DIED - In this Borough, on Saturday evening the 22nd inst., about two o'clock P.M., after an illness of a few days Mrs. Jane Johnston, relict of the late Rev. John Johnson, pastor of the Presbyterian church in this place, in the 70th year of her age. The deceased, through a long life, upwards of fifty years of which, she resided in this borough bore a character worthy of all estimation, for general usefulness, and enduring piety. An early member of that church of which her husband, when living, was an honored head; she continued, by works, to prove the sincerity of her religious professions - these professions, from which, she never wandered, and which are so consoling to the old age of a true believer. Truly, we can say, that she "endured unto the end," and have every reason to believe that she died "the death of the righteous." To such, death is but a release from the cares and trials of earth; and, though numerous friends and neighbors are left to mourning and regret, still they may find consolation from that abiding confidence, that "their loss has been her gain."
