All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm __________________________________________ Mrs. David Johnston Mrs. Hannah (Mentzer) Johnston, a highly respected and life-long resident of Huntingdon, and widow of David Johnston, passed away at her residence, 215 Thirteenth street, this Monday morning, March 13, 1939, at 11:30 o'clock. Mrs. Johnston had been ill during the past two weeks and death was due to a complication of diseases. She was born at Mount Aetna, on August 19, 1851, and was the daughter of Joseph B. Mentzer and Lydia (McClurg) Mentzer, both deceased. At the time of death she was aged 87 years, 6 months and 24 days. Mrs. Johnston was a devout member of the United Brethren church. She was of a jovial disposition and was kind to everyone. Her pleasing personality had won for her many many friends. Her passing is keenly felt by her immediate family and a large circle of friends. Surviving to mourn her passing are two sons and one daughter: Vance Johnston and Elliott Johnston, of Huntingdon, and Mrs. T. J. Sholler, of Altoona. Funeral services will be held at Brown's funeral parlors on Thursday afternoon, March 16, at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. J. J. Funk, pastor of the United Brethren church will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview cemetery. Friends may call at Brown's funeral parlors any time until the hour of the services.
