Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, as a result of complications from a November automobile accident. Born Oct. 22, 1939, in Altoona, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late James and Arlene (Park) Snair. She was united in marriage to James C. Gabert Jan. 12, 1957, in Mill Creek. Mr. Gabert preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1992. Mrs. Gabert is survived by three children; Jack Snair, Chambersburg: Sonya Leidy, Orbisonia, R.R.: and Cathy Cowan, Three Springs; eight grandchildren, Nichole Uglow, Brent Uglow, Robert Leidy, Sara Taylor, Misty Fortson, Brittany Cowan, Jamie Cowan and Zachery Cowan; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, Freeman Snair Sr., Rockhill; Fred Snair, Mount Union: Sandra Braho, Sharon; Mary Fluke; Fairfield and Marcy Erwin, Shirleysburg. R.R. Mrs. Gabert was a member of the former Orbisonia Assembly of God Church and more recently, the Mount Union Assembly of God Church. She retired from DaIlco Industries, Rockhill. Private funeral services will he held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will he made in the IOOF Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace. Fern HEATON, 85, of Morrison’s Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Saxton, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006. Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Broad Top, she was a daughter of the late MaCllen and Bertha (Miller) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Harry E. Heaton, Jan. 18, 1947, in Bedford. Mr. Heaton preceded her in death July 26, 1971. Mrs. Heaton is survived by a son, Barry R. Hoover and wife, Sylvia (Axon), Saxton; two grandsons, Barry R. Hoover Jr., West Middlesex; and Anthony R. Hoover, California; and four great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Margaret Warsing, Roberta Clapper and Robert Thomas. Mrs. Heaton was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, Yellow Creek. She was a member of the Saxton VFW Post No. 4129 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Heaton enjoyed spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Jan. 4, at the Long-Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, with the Rev. Gary Sams officiating. Interment will be in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Virginia Ruth (Hamilton) Trexler, 77, of "White Oaks," Box 294, Huntingdon, R.R. 2, died unexpectedly at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born June 9, 1928, in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late E.E. Hamilton. D.D.S. and Ruth (Detweiler) Hamilton. She was united in marriage to John Peter Trexler. Ph.D., Jan. 29, 1950, in the Allentown Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Dr. Walter Eastwood. Dr. Trexler survives at home. Mrs. Trexler is also survived by two daughters, Margaret (Trexler) Hessen, M.D., and husband, Scott E., M.D., of Bryn Mawr; and Virginia Pennock Trexler-Myren, V.M.D., and husband, the Honorable Scott P. Myren, J.D., of Pierre, S.D.; and four grandchildren, Scott Trexler Hessen and David Hamilton Hessen of Bryn Mawr and Tessa Hamilton Trexler Myren and Isabel Maule Trexler Myren of Pierre, S.D. She is also survived by three sisters, Clarice (Hamilton) Hall and husband, Robert W., Glen Mills; Lenore (Hamilton) Hanson and husband, Marvin, Southern Pines, N.C.: and Joan Hamilton, Boston, Mass. Mrs. Trexler was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, where she had served the congregation as an elder. She was a member, past president and former board member of the Friends of the Huntingdon County Library and a former member of AAUW and the League of Women Voters. A life- long Republican, she was also a member of the Huntingdon County Dental Society. A 1946 graduate and class salutatorian of Allentown High School, Mrs. Trexler also graduated as valedictorian at Cedar Crest College in 1951. She was also a 1954 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, where she was a member of the Cryer Honor Society and the only woman among a class of 150 students. Mrs. Trexler briefly practiced dentistry and co-authored numerous professional papers with her father while residing in Allentown. An accomplished watercolor, oil and pen and ink artist, her works were shown at several local shows. Mrs. Trexler enjoyed reading, horseback riding, sailing, swimming and canoeing, particularly at Lake George, N.Y., where she and her family shared many vacations. She had a great interest in British history and travel, particularly to the British Isles, where she was able to practice her avocation of genealogical study of her family’s roots in Scotland and its subsequent settlement of southeastern Pennsylvania with the William Penn family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, Fifth and Mifflin streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Leslie Papp officiating. Interment will be made in the Faggs Manor Cemetery, Londonderry Township, Chester County. Eugene E. "Gene" Walters, 86, formerly of Huntingdon and a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for the past three years, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at the home. He had been in failing health. Born Sept. 8, 1919, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Robert S. and Gertrude E. (Crissman) Walters. Mr. Walters is survived by two children, Ginger A. Favinger and husband, Bill, Easton, Md.; and E. Kenneth Walters and wife, Karen, Huntingdon; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, as well as six brothers and one sister; Willard Walters, John Walters, James Walters, Harvey Walters, Robert Walters, David Spotts and Chloe Walters. A veteran of World War II and the recipient of a Purple Heart for wounds received in action, Mr. Walters served with the United States Army 101st Airborne Division in the European Theatre, where he had been a parachutist and went to demolition school. He participated in campaigns at Bastogne, Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Walters retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, in 1983, with over 25 years of service as a forklift operator and truck driver. An automobile enthusiast, he also enjoyed traveling and taking long walks. It was Mr. Walter’s request that no viewing or public services be held and his body be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Doris J. LEIGHTY, 81, of Hopewell, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at her home. Born Oct. 6, 1924, in Dudley, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Hannah (Ritchey) Smith. She was united in marriage to Stewart F. Leightv, May 30, 1946, in Hopewell. Mr. Leighty preceded her in death June 30, 1990. Mrs. Leighty is survived by three children; Cheryl L. Miller and husband, Larry, and Barry J. Leighty and wife, Joann (Moyle), all of Saxton; and Karen K. Lemin and husband. Milton, Monroeville; two stepdaughters, Janet Logan and Joyce Shoemaker; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters: Dexter Smith, Riddlesburg; Charles Smith, Saxton; Lucille King, McConnellshurg; and Sandy Chadwick and husband, James. and Sharon Grace and husband, William, all of Hopewell. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Arthur Smith, Curtis Smith, Lawrence Smith, Robert Smith, and an infant sister, Virginia. Mrs. Leighty was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6. at Long-Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, with the Rev. Kimberly Ann RUNK, 24, of HCR 1, Box 12, Broad Top R.R., died Wednesday morning, Jan, 4, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Carbon Township. Born Jan. 31, 1981, in McConnellsburg, she was a daughter of Kenneth Charles and Sharon Ann (Runkles) Runk of Broad Top,. RR. In addition to her parents, Miss Runk is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Kathy Angelo and husband, Tony, Broad Top. R. R.; Erin Runk, at home; David Runk, Saxton; and Adam Runk, at home; a niece, Adrian Angelo, Broad Top; her grandmother, Betty Suthard and great-grandmother, Elsie Abrecht, both of Fredrick Md., and grandparents, Glenn and Nancy Runk, Broad Top. R.R. Miss Runk was affiliiated with the Trough Creek Valley Community Church, HCR 1 Broad Top, R.R. A high school softball player, she was a three-time battinng champion of Huntingdon County. She was a 1999 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and a 2001 graduate of DuBois Business College. Miss Runk was employed by the Target Corporation, Chambersburg. She enjoyed crosstitching. completing crossword puzzles, watching movies, playing softball and being around people. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Curtis A. Sylvia (Edelblute) Mitchell, 90, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, and formerly of Miller Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 2, died at 9:58 am. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006. at The Oaks. Born July 2, 1915, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Ruth (Miller) Edelblute. She was united in marriage to Raymond Leroy Mitchell, Aug. 14, 1936, in Wellsburg, W.Va. Mr. Mitchell preceded her in death Feb.3, 1993. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by three sons: Harold L. Mitchell and wife, Patricia, Lena, Ill.; Wayne S. Mitchell and wife. Sharon C., Alexandria; Larry G. Mitchell and wife Sandie, Hesston; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Edelblute Myers, Alexandria. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Marlin and Beverly Mitchell; and a sister, Harriet Edelblute) Feather. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, McAlevys Fort. She was a charter member of the former Donation Grange No. 330 and a current member of the Shavers Creek Grange and the Pomona Grange. She was also a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) and the Civic Committee of McAlevys Fort, as well as the Order of Eastern Star, Huntingdon Chapter No. 159. Mrs. Mitchell also served as a former tax collector for Miller Township. Mrs. Mitchell attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1933. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Mitchell was employed by the J.C. Blair Co., Huntingdon, following her marriage. She enjoyed counted crosstitch and quilting. COFFMAN, 87, of 1905 Allegheny St., Huntingdon, died at 7:50 am. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntitngdon, following a brief illness. Born June 27, 1918, in Entriken, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Clara M. (Snare) Feaster. She was united in marriage to Ronald M. Coffman, Dec. 31, 1951, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Coffman preceded her in death June 22, 1978. Mrs. Coffrnan is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Gibbs and husband, Richard W. "Zip" Gibbs, Huntingdon; and Pamela Beth Louder and husband, Ronald Louder Jr., Ephrata. She is also survived by a niece, Viki R Hoover and husband, Eugene Hoover, Huntingdon. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marion W. Parks. Mrs. Coffman was a member of Saint James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the auxiliary to the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754 and the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntmgdon. Mrs. Coffman attended Huntingdon public schools. She retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, in 1981, after 37 years of service in the cone winding department. Prior to her work at Owens-Corning, she had worked at the Huntingdon Silk Mill. Mrs. Coffman loved watching Penn State and Dallas Cowboys football games. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services will he held at 11 am. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon. with the Rev. YOHN, 82, of Rockhill, died at 5:42 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Aug. 19, 1924, in Neelyton, he was a son of the late Harry T. and Cora (Gardner) Yohn. He was united in marriage to the former Freda L. Miller, who survives at their home. Mr. Yohn is survived by a grandson, Randy J. Atherton; and a great-granddaughter, LaKendra Marie Atherton. He is also survived by two sisters, Alverta Durst, Martinsburg. WV.; and Joyce Krause, Orbisonia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Marie (Yohn) Atherton. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Tom, Clyde, Leroy, Fred and Edith. Mr. Yohn was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill. He served with the United States Army. Mr. Yohn retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambers burg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the Martin R. (Aller) CHILDERS, 81, of Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home, 220 Newry St., Hollidaysburg, and formerly of Raystown Road, Saxton, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at the home. Born April 13, 1924, in Saxton, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (McDonald) Aller. She was united in marriage to Samuel W. Childers Sr. Feb. 15, 1942, in Hopewell, by Pastor Paul Dilling. Mr. Childers preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1981. Mrs. Childers is survived by a daughter and three sons, Erma Weyandt, Claysburg; Samuel Childers and wife, Jane, New Jersey; Melvin Childers and wife, Frances, Hopewell; and Terry Childers and wife, Gracie, Virginia; two grandsons, David and Danny Childers, who were reared in her home; and 22 additional grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sons, Duane, Junior and Ralph Childers and an infant son. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Childers was a member of the Raystown Brethren Church, Saxton, R.R. She was a member of the Hopewell Seniors Citizens and the McConnellsburg VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Childers had worked as a repair girl at the Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg, for 18 years and worked at Scampers, Saxton, for two years. An avid bingo player, she also enjoyed dancing at the Black Diamond Cafe, Six Mile Run. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., Broad Top City, with Pastor Alfred Chamberlain officiating. Interment will be in the Yellow Creek Retormed Cemetery, Hopewell. Amy Lourine (King) BRENNEMAN, 85, a resident of the Homestead, Westminster Woods, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, and formerly of Oneida Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 4, died at 10:20 am. Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, of complications from a long standing illness. Born Aug. 4, 1920, in Avon, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Ethel (Wade) King. She was united in marriage to Robert Lex Brenneman May 25, 1946. in the Mount Vernon Street Methodist Church, Washington, D.C., by the Rev. Dr. John Rustin. Mr. Brenneman preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1997. Mrs.Brenneman is suvived by two sons and a daughter; Robert K. Brenneman and wife, Claire Bush, Frederick, Md.; William M. Brenneman and wife, Iris B.; and Martha A. (Brenneman) Jessell and husband, Robert Jr., all of Huntingdon; and five grandchildren, Lauren B. and Benjamin W. Bush-Brenneman; and Hannah A., Sophie L. and Maxwell B. Brenneman. She is also survived by two sisters; Blanche M. Puffer of Avon. Mass., and Ruth V. Ekberg, Ocala, Fla.: and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brenneman was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church of Huntingdon, where she served as nursery teacher, pastor’s secretary, deaconess, member of the choir and chairperson of a ladies circle. In addition, she was the donor of a living memorial stained glass window, located above the main entrance of the church. During World War II, Mrs. Brenneinan served as a Wave in the United States Navy. Following her enlistment in 1942, she attained the rank of yeoman first class at the U.S. Navy receiving station, Boston, Mass. She was honorably discharged in October 1945. She was a former member of the League of Women Voters, the Huntingdon Music Club, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Standing Stone Garden Club and Standing Stone Art League and Council, all of Huntingdon;as well as the Women’s League at Juniata College and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation Inc. She attended Avon, Mass. public schools, graduating from Avon High School in 1938, and attended Brockton Business College, Brockton. Mass. Following her honorable discharge, Mrs. Brenneman was employed by the U.S. Navy Department in Washington. D.C., as a personnel secretary. An accomplished artist who had several showings of her work, until she developed vision difficulties, Mrs. Brenneman received many awards and her paintings can be found throughout the United States. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9. at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Salmons officiating. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon. Kermit "Cock" Brumbaugh, 72, of Adams Drive, Broad Top City, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Saxton, the son of the late Lloyd L. and Dorothy (Stevenson) Brumbaugh. He was married to the former Joan Cook July 26, 1958, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Brumbaugh survives. A son, Michael L. Brumbaugh, and his wife, Wendy, of Dudley survive, as well as two grandsons, Christopher M. Brumbaugh and Hunter E. Brumbaugh, both of Dudley. One sister, Ivadean Becker, and her husband, Eugene, of Macedonia, Ohio, also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd D. Brumbaugh, Jack L. Brumbaugh and Thomas L. Brumbaugh. Mr. Brumbaugh was a member of the Broad Top United Methodist Church, Broad Street, Broad Top City. He was a member of the Watson & Black American Legion Post 126, Broad Top City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-56. Mr. Brumbaugh was a meat cutter at Riverside Market. He previously worked for H.J. Williams Construction Co. and New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football and Phillies baseball teams and an avid Penn State fan. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top City. Pastor Suzanne Deterline will officiate. Interment will be made in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Deborah "Debbie" Ann SNARE, 53, of Trenton, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at home, following an extended illness. Mrs Snare was united in marriage to Allen Snare, formerly of Huntingdon July 22, 1978, in Colorado. Mr. Snare survives at their home. She is also survived by a daughter and two sons; Joy Waters and husband, Chris. Pennsylvania: John Snare and Justin Snare, both of Trenton, Ga.; and two granddaughters, Nicole and Rylie Waters of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by a sister, Winnie Long of Washington; and two brothers, James Gee of California and Charles Gee of Colorado; and a nephew, Chad Edwards of Washington. Mrs. Snare was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Born in Illinois, she moved to Colorado where she graduated from the Colorado School for the Deaf. She and her husband served the Lord with Silent Word Ministries to the deaf world. Previously they had ministered in Texas, Colorado, Alabama, Ohio and Tennessee. They served 12 years with the deaf at Faith Baptist Church, Fairless Hills, near Philadelphia, before moving to Georgia. Debbie was presented the 2005 Retreat Award at the Deaf Baptist Ladies Retreat. Her husband, Allen, will continue to carry on the vision that he and Debbie have nurtured together. She will be greatly missed by all: however her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Debbie made a difference in the hearts of people she met and her reward will be great. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Trenton, Ga., with the Rev, John Smith, the Rev, Reggie Remple and the Rev. Ted Camp officiating. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Trenton First Baptist Cemetery. Frederick C. BAKER, 89, formerly of Huntingdon, R.R. 1, died at 4:55 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon, where he had resided since March 2005. Born Dec. 11, 1916, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Amos and Agnes (Corbin) Baker. He was united in marriage to the former Mildred Edith Baith, who survives in Huntingdon. Mr. Baker is also survived by a daughter, Betty J. McMaster and husband, Robert L., Huntingdon; and four grandchildren, Robert C. McMaster, Melissa J. McMaster, Sharon Renea McMaster and Danielle Marie McMaster; and four great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate familv, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Chester; and five sisters, Nellie Baith, Nettie Wasson. Mayetta Haag, Alfarata DeLong and Mabel Reed. Mr. Baker was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Huntingdon. He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas with 28 years of service. Funeral services will he held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Greg Lloyd officiating. Interment will he in the White Church Cemetery, Hesston. R.R. 1. Frank Johnston HINDMAN, 89, of Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home, Newry Street, Hollidaysburg, and formerly of 2l3 Pine St., Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the home, following an extended illness. Born Aug. 21, 1916, in Corsica, he was a son of the late Hugh and Gertrude (Johnston) Hindman. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline J. Nicholson Feb. 6, 1941, in Corsica, by the Rev. J. Hart. Mrs. Hindman survives at The Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home. Mr. Hindman is also survived by four children; Joyce H. Ayers and husband, Arnold L., Idaho Falls, Idaho; Donald F. Hindman and wife, Margaret R., Huntingdon; Doris H. Molleca and husband, James A., Birdsboro; David L. Hindman and wife, Frances K., New Albany; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister; Charles, Clair, Donald, Hugh M., Dale and Hannah Hindman. Mr. Hindntan was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former church elder. He served with the United States Army during World War II with Company B, 1124th Armored Ordinance Battalion. Mr. Hindman was a member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon. A graduate of Corsica Union High School, Corsica, he attended Penn State University, where he took continuing education classes. Mr. Hindman began working in the Huntingdon area in 1941, when he was employed as a tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA). He later retired in 1981 from Stnckler’s Dairy after many years of service. He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling to visit other family members Mr. Hindman also enjoyed the outdoors, including hiking and gardening. Ret. officiating. Margaret R. HOOVER, 83, formerly of Sinking Valley, Tyrone, R.R. 1, died at 6:10 am. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare-Hillview, Altoona. Born April 22, 1922, in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Homzik) Hustak. She was united in marriage to Charles F. Hoover May 1, 1945, in North Carolina. Mr. Hoover preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Hoover is survived by three son; Dennis Michael Hoover and wife, Carol, Sinking Valley; Charles L. Hoover, Alexandria; and Brian Hoover and wife, Barbara, Huntingdon; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, George Hustak, Bordentown, N.J. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church, Tyrone. She was a 1940 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Mrs. Hoover operated a dairy farm in Sinking Valley with her husband for many years. She also helped her son, Brian, at his business, Raystown Podiatry, until her health failed. June P. WOLFE, 73, of Finleyville, went to be with the Lord at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2006. at her home. Born June 10, 1932, in Munson, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Viola (Fleck) Singer. She was united in marriage to Rudolph L. Wolfe Jr., April 8, 948. Mr. Wolfe preceded her in death. Mrs. Wolfe is survived by two daughters, Sarah J. (Wolfe) Morrow and husband, Gary L.; and Sharon P. (Wolfe) Aller and husband. James L. Aller Sr., all of Six Mile Run: five grandchildren, whom she referred to as her ‘Bubbas,’ James L. Jr., who resided with her; Travis M. and Shawn A. Aller; and Bridget L. and Ashley K. Morrow; and three great-grandchildren. Amber M., Kayla M. and Kyle M. Aller. She is also survived by a sister, Edith Leighty, with whom she resided; and a brother, Robert Singer, Philipsburg. Jack WILSON, 80, of 5964 William Penn Highway, Porter Township, Alexandria, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, in the emergency room at Tyrone Hospital, Tyrone. Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Elmer S. and Velma (Galbraith) Wilson. He was united in marriage to the former Marjorie I. Reed, June 16, 1960, in the Alexandria Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Kenneth Duncan. Mrs. Wilson survives in Huntingdon. Mr. Wilson is survived by two sons and a daughter, Jack Andrew Wilson and wife, Mary, Yelm, Wash.; Steven Wilson, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon; and Suzanne Dickson and husband, Kirk, Jackson’s Corner, Huntingdon. A sister, Evelyn (Wilson) Hall, Huntingdon, also survives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Wilson. Mr. Wilson was of the Protestant faith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria, and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Wilson was a 1943 graduate of Huntingdon High School. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, he transported aircraft for the war movement for Piper Cub. He was later employed with Southwestern Electric Corporation, Colorado, until 1949. From 1949 until 1956, he worked at Don Galbraith’s Sporting Goods in Huntingdon. In 1956, Mr. Wilson joined in business with his brother-in-law, John Hall, operating Hall’s Service Station together until John’s death. He continued to run the service station until his retirement in 2001. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, Mr. Wilson enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid collector of arrowheads and rocks. GILL, 89, a resident of Essex House, Lemoyne, and formerly of 500 Charles St., Shippensburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born Aug. 5, 1916, in Woodbury Township, Blair County, he was a son of the late Cloyd D. and Nancy E. (Hinkel) Gill. He was united in marriage to the former Illa Roi Olson, who preceded him in death Nov. 21, 2000. Mr. Gill is survived by a son and two daughters, Robert C. Gill and wife, Colleen, Camp Hill; Denise D. Cleland and husband, David, Enola; and Sharon L. STEVER, 67, of Little Valley Road, Saxton, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident, which occurred that evening on Little Valley Road, Carbon Township. Born June 26, 1938, in Saxton, he was a son of the late Harold C. and Ella V. (Ramsey) Stever. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy M. Rhodes, Oct. 12, 1961, in Cassville. Mrs. Stever preceded him in death Dec. 25, 2003 Mr. Stever is survived by two daughter, Barbara Ann Hart and husband Timothy; and Brenda Lee Hoover, both ot Saxton; and three grandsons, Jesse David Hoover, Tyler Chase Hoover and Andrew James Hart. He is also survived by a brother, Gail E. Stever and wife, Ruth (Bolinger), Saxton. Mr. Stever was of the Protestant faith. He served in the United States Army as a private first class during the Cold War in France in the l960s. Previously, he had owned and operated a sawmill for many years. Mr. Stever had many joys in life, including his grandsons, fishing and hunting and going to work early to have coffee and social time with his friends. MILLER, 93, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of McAlevys Fort, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at the Health Center in Ocoee, Fla. Born Sept. 30, 1912, in McAlevys Fort, he was the son of the late Dr. Henry E. and Jessie L. (Bigelow) Miller. He was married to Anna (Wilson) Miller on Nov. 3, 1933. She survives. Mr. Miller was employed by the Pa. Dept. of Forest and Waters. He had his own lumber mill and later ran the saw mill at Rockview Correctional Institute. He also owned an apple orchard in Belleville. He was a 50-year member of Mt. Moriah Lodge F. & A.M., Huntingdon, and was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, McAlevys Fort. Mr. Collins was employed as a trackxnan with the Pennsylvania Railroad in the Huntingdon and Juniata, Altoona, shops for 13 years. He also worked for Harbison-Walker, Mount Union; Texas Eastern Pipeline and was primarily a self-employed sawyer and farmer in the Aitch area. Born Jan. 22, 1920, in Broad Top City, she was a daughter of the late Allison and Anna Forbes (Cook) Black. She was united in marriage to Daniel Earl Rogers, June 16, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., by the Rev. George E. Baughman. Mr Rogers preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1973. Mrs. Rogers is survived by two sons, Daniel L. Neville and wife, Colleen; and Glenn E. Rogers, all of Huntingdon; and two grandchildren, Megan Neville, Royersford; and Garrett Neville, Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by a son, Roy T. Born Jan. 20, 1953, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Mildred (Parsons) Dell of Shade Gap and the late Richard Dell. She was united in marriage to Richard Long, July 1, 1978. Mr. Long survives at home. In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Long is also survived by a daughter, Sarah Long, at home. She is also survived by two brothers, Larry Dell and James Dell, both of Shippensburg; and two sisters, Cindy Book, Shade Gap and Jo Struchen, Three Springs. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Long was artistically talented in jewelry making. She was a member of several West Virginia craft associations and worked part-time at City Floral and Gifts, Summersville, W.Va. She also enjoyed flower arranging and home gardening. Born April 8, 1930, in Altoona, Blair County. she was a daughter of the late Dennis L. and Arletta (Rutter) Wilt. She was united in marriage to Russell P. Brooks Sr. July 18, 1947, in Juniata, Altoona. Mr. Brooks survives at their home. Barnett, and two great-nephews, Gary Lee Barnett and Christopher M. Barnett, all of Three Springs, who were all reared in the Hoffman home. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Hoffman, Three Springs, and a number of other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, Aubrey Hoffman, Norman Hoffman, Lillian Greenland, Edwinna Roher and Musetta Greenland. Mr. Hoffman was of the Protestant faith. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 12th Armored Division Company C 714th Tank Battalion in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart for his service. Mr. Hoffman worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for a few years. He then cut and hauled pulpwood and retired as a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting and playing the guitar. He had a local band called "Cousin Eddie and the Country Boys," which played at festivals and gatherings. The band also played on WHUN Radio, Huntingdon, from 1956-1963. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Feb. 16, 1939, in Todd Township, he was a son of the late Howard J. and Mary K. (Fox) Frederick. He was united in marriage to the former Linda Kennedy, Dec. 2, 1981. Mrs. Frederick survives at home. Mr. Frederick is also survived by 10 children; Mary K. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon, where she had been a resident for the past four years. Born April 11, 1920, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose Garlock. She was united in marriage to Thomas Hartley Huling, who preceded her in death May 27, 1987. Mrs. Huling is survived by a daughter, Marjorie E. Dixon, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tom Dixon: a brother, John Garlock; a sister, Amanda Garlock; a half-brother, Bill Bookwalter; and a half sister, May Bookwalter. Mrs. Huling was of the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the BPOE Elks Loge No. 976 Auxiliary and the Frank P Hommon American Legion Post No. 24 Auxiliary, both of Huntingdon. Born Aug. 25, 1920. in Clear Ridge, Fulton County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Winegardner and Verna H. (Chilcote) Winegardner. She was united in marriage to Fred G. Kyper Oct. 16, 1953, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Kyper preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1995. Mrs. Kyper is survived by two children, Sheryl K. Deike and husband, Eric, Hagerstown, Md.; and F. Garry Kyper, Carlisle; and four stepchildren, Gale "Pete" Kyper and wife, Bev, Portersville; Carol Kyper, Butler; Milda Moore, Huntingdon; and Michael Kyper, Irwin; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Harold Boyer Sr., 81, of 502 Oliver Court, Belleville, died at 3:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born July 21, 1924, in Turbett Twp., Juniata County, he was the son of the late John Ritzman Boyer and mother of the late Ada Lena Kinzer Boyer. His wife, Jane Barr Boyer, whom he married Nov. 2, 1946, survives. Also surviving are his children, John H. Boyer Jr., and wife Kathryn, Belleville, and Mrs. Ann Tomlinson and husband Drew, Petersburg; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Pennel, York; and his grandchildren, Jason Frank Boyer, John Gregory Boyer, Courtney Ann Tomlinson, and Meagan Elizabeth Tomlinson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl J. Boyer and George W. Boyer; and a sister, Marian Hemperly. He served in the U.S. Marine Air Corps where he participated in numerous engagements throughout the Pacific Theater during World War II. Most of his working years were with the Russell National Bank until his full retirement in 1994. During those years with the bank, he served in nearly every department capacity and became president of the bank in 1976, retiring as vice-chairman of its board of directors. He also was active with and served various capacities in the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association, becoming president of the Central Pa. Group in the late 1970s. Additionally, he was proud of his service years to the Mifflin County Industrial Development Committee, the Lewistown Hospital Foundation, 4-H Horse and Pony Club, American Heart, Junior Grangers, Rotary, and Kiwanians. While at the bank, he was a founding charter member of the local chapter of the American Institute of Banking. He attended and completed various bank related educational programs at Bucknell, Northwestern, and Columbia universities. He also was chairman of the Pa. Bankers Convention. He was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Reedsville, where he was an elder of the church, superintendent of the Sunday school, and treasurer of the Huntingdon Presbytery. He was a trust officer of the Russell Bank and held memberships with the Elks Lodge #143, Masonic Lodge #205 F and AM, and the National Board of American Bankers. Interment will be private in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Byrd Howard HARKER, 70, of Paris, France, died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, in Paris, France. Born June 12, 1935, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Marcella Harker Pyles of Elizabethtown and the late Paul Harker. He was united in marriage to Collette Harker, who survives at their home. Mr. Harker is also survived by a son and daughter, Terry Harker and Patricia Harker, both of Paris, France; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Nancy R. Weaver, Elizabethtown; Isabelle Miller, Shade Gap; Bonnie Brindle, Huntingdon; and Thomas L. Harker, Longmont. McELWEE Jr., 54, of Bumpus Mills, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at his home. Born Aug. 28, 1951, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Russell McElwee Sr. and Jean McElwee. He was a stepson of Glen Murphy of Harrisburg and the late Alene McElwee. His wife. Lyle (Taylor) McElwee, survives at home. Mr. McElwee is also survived by two daughters and a son, Christy Lehman, Clarksville. Tenn.; Melissa McLain, Carlisle, Tenn. and David McElwee, Dover, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Seth and Skye McLain, Carlisle. Tenn.; and Colin Lehman, Indian Md., Tenn. Mr. McElwee served in the United States Army for 17 years, having served in Saudi Arabia. He was a Mason, a lifetime member of the VFW and belonged to a hunting club. Mrs. Reed is survived by four children; Robert E. Reed and wife, Ruth (Whitfield), Saxton; Mary Belle Zimmerman and husband, Bruce, Warrenton, Va.; Barbara Donaldson and husband, Thomas, Everett; and James L. Reed and wife. Allan Warsing and wife, Jan (Dale), Smithfield, RI.; two grandsons, Allan C. Warsing and Christopher J. Warsing; and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Paige and Meredith Warsing. She was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. Charles G. Warsing. Mrs. Warsing was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Broad Top High School. Mrs. Warsing worked as a telephone operator for the Saxton, Huntingdon and Altoona areas until her retirement in 1973. She was also a dispatcher for the Saxton Borough Police for several years. Born Feb. 24, 1919, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Harold F. and Helen (Greenleaf) Hall, She was united in marriage to Paul Edwin Rittenhouse, Sept. 15, 1940, in the Saint James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Dr. Edmund Manges. Mr. Rittenhouse preceded her in death June 23, 1990. Mrs. Rittenhouse is survived by four daughters, Deborah A. (Rittenhouse) Michels and husband, Dennis, Lubbock, Texas; Susan J. (Rittenhouse) Tempest, Tipton; Cynthia J. Ungruhn and husband, Gene, Taylor Mill, KY; and Kimberly K. Ida Barclay BAGSHAW, 93, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in Gilbert, Ariz. Ida was born in Mapelton and was married to the late Wilbur Bagshaw. She reared a family of seven boys in McAlevys Fort and after retiring as a custodian from Penn State University, moved to Arizona to live with her son and daughter-in-law. Ida is survived by four sons, Samuel Bagshaw, of McAlevys Fort, Charles Bagshaw, of Gilbert, Ariz., William Bagshaw, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Larry Bagshaw, of Tyrone, and by her sister, Mildred Hoffman, of Tucson, Ariz. There are 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ida was a wonderful, loving mother with an outgoing personality.We will miss her wisdom, her forgiveness, and great sense of humor. Thomas Alton SMITH, 88, of McAlevys Fort, went to his eternal rest Saturday evening, Jan. 21, 2006, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born June 9, 1917. in Jackson Township, he was a son of the late James Garfield Smith and Bertha Oburn Smith. He was united in marriage to the former Marjorie Given Whittaker, June 2, 1945, at the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Harry L. Geisinger. Mrs. Smith preceded him in death, Dec. 12, 2004. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons and two daughters; Robert Alton Smith and David Garfield Smith and wife, Marsha, all of Huntingdon, R.R. 2; Mary Ellen (Smith) Charniga and husband, Mark Lancaster; and Jane Oburn (Smith) Erving, Maytown; four grandchildren, Erin L. Charniga, Charles Alton Erving, James L. Erving and Jennifer (Erving) Guddo; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Bennett and Christopher Guddo. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James O. Smith and Marion W. Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of the McAlevys Fort United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and clerk of session, He was a member of the local Shavers Creek. state and national Grange and served as master of the Huntingdon County Pomona Grange for two terms. He also served as committeeman of the Tri-Valley Agway, Belleville, for several years. Mr. Smith served as a leader of a local Boy Scout troop. He was one of the charter members and past president of the Huntingdon County chapter of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. He served as a school director for a number of years, having served the last eight of those years on the Huntingdon Area School Board. He was a 1935 graduate of Stone Valley High School and attended Penn State Agricultural College. Mr. Smith was a loving father and husband, who devoted his entire life to the work and tradition of his family farm, Mountain View, which originated in 1835 with his great-grandfather. RENNINGER, 89, formerly of Atkinson Mills and most recently a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, died following a brief illness at 2:50 pm. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at the manor. Born Sept. 15, 1916, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Rhodes) Gearhart. She was united in marriage to David E. Renninger, May 16, 1942, in McVeytown. Mr. Renninger preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1988. Mrs. Renninger is survived by two children, Pauline Boozel and husband, Clair; and Glen "Joe" Renninger and wife, Sandra, all of McVeytown; four grandchildren, Martin and Keith Boozel, Bonnie Gutshall and Jason Renninger; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, J. Mitchell Gearhart, McVeytown. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Varner. Mrs. Renninger was of the Protestant faith. She was primarily a homemaker. Mrs. Renninger enjoyed looking for the first dandelion in the spring and eagerly awaited file first Morning Glories and tomatoes. She liked gathering cucumbers barefoot and gathering eggs and listening for new baby peeps. She split her own firewood until moving to Ohesson Manor. When winter came, she always kept her home warm with a cook stove and sat on her rocking chair and held her white cat. She still had an outside well and pump for water and used the outhouse, as she would never allow it to he otherwise. It was Mrs. Renninger’s wishes that funeral services he held privately with no visitation or flowers. She wanted both of these while she was alive so she could enjoy them. Interment will be made in the Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton. Betty J. EVOCK, 82, of State College, formerly of Huntingdon, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at her home. Born July 12, 1923, in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late Rufus W. and Leona Stewart Wilson. She was married to Peter M. Evock on Feb. 15, 1947, in Bellefonte. He died Dec. 7, 1997. She was a 1942 graduate of Huntingdon High School. For most of Betty's life, she was a homemaker. She also worked as an inventory clerk, a farmer and a business owner. She attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College. She was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. For her service, Betty received the Victory Ribbon, the American Campaign Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon. She was among the first wave of female soldiers to touch foreign soil during World War II. She was an avid crafts person, having created many quilts and treasures for her family and friends. She was always looking to learn new things. Betty enjoyed playing all types of games with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and cousin. She loved spending time with her family and extended family. Betty will be missed by all that have been touched by her throughout her lifetime. During her life, she was a licensed practical nurse, an airplane mechanic in Middletown and worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 7, 1925, in Cherrytown, Hopewell Township, he was a son of the late David R. and Lena (Edwards) Treece. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Mae Gosnell Sept. 7, 1951, in Marklesburg. Mrs. Treece survives at their residence. Mr. Treece is also survived by a daughter, Carol Wible, Huntingdon; and two granddaughters, Jamie and Janelle Wible, both of Huntingdon. He is also survived by a sister, Bonita Gerhart, Lansdale. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, David D. Treece and Veda M. Walko. Mr. Treece was a member of Saint Pauls United Church of Christ, Russellville. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Woodcock Valley Lions Club, where he had served 42 years and was past president and treasurer; and a life member of the Marklesburg Fire Co., where he also served many years as president. He was also a member of the Huntingdon County Firemen’s Association; a life member of the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntingdon; Mount Moriah Blue Lodge No. 300 F&AM, Huntingdon; the Jaffa Shrine; the Huntingdon County Shrine Club and the Scottish Rite Consistory Lodge Council Valley of Altoona. Mr. Treece was a 1942 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School. A lifetime resident of Cherrytown, Hopewell Township, he was a self-employed bus contractor for the Tussey Mountain School District for over 50 years. Interment will be made in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek. Dorothy C. MILLER, 90, formerly of 301 DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon, died at 11:53 pm. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident since June 2004. Born Aug. 5, 1915, in Henderson Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel N. and Elsie (McElwain) Miller. Ms. Miller is survived by a sister, Janet Johnson and husband, Glenn, Corona,. Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Beulah Rose, Rachel (Mrs. Harold) Nagle and S. Dallas Miller. Ms. Miller was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church, Huntingdon, where she was a member of the Mission Society Service Circle and served as a church representative to the Huntingdon Forum of Churches for a number of years. Ms. Miller was a former member of the Huntingdon Business and Professional Women, (BPW). She attended Oneida Township public schools and was a 1932 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Ms. Miller retired from McDonald Moving and Storage Huntingdon, in 1984, where she had worked as a bookkeeper since 1967. Previously, she was employed with the JC. Blair Company from 1933-1942 and he Huntingdon Grocery Co., where she was a bookkeeper from 1942-1967. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Interment will be in the Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Henderson Township, Huntingdon, RR 3. John Ross Cranor Jr., 95, of Bend, Ore., and formerly of Belleville, died Jan. 24, 2006, in Bend. He was born Sept. 23, 1910 in Ypsilanti, Mich., the son of the late john Ross Cranor and Ethel Emma Koyl Cranor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Metz, and is survived by his three children and their families: son John Ross Cranor III and his wife Lee Ray Cranor, of Walla Walla, Wash.; daughter Victoria Cranor Hazard and her husband Robert Culver Hazard Jr. of Montecito, Calif.; and daughter Melissa Ann Cranor, of Bend. He also leaves three grandchildren, John Ross Cranor IV, Rebecca Jean Hurst, and Tyler Ross Alexander Cranor, as well as six great-grandchildren, Tanner, Dylan, Alison, Greyson, Indiah and Kade. Prior to his retirement in 1975, Dr. Cranor spent 25 years in private surgical practice in Walla Walla, Wash. During this period, he served a term as chief of surgery at St. Mary Hospital in Walla Walla and was also a surgical consultant at the V.A. Hospital and the Washington State Penitentiary. Dr. Cranor attended Juniata College in Huntingdon, and was graduated from the University of Chicago. He completed medical school at John Hopkins University, with an internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital/McGill University, followed by residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital/Yale University and a fellowship at the Lahey Clinic/Harvard University. During World War II, he served as a Lt. Commander and Flight Surgeon with the U.S. Navy. Dr. Cranor's love of Big Valley began when he was a young man courting his then future wife. He returned to this area in 1993, residing at Valley View Retirement Community in Belleville until 2001. His planned interment in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery will bring him back to this area once again. Funeral services will be held privately for family and friends. Born Oct. 2, 1961, in Williamsport, he was a son of Linda (Alleman) Kent of Huntingdon and the late George Cassatt. He was a stepson of Charles Kent, Huntingdon. He was reared in the home of foster parents, Ezra Zook of BelIeville and the late Dorothy Zook. He was united in marriage to the former Brenda Lee Hutchison, Oct. 20, 1984, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Alleman survives at their residence. Mr. Alleman is also survived by a daughter and two sons, Danielle Nicole Alleman, Brandon Lee Alleman and Adam Michael Alleman, all of Petersburg. He is also survived by two half-sisters and a half-brother, Diana Ramirez, Chambersburg; Lori McMullen, Lewistown; and James McMullen, Huntingdon; two foster brothers and two foster sisters, Steven Zook, Bainbridge; Marvin Zook, Petersburg; Patricia Yoder, Reedsville; and Nancy Zook, Milroy; grandparents, Walter and Vera Alleman, Huntingdon; and mother in-law, Jean Hutchison, Petersburg. Mr. Alleman was employed as a tri-axle dump truck driver and worked for the past 10 years for Hipp Trucking, State College. Born Oct. 3, 1915, in Broad Top City, he was a son of the late Charles and Sarah (Jones) Leabhart. He was united in marriage to the former Blanche Smith, December 1931, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Leabhart survives at home. Mr. Leabhart is also survived by a son, Owen Craig Leabhart, Broad Top City; a grandson, Owen Craig Leabhart, Florida; and two great-grandsons, Jonathan C. Leabhart, Waynesville, NC.; and Hunter Craig Leabhart, Florida. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He retired in 1978 as a steel worker in the steel mill in Fairless Hills. Previously, he worked in the coal mines for a number of years. Born June 20, 1917, he was a son of the late William and Carrie (Weaver) Meyers. He was united in marriage twice; first to Julia K.L. (Chung) and then to Helen "Jill’ (Torrey) Renich, both of whom preceded him in death. Dr. Meyers is survived by a son, Amos Donovan Meyers Jr. and wife, Charlene, Volcano, Hawaii; a daughter, Ruth M. Bucke and husband, Andrew, Liverpool: stepdaughters. Jan (Renich) Barger and husband, Robert, Wheaton, Ill.; Rosalie (Renich) Oates and husband, Robert, Brookhaven, Miss.; Lyn Newbrander and husbaad, Timothy, Montrose; a stepson, Rick Renich; and 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Wayne M. Meyers and wife, Esther, Laurel, Md.; George Meyers and wife, Stella, James Creek; two sisters-in-law, Freda Meyers, Holt, Mich.; and Marcella Meyers, James Creek; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John E. and William I. Meyers. A veteran of World War II, Dr. Meyers was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a first lieutenant. He was stationed in Roswell, N.M.. and graduated from officers training school in Aberdeen, Md. He was also an ordnance officer on Okinawa. He was a 50-year and life member of the York Springs Lions Club and was named as a Melvin Jones Fellow of LCIF in 2005 for his dedication to humanitarian services. He was also a member of the Hebron Lodge No. 465 F&AM, New Oxford; the Harrisburg Consistory, Hunterstown Ruritans, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and Phi Delta Kappan. A graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, Saxton, Dr. Meyers also graduated from Philadelphia College of the Bible, Juniata College and Westminster Theological Seminary. He also attended Westmont College, Santa Barbara, Calif., and earned a masters and doctorate in education from Temple University, Philadelphia. Dr. Meyers was the first superintendent of the Bermudian Spring School District, York Springs. He retired as superintendent of the Juniata Valley School District, Alexandria. He also served as a guest instructor at Messiah College. During his ministerial career, Dr. Meyers served Methodist and United Methodist churches in the Central Pennsylvania Conference, including Mapleton, Mill Creek, York Springs, New Oxford, Hunterstown, Russellville and Entriken; and several supply appointments including, the East Waterford Charge and Roxbury. His career in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) included the Great Conewago Presbyterian Church, Hunterstown; Lower Marsh Creek and pastor of visitation at the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church. Born May 29, 1932, in Pennsylvania Furnace, he was the son of the late Reynold and Ruth (Judy) Fitzgerald. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rupert April 12, 1962, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Fitzgerald survives at their home. He is survived by four sons and two daughters, Marshall Rupert and wife, Kim, of Petersburg; Dave Fitzgerald and wife, Joyce, and Daniel Fitzgerald and wife, Wanda, all of Alexandria; Ray Fitzgerald and fiancee, Kate Newan, and Sara Schelemilch and husband, Jim, all of Huntingdon; and Donna (Rupert) Snyder of Petersburg; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters, George Fitzgerald and wife, Beverly; Ralph Fitzgerald and wife, Joan; and Missouri Seager all of Alexandria; Nancy Banks of Petersburg; Evelyn Chilcote and husband, Bill, of Mechanicsburg; and Jane Bilger and husband, Jim, of Orbisonia. Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of the Petersburg-Bethel Presbyterian Church. He retired in 1990 after many years of service as an operator for PennDOT. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on outings to the Belleville Sale. Born Feb. 21, 1907 in Springfield Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Sarah (Brown) Wilson. He was married to Bernice Brown on Jan. 3, 1933, in Hustontown. Mrs. Wilson preceded him in death. The following children survive; Eunice Hawbaker of McConnellsburg; John Wilson of Leesburg, Fla.: Bernadine Mills of Hustontown; Daphne Fraker of Fort Littleton; and Patsy Mellon of Hustontown. Seventeen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, Mae Cutshall of Three Springs and Zelpha Wilson of Hustontown; and a brother, Ephraim Wilson of Shade Gap, also survive. Ms. Grubb is survived by one daughter, Kathy Grubb Dixon and husband, Paul, of Sunrise Acres, Huntingdon, and two grandchildren, Paula Dixon Brown and husband, Jeff Brown, of Mount Union, and Angie Dixon Stinson and husband. GIORNESTO, 64, of Church Street, Saxton, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at her home. Born July 1, 1941, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Algie and I. Myrtle (Oliver) Brock. Mrs. Giornesto is survived by two sons, G. Todd Giornesto, Altoona: and Charles "Casey" Giornesto, Moscow, Idaho. She is also survived by a number of foster brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by foster siblings as well. Mrs. Giornesto was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Dudley, and attended Saxton Brethren in Christ Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Hopewell and Broad Top senior centers. During her lifetime, she served as treasurer for the local Salvation Army and as secretary/treasurer for Fockler Cemetery Association for many years. She also served as secretary for the Hopewell Township Municipal Authority. Mrs. Giornesto enjoyed singing gospel music and often performed at many local churches, fire halls, VFWs and various special occasions. She also enjoyed sketching, reading, cooking, decorating and hosting Bible studies. She always made everyone feel loved and welcome in her home. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Paul R. KRUISE, 43, of 1171 Edin Mountain Road, Six Mile Run, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006. Born in Altoona, Blair County, Feb. 26, 1962, he was a son of Marion (Morton) Kruise of Huntingdon, R.R. 1, and the late Richard Dean Kruise Sr. He was united in marriage to Sandi Kruise, JuJy 2, 1988, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Kruise survives at home. Mr. Kruise is also survived by two sons and a daughter, Christian Kruise, Brandon Kruise and Kyli Kruise, all at home; two stepdaughters, Angela Rickabaugh and companion, Dominic Aguero, Philadelphia; and Laci Rickabaugh and companion, Greg Simpson, Harrisburg; and a step-grandchild, Aleiyah Aguero, Philadelphia. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Dean Kruise Jr., Altoona; and a sister, Karen L. Johnston, Altoona. Mr. Kruise was a member of Beavertown Bible Church, Todd, HCR. He was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. Mr. Kruise worked as a diesel mechanic for Marks Bros. Hauling and Contracting, Huntingdon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 26, 1920, in Ardenheim, he was a son of the late James and Mary Ethel (Shields) Lightner. He was united in marriage to the former D. Kathleen Dougherty, in June 1969, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Lightner survives at home. He is also survived by two stepsons, David R. Baker of Newville; and Bruce C. Baker, Huntingdon; 18 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Leona Simpson, Mount Union; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Rupert. Mr. Lightner was a member of the Ardenheim Independent Brethren Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army 28th Division as a corporal. He was wounded during the Omaha Beach phase of the D-Day invasion. receiving a Purple Heart and numerous other medals. Mr. Lightner was a life member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754 and the Frank P Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, both of Huntingdon. He also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, the Standing Stone Senior Citizens and the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens. He was a 1939 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Following high school, he attended business school and joined the National Guard in 1939. Mr. Lightner retired as a sergeant from the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon, after 33 years of service as a guard and later as assistant to Richard Kelly. ROARABAUGH, 88, of 193 Cold Spring Road, Six Mile Run, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Pennknoll Village, Everett. Born in Crystal Springs, Oct. 4, 1917, he was a son of the late James Sidney and Julia (Connor) Roarabaugh. He was united in marriage to the former Bernice Beach, March 7, 1938. Mrs. Roarabaugh survives at home. Mr. Roarabaugh is also survived by a son and four daughters; Robert D. Roarabaugh, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Judy Lee Martin, Evans. Ga.; Joellen Irwin, Woodstock, N.Y.; Ronda Folk, Six Mile Run; and Tina Hoover, Saginaw, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Hess, Defiance; and a brother, Lehman Roarabaugh. Schoharie, N.Y. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Everetts, Hazel Hitchens and Pearl Hastings; a brother, Lee Roarabaugh; two half brothers, James Sidney and Doyle Roarahaugh; and two grandchildren. Mr. Roarabaugh was a member of the Six Mile Run First Church of God, Six Mile Run. He went to work in New York in 1936. He retired from the East Hudson Parkway Authority in New York in 1970, and returned to the Six Mile Run area in 1971. Mr. Roarabaugh enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and gardening. "Muscles" ANDERSON, 29, of 100 Oak Lane, Mount Union, formerly of Huntingdon, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his home. Born Dec. 5, 1976, in Huntingdon, he was a son of John M. and Mary E. (Powell) Anderson of Huntingdon. He is survived by his companion, Terri Hockenberry. Mr. Anderson is also survived by two children, Kaci Fisher and Sean Cook, both of Huntingdon; and Terri’s children, Dalton Snook and Haley Snook, at home in Mount Union. He is also survived by a brother and sister, James Anderson and Jennifer Anderson, both of Huntingdon. Mr. Anderson was employed by United States Roofing Corp., where he had worked as a roofer for the past two years. Having been involved in roofing since 1997, he was a member of the Local 30 Roofers and Water Proofers, Philadelphia. He loved working on cars and spending time with his friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Greg Harven officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Chester Clinton EVANS, 74, of Orbisonia, died at 8:10 am. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at his home. Born June 8, 1931, in Todd Township, he was a son of the late Chester E. and Maude F. (Curd) Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by two children, Lisa McCallum, Beaumont, Texas; and Chester C. Evans Jr., Illinois; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Walter Evans, Vidor, Texas. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Fred Fleming. Mr. Evans served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. ELLENBERGER, 56, of 3054 Hundred Springs Road, Tvrone, went to be with the Lord at 6:35 am. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Tyrone Hospital. Born July 14, 1949, in Philipsburg, he was a son of Eileen (Knarr) Ellenberger of Tyrone and the late Bert William Ellenberger. He was united in marriage to the former Joyce Boyd, Nov. 24, 1973, at the Grace Baptist Church, Tyrone. Mrs. Ellenberger survives at home. Mr. Ellenberger is also survived by two children, Michael II and fiancé, Jessica Hill, LeRoy, N.Y.; and Kristi Baird and husband, Jesse. Normal. Ill. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill Ellenberger III and wife, Anita. Tyrone; Stephen Ellenberger, Tyrone, R.R. 3; and Andy Ellenberger and wife, Deborah, Tyrone, R.R. 1; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Ellenberger was a member of the Altoona Bible Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and former deacon. He served in the United States Navy Reserves in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Ellenberger received his Eagle Scout award from Troop No. 27 Jan. 24, 1964, and had served as a den leader of Cub Pack No. 104 and as scoutmaster of Troop No. 104, Warriors Mark. He was a 1967 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in vocational education in December 2004 and a master’s degree in 2005. Mr. Ellenberger was employed as an electronics instructor at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center, Mill Creek. He enjoyed visits to the beach. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Lorraine M. RITCHEY, 80, of Saxton, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home. Born June 21, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William and Ethel Rigby. Mrs. Ritchey is survived by five children; Mary Ritchey, Guy Ritchey and James Ritchey, all of Saxton; Cathy Phillips and husband, Paul, Monroeville; and Bonnie Reed and husband, Tim, Ephrata; five grandchildren, Eric, Bruce, Bradley, Brandy and Kristi; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Rigby, and three sisters; Doris Niforth, Bonnie Palat and Eileen Davis. She was preceded in death by a son, William Ritchey; and a daughter, Lorraine Gates; and her companion, Walter E. Parks. Catherine E. MYERS, 77, of Box 103, Walker Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 3, died at noon Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home. Born March 19, 1928, in Penn Township, she was a daughter of the late Melvin C. and Olive E. (Norris) Garner. She was united in marriage to Charles F Myers, March 11, 1950, in McConnellstown. Mr. Myers preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1985. Mrs. Myers is survived by three daughters; Bonnie R. Palson, Mechanicsburg; and Lois A. Fisher and Della J. Myers, both of Huntingdon; two grandsons, Jacob C. Palson, New Bloomfield and Ryan L Fisher, Alexandna, Va. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters, Melvin R. Garner, Carlisle; Helen M. Myers, Huntingdon; and Beulah L. Felton, Hesston. Mrs. Myers was a former member of the McConneltstown Church of the Nazarene. She attended the Upper Corners School, Penn Township. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Myers was, at one time, a housekeeper for various households throughout the Huntingdon area. She also made desserts and pies at Grubbs Diner, worked in the food service department at Juniata College and made gourmet desserts at the former Yesterday’s at the Days Inn, Huntingdon. She enjoyed her family, friends and especially, her two grandsons, Jacob and Ryan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with Pastor James L. Blair officiating. Interment will be in the New Canoe Creek Cemetery, Franklin Township, Hollidaysburg. Pauline Elizabeth PROUGH, 86, of 59 Lower Country Club Road, Mount Union, died at 10:11 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at her home. Born June 8, 1919, in Lewistown, she was the youngest child of the late Fred J. and Nellie (Price) Graham. She was united in marriage to Dr. Paul L. Prough Sr., on June 26, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewistown. Dr. Prough preceded her in death on April 7, 1989. Mrs. Prough is survived by one son, Paul L. Prough Jr., of Mount Union, and a sister, Mrs. William B. (Dorothy) Patterson, of Maui, Hawaii. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers, Helen, Lois and Margaret Graham, Martha Harkinson, Josephine Artman, John-Frederick, Clifford and Neff Graham. "Polly" as she was known to family and friends, was class president and graduated from Yeagertown High School in 1937. She attended West Chester College, then transferred to, and graduated from, Penn State University in 1945, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She later took continuing education classes from PSU. Primarily a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother, Mrs. Prough was one of the first kindergarten teachers in the Mount Union School District. She retired as a third grade teacher in 1979. Mrs. Prough helped to organize and was president of the Lower Huntingdon County Hospital Auxiliary. She also served as president of the Huntingdon County Federation of Women's Clubs and program chairperson of the Junior Women's 20th Century Club of Mount Union. She had also been a member of the Mount Union Historical Society, Huntingdon County Order of Eastern Star, and the Mifflin COunty Area Charity League. She has also been president of the Auxiliary to the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society, District 6. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and knitting. For the past several years, Mrs. Prough donated many hand-knitted sweaters to the Pride Telethon and mittens to the Salvation Army. She was an avid football fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. Mrs. Prough was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, where she also belonged to the Berean Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Canankamp and interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Kathryn (Kring) DAVIS, 75, of Wethersfield, Conn., and formerly of Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Haven Health Center. Hartford, Conn., following an extended illness. Born Aug. 13, 1930, in Aitch, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Lilly) Kring. She was twice married; first to Glenn J. Steele in 1948, who preceded her in death; and then to John T. Davis in Nov. 1973. Mr. Davis survives in Wethersfield, Conn. Mrs. Davis is also survived a stepdaughter, Carolyn; and two step-grandsons. She is also survived by four sisters, Elizabeth Saia, Miftlintown; Rebecca Hunter, Mooresville; and Margaret Warsing and Emma Rhodes, both of Huntingdon; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church, Huntingdon, and attended the Baptist Church in Hartford until her health did not permit it. She was a 1948 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Following high school, Mrs. Davis was employed by the Danks Co. of Huntingdon and Swigart Associates, also of Huntingdon, where she worked for 19 years; and the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon. While residing in Connecticut, she was employed by the state, working for the Department of Children and Youth Services. Her loves in life were family, music, art and flower gardening. Mrs. Daviss’ remains will be disposed of according to her wishes and a memorial will be placed in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township. Huntingdon, R.R.1. Alden S. STENINGER, 91, of Chambersburg, died at 5:20 am. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 2, 1914, in Rockhill, he was a son of the late Henry and Nora (Madden) Steninger. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Morgan April 3, 1943, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Steninger survives at home. Mr. Steninger is survived by a daughter, Sarah Jean, Chambersburg; and two grandsons, five great-grandchildren and three adopted great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers; Merle Steninger, Shade Gap; Doris Snyder, New York; and Mabel Mickles and Harrison Steninger, both of Shippensburg. Mr. Steninger was a member of the Orbisonia United Methodist Church. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. Previously, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and the East Broad Top Railroad. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Interment will be made in the Three Springs Cemetery. Ruth A. MITCHELL, 76, of Hearthside, 450 Waupalani Drive, State College, formerly of 36 Taylor Apartments, Mount Union, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. She had been in failing health. Born May 17, 1929, in Waterboro, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Campbell) Mitchell. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Mitchell, Pittsburgh; three grandchildren. Alesia, Franklin and Partena; and one great-granddaughter, Sakiyah, all of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Robert Mitchell, who was reared in her home. The youngest and last surviving member of her family, she was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Lloyd Mitchell, Mae Ethel Mitchell, Izona Mitchell and Sarah Mitchell. Ms. Mitchell was a member of the Bethel AME Church, Mount Union, where she belonged to the church missionary society. Reared in Mount Union, she was a 1948 graduate of Mount Union High School. She was employed for a number of years with L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing Co., Mount Union. She resided in New York, California and Pittsburgh, before returning to Mount Union to retire. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Bethel AME Church, Mount Union, with Pastor Sylvia Morris officiating. Interment will he made in the Mount Union Cemetery.
