BARNHART, 43, of Hustontown, died at 6:48 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000, at the Milton Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, following an extended illness. Born Oct. 11, 1956, in McConnellsburg, she was a daughter of Alice Reihart, who survives in Greencastle. She was married to Donald E. Barnhart Feb. 23, 1974, in McConnellsburg. Mr. Barnhart preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1998. Surviving are three daughters: Kimberly Stouffer and Cathy Jo Barnhart, both of Chambersburg; and Junell Barnhart, Waynesboro. There are two grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Robert Reihart, Belleville; Betty Lane, Chambersburg; Dean Reihart, St. Thomas; Bill Reihart, Chambersburg; Richard Reihart, Greencastle; Mary Miller, Chambersburg; and Patty Heinbaugh, Greencastle. One brother, Raymond Reihart, preceded her in death. Mrs. Barnhart had been employed by JLG Industries in McConnellsburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown,, with Pastor Daryl Elliott officiating. Interment will be made in the Siloam Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 until 11 a.m. Monday. Dennis William MIZZI, 63, of Porter Township, Alexandria, R.D. 1, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at 12:30 a.m., at his home, after a courageous two-year battle with lymphoma. Born Feb. 11, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the only child of the late Gavin and Marian (Flery) Mizzi. He was united in marriage to Dorothy R. Boyle Jan. 24, 1959, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mrs. Mizzi survives at home. Also surviving are three children: Douglas W. Mizzi, Upton, Mass.; Mrs. Rod (Denise M.) Foster, Wilton, Conn.; and Kenneth D. Mizzi, St. Petersburg, Fla. There are five grandchildren. Mr. Mizzi retired in 1979 after 20 years of meritorious service as a detective with the New York City Police Department. He was an active competitor in City League baseball and basketball. He was a loyal supporter of Juniata College athletics and played basketball during the noon break at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. He was also active in the college summer camp baseball program. Mr. Mizzi served as a professional scout of the San Francisco Giants during the 1980s; was a member of the 10-13 Club, an organization of retired New York City police officers; and served as a baseball coach at Juniata Valley High School. He owned and operated "Base Hits," a DJ service with his wife, for over ten years after his retirement. A 1955 graduate of Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, he had also attended the New York Institute of Technology during the 1970s. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Mizzi moved from Long Island, N.Y., to his Porter Township residence following his retirement in 1979. Private graveside services were held this morning at the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. It was Mr. Mizzi's request that flowers be omitted. PLEACHEER, 75, formerly of Neelyton Star Route, died at 2:20 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Sherry Pleacher, Ford City, with whom she had resided for the past five years. Born Oct. 8, 1924, in Tell Township, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Winifred (Goshorn) Parson. She was united in marriage to John W. Pleacher Jr., June 22, 1942. Mr. Pleacher preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1984. Surviving are four children, Sherry Pleacher, Ford City; Mrs. William (Carroll) Seybert, Kittanning; John W. Pleacher III, Neelyton and Timothy Pleacher, Stoystown. Also surviving are five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Pleacher was a member of the First Church of God, Kittanning. She was also a member of the Shade Gap Area Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. At one time, Mrs. Pleaither owned and operated a beauty shop in Frostburg, Md. along with a ceramic and craft shop. She was also a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Larry Messick officiating. Interment will be made at Fair Ridge Cemetery, Shade Gap. MOORE Jr., 93, formerly of 1423 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at 5:45 p.m., at Chapel Point (Alliance Home) in Carlisle. Born Oct. 19, 1906, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late David M. and Elsie M. (Miles) Moore. He was united in marriage to Naomi R. Davis Oct. 31, 1940, in Hagerstown, Md. She preceded him in death June 15, 1989. Two sisters, Mrs. Joyce DeArmitt of Elizabethtown, and Mrs. Bernice Neal of Fayetteville, N.C., survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vance Moore, and a sister, Alice Benner. Mr. Moore was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. He had served his church as treasurer for a number of years and as a member of the church board of directors. He had 39 years of, perfect Sunday School attendance. Mr. Moore retired from Westab in Alexandria in 1971, with over 45 years of service. He began his employment in the ruling department of the J.C. Blair Company in Huntingdon. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, at 2 p.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Leon W. Young officiating. PALMER, 74, of Pennknoll Village, Everett, formerly of Dudley, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Pennknoll Village. He died following an extended illness. Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Paynesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hart and Olga Palmer. He married Helene A. Johnson Sept. 7, 1949, in Paynesville, Ohio. She preceded him in death Nov. 24, 1998. Surviving are two children, Richard Palmer of Enfield, Conn., and Timothy Palmer of Wood. There are five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Frances Wilson, Glendale, Calif.; Jean Stone Willoughby, Ohio; William Palmer, Paynesville, Ohio; Truman Palmer, Florida; Harriet Wedge, Chardon, Ohio. Two brothers, James Palmer and Robert Palmer, and two sisters, Eleanor Haff and Dorothy Keil, preceded him in death. Mr. Palmer was a member of the Church of God Tabernacle, Saxton. He was employed by Diamond Alkaline in Paynesville for a number of years. He later drove trucks for Blue Diamond Trucking Co. in Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, at 11 a.m., at the Church of God Tabernacle, with Pastor Glen R. Gattenby officiating. Interment will be made in the Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, R.D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton. Robert M. "Tony" PENNELL, 85, of 1001 Mifflin St., Saxton, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at 5:45 a.m., at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, following a brief illness. Born Oct. 30, 1914, in Saxton, he was the son of the late Russell And Jessie (Zembower) Pennell. He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Baumgardener July 5, 1941, in Virginia. She preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1984. One son, Eric L. Pennell of East Petersburg survives, along with two grandchildren. One brother, Alvin "Sam" Pennell of Saxton, also survives. Mr. Pennell was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church. A 1932 graduate of the Saxton-Liberty High School, he served during World War II in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens. Mr. Pennell retired in 1979 after 30 years of service as a pipe coverer. He was a member of the Harrisburg Local Union and was last employed by AC&S, Inc. He enjoyed volunteering his time to help others. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m., at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor Todd Templeton officiating. Interment will be made in the Fockler Cemetery. Mary Jane THOMAS, 90, of 806 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at 1:05 p.m., at Huntingdon Manor. Born May 24, 1920, in Carlum, (Williamsburg), Blair County, she was the daughter of Embrose J. and Tereza M. (Rujevcan) Thomas. She never married. One brother and one sister survive: John R. Thomas Sr., St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Gladys Anne Thomas, Alexandria. Two brothers, Rudy C. Thomas and Frankie J. Thomas, preceded her in death. Miss Thomas was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She served as a volunteer teacher for the Huntingdon Literacy Council and Huntingdon Manor; was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and was a former member of the Thousand Hills Hikers. As a federal civil service employee, Miss Thomas worked with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in New York City, State College and Norristown. She was later employed by the Social Security Administration as a claims clerk, retiring in 1974 after 29 years of service. She was educated in the Williamsburg and Alexandria public schools and graduated from the Alexandria High School as a valedictorian with the Class of 1931. She enjoyed walking, oil painting, music and reading. She was an avid golfer and bowler. A prayer vigil will be held at the John B. HEARN, 95, formerly of Huntingdon, R.D. 2, most recently of 120 Aspen Lane, Westminster Woods, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at 5:17 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Feb. 21, 1905, in New Haven, Mich., she was the daughter of the late James and Ella (Shoemaker) Blakley. She married Ira L. Hearn March 20, 1923, in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1982. Two children, Mrs. Iralene Neary of Huntingdon and William H. Hearn of Farmington, N.M., survive. There are six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hearn was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Shadyside Free Methodist Church, Huntingdon and was a long-time member of Donation Grange No. 330. A graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, Mich., she was primarily a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m., at the Free Methodist Church, 2506 Shadyside Ave., Huntingdon, with the Rev. James Reed and the Rev. Joan Houck officiating. LAIRD, 91, a resident of University- Park Nursing Center, State College, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at the nursing center. Born Dec. 17, 1908, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Esther (Rosenberry) Emeigh. She was united in marriage Dec. 18, 1926, to Charles T. Laird, who preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1992. Three daughters and three sons survive: Mary L. White, Bellefonte; Dorothy J. Thomas, Pensacola, Fla.; Miriam Margaret Hoover, Albuquerque, N.M.; Charles T. Laird Jr., State College; Jim M. Laird, Warriors Mark; and Robert L. Laird, Port Matilda. There are 29 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Louise Spicer, of State College, survives. She was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, four sisters and four grandchildren. Mrs. Laird was primarily a homemaker. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday. Scott J. RINKER, 22, of Huntingdon, R. D. 1, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 4, 2000. Born June 6, 1977, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Stephen D. Rinker, and Nancy I. (Reed) Rinker Heldibridle. His father preceded him in death Nov. 7, 1997. Surviving along with his mother in Huntingdon, are his maternal grandparents, John and Virginia Reed, James Creek, R.R. 1; paternal grandparents, Donald and F. Gail Rinker, Huntingdon, R.D. 1; and maternal great-grandmother, Wanda A. Thom, Duncansville. One sister, Jennifer L. Younker of Trenton, N.J., survives, along with a niece and a nephew. Mr. Rinker was of the Protestant faith. He was currently employed by the John R. Wald Company of Huntingdon. He attended the Huntingdon Area and the Bellwood-Antis school districts. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 3 p.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, R.D. 1. SALTZMAN, 71, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Huntingdon, died May 26, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Bettie; children: Dennis, Jerry, Jeff and Loma; and five grandchildren. Born in Huntingdon, his parents owned and operated the former Hotel Penn Hunt in Huntingdon, where he also worked. A brother, Mitchell Saltzman, is deceased. Graveside services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona May 30. Ethel G. BOLLMAN, 100, a resident of Pennknoll Village, Everett, formerly of Six Mile Run, R.D. 1, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at 1O a.m., at Pennknoll Village. She had been in failing health. Born Aug. 17, 1899, in Six Mile Run, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Smith) Rodgers. She married Carl Bollman Oct. 29, 1921, in Six Mile Run. He preceded her in death March 1, 1954. Surviving are the following children: Vivian Springston and Carl W. Bollman, both of Akron, Ohio; Joan Johnston, Ladson, S.C.; Jean Hall, Akron, Ohio; Robert Bollman and Patricia Williams, both of Six Mile Run; Sandy Duvall, Saxton, R.D. 1; and Larry W. Bollman, Six Mile Run. There are 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Gladys K. Hudacik, preceded her in death. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Bollman was of the Protestant faith. She was active in the Six Mile Run Church of God Ladies Aid Society. She was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed playing the piano. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9, at 2 p.m., at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with the Rev. James L. Blair officiating. Interment will be made in the Duvall Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Thursday, June 8, from 7-9 p.m. Edgar "Phil" SHORT, 79, of Covington, Ky., formerly of Huntingdon, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Frank, in 1997. Surviving is a daughter, Shirley Short, of Erlanger, Ky. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Warren (Janelle) Frank of Huntingdon, survives. His professional career was centered in Bridgewater, N.J., where he moved from reporter to assistant suburban editor, assistant city editor and makeup editor at the Courier News. He retired in 1982 after 23 years. Previously, he had worked for The Daily News as a sports editor for several years during the late 1940's. Mr. Short had a quick wit and an exuberant sense of humor that he used to rally his troops through hectic deadlines. At home, be brought an enthusiasm to everything he did. He enjoyed sports and big-band music, old movies and discussing the latest issues. As a teenager, he wanted to be a reporter so badly, that he did gardening for the editor of The Daily News, John H. Biddle, in exchange for a chance to write stories. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post in Latonia, Ky. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11, in the New Thought Unity Center Chapel in Cincinnati, Ohio. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. McMillan Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. James J. KAUFMAN, 81, of 500 Fourth St., Huntingdon, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at 11:45 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Nov. 24, 1918, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Walsh) Kaufman. He was united in marriage to Paulnetta R. Krohn Oct. 3, 1940, in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Kaufman survives at home, along with a daughter, Linda (Kaufman) Browning of Antioch, Ill. There are three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: an infant, Theresa, and Joan (Kaufman) Corbilla. One grandson, James Christopher Browning, also preceded him in death. Two brothers and one sister survive: Harry Kaufman, Maryland; John Kaufman, Sarasota, Fla.; and Sarah Crownover, Baltimore, Md. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death: Mary, Cecelia and Thomas Kaufman. Mr. Kaufman was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. He attended the Baltimore public schools and graduated from Baltimore City College in 1936. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a corporal. He had been a resident of Huntingdon County since 1947 and had lived at his current residence since 1995. A prayer vigil will be held at the John B. Garnet L. "Polly" HOOPER, 76, of HCR 61, Mill Creek, died Wednesday,June 7, 2000, at 11:03 p.m., at her home. Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Shawnee, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Violet F. (Snyder) Hooper. She married John Edward Hooper May 10, 1942, in Maryland. He preceded her in death May 2, 1960. Surviving are five children: Bertha Cross, Mill Creek; Wayne B. Hooper, Mifflintown; Robert R. Hooper, St. Thomas; William T. Hooper, Winnsboro, S.C.; and Linda Garlock, Mapleton. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. One granddaughter and one great-grandson preceded her in death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Hooper was of the Methodist faith. She was employed by Robin Footwear Company in Mount Union, Gerbo/US Sports in Huntingdon, and had also worked as a cook and bartender at various locations in the Huntingdon area. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Raymond C. Crownover officiating. Interment will be made in the Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, R.D. 1. There will be no public viewing or visitation. MILLER, 84, of Huntingdon Manor, formerly of Williamsbug, died Tuesday evening, June 6, 2000, at the Manor, following an extended illness. Born Oct. 20, 1915, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Judd R. and Rachel J. (Walters) Stehley. She was twice married. First, she married Harry W. Mathieu Sr. in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1957. Then she married James F. Miller in 1970. He died in 1971. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Janet L. Feathers, Martinsburg; Darlene A. Ream, Clymer, R.R. 2; and Harry W. Mathieu Jr., Williamsburg. There are 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Shirley M. Mathieu, preceded her in death in 1938 and one great-grandson, Lane Feathers, died June 3, 1998. Also surviving are six sisters and a brother: Elda Kobel, Louella Barger and Lorraine Oswalt, all of Altoona; Reeda Fornbacher, Turkey Valley, Hollidaysburg, R.R.; Lola Paige, Woburn, Mass.; Cleeda Brennen, Arlington, Mass.; and Sherwood Stehley, California. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters: Judd R. Jr., Rush, Melvin, Audrey, Gladys, Joyce Petty and Alice Miller. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Cove Forge United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, R.R. 1, and attended the McConnellstown Church of the Nazarene. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, cooking and gospel music. She was a former member of the Williamsburg Senior Center. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, at the Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Williamsburg, with Pastor Thomas Kayhill officiating. Interment was made in the Royer Cemetery, Williamsburg, R.R. 2. Evelyn SPICKLER, 79, of University Park Nursing Center, State College, formerly of Maclay Street, Milroy, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 7,, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born July 11, 1920, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late John V. and Charlotte May (Mater) Lantz. She married Roy R. Spickler March 7, 1940. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1972. Surviving are two sons: Robert R. Spickler, Huntingdon, R.D. 1, and John V. Spickler, Milroy. There are four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers: Elma Devore, Bessie Forr, Ruth Woodcock, Shirley Barnes, Milton Lantz, William Lantz, George Lantz, John Lantz and Robert Lantz. Mrs. Spickler was a homemaker. She was a member of the Milroy Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the adult Sunday School class of the church. WYLAND, 70, of 2730 Cold Springs Rd., Huntingdon, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at 9:05 p.m., at the Altoona Hospital, following a stroke. Born May 15, 1930, in Boalsburg, she was the daughter of the Thomas Franklin and Belva (Stricker) Franklin, the latter of whom survives in Bellefonte. She was united in marriage to John L. Wyland Dec. 24, 1949, in the Crever Memorial Methodist Church, Petersburg. He survives at their home. They recently celebrated their golden anniversary. Surviving are three children: David Wyland, Jeffrey "Denny" Wyland and Lorrie Noey, all of Huntingdon. There are eight grandchildren. Also surviving are the following siblings: Tom Franklin, Centre Hall; Ray Franklin, Spring Mills, R.D.; Ben Franklin, Ebensburg; Colleen Cramer, Lewistown; Florence Richner, Bellefonte; Shirley Flood, Baltimore, Md.; and Mona McCabe, Alexandria. One brother, Duane Franklin, preceded her in death. Mrs. Wyland was a member of the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She had been a Sunday School teacher for many years. She retired from the Petersburg Manufacturing Company in Petersburg in 1987. A graduate of Duncannon High School, Class of 1948, she enjoyed painting, arts and crafts and traveling. She and her husband have spent the past 13 winters at Lake Bonnet Village near Sebring, Fla., where she was the captain of the Women's Shuffleboard League. Born April 17, 1906, in Newton Hamilton, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Emma (Warnick) Isenberg. She married William G. Davis October 1929 in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death March 1962. Surviving are a daughter, Mary V. Guyer of Huntingdon; a son, William G. He was united in marriage to Donna Bollinger May 13, 1967, in the Dudley Methodist Church. Born Nov. 16, 1917, in Broad Top, he was the son of the late Guy and Gertrude (Brown) Zenoble. He was united in marriage to Mona Reeder Oct. 23, 1945, in McConnellsburg. She survives at home, along with the following children: John Atherton, Dry Run; Mrs. Max (Barbara Ann) Atherton, Hill Valley, Mount Union, R.R. 1; and Dallas W. Zenoble Jr., Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. There are four grandchildren, four step- grandchildren and one great-grandson. He attended the Shirleysburg schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an artillery gunman in a number of campaigns in China, Burma, India and Africa. He was a member of the Madden-Wennick American Legion Post in Rockhill Furnace. Mr. Zenoble was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed deer hunting. Born Dec. 17, 1922, in Altoona, he was a son of the late Orlando K. and Pearl V. Keller Brown. He married Doris G. Geist, who died Oct. 15, 1975. He then married Mary W. Bonsell, who survives at home. He was a graduate of Warriors Mark-Franklin High School and attended Penn State for mechanical engineering and vocational carpentry, attaining teacher status. An Air Force veteran, he served as a sergeant during World War II. In 1984, he retired from J.C. Orr and Co. in Altoona, where he was a construction superintendent. For 14 years, he served on the Tyrone Area School Board and was a past president. Since 1990, he was a Franklin Township supervisor, serving as treasurer. He was also treasurer of the Franklinville Cemetery Association for many years. He was a member of the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas Brown of Mechanicsburg and Dennis Brown of South Williamsport; four stepchildren, Jeff Bonsell of Lewisburg, Paul Bonsell and Sue Lowey, both of Bald Eagle, and Mike Bonsell of Tyrone; two sisters, Gladys Ellenberger of Pennsylvania Furnace and Leona Endres of Huntingdon; a brother, Harold Brown of Warriors Mark; four grandsons; two stepgrandsons; and two stepgranddaughters. He is survived by both parents at the family's Logan Township residence. Also surviving are two brothers: Andrew Paul Fouse and Phillip Allan Carper, who reside with their parents. He attended Juniata Valley district schools and was a member of Juniata Valley High School's Class of 2001. In school, he was a member of the varsity basketball team. Christopher David KEITH, 30, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Huntingdon, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, as the result of an automobile accident in Florida. Born Aug. 14, 1969, in Altoona, he was the son of Rodney L. Keith and Barbara (Cherry) Keith. He never married. Surviving are his father is Lake Hamilton, Fla., his mother in Huntingdon, and a sister, Carey Keith- Sempert in Winter Haven, Fla. One son, Sean, who resides in Tennessee, survives. His matemal grandparents, Dean L. and Edna C. (Cox) Cherry of Huntingdon, also survive. Mr. Keith was of the Protestant faith. Most recently, he was employed as a carpet salesman by the Georgia Carpet Outlet in Lakeland, Fla. He attended the Huntingdon public schools and graduated in 1988 from Huntingdon Area High School. While a resident of Huntingdon, Mr. Keith served with the U.S. Army National Guard until February 1989. He later served in the U.S. Army as a crewman and driver with the First Infantry Training Brigade. He was stationed in Germany and in Fort Knox, Ky., until his honorable discharge in February 1992. "Polly" (Weller) Hooper. She was united in marriage to Merval E. Cross, Dec. 8, 1969, in Maryland, He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1973. Surviving are two children: Mrs. Darrell (Cinnamon) Bair, Mill Creek; and Donovan E.. Cross, Newton Hamilton. There are three granddaughters. Four siblings also survive: Wayne B. Hooper, Mifflintown; Bobby Hooper, St. Thomas; William T. Hooper, Winnsboro, S.C.; and Linda Garlock, Mapleton. Mrs. Cross was of the Methodist faith. She was currently employed as a stitcher by Auto Accessories of America in Milroy. She also worked as a seamstress from her home and was well-known in the area for making wedding dresses. A graduate of Scotland School for Veterans' Children in Scotland, Pa., she graduated in 1966 and was valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Cross enjoyed her granddaughters, tracing family genealogy and working on her home computer. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Robert E. Born Jan. 24, 1911, in Homestead, he was a son of the late J. Newton and Ida (Morrow) Smith. He was married to the former Stella Berrier June 14,1933, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County. She survives at Friends Home, 147 W. State St., Kennett Square. Two sons survive: Gary P. Smith and Jay N. Smith, both of West Chester. There are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Smith was a member of the Dilworthtown Presbyterian Church for many years and was also a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap. He also belonged to the Shade Gap Lions Club and Cromwell Lodge No. 572, F&AM, Orbisonia. He retired from the Penn Central Railroad as an engineer after 30 years of service. Born Dec. 16, 1917, in Oliver Township, she was a daughter of the late Caleb A. and Tillie A. (Miller) Harshbarger. Her husband, F. Ray Hesser, whom she married Sept. 23, 1944, preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1984. Surviving are the following children: Fern E. Moist Sr., McVeytown, R.R. 2; Mrs. John (Sarah Jane) Allison, Reedsville; Frederick R. Hesser Jr., and Franklin N. Hesser, both of Lewistown, R.R. 2. She is also surviving by the following brothers and sisters: Samuel Harshbarger, Mount Union, R.R. I;. Lorrna Moist, McVeytown, R.R. 2; Wilbur, Harshbarger, Mifflintown, R.R. 1; Mary Knepp, Huntingdon, R.R. 3; and Bessie Ronk, McVeytown., She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and two grandchildren. Mrs. Hesser was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the Work and Win Sunday School Class. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. EMERY, 71, of Box 243, Gallagher St., Mount Union, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, in the emergency room of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. His death was unexpected. Born Sept. 22, 1928, in Allenport, Mount Union, R.R. 2, he was the son of the late Ross C. and Mabel (Flegal) Emery. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae (Harman) Emery Sept. 27, 1948, in Allenport. Mrs. Emery survives at home, along with the following children: Mrs. Bernard (Anna M.) Parrish, Mt. Washington, Ky.; Robert C. Emery, Mount Union, R.R. 2; Mrs. Robert (Susan K.) Fisher, Mount Union, R.R. 2; and Mrs. Ron (Jennie R.) Singer, Mount Union, R.R. 1. There are seven grandchildren. One sister, Anna M. Stuby of Mount Union, R.R. 2, also survives. He was preceded in death by a stillborn son and two sisters: Gladys V. Meloni and Lela M. Harman. Mr. Emery was of the Protestant faith. He retired in 1994 from the custodial staff of the Mount Union Area School District, where he had worked at the Mount Union and Shirley Township elementary school. In 1973, he retired from Letterkenny Ordinance Depot in Chambersburg after 23 years as a mechanic. He was a member of the board of the Allenport Lions Club. Surviving are her husband, Michael Kost, whom she married March 27, 1981 (?), and the following children: Mrs. Richard (Paula) Dawson, East Taylor Township; and Joan Hemsley, Conemaugh. Helen Mae BUCHANAN, 86, of Lewistown, R.D. 6, formerly of Mapleton and Mount Union, died at 8:23 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2000, at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born Aug. 2, 1913, in Mapleton, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Nannie Mae (Henderson) Buchanan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. One cousin, Dottie Peters of Mechanicsburg, survives. Miss Buchanan was a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mapleton. At the church, she had been a member of the Cheerful Givers Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She served as church pianist there for 30 years and also served as the pianist for the combined choir of the Trinity and Grace United Methodist churches for 20 years. She was first married to Harold J., King, who preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1967. She later married William Clark, who preceded her in death April 5, 1998. Born July 29, 1924, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Queen (Kreiger) McElwee. She was united in marriage to Frank W. Foore, who preceded her in death March 1, 1977. Born Dec. 17, 1931, in Orbisonia, he was a son of the late Grover S. and Gertrude (Thompson) Winnick. He was united in marriage to Laura G. Himes Dec. 23, 1974, in Elkton, Md. Mrs. Winnick survives in Elkton, Md. There are two daughters and four stepchildren: Diana M. Rumsey, Elkton, Md.; Betty Jean Simpson, Lake City, Fla.; Debra L. Van Dan, Delaware City, Del.; Brian D. Long and Donna L. Fay, both of Newark, Del.; and William Long III, Oklahoma. There are ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers survive: Gladys Witowski, Saxton; Genevieve Jenkins, Huntingdon; Gerald James Winnick, Rising Sun, Md.; and George Winnick, Three Springs. Mr. Winnick was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, Huntingdon; Madden- Wennick American Legion Post No. 518, Rockhill Furnace; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon. He retired in 1988 from Chrysler Corp., Newark, Del. after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. BONSELL, 69, of 523 W. 13th St., Tyrone, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at 12:50 p.m., at the Altoona Hospital. Born May 16, 1931, in Tyrone, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Anna (Husak) Bonsell. He was united in marriage to Annis Dayton May 25, 1951, in Tyrone. Mrs. Bonsell survives at home. Surviving are three brothers and one sister: Gerald E. Bonsell, Tyrone; Milton E. Bonsell, Altoona; Richard H. Bonsell, Louisville, Ky.; and May Gingerich, Altoona. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas I. Bonsell Aug. 18, 1999, a granddaughter, Candi, in May 1991, and one sister. The Rev. Mr. Bonsell was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1950 and retired in 1990 as supervisor of production scheduling for PPG Industries, Tipton Plant. He was a member of the Central Pennsvivania Conference of the United Methodist Church and had been serving as pastor of the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church for the past 12 years. He had previously served as pastor of the Glasgow Larger Parish for 22 years. He was a member of the Coalport Lodge F&AM. Mr. Keppler survives at home, along with two children: Kimberlee Keppler, at home, and Ronald "Tony" Lalli, Hesston, R.D. There are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The following siblings survive: Thelma Gill and Josephine Whitsel, both of Huntingdon; Betty Gardner, Cottage, Petersburg, R.D. 1; Joe Lalli, Huntingdon; Frank Lalli, Tyrone; and Roy Lalli, Cottage, Petersburg, R.D. 1. Several nieces and nephews survive. Two brothers, Kenneth and Frank, preceded her in death. Mrs. Keppler was a member of the Mooresville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the World War I Auxiliary VFW Post. No. 1754 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 24; Women of the Moose No. 220 and Standing Stone Senior Citizens Center. She retired from Elco Corporation in Huntingdon in 1992, after 30 years of service. She was a 1949 graduate of Juniata Valley High School. D. 4, died unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000 at her home. Born Dec. 5, 1927, at the family farm in Penn Township, Hesston, she, was a daughter of the late, Rueben Merle and Eva Eleanor (Hoover) Hoover. She was first married to James Franklin Herbster, June 1945, at the United Church of Christ, Marklesburg. Mr. Herbster preceded her in death in September 1955. She. was then married to Nicholas Earl Hetrick June 1, 1963, in Elizai)tth City, N.C., by the Rev. C. Graham Nickens. Mr. Hetrick preceded her in death April 16, 1997. Surviving are a son, Alan H. Herbster, Harrisburg and one grandson. A sister, Marie B. Collins, Hampton, Va., also survives. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Gary James Herbster (Jan. 27, 1948) and Merle Henry Herbster (Oct. 30, 1953) and an infant daughter (June 10, 1949). Mrs. Hetrick was a member and elder of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hesston. She was also a member of Huntingdon Business and Professional Women, where she had received numerous awards including the coveted "Woman of the Year" award; Soroptomist Club; Elks Auxiliary BPOE #976, treasurer; Friends of the Huntingdon County Library, treasurer; Women of the Moose Lodge #220; Smithfield Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary for 18 years as an active member of the "kitchen crew" and a staunch supporter and worker for all fire company activities; Lincoln Grange #914; Huntingdon County Humane Society; Weatherization, Inc., board president; Employment and Training board; Home Nursing Agency Board and Huntingdon Advisory Board; Shenecoy Sportsmen's Association; board member and former chairperson of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; American Legion Auxiliary; Smithfield Township Economic Development Corporation, secretary/treasurer; Huntingdon County Task Force, township representative. She received many other awards for her hard work and dedication to the countless volunteer efforts in which she participated. She was awarded the prestigious annual "Jo" Award for her countless contributions to enhance human services in the county. An active volunteer and worker, she was involved in a variety of other organizations and programs including but not limited to those relating to farm, social, senior citizen, aging, service and school issues. A graduate of Huntingdon High School Class of 1945, Mrs. Hetrick was employed by Valley Rural Electric Cooperative from 1958-66 and was later employed as the corporate secretary for D.W. Miller, Inc. from 1966 to 1984. In the general election of 1983, she became the first woman to be elected Huntingdon County Commissioner. She served in that capacity from January 1984 to December 1987. During her term as commissioner, she served as the county representative for Area Agency on Aging, Home Nursing Agency and the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board. Born March 26, 1919, in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Sedlock) Pavlicko. He was united in marriage to Sandra L. Smith May 23, 1982, in Hopewell. Surviving are his wife, at home, and one daughter, Michelle P. Jamerson of Dacula, Ga. Also surviving are the following siblings: Kay MacAluso, Oakmont, Margaret Hubbard,, Michigan; Frances Wulf, Blanchard, Mich.; Helen Stevenson, Cooksville, Tenn.; Pauline Pavlicko, Washington, D.C.; Michael Pavlicko, Mount Clemens, Mich.; and Anthony Pavlicko, Brandon, Fla. Mr. Pavlicko was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Dudley. He was a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring in 1965. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
