) Rupert who had resided in Huntingdon. His first wife, Alice, preceded him in death in 1976; his second wife, Margaret C. (Bergner) Rupert, preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by two step-daughters, Patricia Hendershot, Massilion, Ohio; and Mary Hickman of Arizona. There are three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive; Dale Rupert, Huntingdon; Janet Voss, Ambridge; and Alta Bailey, Mechanicsburg. Numerous nieces and nephews survive. Mr. Rupert was a member of Whipple Avenue Baptist Church of Ohio. He was a member of LOOM Lodge No. 143, Lewistown. A resident of Canton since 1948, he retired from Dinear Co., Spun Steel Division, in 1980. after 32 years of service. He had formerly been employed by Leopold Chevrolet in Lewistown. Helen Katherine HOUCK, 85, of Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor where she had resided since May 2002. Born May 25, 1917, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (McKeen) Conrad. She was united in marriage to Hobert Marshall Houck April 17, 1959, at the Virginia Beach Methodist Church, Virginia Beach, Va., by the Rev. Lee O. Montzfeldt. Mr. Houck survives at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. She is also survived by one son, Boyd L. Cook of New Castle. There are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother, Carl Conrad of Alexandria, survives. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Helen Louise Cook, May 18, 1937; a sister, Anna Mae Hauger; and five brothers, Herbert Conrad, Homer Conrad, George Conrad, William Conrad and Theodore "Ted" Conrad. Mrs. Houck was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, McConnellstown, where she had been an active member and volunteer at church functions. She moved back to Huntingdon from Virginia Beach in 1976 and resided on the Petersburg Pike until moving to the Blair House Apartments in 1997. Vera Louise (Shinn) ROBB, 79, of R.R. 1, Box 195, Huntingdon, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born July 2, 1923, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Eva (Moore) Shinn. She was united in marriage to George William Robb Dec. 19, 1943, at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church Manse, with the Rev. Hunter officiating. Her husband died in 1996. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law; William Duncan Robb and his wife, Nancy, of Huntingdon, and Susan (Robb) Slautterback and her husband, Louis, of Franklin. Three grandchildren survive; Allyson (Robb) Finkle and her husband, Michael, of Mill Creek; William Duncan Robb and his wife, Julie of Columbia, Mo.; and Bethany Ellen Slautterback of Franklin. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Andrew Michael Finkle of Mill Creek and Vanessa Marie Robb of Columbia, Mo. Two sisters, Pauline Shunk and Ann Zauzig, both of Huntingdon, survive. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John Patrick Robb. She was a member of Soroptomist International Huntingdon Chapter since February 1969, having served as the club president from 1972 until 1974. She had also previously served as the club treasurer and corresponding secretary. She attended the Alfarata Elementary School and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1941 and actively served on the Class of 1941 reunion committee. >From 1957 until 1986, she was employed by the James C. Morgan Insurance Agency and its successor, the Jack M. Shuck Agency, as a bookkeeper/typist and receptionist. Prior to her retirement, she became a licensed agent and the manager of the personal lines department. She served as the treasurer of the former Provident Building & Loan Company prior to its merger with Huntingdon Savings & Loan. WIKE, 88, of 142 Lower Country Club Road, Mount Union, Wayne Township, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at her home. Born July 31, 1914, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Harry V. Wike and Clara E. (Forney) Wike Eade. One sister, Mrs. Edgar (Helen F.) Stuter, Belleville, survives. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. "Mike" SHAW, 81, of West Decatur, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Philipsburg Area Hospital, Philipsburg. Born Jan. 22, 1922, in West Decatur, he was a son of the late Homer "Zoo" and Nellie J. (Lumadue) Shaw He was married to Alma G. Butler May 10, 1942, in Woodland. She preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1987. He then married the former Catherine M. Waring Feb. 18, 1989, in Port Matilda. Mrs. Shaw survives at their home. Born Aug. 3,1926, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Sarah E. (Nale) Ritter. She was the wife of the late George Sheeler Sr. She is survived by four daughters and two sons; Mrs. William (Annie) Benfer, Westminster, Md.; Doris Selby and Delores Leonard, both of Cockeysville, Md.; Geraldine Kennedy, Newport, Tenn.; Robert Sheeler, Shrewsbury; and George Sheeler Jr., Glen Rock. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Tyrone Hospital. Tyrone. Born March 26, 1927, at Pemberton, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine (Delich) Seiner. She was united in marriage to George K. Brantner, Aug. 11, 1943, in Huntingdon. Mr. Brantner preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1980. Two sisters survive; Elizabeth Smith, Columbus, Ohio; and Frances Carper, Tyrone. Numerous nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by six brothers. Mrs. Brantner was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Tyrone, where she was adored by her church family and was affectionately called "Aunt Helen." She was a former member of the Church of God, Williamsburg, and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a former Sunday School teacher there for 30 years. Formerly, she had been employed as a geriatric aide at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg. For most of her life she had pet dogs with the most recent being adored poodle, Pearl. Interment will be made in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona. Louella M. PATTERSON, 82, of 603 E. 8th St., Bellwood, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2003. at her home. Born April 5, 1920, in Juniata, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Ulsh) Worthing. She married James F. Patterson April 2. 1940, in Bellwood. Mr. Patterson preceded her in death May 7, 1980. She is survived by three sisters; Chloe Weaver, with whom she had resided; Jeanette Hicks, Johnstown; and Sylvia Vandevander, Bellwood. Two nephews and three nieces survive. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Bellwood. She was a former member of the Marklesburg Fire Company Auxiliary. Airport Blvd., Sanford, Fla., died Tuesday. Jan. 14, 2003, in Sanford. Born Nov. 1, 1917. in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia (Manspeaker) Brown. Her husband of 62 years. Len, survives at their home. They had resided in Sanford since 1970. Four children survive; Dr. Greg Pawlson, Cabin John, Md.; Virginia Pawlson-Hall, Panama City, Fla.; Catherine Smith, Sanford; and Sharon Sassard, Debary, Fla. There are four grandchildren and one great-grandson. One sister, Audrey Fleagle, Huntingdon, survives. Mrs. Pawlson was an active member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Sanford, where she belonged to Daughters of the King. She was a member of the Pilot Club and Cursillo. A volunteer at the Sanford Christian Sharing Center, she also served Meals on Wheels. Richard R. ‘Dick" REX, 75, of Shelton, Wash., formerly of Wood, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, in Shelton. Born Aug. 13, 1927, in Wood, he was a son of the late Jesse Ray and Martha LaRue (Buckley) Rex. His first wife, Pearl Arlene Rex, preceded him in death July 5, 1994. He married the former Frances Morgan Dec. 23, 2000, in Shelton. Mrs. Rex survives at their home. He is survived by one daughter, Kathryne Rex of Lacey, Wash. Two brothers, Robert Lee Rex of Round Rock, Texas. and J. Ray Rex of Florida, survive. He is also survived by a cousin, Gail (Williams) Kline of Saxton. For a number of years during his childhood, Mr. Rex made his home at the home of his aunt and uncle, the late Ike and Mary Williams. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Rae Lettle. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Legion and 40 et 8. A 1945 graduate of Robertsdale High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1966 as a chief personnel officer. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked in civil service until 1968. He pursued an accounting degree and spent five years in farming before he retired. An avid howler and recreational golfer, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. MILLER, 85, of Valley View Home, Altoona, formerly of James Creek, R.R. 1, died at 7:20 am, Jan. 31, 2003, at Bon Secours-Holy Family UPMC Regional Health Center, Altoona, following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 20, 1918, in Hummel Station, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Brigette (Daily) Carmack. She was united in marriage to Elmer Ross who preceded her in death in 1940. She then married John Miller Sept. 15, 1945. Mr. Miller preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1985. She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Raymond (Olive) Moore, Martinsburg; Mrs. Clifford (Edith) Leabhart Krutz, Robertsdale; Russell Miller, Mrs. James (Sara) Norris and John Miller Jr., all of James Creek, R.R. 1; and Mrs. Russell (Meda) Getz, Naples. Fla. A grandson reared in the home, Donald E. Miller of Saxton, also survives. There are a total of 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Traxler. and two grandchildren Ricky Leibhart and Cheryl A. Norris. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters; James Carmack, Marty Carmack, Calvin Carmack, Emory Carmack, John Carmack, William Carmack, Theresa Carmack, Martha Carmack and Margaret Ross. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Russellville. She retired in 1976 from Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg, following 19 years employment. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the D. BASHORE, 78, formerly of Mapleton and most recently of Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, died at 7 am. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Malta Home, Granville, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 20, 1924, in Mapleton, she was a daughter of Clarence W. and Mildred E. (Johnston) McMullen. Her mother survives in Mapleton. Her father preceded her in death. She was first married to Junior E. Enck, who preceded her in death March 8, 1992. She then married Guy V. Bashore, who survives in Fredericksburg. One daughter, Mrs. William (Susan M.) Rivers of Lewistown, survives. There are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One brother and three sisters survive; Clarence M. "Bill" McMullen and Gladys Cohenour, both of Mapleton, Jean Shafer of Mount Union, and Elizabeth "Betty" Lash of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by four infant sons; Paul Enck; twin sons, James J. Enck and John J. Enck; and Walter B. Enck. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, one brother, Merrill McMullen, and one sister, Anna Mae McMullen. Mrs. Bashore was a member of the Cedar Crest-Lucy Furnace Chapel, Mount Union, R.R.. and the Jonestown Bible Church, Fredericksburg. She retired in 1980 from Hershey Park following several years employment. Prior to that, she had worked at the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown, and for the Harrisburg City School District. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Mapleton. Joseph D. EICHELBERGER, 60, of Kodak, Tenn died Friday, Jan 31, 2003. Born in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late Edward and Margaret Eichelberger. His wife, Judy, survives. He is also survived by the following children; Joseph Eichelberger Jr., Richard Brown, Mrs. Robert (Lori) Heidel and Mrs. Mike (Michele) Franks, all of Huntingdon; Mrs. Albert (Patty) Tisi Sevierville, Tenn.; Michael Brown and his wife, Teresa, Kodak Tenn.; and Susan Eichelberger, Robertsdale. John William ROBINSON Sr., 65, of Yarmouth, Maine died unexpectedly at his home Friday, Jan. 31, 2003. Born Oct. 20, 1937, in Carnegie, he was a son of the late Edward W. and Edith (Longstreth) Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Matthews) Robinson of Yarmouth. Four children survive; MSgt. John W. Robinson Jr., USAF, and his wife, Donna, of Harrisburg; Mrs. Jim (Lynn A.) Adams, Williamsburg; Mrs. Eric (Lee D.) Storms and Ellen Moore, all of Yarmouth. There are five grandchildren; Jennifer Robinson, Sara Robinson, Jody Bartko, Emily Pryor and Annie Pryor. He is also survived by one brother, Edward W. Robinson Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Bethel Park. Formerly of Saxton, he was a retired pastor of the Churches of God in Saxton and Broad Top City. He had served in the U.S. Maine Corps and more recently served as a substitute teacher in Cumberland, Maine, and Falmouth, Maine. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at the Yarmouth Church of the Nazarene, Route 1, Yarmouth. Spring interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Yarmouth. Paul L. MANSPEAKER, 77, of Stein Road, Everett, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Woodbury, he was a son of the late Lewis Carl and Mabel (Fickes) Manspeaker. He was united in marriage to the former Rilla L. Kelly June 25, 1949, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Manspeaker survives. Two sons survive; Brian K. Manspeaker, Elkton, Md.; and Tod W. Manspeaker, Imlertown. There are two grandchildren, one stepgranddaughter and one step-great-granddaughter He is also survived by one sister, Theola Adams of Everett. Two brothers preceded him in death; Wayne Manspeaker and Joseph Manspeaker. Mr. Manspeaker was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Everett, where he served on the church council and taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Everett F&AM Lodge No. 524, receiving his 50-year pin in 2000, and a member of the AAONMS Jaffa Temple, Altoona. He was a past member of the Everett Elementary PTA, which he served as president. He also served as a past president of the Pennsylvania State PTA. He was a member and past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a 1943 graduate of Everett High School. For 40 years, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1985. Initially, he worked as a clerk and assistant postmaster in Everett and was then financial examiner and floor supervisor in Johnstown. He was appointed as acting postmaster in State College, and in 1972, accepted the position of postmaster in Hollidaysburg. In 1977, he became postmaster of the Bedford office, where he served until his retirement Dec. 8, 1985. In his youth, he was a dressage horse trainer. He enjoyed raising quarter horses on his West Providence Township farm, where he was a specialized blacksmith with his own shop, having shod race horses at Bedford Springs, and a championship bull at Falkland Farms. He was a judge for the American Quarter Horse Association. An avid pool player, he also enjoyed playing the 5-string banjo. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Wednesday. David Lee CLINGERMAN, 64, of 174 King St., Petersburg, died at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. He had been in failing health for several months. Born June 20, 1938, in Canfield, Ohio, he was a son of the late Stanley Grant and Hattie Irene (Schenck) Clingerman. He is survived by three sons and two daughters; Jeffrey Clingerman of Michigan; Brent Clingerman and Kent Clingerman, both of Texas; and Hotly Esterline and Kimberly Proctor, both of Michigan. Two brothers and two sisters survive; Quentin Clingerman, Monrovia, Ohio; Stanley Clingerman, Poland, Ohio; Doris Irons, Haltom City. Texas; and Barbara Tschantz, Louisville, Ohio. There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A longtime close friend and associate, Cecil Ross of Petersburg, with whom he operated a ministry, survives. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Richard and Kermit Clingerman. Mr. Clingerman was a member of Spirit and Truth Worship Center, Huntingdon. A 1956 graduate of North Lima High School, North Lima, Ohio, he attended Eastern Nazarene College, Wollaston, Mass. He earned a bachelor of science and a master’s degree in theology from Life Christian University, Tampa, Fla. His prior employment included working at Boeing Aircraft, Huntingdon, Ala,. and Braniff Airlines, Houston, Texas. He had also been a travel agent for a number of years, with AAA and Seabomes Travel Agency, both of Houston, Texas. In 1973, he founded Bond of Love World International Ministries in Houston, Texas. The ministry is now based in Petersburg. He had most recently served as a missionary to Africa for seven years. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 3, at the Green Haven Memorial Garden, Canfield, Ohio.
