Berks County, and formerly of North East Philadelphia, died of natural causes at 11 p.m. Saturday. Jan. 1, 2005, at Reading Hospital, West Reading, where she had been a patient since Dec. 13, 2004. Born in Three Springs, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Susie Hampson. She was the widow of Max J. Crum who preceded her in death May 31, 1971. She is survived by three sons; Harold M. Crum of Park Manor, Cumru Township, Berks County; Donald C. Crum of Spring Township. Berks County and Thomas W. Crum of Warminster. Bucks County. She is also survived by two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. A sister. Zena (Hampson) Hackenberg of Shirleysburg, survives. Mrs. Crum was employed for 20 years by the Woolco Department Store, Philadelphia, in administration, retiring in 1981. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of Mrs. Crum's family. Interment, also private, will be made in Cassville Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cass Township. The Rev. Bernard N. KING, 98, of 109C Faith Drive, New Oxford. died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Hanover Hospital. Born Sept. 3, 1906, in Denton, Md., he was the son of the late Milton Frantz and Annie (Bucher) King. His wife, Ella V. (Baugher) King, preceded him in death June 24, 1986. He is survived by one daughter, Louise K. Watkins of Three Springs, and one son, Lowell D. King of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Dawn Irvin and Danielle Pine; one stepgranddaughter, Stephanie Keiser; and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Ann V. Nies of Rheinholds, survives. Rev. King was very active in the First Church of the Brethren in York and Faith Community of the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He graduated from high school in Ridgely, Md., in 1924. From 1925 to 1926, he attended Blue Ridge College in New Windsor, Md., and graduated from Juniata College, Huntingdon. with a bachelor of science degree in 1930. He graduated from Bethany Biblical Seminary with a BD degree in 1938 and from the School of Theology, Boston University, with an STM degree in 1945. Rev. King was licensed in the ministry at Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon in 1929 and ordained at the church in 1931. He was promoted to eldership in 1940 in McPherson, Kan. His teaching positions included; Oakland High School, Oakland, Md., 1930-1931; Caroline High School, Denton. Md., 1931-1934; Ashland College, 1953; and a number of leadership schools, both interdenominational and denominational. He was a college minister at McPherson College, Kansas, from 1938-1944, and at Bridgewater College in Virginia from 1957-1961. Rev. King served as district executive of the Middle District Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon from 1961-1967. Rev. King's pastorates included churches in Maryland, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. His first retirement was in 1973 to Florida. His second retirement was to York in 1978. Rev. King wrote his memoirs in a book, "A Dunker Boy Becomes Ecumenical," in 1996. His hobbies included writing, golf, gardening and travel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Nicarry Meeting House, Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with the Rev. David Yingling and the Rev. Merv Wunderlich officiating. Interment will be made at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3684 Glenville Road, Brodbecks. Arlene R. BARRON, 81, formerly of Three Springs. R.R., died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. Born Feb. 9, 1923, in Cromwell Township, Huniingdon County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Schmittle) Beers. She was united in marriage to Sheldon A. Barron Sept. 28, 1940. Mr. Barron preceded in her in death April 13, 1998. Surviving are two sons and two daughters: Larry Barron of Elizabethtown, Nancy Whitsel of Shirleysburg and Virginia Newman and Gene Barron, both of Three Springs. R.R. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers survive: Thelma Seiders of Harrisburg, Mabel McClain of Three Springs, Ward Beers of Rockhill Furnace, Jane Whitsel of Linglestown and John Beers of Silver Spring. Md. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and one sister, Virginia Hooper. Mrs. Barron was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Three Springs, R.R. Along with being a homemaker, she was employed by L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing, Mount Union and Dailco Industries, Rockhill Furnace, from which she retired. Her loves were her family, sewing, flowers, gardening and crocheting. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 5. at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home. Orbisonia, with Pastor George Rockwell officiating. Interment will be made in Jordan Cemetery, HCR 71, Orbisonia Caroline BARCHUK, 83, formerly of the Mount Union area and most recently of Fayettevile, died at 9:40 p.m. Monday. Jan. 3. 2005, at Menno Haven in Chambersburg. She had been in failing health. Born June 30, 1921. in Bellwood, she was the daughter of the late Fedor and Kathryn Parascak. She was united in marriage to John Barchuk in February 1942 and he preceded her in death in October 1969. She is survived by a son, John M. Barchuk, and his wife, Patricia. of Mechanicsburg, and a daughter, Joan Mowery, and her husband, Richard, of Fayetteville. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Scott. Stephanie, Michele, Lisa and Michael; and seven great-grandchildren; Hayley, Ian, Ryan, Lily, Savanah, Christian and Mason. Two sisters and one brother survive: Eva Babich of Fayetteville, Mary Buda of Kenmore, N.Y., and Alec Parascak of Tonawanda, N.Y. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother: Stella Stasko, Ann Slywczuk, Sophia Shoemaker and John Parascak. Mrs. Barchuk was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church in Mount Union and the Catholic Daughters. While residing in Fayetteville, she attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. For many years, Mrs. Barchuk worked at the L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing Co. in Mount Union and while in Fayetteville, she worked at the J. Schoeneman Co. until her retirement. Leo Arnone and interment will be made in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. Grace L. PECHT, 83. of Chambersburg. formerly of the Mount Union area, died Monday evening. Jan. 3. 2005, at the Village of Laurel Run Nursing Home, Fayetteville. Born Aug. 9, 1921, in Mount Union. she was the daughter of the late Samuel Warren and Myra Naomi (Smith) Hess. She was united in marriage to Raymond R. Pecht Oct. 10, 1940, in York, S.C. Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1997, having been married for 57 years. She is survived by the following children: Kaylene Steel, and her husband, Sam, of Chambersburg; Richard Pecht, and his wife, Kathy, of Newburg; Judy Glenny, and her husband, Ron, of Shippensburg; Debby Wagaman, and her husband, Bill, of Fayetteville; Naomie Linn, and her husband, Terry. of Newton Hamilton; and Cindy Wilson, and her husband, Steve. of Chambersburg. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister survive: Robert Hess of Walpole, N.H., Charles Hess of Nescopeck and Arlene Rinker of Mount Union. She was preceded in death by an infant child and a son, Frederick; a brother, Kenneth; and two sisters, Margaret Latherow and Patricia Harven. Mrs. Pecht was a member of the Allenport United Methodist Church. A graduate of Mount Union High School, she was a homemaker and was an avid crafter. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Parsons. 79, of 24 Walnut Ave., Mount Union. died unexpectedly at 11:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Lewistown Hospital following a brief illness. Born Aug. 20, 1925, in Shade Valley, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Russell O. and Lolita (Parson) Parsons. He was united in marriage to Geraldine McKim April 30, 1946, in Hagerstown, Md. She preceded him in death May 30, 2003. He is survived by two sons and three daughters; Norman Wayne Parsons, and his wife, Carol, of Mapleton, R.R. 1; Donna K. Harshbarger of Ryde; Rose Marie Waite, and her husband. Chris, of McVeytown, R.R. 1; Clyde G. Parsons, and his wife, Eileen, of Newton Hamilton; and Karen Elaine Wertz, and her husband, Dan, of Huntingdon. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A brother, Charles E. Parsons of Mount Union, R.R. 1, and a sister, Lena Abrashoff of Lewistown, survive. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kip Douglas Kyper, and three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Parsons was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Union and the Herman Smith Sunday School Class. His Masonic affiliations included the Masonic Lodge No. 376, McVeytown; Tall Cedars No. 88, Harrisburg; and Jaffa Temple Shrine Club. He was also a life member of the Newton-Wayne Sportsmen's Club; a life member of the NRA; a life member of American Legion Post No. 107, Mount Union; a life member of VFW Post No. 5754, Mount Union; a member of the Bricktown Senior Citizens and Unified Sportsmen's Club; and a 45-year member of the Newton-Wayne Lions Club. He attended Mount Union schools and served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. After 34 years of working in the bridge construction trade, the last 17 of which were spent at New Enterprise, Mr. Parsons retired. Prior to bridge work, he had worked at North American and General Refractories, both in Mount Union. During his working life, he also built several homes in Mount Union and surrounding areas. Mr. Parsons loved to hunt and fish. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Robert D. BOONIE Sr., 79, of 4542 Shavers Creek Road, Petersburg, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Huntingdon. Born Jan. 7, 1925, in West Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Charles and Irene (Warefield) Boonie. He was united in marriage to Edith Jane Fink Dec. 4, 1943, in Alexandria by the Rev. Clifford Williams. He is survived by his wife at home and the following children: Wayne E. Boonie Jr. and his wife, Darlene of Petersburg, R.R. 1; Charles I. Boonie, and his wife, Jean, of Huntingdon; Mary I. Keller, and her husband, Norman, of Petersburg, R.R. 1; Gary L. "Sam" Boonie. and his wife, Katie, of Huntingdon; Patricia A. Harris, and her husband, Earl, of Tyrone Kimberly J. Riling of Alexandria; and Sandra K. Merritts, and her husband, Ronald, of Petersburg, R.R. 1. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Three sisters and three brothers survive: Maxine Diehi of Petersburg; Jean Barrett of Johnstown; Wesley Boonie of Petersburg, R.R. 1; James Boonie of Petersburg, R.R. 1; Chester Boonie of Milheim; and Mary Lightner of Petersburg, R.R. 1. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carmen Boonie Glenn Boonie and Charles Boonie Jr. Mr. Boonie was affiliated with Paraclete Ministries of Cassville and was a member of the Springs of Living Water Fellowship in Huntingdon. He was a charter member of the Shavers Creek Volunteer Fire Co. A veteran of World War II Mr. Boonie served in the United States Army as a private first class with Battery C of the 586th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. He worked in the construction field as a general laborer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Mooney, 64, of Orbisonia, died at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at her home after being ill for the past three years. Born Aug. 27, 1940, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Kathleen (Parson) Fleming. She was united in marriage to Richard S. Mooney July 11, 1972. She is survived by her husband at home and by the following children: Rocco Mooney, West Chester; Richard Mooney Jr. of Chambersburg; Garry Mooney of Tennessee; Barbara Leady, and her husband, Lee, of Newburg; Chad Miller, and his wife, Corie, of Newmanstown; and Krystal Mooney at home. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive; James Fleming, and his wife, Carolyn, of Blairs Mills; Anna May "Toot" Maney of McConnellsburg; Betty Runk, and her husband, James, of Hustontown: Janet Seville, and her husband, Merrill "Buck," of McConnellsburg; Joseph Fleming, and his wife, Marlene, of Orbisonia; Karen "Sue" Chapman, and her husband. Gerald, of Blairs Mills; Connie Gibbons, and her husband, Merle, of Gardners; and Richard Fleming, and his wife, Peggy, of Dry Run. Two brothers, Darrell Gene "Doc" Fleming and Charles "Larry" Fleming and one sister, Mary Espenshade, preceded her in death. Mrs. Mooney was a member of the Nossville United Methodist Church, Blairs Mills, R.R. She was employed at a number of nursing homes and also worked with Early Intervention. The Mooneys have reared many foster children over the years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Martin R. KISSIEL, 63, of R.R. 1, Box 440, Mapleton, died unexpectedly at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5. 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born June 2, 1941, in Smith Valley, Mapleton, R.R. 1, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Olive Mae (Cutshall) Yocum She was united in marriage to D. Barry Kissiel June 27, 1959, in Benton. She is survived by her husband and three children: Samuel B. Kissiel of Mapleton. R.R.; Michael R. Kissiel, and his wife, Denise, of Mount Union; and Wanda J. Hoover, and her husband, Kevin, of Mapleton. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Laurel and Amanda. Two sisters and one brother survive; Jane Miller, and her husband. Max, of Mapleton; Alma Greenland, and her husband, David, of Mapleton, R.R.; and Chester Yocum. and his wife, Bess, of Saxton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Yocum. Mrs. Kissiel was a member of Bowman's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she helped in the preparation of communion. She was a homemaker who enjoyed life. Her main love was her family and she also enjoyed flowers and gardening and riding motorcycles with her husband. Mrs. Kissiel also worked as a volunteer at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Bowman's Chapel United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Troxell officiating. Interment will be made in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, R.R. 1. Richard Wyland THOMPSON of Glen Meadows Retirement Community in Maryland died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005. Born Oct. 13, 1918, he was the beloved husband of the late Annabelle Thompson. He is survived by the following children: Sharon Andrews of Monkton, Md.; Michael Thompson of Newtown Square: Susan Yaruta of Huntingdon; and Mark Thompson of White Marsh. Md. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: John H.P. Andrews Ill, Jennifer Brezovec, Stephanie Yaruta, Patrick Thompson. Alexander Thompson, Nicholas Yaruta and Christopher Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Keegan and McCready Andrews. One brother and two sisters survive: F. Clair Thompson of Clearfield, Helen MacDowel of Johnstown and Ann Kyler of Johnstown. Mr. Thompson was a member of Lions Club International. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. having served during World War II, and was medically discharged. His life’s vocation was as a design and salesman of custom metal products. Mr. Thompson loved people and was an avid reader and avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Orioles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Miller-Dippel Funeral Home Inc., 6415 Belair Road, Baltimore, Md. Interment will be made m Bel Air Memorial Gardens. Florence V. "Red" (Leader) NEUDER, 78, of 30 East St., Robertsdale, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at her residence. Born Oct. 4, 1926, in Cooks, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Sara L. (Heffner) Leader. She was the widow of Clyde Neuder, to whom she was married Nov. 5, 1941. Mr. Neuder preceded her in death Feb. 9. 1994. She is survived by four daughters; Violet Watkins of Robertsdale, R.R., Linda Rhoat of Maryland, Janet Dixon of Six Mile Run and Lois Singer of Six Mile Run. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cleo Neuder, and a son, William Didyk. Mrs. Neuder attended the Robertsdale Church of God. She was a homemaker anda devoted mother. During her lifetime she enjoyed going to flea markets and sales, flowers and her cats and dogs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home. Broad Top City, with Pastor Donald Simmons officiating. Interment will be made in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery. Ronald E. SNYDER Jr., 35, of Huntmgdon, R.R. 3, died at 5:21 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Aug. 12, 1969, in McConnellsburg, he is survived by his parents, Ronald E. and Helen (Davidson) Snyder, of HCR 60, Orbisonia. He is also survived by his companion, Tracey Clark, and her son, Michael, at their home; a sister, Michele Grove, and her husband, David, of Mount Union, R.R. 1: a step-grandfather, Charles Hann of Rockhill Furnace; and two nephews and one niece. Mr. Snyder was of the Protestant School and was employed by Martin Oil Co., Bellwood, as a furnace technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed computers. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of Mr. Snyder's family. Interment will be made in Three Springs Cemetery. Larry W. STAINS, 60, of Three Springs, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon following an extended illness. Born Sept. 25, 1944, in Three Springs, he is survived by his parents, Vaughn and Bernice (Rhone) Stains, residents of Conestoga View Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was united in marriage to Shirley Greenland April 25, 1964, at the Cherry Grove Church of God, Three Springs, R.R. He is survived by his wife at home and by two sons, Robert W. Stains, and his wife, Denise, and Mark D. Stains, and his fiance, Michele Krepps, all of Three Springs. A number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren survive. Two sisters survive; Nancy Weimer, and her husband, Stanley, of Gap, and Donna Locke, and her husband, Howard Van, of Mechanicsburg. Mr. Stains was a member of Cromwell United Bible Church, Three Springs, R.R., where he taught Sunday school for many years and served as deacon for a number of years. He was a life member of the Three Springs Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Huntingdon County Volunteer Fireman's Association. He had served on Three Springs Borough Council and was a member at the Three Springs Lions Club for a number of years. Mr. Stains graduated from Saltillo High School with the Class of 1962. He was a member of Carpenter's Local 2247 for 43 years and did carpentry work on bridges and road construction. At one time, be was employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union. He had also built collages for the Tuccarora Land Development in the area and for a time had his own ATV business in Three Springs. He was last employed at SCI Smithfield with the Operation Outward Reach Program as a carpentry instructor. Mr. Stains loved hunting, attending Carlisle Car Shows and camping with family and friends. He also loved to help with church camp and to sing. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. Tex Dunbar and the Rev. Edmund Cotton officiating. Interment will be made in Three Springs Cemetery. Angela J. HAWN, 40, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born Aug. 25, 1964, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Brenda Knode King of Huntingdon and the late I. Robert "Skinny" King. She formerly was a receptionist at Stone Valley Construction Inc. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in McAlevys Fort and a former member of the Stone Creek Volunteer Fire Company. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Tyler C. Hawn, at home; and a brother, Matthew R. King of rural Huntingdon. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, McAlevys Fort, with the Rev. Evelyn Wald officiating. Burial will be in Green Lea Cemetery, McAlevys Fort. Ralph M. "Max" RINKER Sr., 60, of R.R. 1, Box 65, Huntingdon, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at his home. His death was unexpected. Born June 12, 1944, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Ralph Raymond and Edna Blanche (McCall) Rinker. He was united in marriage to Barbara E. Waite Feb. 19, 1982 at the Church of God in Smithfield. He is survived by his wife at home; and by one son, Ralph M. Rinker Jr. of Shirleysburg; and a daughter, Melissa Price of Huntingdon. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Kristin, Douglas and Paige Rinker. One sister and two brothers survive; Judy Young of Todd, Larry Rinker of Huntingdon and Roger Rinker of Ohio. Mr. Rinker was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the home association of the Frank P. Hommon Post, No; 24 American Legion, Huntingdon, and the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Co. Rinker was once employed by E.M. Foster Co. Huntingdon; Young's Engineering in Todd; and then Empire Kosher in Kistler and Mifflintown. He retired on disability in 1998 from U.S. Sports in Huntingdon. Mr. Rinker was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thesday, Jan. 11, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon with the Rev. David A. Bailey officiating. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery, James Creek, R.R. 1. Harold E. "Papa" BENSON, 63, of 19 Half Mile Drive, Gardners, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at his home. Born Jan. 4, 1942, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Mabel (Bechtel) Benson. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie R. (Nelson) Benson, and a daughter, Christy D. Clippinger, and a son, Ryan S. Benson, both of Mount Holly Springs. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters survive; Merrill Benson of Royersford, Berlin Benson of Three Springs, Viola Glunt of Shade Gap and Thelda Stydinger of Shirleysburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Benson. Mr. Benson was a member of the Roadway Retirees Club and Central PA Teamsters Local No. 776. He was a member of the Orbisonia American Legion and served in the National Guard. He retired from Roadway Express where his co-workers knew him as "Pee-Wee." BLAIR, 93, a resident of The Village of Morrisons Cove, formerly of Six Mile Run, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at The Village. Born July 4, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Mabel E. Everhart. On Sept. 9, 1941, in Hagerstown, Md., she was united in marriage to Clyde V. "Shinny" Blair, who preceded her in death June 15, 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Drenning, and her husband, Douglas, of James Creek; two stepsons, Charles Blair of Saxton and Clyde R. Blair of Weatherly; and two grandchildren reared in her home, Timothy Fockler of Defiance and Melissa Weaver of Saxton. She is also survived by 12 step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two brothers survive; Ellsworth O'Neal of Saxton and Robert O'Neal of Massilon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Donna Foor and Lois Ann Ritchey, and the following brothers and sisters; Webster Black, Genevieve Frazier, Hazel Thomas, Dorcas Platt and Amanda Barber. Mrs. Blair was a member of Saxton First Church of God. She was a member of the Hopewell and Broad Top senior citizen centers. She was the first life member of the Six Mile Run Ladies Auxiliary and was honorary member of the Six Mile Run Volunteer Fire Co., where she served as dispatcher for 16 years. Mrs. Blair graduated from Broad Top High School with the Class of 1933. She and her husband owned and operated Blair's Store in Six Mile Run for 45 years, until 1986. Earl HESS, 63, of Aur Ladies Acres Road, Six Mile Run, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born May 21, 1941, in Saxton, he was the son of the late Thomas and Pauline (Wenrich) Hess. On May 28, 1966, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Reed. Mrs. Hess survives, also with one son, Robert E. Hess, and his wife, Melissa (Brode), of Denver, Pa., and one daughter, Julie M. Balliet, and her husband, Richard Jr., of Six Mile Run. He is survived as well by a sister-in-law, Geraldine (Lynn) HessHe is also survived by five grandchildren; Hope, Erin and Olivia Hess and Ricky Earl and Sarah Balliet. A sister, Alice Mae Heffner, and her husband, Tom, of Yardley, and a brother, Dick Hess, and his wife, Shirley, of Bedford, survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hess, who died in infancy, and Bud Hess. Mr. Hess attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley. He was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, Class of 1959. He owned and operated Service Star Hardware in Saxton for 12 years. Bernard I. White and the Rev. John Negebeauger officiating. Interment will be made in Ave Maria Cemetery. Edgar N. DIXON, 65, of Rockhill Furnace, died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Wayne Township, Muffin County, he was the son of the late Arnold and Vesta (McKendree) Dixon. He was united in marriage to Kay M. Krugh April 27, 1962. Mrs. Dixon survives at their home. He is also survived by a son, Timothy L. Dixon, and his wife, Nicole, of Mechanicsburg, and one granddaughter, Willow Grace Dixon. A brother, Ellsworth Dixon of Lewistown, and one sister, Janet Summers of Waterfall, survive. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Dixon served as a deputy conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for many years. Alice Elizabeth (Brehman) WELDON, 97, of 705 14th St., Huntingdon, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Mrs. Weldon's death was unexpected. Born July 11, 1907, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert S. Brehman and Fannie (Smith) Brehman. She was united in marriage to Robert Ellsworth Weldon Nov. 5, 1925, by the Rev. Hobart D. McKeehan at the Abbey Reformed Church in Huntingdon. Mr. Weldon preceded her in death Sept. 18, 1983. She is survived by one daughter, Doris "Dee" (Weldon) Kurtz, and her husband, Victor H., of Huntingdon; and one son, Roger Brehman Weldon of Fairfax, Va. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Candace (Kurtz) Adams, and her husband, Mark, of Fredericksburg, Va.; Sherrene (Weldon) Burton, and her husband, John, of Fairfax, Va.; and Scott Weldon of Annandale, Va.; four great-grandchildren: Danielle (Hawn) Wingate, stationed with the United States Air Force in Honolulu, Hawaii; Amanda Hawn of Richmond, Va.; and Avery and Joseph Burton, both of Fairfax, Va.; six step-great-grandchildren: Quinn, Dylan, Jordan, Alison, Nolan and Austin Adams, all of Fredericksburg, Va.; and one great-great-grandson, Jacob Wingate of Honolulu, Hawaii. She was preceded in death three brothers; Robert, George E. and Charles Brehman. Mrs. Weldon was affiliated with the Presbyterian denomination. She attended public schools in Williamsburg and graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1925. She was primarily a homemaker and in recent years, enjoyed watching current events on television and was an avid fan of C-Span programming. Mrs. Weldon had resided at her 14th Street home since 1974. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Richard W. FRAKER, 93, formerly of Saltillo, died at 12:27 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring. Born Dec. 10, 1911. in Fort Littleton, he was the son of the late George and Alice (Orth) Fraker. He was united in marriage to Ann Lee Brodbeck Aug. 13, 1937, in Saltillo. Mrs. Fraker survives at Homewood in Martinsburg. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Fraker was a member of the United Methodist Church in Saltillo, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He also served as a trustee. He joined the Orbisoma Lions Club in 1942 and served as president and on membership and finance committees. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow and a 55-year Monarch. Mr. Fraker went to grade school in a one room schoolhouse in Fort Littleton. At the age of 14, he entered McConnellsburg High School and graduated in 1929. In the fall of 1929, at age 16, he entered Juniata College, graduating in 1935, taking a year and one-half off to earn money to complete his college education. He earned a bachelor of science degree in biological science, history and mathematics. While at Juniata, he played on the baseball team, from 1930-1933, serving as captain in 1933. He was given a teaching contract at Saltillo High School in the fall of 1935 and taught all sciences and some business subjects and coached all sports, both boys and girls teams. When the Southern Huntingdon County High School was formed he taught biology and related sciences, retiring in 1976 after 41 years of service. In Saltillo, Mr. Fraker served on the borough council He directed the playground for 12 years serving as Little League coach. In high school, his boys won several Huntingdon County League championships. Mr. Fraker was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Rod & Gun Club, along with various other fishing and hunting clubs. Always proud of his baseball ability as a pitcher, he was elected to the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame and the Juniata College Hall of Fame in 1999. Born Sept. 13, 1915, in White Township, Indiana County, he was the son of Joseph and Nettie Jane (Moose) Shank. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Akerson) Shank, and five children; Dian M. Crile of Huntingdon; Carol B. McGuire, and her husband, Charles, of Coral; Clarence R. Shank Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Coral; Harry F. Shank, and his wife, Donna, of Indiana; and Linda K. Spence, and her husband, David, of Penn Run. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister survive; Paul R. Shank of Indiana, Mearl L. Shank of Plumville and Grace M. Slater of Indiana, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mable G. Born April 22, 1928, in Mapleton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Chilcotte) Heaster. He was united in marriage to Verna Maskulyak March 17, 1951, in Allenport. He is survived by his wife at home and three sons: F. Robert "Greenie" Maskulyak and his wife, Helen, of Mount Union; Oliver Jay Heaster Jr. and his wife, Karen A., of Mount Union; and Dennis R. "Moe" Heaster, and his wife, Karen S., of Mount Union. A nephew, Mike Madilia of Cedar Crest, who was reared in Mr. Heaster's home, survives. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Reed Heaster of Warren, Ohio, and Fred Heaster of Exmore, survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Jaylene Heaster; two nephews, reared in his home, Anthony Madilia and John Madilia; two sisters, Gladys Heaster and Grace Morder; a brother, John Heaster; and a grandson. Mr. Heaster was a member of the Mount Union Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as past president and vice president and was honored as Fireman of the Year in 1987. He had been past president of social events at SCI Huntingdon and was a member of VFW Post No. 5754, Mount Union, and the Mount Union Lions Club. Mr. Heaster graduated from Mount Union High School with the Class of 1946 and served overseas in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Okinawa, Japan. He retired as a lieutenant from SCI Huntingdon after 27 years of service. Mr. Heaster was an avid hunter and fisherman and an ardent supporter of Mount Union area athletics programs. Born Jan. 14, 1926, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. Cresswell and Frances (Bell) Cresswell. She was united in marriage to Ray F. Miller Jr. July 4, 1944, in Pleasantville, N.J. She is survived by her husband at home; one son, Steven R. Miller, and his wife, Millie, of Petersburg; and one daughter, Patricia A. Russell, and her husband, James, of Blairsville. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers survive; Ann Rishel of Alexandria; Mary Lou Serafin of Hockessin, Del.; Francis Cresswell of Alexandria; and Henry Cresswell of Huntingdon. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Huntingdon Historical Society. Mrs. Miller attended public schools in Petersburg and graduated from the Petersburg Vocational High School with the Class of 1943. She later graduated from the Altoona School of Commerce, Altoona. She was employed by the J.C. Blair Co., Huntingdon, and retired from the Huntingdon Department of Public Assistance in 1975 as a clerical supervisor. Harold G. Williams Jr. officiating. LuLu A. TURNER, 102, formerly of Clearfield, and most recently a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at The Oaks. Born Jan. 21, 1902, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of John C. and Sarah L. (Smith) Henry. She is survived by a daughter, Joan E. Kowalcyk, and her husband, Francis, of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Lance Turner and Dale Kowalcyk; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy W. Turner, who died July 28, 1970; and a son, Eugene G. Turner. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers; Wade, Russell, Monte, Murray and John Henry; and three sisters; Pearl Shaw, Jane Bowman and Wava Gelnett. Mrs. Turner was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and was a former member of the United Methodist Women. She worked as a seamstress for 45 years, retiring from McGregor Sportswear in 1967. Born Dec. 31, 1920, in Wells Township, Fulton County, he was the son of the late William and Goldie (Stains) Ritchey. His wife, Elizabeth (Hildebrandt) Ritchey, preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1996. He is survived by one daughter, Ruth Eliane Wenzell of Florida, and two sons, Robert Ritchey of Denver, Colo., and Randy Ritchey of Oklahoma. He is also survived by one brother, James Ritchey of Payson, Ariz., and three sisters; Vivian Black, Phyllis Szabo and Mary Kohier, all of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by one son, William H. Born May 27, 1918, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Maria (Schroeder) Burker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy G. Rupert. She is survived by two sons, Michael T. Rupert of Camp Hill and Barry W. Rupert of York. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Bonnie L. Hott of Taneytown. A brother, Carroll D. Schroeder of Newton, Ala., survives. Mrs. Rupert was a former member of the Smithfield Community Bible Church. Primarily a homemaker, she had, at one time, also worked for Prismo Safety Corp. Ida GILBERT, 88, formerly of Mapleton and for the past 15 years a resident of Huntingdon Manor, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the manor. She had been in failing health. Born Oct. 3, 1916, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Blanche (Whidney) Gilbert. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ms. Gilbert was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Mount Union where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She will be remembered as having been associated with her parents operation of Gilbert's Meat Market in Mapleton Depot and the operation of a print shop of her own above the store for many years. Jeannette S. (Showalter) MENCH, 95, of North Versailles, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. Born March 17, 1909, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Sr. and Jeannette (Bennett) Showalter. Mrs. Showalter was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Mench. She is survived by three grandchildren, Christine Ann Mench, Ronald Showalter Mench Jr. and Michael Joseph Mench as well as a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers, Marshall Showalter Jr. and Robert Showalter, both of Huntingdon. A son, Ronald Showalter Mench, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Florence Gail LIGHTNER, 69, of Rye Township, Marysville, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born April 9, 1935, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Ethel Fields Welliver. She was the widow of Dale E. Lightner. Surviving are a son, David J. Lightner, and his wife, Holly, of Newport, and two daughters, Jean M. Hennessy, and her husband, Sean, of Camp Hill and Mary J. Bowerman, and her husband, John, of Enola. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Lightner was retired from the Rite Aid Corporation, Shiremanstown, and was a former employee of Iceland Seafood Corporation, Shiremanstown. Sara "Sally" (Henry) DAVIS, 87, a resident of Huntingdon since 1984, and formerly of Baltimore, Md., died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Born July 17, 1917, in Dudley, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Cleveland Henry and Myrtle (Shore) Henry. She was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Stewart Davis Aug. 18, 1942, in Boise, Idaho. Mr. Davis preceded her in death May 25, 1979. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen G. "Steve" Davis, Jan. 2, 2003. She is survived by two brothers, Wendell Henry of Clear Ridge and Reed Henry of Camp Hill. She is survived by her close friend and caregiver, Karen J. Ponish of Huntingdon, who for several years was referred to by Sally as the daughter she never had. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She maintained many close relationship with friends from her days living in Baltimore, several of which were childhood friends of her son, Steve. In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by four brothers; John A. Henry, Raymond Henry, Kenneth "Pete" Henry and Richard "Dick" Henry. Mrs. Davis was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, McConnellstown. She attended public schools in Fort Liuleton and Hustontown and following her high school graduation, she attended the Altoona School of Commerce where she received her secretarial degree. She was employed as a secretary at several Huntingdon businesses. Mrs. Davis traveled the world with her husband while he served in the United States Army and lived in Germany for three years where she gave birth to her son, Steve, in Munich. She was a daredevil of sorts. In her younger days, she enjoyed flying with her brothers and friends and was known to have been a passenger in a plane performing acrobatic stunts. Surviving in a family of six boys, she had to be tough. In her later years, she enjoyed visiting at the farm and spending time with her family and friends. Born Dec. 29, 1907, in Cooper Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Knepp) Banks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Joseph Paulvir. She is survived by five daughters and one son; Mary Kathryn Ribblett of Johnstown; Charles L. Paulvir of Halifax; Leah G. Baird of East Freedom; Nancy Ruth of Davenport, Fla.; Lois Watson of Palmetto, Fla.; and Linda Paulvir of Mount Union. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Geraldine Crum of Taylor Apartments, Mount Union, survives. Arthur Ritchey CUTSHALL, 92, of James Creek, R.R. 1, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 6, 1912, in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late John and Bessie (Wagner) Cutshall. He was twice married; first to Evelyn Shue Jan. 21, 1937. She preceded him in death Aug. 30, 1965. He was united in marriage to Rosena M. Hoover Dodson, Jan. 17, 1972, at the Fairview Church, Three Springs, R.R., by the Rev. Marion Walker. He is survived by his wife at home; one daughter, Mrs. Dorris (Betty) Bowman of Mapleton, R.R.; and two sons, Basil Ritchey Cutshall, and his wife, Marlene, of Mapleton, R.R., and Arthur Martin Cutshall of North Carolina. He is also survived by three stepdaughters, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A sister, Myrtle Fagley of Three Springs, R.R., survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale Cutshall, four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Cutshall was a member of Fairview Evangelical Church, Three Springs, R.R. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 322, Mapleton, and VFW Post 5754, Mount Union. Mr. Cutshall was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy from April 24, 1944, to Dec. 17, 1945. He worked for 20 years as a coal miner and 10 years as an electrician. Rosier June 30, 1946. Mr. Rosier preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2002. Two brothers, Herbert Ramsey and Robert Ramsey, preceded her in death, and two sisters died in infancy. Tola V. CORNELIUS, 93, of Taylor Apartments, Mount Union, formerly of Allenport, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She was born April 22, 1911, in Pogue, the daughter of the late Samuel and Blanche (Waite) Cohenour. She married Harvey I. Cornelius April 30, 1927. He preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1973. The following children survive; Blair A. "Herb" Cornelius and his wife, Loretta, of Chambersburg; James D. "Jim" Cornelius and his wife, Glenda, of Lilly; and Brenda K. Clugston of Huntingdon. There are 23 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the following children; Robert Cornelius, Jean Boyer, Helen Cornelius, Raymond Cornelius and Vivian Shank. She was the last surviving member of the Sam Cohenour family, having been preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Cornelius was a member of the Allenport United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also attended the Mount Union Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed playing the piano. At one time, she was secretary for the Bricktown Senior Citizens Center and was the former chairperson of the Shirley Township Republican Committee. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Mandy L. (Ashman) DECKER, 27, of Loysville, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in the Hershey Medical Center after losing her battle with leukemia. She was born April 12, 1977, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Harrisburg, to her loving parents, Richard L. Ashman Jr. and Darlene K. (Doyle) Ashman of Loysville. She is survived by her husband, Bryce A. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zela Brown, who had resided in Orbisonia, and Elna Appleby, who had resided in Neelyton, and two brothers, Charles Madden and Norman Madden, both of whom had resided in Orbisonia. "Betty" SMEAL, 90, formerly of Huntingdon and a resident of Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia for the past five years, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown. Born Dec. 13, 1914, in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Louise (Henry) Gers. She was united in marriage to Carl Vernon Smeal who preceded her in death in 1956. She is survived by a son, Carl E. "Ed" Smeal, and his wife, Vicki, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; and two granddaughters, Kathi L. Hagans, and her husband, Timothy, of Spruce Creek and Kimberly A. Morgan, and her husband, Randy, of Mount Union. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The youngest of 13 children, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Smeal was a member of the first Evangelical Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg She was a proud member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens singing group. Frederick David "Buzz" CROCKER, 52, of Bunker Hill Road, Six Mile Run, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at his home. He was born March 18, 1952 in Huntingdon, a son of Johnny and Melissa Jean (Foore) Crocker of Loysburg. He was preceded in death by his father in 1966. On Dec. 23, 1978, at the Six Mile Church of God, he married Linda Hitchens. They celebrated 119 seasons together. He is survived by his mother, wife and the following brothers and sisters: Bonnie, married to Armin Hellmund, of Alexandria, Va.; Johnny Crocker and his wife, Ava, Chesapeake Bay, Va.; Pam, married to John Mark Zimmerman, Six Mile Run; and Penny, wife of Carl Hyde of Manns Choice. Also surviving are a special cousin who is a sister through love, LaRue (Crocker) Hammond of Gaithersburg, Md.; and special cousins, two beloved nieces, 10 beloved nephews, four great-nephews and two great-nieces. Mr. Crocker was a member and faithfully attended the Round Knob Church of God since his youth. He was the person at the church who was in charge of the building fund and all building projects done at the church for over 20 years. He was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, Class of 1971. While attending high school, Mr. Crocker played football and baskethall. After high school graduation, he attended Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, graduating from the carpenters curriculum in 1973. He was employed by Ritchey & Luther, Saxton; Paul Clark, Bedford; and most recently as a union carpenter for Local #950 of which he was a member. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, stone masonry, hunting and especially his basset hounds. Mr. Crocker was a faithful husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He impacted many lives in his short life. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed. He was healthy and strong until July 3, 2004. VanZandt VA Medical Center in Altoona. Born April 28, 1935, in Union Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Luther and Edna (Roland) Jamison. He was united in marriage to Myla A. Shope Oct. 15, 1956, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Jamison preceded him in death Sept. 28, 1997. His companion, Mary Conway, survives at their home. Three daughters and one son survive; Brenda Jamison, and her companion, Flash Smith, of Saxton; Robin Hooper, and her husband, Samuel, of Mapleton; Nancy Arcq, and her husband, Kevin, of Robertsdale; and Fred Jamison II, and his wife, Barb, of Calvin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Krystal Leonard, Rebecca Jamison, Samuel Hooper IV, Philip Jamison, Kevin Arcq II, Tiffany Arcq, Renee Quarry, Daniel Yocum and Ashley Yocum; and four great-grandchildren; Myla Leonard, MicKenzie Jamison, Amaya Yocum and Ethan Neil. Born May 2, 1913, in Entriken, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Harriet (Hurley) Hess. She was first married to William L. Ford, who preceded her in death in 1960. She later married Carl Morningstar, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Ford, and her husband, Jesse E. Brallier, of Marietta and Kay Ford of Tempe, Ariz. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Angie Castro, and her husband, Eric, of Burbank, Calif.; Lori Oberholtzer, and her husband, Richard E., of Marietta; Scott Brallier, and his wife, Molly, of Columbia; and Eric Brallier, and his wife, Donna, of Mount Joy. Born March 29, 1913, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sarah J. (Parsons) Lamberson. She was united in marriage to Roy M. Kidd Sept. 24, 1930. Mr. Kidd preceded her in death June 1, 1968. She is survived by one son, Phil L. Kidd, and his wife, Lucy, of Mount Union, and by one grandson, one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren. One brother, Preston Lamberson of Mount Union, survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Russell C. Kidd, and the following brothers and sisters; Jesse Lamberson, Irvin Lambetson, Viril Lam- berson, Mary Bigelow and Zella Stewart. He is survived by his wife at Home; a daughter. Deborah K. Varner of Huntingdon: and a son. William L. Steele. and his wife. Tammy of Huntingdon. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Derek W. Varner, Alisha C. Varner, Heather M. Steele and David L. Steele; and one great-granddaughter, Madison. He was preceded in death by a daughter Christine A. Long, and a son, David W. Steele. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Steele was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church in Huntingdon. He was a life member of Standing Stone Post No. 1754 VFW. Huntingdon. Mr. Steele graduated from Huntingdon High School with the class of 1942. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II having served with the 666th Ordinance Arnmunition Co. from May 26. 1943. until Dec. 22. 1945. He fought in the battle Normandy and in northern France, the Rhineland. the Ardennes and in central Europe. Mr. Steele worked as a parts manager at Key Buick Cadillac, and its successor. Sunderland Motors, in Huntingdon for 40 years. He retired from Miller Auto Parts in 2002. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather and was a friend to everyone. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Russell E. BROWN, 82, of HCR 1, Todd, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday. Jan. 21, 2005, at his home. Born Oct. 22, 1922. in Conemaugh, he was the son of the late Elmer and Edith (Coy) Brown. He was united in marriage to Gazel P. Rose Jan. 21, 1942, in Blairsvile. He is survived by his wife at home and one daughter, Shirley Dyson, and her husband, John, of Hedgesville, W.Va. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell S. Brown. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Walter, and one sister, Myrtle Evanego. Michael Anthony HOBBLE, 43. of 22 Poplar St., Kistler, Mount Union, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his home. Born May 16, 1961, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Ella Jane (Parks) Hobble. He was formerly married to Traci (North) Wertz of McVeytown. He is survived by his fiance, Kathy M. Smith of Mount Union; two daughters, Brandi Hobble and Kylee Hobble, both of McVeytown; and four stepchildren; Bobbie Jo Daughenbaugh, Terry L. Smith, Billy L. Smith and Christopher Smith, all of Mount Union. He is also survived by one step-grandson, Tyler Daughenbaugh. Three brothers and two sisters survive; Jim Parks of Burnt Cabins; Marvin Parks of McConnellsburg; Shirley Neil of Blouserville; Linda Barthalow of Rising Sun, Ohio; and John Hobble of Three Springs. A brother, Gary Parks, preceded him in death. Mr. Hobble was a member of Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church, Mount Union, R.R. He attended Fannett-Metal High School and had worked for Empire Kosher in Mifflintown. He loved reading his Bible and spending time with his girls. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Interment will be made in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. Ryan Jacob FLETCHER, 26, of Bumpus Mills, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, in Trigg County, Ky., from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. Born Nov. 3, 1978, in Portsmouth, Va., he was the son of Thomas and Trolisa (Taylor) Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his mother Nov. 26, 2004. He is survived by his grandmothers, Charlotte Fletcher of Tyrone and Elizabeth Taylor of Shirley Township, and his great-grandmother, Madeline Wakefield who resides in Huntingdon County. Also surviving are sisters, Jackie Taylor and Tina Fletcher, and a special nephew, Nate Taylor. He is also survived by his companion, Kern Arrowchis, and her daughter, Errinn. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Taylor. Mr. Fletcher was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Stewart County Volunteer Fire Co. He graduated from North Stewart High School, Dover, Tenn., with the Class of 1997. Mr. Fletcher served his country in the National Guard and was enlisted as a specialist with military police, Unit 267 MB, in the Middle East Conflict. He was proud of serving his country. He was employed by Johnson Controls as a welder. His interests included riding motorcycles, outdoor sports, cars and working with mentally and physically challenged individuals. He has many extended family members in the Huntingdon County area. A memorial service was held Jan. 30, at the Stewart County Volunteer Fire Station in Bumpus Mills, Tenn. Military honors were accorded and interment was made in Greenhill Cemetery, Bumpus Mills, Tenn. Barry L. GUTSHALL, 65, of 508 12th St., Huntingdon, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, following an extended illness. Born June 19, 1939, in Germany Valley, Huntingdon County, he was the son of William and Iva Pearl (Love) Gutshall. He married P. Jean Covert July 13, 1968, in Orbisonia. Mrs. Gutshall survives at their home. One sister, Velma L., and her husband, Stanley "Bill" Shoop, of Mapleton, survives He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Jeanne Marie Gutshall. Mr. Gutshall was a faithful member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church. Huntingdon. where he served on the administrative council and was a former member of the board of trustees. He graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1957. He retired in 1999 after 38 years of employment at The Pennsylvania State Umversity, working in the grounds maintenance department, including Beaver Stadium. Mr. Gutshall enjoyed working outdoors, especially gardening, riding his tractor and small engine repair for himself and others. He was a volunteer for the Huntingdon Food Pantry and he did many things to help others. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and story telling. Born Feb. 22, 1952, in Petersburg, he was the son of Hilda (Diehl) McMahon of Petersburg, who survives, and the late Richard McMahon. He was united in marriage to Colleen M. Harman July 20, 1973, at the Church of the Nazarene in Petersburg. He is survived by his wife at home and three daughters; Jamey M. McMahon, and her companion, Tremayne Phillips-Montgomery, of Petersburg; Janice M. McMahon of Petersburg; and Janel M. McMahon, and her husband, Robert Joseph, of Norman, Okla. He is also survived by three grandchildren; James McMahon, Jake McMahon and Sydney Phillips-Montgomery. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey. Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late William Ruby and Cora (Booher) Rue. He was united in marriage to Patricia Whitsel June 30, 1951, at the Rockhill Church of the Brethren parsonage. He had been in failing health since 2000. Born Oct. 28, 1920. in Mapleton. R.R., he was the son of the late Walter Scott and Rachel Hannah (Barkley) Heaster. Mr. Heaster attended Grace United Methodist Church in Mapleton and was a member of the Sandrock Jubilee Sunday School Class for many years. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 322, Mapleton. serving two terms as commander; a life member of Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754. Huntingdon; a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society; and a past member of the Allenport Lions Club and the Bricktown Senior Citizens. He held memberships in the Huntingdon County Historical Society and the Mapleton Area Historical Society and Scottish Clan Barclay National and International. He attended Mapleton schools and received awards for seven years of perfect attendance. During World War II, Mr. Heaster served in the United States Army Air Force, from August 1942 until March 1946. His service overseas was in the CBI Theatre of Operations as a staff sergeant. He earned the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Heaster retired in 1985 from Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, after 45 years of employment. He also served many years on the board of the Mapleton TV Corporation as director. The Heasters traveled in their camper to every state in the continental United States, and every Canadian province during their retirement years. Born Jan. 28, 1911, in Arntsville, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Grace Thomas. She was united in marriage to Stanley 1. Hoffman Oct. 14, 1933. Mr. Hoffman preceded her in death Jan. 15 1987. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Joan H. Shore of Huntingdon: Stanley T. Hoffman, and his wife, Judy, of Greensboro, N.C.; and Connie Ritchey, and her husband, Greg. of Pennsylvania Furnace. She is also survived by three grandsons and three granddaughters; Kevin C. Shore, Sandra S. Kleckner and her husband, Scott; Stetan Hoffman, and his wife, Meredith; Allison Boger; Gail Engel, and her husband, Paul; and Keith Ritchey. She was preceded in death by a sister Marie Beam, and a brother, Bruce Thomas. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Hoffman had also worked for a number of years as a nurse's aid, first at Harrisburg State Hospital and later at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. She dearly loved children and for over 20 years, held meetings of the "Child Evangelism Good News Club" in her home. Mrs. Hoffman was an animal lover and enjoyed baking and reading. She had been a resident of Huntingdon since 1935 and at her Cold Springs Road home for over 50 years. Mrs. Giffin retired in 1994 from the federal government, Department of Defense, National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Md., after 26 years of service. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Paul G. "Doodle Bug" FOOR, 75, of Six Mile Run Road, Six Mile Run, went to be with his Lord Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at his home. Born May 29, 1929, in Central City, he was the son of the late Dewey E. and Lennie V. (Bequeth) Foor. On Oct. 7, 1950, in Cumberland, Md., he was united in marriage to Anna Ruth Kramer, who preceded him in death July 6, 1996. He is survived by four daughters and three sons; Connie D. Born May 23, 1914, in Three Springs, he was the son of the late Clay and Alice (Hudson) Park. He was united in marriage to Phyllis I. Watkins June 2, 1951. He is survived by his wife at home and by the following daughters and son; Ruth Haines of Sudlersville, Md.; Gaynelle Straughan of Elkton, Md.; Marie Foster of Hopewell; and Max Deane Park of Three Springs. He is also survived by six grandchildren. Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Park was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, where he served as a deacon and a lifetime trustee. He was also a member of the Patrotic Order of the Sons of America and a former member of the Southern Huntingdon County School Board. Mr. Park was engaged in farming. HESS, 92, a resident of Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of 311 Penn St., Huntingdon, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She had been in failing health for the past several years. Born May 27, 1912, in Fruita, Colo., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Allen Hess and Luna L. (Greener) Hess. She is survived by one niece, Mrs. Cloyd (Dorothy M.) Maines of Huntingdon, R.R. 4; one great-niece, Susan (Maines) Rupert of State College; one great-nephew, John Maines of Niles, Mich.; and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Hess, and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Anna) McCamant. Ms. Hess attended the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church for many years. A resident of the Huntingdon area since 1922, she attended public schools in Oneida Township and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1932. She was employed by the J.B. Kunz Co. and Owens-Coming Fiberglas, both in Huntingdon. Ms. Hess loved the Lord, watching religious TV programs and reading the Bible. He was married to Dorothy Helen Claycomb. He is survived by: children, Gary Gartland of Cedar Crest, Pa., Mrs. Bonnie Getz of Mapleton Depot, Bonnita Forton Wilder of Everman, Texas and Joyce Gartland of Newton Hamilton; stepchildren, Harold Claycomb, and Mrs. Carol Bowers, both of Altoona; siblings, Adrian Gartland of Three Springs, Elizabeth Guthrie of Mississippi, and Jo Ella Smith of McVeytown; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: siblings, Raymond Gartland formerly of Memphis, Tenn., Eileen Varner formerly of Orbisonia, Donald Gartland formerly of Newton Hamilton, and Frieda Gartland who died in infancy. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was retired from the Harbison-Walker Brickyard in Mount Union. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He liked to travel and hunt. He visited Alaska and Europe and had hunted in Canada, Wyoming and West Virginia. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Lilia R. FERNANDEZ, 92, of Panama City, Republic of Panama, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Social Security Hospital, Panama City, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 12, 1912, in Panama City, she was the daughter of the late Ernesto and Eudomilia Riveria. She was twice married; first to Mario J. Mata, who preceded her in death in 1961; then to Rafael Fernández, who preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Fernández had four children and three survive; Mario J. Mrs. Fernández was a faithful member of Santa Eduviges Catholic Church in Betania, Panama City. She was a member and former president of the Panama City International Culinary Society. Mrs. Fernández retired as a beautician after a 40-year career. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Anna Kathryn (Miller) CRAMER, 89, a resident of Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, and formerly of 1314 Scott St., Huntingdon, and 306 Church St., Huntingdon, died at 11:57 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring. She had been in failing health since May 2004. Born Oct. 14, 1915, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late John G. Miller and Mary Jane "Jenny" (Grubb) Miller. She was united in marriage to Carl A. Cramer Feb. 24, 1934, at the Abbey Reformed Church in Huntingdon by the Rev. Dr. Hobart D. McKeehan. Mr. Cramer preceded her in death May 8, 1985. She is survived by three sons; Donald D. Cramer, and his wife, Mary Jane, of Huntingdon; Gary L. Cramer, and his wife, Susan J., of Huntingdon; and William A. Cramer, and his wife Bonnie, of Harrisburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Mary Jane Hollenbaugh of Huntmgdon, Daniel Cramer of Nanty Glo, William R. Cramer of Harrisburg, Deborah K. Cramer of Shirleysburg and Cathy Baird of Hollidaysburg; and six step-grandchildren; Kimberly Bookhamer of Huntingdon, Barry L. Weaver of Petersburg, Shirrell (Weaver) Boonie of Huntingdon, Brian Weaver of Mill Creek, Aaron Weaver of Huntingdon and Jason Weaver of Huntingdon. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren; Gregory, Cindy, Jeffrey and Bradley Hollenbaugh, James Cramer, Diane Yoder, Heather Cramer, Leslie Banks, David Beck and Lucas Baird; nine step-great-grandchildren: Marlin and Calieb Weaver, Megan Little, Mikayla Boonie, Cole Weaver and Aisha, Miranda, Payton and Gabriel Weaver; and four great-great-grandchildren; Kara and Nick Yoder and Hailey and Ethan Banks. Mrs. Cramer is survived by two half-brothers and two half-sisters; John Nickoloff of Scranton, Richard Nickoloff of California and Virginia Size and Betty Jane Gaeton, both of Scranton. She was preceded in death by one grandson, John C. Cramer, in 1986; one great-grandson, Jason Baird, Oct. 7, 2001; and one great-granddaughter, Karen Lee Beck, in 1992. She was preceded in death by six brothers; Raymond, John C. and Frank Miller and Joseph. Frederick and William Pelozzie; three half-brothers: James, Jesse and Luther Nickoloff; and one half-sister, Phyllis (Replogle) Whetstone. Mrs. Cramer was a life member of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ in Huntingdon. She was a member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens, Huntingdon; AARP; Home Nursing Agency Auxiliary, Altoona; and Homewood Home Auxiliary, Martinsburg. She was formerly a member of the Triangle Homemakers, Huntingdon; Huntingdon No. 1 Fire Co.; Dorcas at the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ; and the American Red Cross Auxiliary, Huntingdon. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1934. She later attended the Huntingdon Business School. Mrs. Cramer was primarily a homemaker. During World War II, she worked as a solderer at the John R. Wald Co. in Huntingdon. She was later employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, and then as a salesperson at the G.C. Murphy Co. and Danks and Co., both in Huntingdon, until 1957. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, flower gardening, crossword puzzles and reading. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Sixth and Church streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Nelson J. Wenner officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Elda K. (Knepp) JONES, 63, of Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Forest Park Health Center in Carlisle. Born May 5, 1941, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of Mary I. (Harshbarger) Knepp and the late Melvin M. Knepp. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 38 years, David F. Jones; three daughters; Melinda "Mindy" Foltz of Mount Holly, Debbie Shoemaker of Mechanicsburg and Carole Blacksmith of Carlisle; and one son, D. Alan Jones of Carlisle. She is also survived by five grandchildren. A sister, Louise Bard, and a brother, Melvin Sonny Knepp, both of Huntingdon, survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Aubrey Blacksmith. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Child Evangelism Fellowship and was a volunteer teacher. She was a 1959 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, and Lancaster Bible College. She retired after 17 years as' an administrative assistant for the Community Baptist Church in Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Conununity Baptist Church, 360 York Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Sandy Adams Jr. officiating. Interment will be made in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Anna "Rosie" DUNN, 65, of 218 W. Shirley St., Apartment C, Mount Union, died at 6:58 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005. at her home. She had been in failing health. Born Nov. 17, 1939, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Alverna McMullen and was reared in the home of her late aunt and uncle, Cora Larue and Arthur Holderman. She was united in marriage to James D. Dunn Dec. 19, 1986. Mr. Dunn preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2003. She is survived by two daughters and one son; Debra Varner, and her fiance, Michael DeMars, of Springville, Mass.; Connie L. Fields, and her husband, Floyd, of Mount Union; and Herk Varner of Mount Union. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Dustin Heintz, Russell Heintz and Harley Moore; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Maxwell McMullen of Texas, survives. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Lee and Bernadette. Mrs. Dunn was of the Protestant faith. She graduated from Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, with the Class of 1957. She later attended the Altoona School of Commerce. For a number of years, she worked as a secretary for the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit II, McVeytown, R.R. Prior to becoming ill, she was employed at Bleyer Industries, Mount Union, for the past 17 years. Mrs. Dunn volunteered at the Mount Union Food Bank, the Huntingdon County Humane Society and J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of the Mount Union chapter of Business & Professional Women, when it was active. Mrs. Dunn loved her family and had a fondness for animals. She especially enjoyed spending time with her cats. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be made in Salem Cemetery. James Edward HOLLAND, 85, of Columbia, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005. He was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Huntingdon, the son of George F. and Mary (DeWalt) Holland. He was united in marriage to Delaine Shamblin of Neosho, Mo., July 15, 1944, and the couple celebrated their 60th anniversary in July 2004. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Marilynn Cary and Barbara Holland; a son-in-law, Richard Cary; and two grandchildren, Margaret and Richard Cary. Two sisters, Ella Bingham of Bedford and Mary Van Ormer of Germantown, Ohio, survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Philip and Harry, all lifelong residents of Huntingdon. He earned degrees from Juniata College in 1941; the University of Arkansas in 1948; and the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1966. He entered the United States Army in August 1941, serving in Europe. He served as an officer in the Army Reserve until his retirement as a major in 1965. He was professor emeritus of the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Earlier, he was a school superintendent in several communities in Arkansas and Missouri. Betty L. BUTLER, 69, of State College, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at her daughter's residence, Lewes, Delaware. Born on June 5, 1935 in Huntingdon, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Margaret Harris Lightner. She married Robert V. Butler, who preceded her in death. She was employed as a housekeeper at Penn State. She was a member of the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Susan A. Touhey, and her husband, Mike, of Lewes, DE; a son, Rusty, of State College; a sister, Grace Baker, of State College; a brother, George Lightner, of Bedford; and a granddaughter, Sierra. Visitation will be private at the convenience of the family. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 2, at 1 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with the Reverend J. Marlyn Rimert officiating. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery. Nellie T. (Glunt) LANTZ, 90, of 3 High St., Rockhill Furnace, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Sonie Whitesel, of Warrior Ridge, Huntingdon, R.R. She had been in failing health. Born July 29, 1914, in Rockhill Furnace, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (Byers) Glunt. She was united in marriage to Emory A. Lantz March 5, 1930, at the Church of God in Allenport, Mount Union, R.R. 2. Mr. Lantz preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1949. She is survived by the following children; Emory A. Lantz Jr., and his wife, Jean, of Shade Gap; Harold L. "Red" Lantz, and his wife, Rosalie, of Mount Union, R.R.; Lawanda Shaffer, and her husband, Robert, of McConnellstown; Robert C. "Lefty" Lantz, and his wife, Perk, of Mount Union, R.R.; Sonie Whitesel, and her companion, Charles Bump, of Huntingdon, R.R.; and Bonnie Buchli of Kemersville, N.C. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lantz was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Wilmer Glunt, Ruth Bliss, Blair Glunt, Amy Madden, Ida Rummel and Edna Glunt. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Lantz. Mrs. Lantz was a member of the Church of God, now the New Life Fellowship Church, Mount Union, R.R. She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg after many years of service. She had also been employed by the L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing plant in Mount Union. Mrs. Lantz enjoyed traveling with her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the New Life Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery.
