Jenkins, Sr. John Lewis Jenkins Sr., 63, of Box 1371, RR1 Hill Valley, Mount Union, died at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a serious illness. Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Rev. Rich Morris officiated and interment was made in Monroe Valley Cemetery, Star Route, Orbisonia. Born July 29, 1938, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Robert P. and Ellenoir C. (Hancock) Jenkins Buffington. He was first married to Hughette (Brenon) Jenkins of Hill Valley, RD1 Mount Union. Later he married Darlene (Wilson) Jenkins on April 19, 1985. She survives at their home along with two children, John L. Jenkins Jr. of Mount Union and Bruce A. Jenkins of RR1 Mount Union. The following step-children also survive: Jay H. Whisler II of Port Royal, Judy Dalton of Honey Grove, Diana Stoner of Honey Grove and Daniel Whisler of Licking Creek. Mr. Jenkins is survived by two brothers, Robert C. Jenkins of RR1 McVeytown and Joseph L. Jenkins of Niles, Ohio. He spent 25 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1981 as a chief warrant officer. He had several tours of Europe, Germany and Greenland, and also served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 107, Mount Union; a life member of the VFW Post 5754, Mount Union, where he served as a past board member and past quartermaster; and a former member of the Sons of Italy post in Mount Union.
