Box 233, Warriors Mark Township, died on Friday, Aug. 14, 2005 at her residence. She was born on Oct. 30, 1912 at Warriors Mark, the daughter of Carrie (Beck) and Burton Nearhoof. On Dec. 30, 1941, she married William B. Johnston at Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1992. Mrs. Johnston is survived by four daughters: Dr. Martha Ann Johnston of State College; Mary Shingler and Gary of Warriors Mark; Zada Ferguson and Steve of Cookeville, TN; Willa Adams and Ross of Boalsburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnston attended Warriors Mark United Methodist Church where she was financial secretary for 50 years. She graduated from the Warriors Mark-Franklin High School in 1930 and in 1932 from Lock Haven University with a teaching degree and taught elementary school at Oak Ridge and Warrior Mark Schools. She also taught piano lessons from her home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Bonsell. Friends will be received on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
