Born March 4, 1922, in Cresson, he was the son of the late George and Helen (Preplett) Husick. He is survived by three sons and a daughter: Joseph Husick Jr., LaPlata, Md.; John Husick, Saxton; Michael Husick, Dellray, Ohio; and Lisa Lapier, Fredericksburg, Va. Eight Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive. Three sisters and a brother survive: Annie Lopata, Martinsburg; Susie Surdis, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Helen Winters, Baltimore, Md.; and George Husick, Saxton. A grandson, Joseph Husick III, preceded him in death. Mr. Husick was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot April 1968. Later, he was the retired owner of Husick Demoliton and a partner in Husick Construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II as a private in the European Theatre of Operations in the 614 Medical Clearing Co. During his lifetime, he enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Pittsburgh Steelers games. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top. with Pastor Lanny Hoover officiating. Interment will be made in the Broad Top IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top, with full military honors accorded. Margaret E. "Pat" BLACK, 83, of 165 Jean Blvd., Lewisburg, a former resident of Alexandria until 1957, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at River Woods, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident since September 2001. born June 19, 1918, in Alexandria, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Arleen A. (Voltz) Patterson. she was married to Robert H. Black, vice president of customer relations at Citizens Electric Company, who preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2000, after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by a son, Robert L. Black of Selinsgrove, R.R. 2, and four grandchildren. A sister, Frances Baker, of Alexandria, survives. Mrs. Black was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield, where she had been a Sunday School teacher in the primary department. Before moving to Lewisburg, she was organist at the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Huntingdon, where she was organist of the Marshal Choir and she also volunteered at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village. A 1936 graduate of Alexandria High School, she retired in 1980 after 19 years of employment at Linntown Elementary School. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and spending time with her husband at the Sand Run Hunting Club. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield, with the Rev. Donald Slaybaugh officiating. Interment will be made at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Laura A. FOOR, 91, of Pennknoll Village, Everett, formerly of Six Mile run, died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Pennknoll Village, following an extended illness. Born Oct. 16, 1910, in Wood, she was the daughter of the late Rees and Minnie (Swope) Watkins. She was united in marriage to Paul L. Foor Oct. 23, 1936. Mr. Foor preceded her in death Jan. 23. 1999. She is survived by 11 children: Lloyd Noel and Dennis Foor, both of Cedartown, Ga.; Neil Foor, Three Springs; Vaughn Foor, Oak Harbor, Wash.; Mrs. Ray (Shelvy) Corbin, Cassville; Mrs. William (Margaret) Hitchens, Dillsburg; Mrs. Ron (Carlo) Whitley, Rocky Mount, N.C.; Mrs. Donald (Gail) Foster, Mary Jane Corle, both of Everett; Mrs. Willis (Fay) Wible, Wells Tannery; and John Foor, Needmore. Twenty-six grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren survive, as do ten step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. A son, Lorn Foor, preceded her in death. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by 17 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Foor was a member of Beavertown Bible Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 37 years and a member of Senior Life. During her lifetime she was primarily a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor James S. Thomas officiating. Interment will be made in the Rays Cove Christian Cemetery, Everett. Lynne G. RICE, 62, of 1006 Lincoln Ave., Tyrone, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born Feb. 24, 1940, in Tyrone, she was the daughter of William B. and Rosella M. (Burwell) Glenn. She was united in marriage Sept. 24, 1960, to John D. Rice at the First Presbyterian Church of Tyrone. Mr. Rice survives at their home. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Julie L.) Decker of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Kevin (Jill E.) Steffen of Halifax; and by five grandchildren. Two brothers and a a sister survive: Dr. William B. Glenn Jr. of Boone, N.C.; Gerald B. Glenn of Rochester, N.Y.; and Helen L. Evans of Tyrone, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rice was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Tyrone where she was a member of the Mariners group. She had the honor of annually sewing together the First Presbyterian Church quilt. She was a member of the National Audubon Society, Blair County Republican Committe, Pa. Bluebird Society and the National Arbor Day Foundation. She was a former member of the Tyrone Area School Board. A 1958 graduate of Tyrone High School, she was a former telephone operator for Bell Telephone and later was the office manager for the James W. Hoover State Farm Insurance Agency of Tyrone. She was a talented seamstress, having designed many prom and wedding creations for area women. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Robert E. Dunkelberger and Matthew Lake officiating. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Peter L. "Petey" RINKER, 27, of Newton Hamilton, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at UPMC Presbyerian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He had been hospitalized there since October. Born Oct. 23, 1974, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Judy P. (Sunderland) Rinker of Lewistown and Oshel Martin Rinker Jr. of Roaring Spring. He is survived by his companion, Misty J. Worthy and his maternal grandparents, Clay and Gloria Sunderland of Newton Hamilton. A sister, Pam Rinker of Newton Hamilton survives, as well as a step-sister, Carli J. Rinker, and a step-brother, William Rinker, both of Roaring Spring. A niece and a nephew survive. Mr. Rinker was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed fishing and watching WWF. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially following Jeff Burton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Christopher Heinlen officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Ada F. HEFFNER, 91, a resident of Valley View Terrace Apartments, Union Twp., Belleville, since 1995, formerly a resident of Huntingdon, first on Moore Street and then at her Bryantwood home for nearly 50 years, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at her residence. Born Nov. 4, 1910, in Osterburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Calvin and Amanda (Imler) Deffibaugh. She was married to R. Merle Heffner, Dec. 15, 1945, at the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, with the Rev. O.B. Poulson and Frederick Moore officiating. Mr. Heffner preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1994. She is survived by a son, Gary Miller, of Pasedena, Md. A granddaughter and several nephews survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. J. Irvin Deffibaugh, and a sister, Mrs. Blain (Sue) Mateer. Mrs. Heffner was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Osterburg. She was an active volunteer and involved in the church life at Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a graduated of Bedford High School, Class of 1929, and from J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital of Nursing with the Class of 1933. Although she was primarily a homemaker following her marriage to Mr. Heffner, an attorney and former judge of Huntingdon County, librarian of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for a few years prior to moving to Norristown Hospital to work as a surgical nurse. She received training in anesthesiology from Jefferson Hospital and returned to Norristown Hospital to work in the emergency department as a registered nurse/anesthesiologist. After her marriage, she did volunteer work at the church and various other organizations in the community. She was an avid bridge player and she did many hours of volunteer work both on a public and private level. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge St., Smithfield Twp, Huntingdon, with the Revs. C. Rayvon Hilliard and Myrna Y. Speck officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Garden, Walker Twp., Huntingdon. Jessica Violet GONGLOFF, 16, of James Creek, R.R. 1, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident about 9:30 p.m. in Lincoln Twp. Born Aug. 16, 1985, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of David Brian Gongloff of Hesston and Cathy Ann Porcelli of Huntingdon, who survive. In addition to her parents, Miss Gongloff is survived by her step-mother, Vickie Gongloff of Hesston, and her grandparents, Kenneth L. and Shirley R. Gongloff of James Creek and Fiore and Maxine Porcelli of Chambersburg. A sister, Angela Cathleen Gongloff of Huntingdon, survives. Miss Gongloff attended Zion United Church of Christ in Marklesburg. She was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and had been residing with her grandparents in James Creek. She just completed her junior year at Huntingdon Area High School, where she was a member of the field hockey and softball teams. She also served as manger of the track and field team and was a member of Future Business Leaders of America and the French Club. She served on the prom committee and loved spending time with friends. In her younger years, she was a Woodcock Valley Colts cheerleader. Miss Gongloff had been employed as a hostess at The Bistro at Lake Raystown Resort. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Rd., Smithfield Twp, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Carol Rowe officiating. Interment will be made in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Russellville. Geraldine (Arnold) ROSENSTEEL, 92, of Mount Union, died at 6:51 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, following a brief illness. Born June 10, 1909, in Tuscarora Twp., Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Minta (Kelly) Arnold. She was married to J. Arthur Rosensteel June 29, 1962. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1965. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Donna) Bilger of Mount Union. Two grandchildren survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Rosensteel was a member of the Allenport United Methodist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir and the ladies' Sunday School class. She attended the Kistler and Mount Union schools. During her lifetime, she was primarily a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Christopher Heinlein officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. David John PATTON, 20, of Mapleton, R.R. 1, was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, from injuries he received in an auto accident on Route 522, near Shade Gap, Dublin Twp. Born June 6, 1982,in Willingboro, N.J., he was the son of C. Robert Jr. and Cynthia L. (Free) Patton, of Marathon, Fla. He was the grandson of Gail Free, Mapleton, the late Shriley Free, Carl and Vera Mae Patton and the late Betty Patton. He is survived by two sisters: Tiffany J. Patton, Mapleton, and Mrs. Jessie (Jill K.) Yablonski, McConnellsburg. A sister, Lisa Gail Patton, preceded him in death. Mr. Patton was a member of Bowman's Chapel United Methodist Church, Mapleton. He was a 2001 graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School and had just completed his freshman year at Penn State University, Altoona Campus. He was an avid roller hockey player, enjoyed working on his Mustang and was a certified scuba diver. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be made in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton. Philip Henry SHERIDAN, 75, of 2913 Chapel Hill Road, Huntingdon, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a lengthy illness. Born March 28, 1927, in Pittston, he was the son of the late John and Marjorie Sheridan. He was united in marriage to Nancy (Thomas) MacDonald Feb. 17, 1962, in Hollidaysburg. Mrs. Sheridan survives at home. He is survived by a daughter, Carole Ann Sheridan of North Hutchinson Island, Fla., and the following stepchildren: S. Wade MacDonald, McVeytown; Susanne Snare and William MacDonald Jr., both of Huntingdon; and Pamela Rinker, North Royalton, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive. A grandson, Cortney Stewart, preceded him in death. A brother, James Sheridan, of Hollidaysburg, survives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie, and a brother, John. Mr. Sheridan graduated from Pittston High School in 1945. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Training School, Hershey, in April 1950. He spent most of his service years at the Huntingdon Pennsylvania State Police station. Sgt. Sheridan retired Dec. 28, 1983, after 33 years of service, as the station commander, a position he had held since April 17, 1975. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46. At Mr. Sheridan's request, there will be no public viewing or service. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family. Elmer E. "Red" RUTTER, 81, of 48 Colonial Drive, Horseheads, N.Y., died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Elcor Health Services. Born Sept. 9, 1920, in McVeytown, he was the son of the late McCllean G. and Margaret E. (Lyter) Rutter. He married Lorma Emery July 17, 1952. They would have celebrated their 50 anniversary this year. Mrs. Rutter survives at their New York home. He is survived by two daughters, Dixie Carlin of Fredericksburg, Va. and Marilyn Bubb of Sierra Vista, Ariz. Two grandchildren survive in Fredericksburg, Va. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Denton (Mary) Roseberry, Burnt Cabins; Goldie Graziano, Harrisburg; Clarence Rutter, Mapleton; Mrs. John (Betty) Kirkendall, Elmira Heights, N.Y.; Mrs. Charles (Anne) Shingler, Mill Creek; McCllean Rutter, Newton Hamilton; Violet Hughes, Allenport; Robert Rutter, Corning, N.Y.; and Mrs. Jack (Annette) Rutter, Elmira, N.Y. Mr. Rutter retired in 1985 as a machinist at Kennedy Valve after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. A former baseball player, he was proud of his baseball achievements, having played and once been invited to play professionally. One of his fond memories was that his team won the Mount Union baseball championship. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home, 1004 Lake St., Elmira, N.Y., with the Rev. Larry Appenzeller officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors accorded. Mildred J. (Brake) BIGLER, 87, of Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon, formerly of Chambersburg, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor. She had been a resident of Huntingdon since 1995. Born Nov. 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice G. (Miller) Brake. She was united in marriage to Ellis J. Bigler Feb. 7, 1940, at the Second Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. She preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by a daughter and two sons: Bonnie L. (Bigler) Short and Edward J. Bigler, both of Chambersburg; and Joseph E. Bigler, Huntingdon. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Bigler was a member of the Second Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. She was educated in the public schools of Chambersburg and graduated from Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1932. During her lifetime, she was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed reading and playing bingo. A memorial service will be held in Chambersburg at a later date. At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Gary Luke YOUNG, 61, of HCR 1, Todd, died at 11:34 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at the Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, Ohio. He had been participating in a coon hunting competition as part of the 27th Annual English Days in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Born Aug. 25, 1940, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Freda Grace (Barnett) Young. He was married to Judy Rinker Feb. 16, 1963. Mrs. Young survives at their home. A son and a daughter survive: Donald Brian Young of Allensville and Lisa Ann Smith of Todd. Four grandchildren survive. He is survived by three brothers and four sisters: Donna G. Cirko, Broad Top; Robert F. Young, Cassville; Glenn E. Young, James Creek; Mary M.E. Young, Enola; John D. Young, Huntingdon; Marlene K. Theys, and Darlene F. Oswald, both of Todd. Mr. Young was a member of the Trough Creek Community Church, Broad Top. He was a member of the Cromwell Lodge No. 572, Free and Accepted Masons, Orbisonia; the National Rifle Association; a life member of the North American Hunting Club; the Rocky Ridge Sportsmen's Club; the Professional Engineer's Society; the Professional Surveyors Society; the English Breeders and Fanciers Association; Pennsylvania Night Hunters; and a member of the Hustontown, Blue Knob, Shade Mountain and Juniata Coon Hunters. A 1958 graduate of Robertsdale High School, he attended Shippensburg University and Penn State University. He worked for 10 years with Penn DOT in the Engineering program. He owned and operated Young's Engineering and Surveying, Todd, for the past 30 years. He was a registered professional engineer, a registered professional surveyor and a registered sewage enforcement officer. He was currently serving as engineer for the East Broad Top Railroad, Cass Twp., Broad Top Twp. and consulting engineer for Cassville Borough. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed hunting deer, elk and coon. He was a regular participant in coon hunting competitions both locally and throughout the United States. He had won numerous trophies and awards. He played baseball in the Huntingdon County Baseball League for many years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1960-1966. He spent two years in Alaska as a tech analyst. He was discharged as a specialist 4th class. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Trough Creek Community Church, Broad Top, with Pastor David Bailey officiating. Cromwell Lodge Free and Accepted Masons will conduct a memorial service at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be made in Trough Creek Cemetery, Todd. Andrew W. O'DONNELL, 52, of 1604 Eleventh St., Altoona, formerly of Huntingdon, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at his residence. Born April 18, 1950, in Henderson Twp., Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Kenneth N. and Mazzie (Hockenberry) O'Donnell. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Harvey L. O'Donnell, HCR, Mill Creek; Judy E. Glasgow, Mapleton; Robert N. O'Donnell, Mill Creek; John W. O'Donnell, Huntingdon; and Debra K. O'Donnell, Mill Creek. Mr. O'Donnell was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company Social Club. He was a graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1970. At one time, he had been a delivery driver for The Daily News, and was a gas station attendant in Mill Creek until retiring on disability. A public memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, June 11, at the Ardenheim Independent Brethren Church, Huntingdon, R.R. 3, with the Rev. Myers Kimmel officiating. Rachel Pearl MAKSINCHAK, 81, of Six Mile Run, R.R. 1, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at her home, following an extended illness. Born April 24, 1921, in Hopewell, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie (Foor) Musser. She was married to Stephen Maksinchak July 7, 1938, in Huntingdon. He preceded her in death Jan. 12. 1987. She is survived by three children: Stephen Maksinchak, Chambersburg; Randy Maksinchak, Waterfall; and Debra Peters, Six Mile Run, as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. An infant son and a daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by four brothers and one sister: Harvey Musser, St. Petersburg, Fla.; the Rev. Jesse Musser, Six Mile Run; James Musser, Maryland; Alfred Musser, Broad Top City; and Shirley Eichelberger, Hopewell. Numerous nieces and nephews survive. A brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Maksinchak was a member of the Riddlesburg Bible Church. She was a member of the Hopewell Senior Citizens. She attended Harrisburg Area Community College and retired from Messiah Home, Harrisburg, in 1977, after 12 years as a nurses aid. She enjoyed crocheting afghans. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Riddlesburg Bible Church, with the Revs. Jesse Musser and Ron Forrester officiating. Interment will be made in Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run. Vera I. HUSICK, 82, of Pennknoll Village, formerly of Hopewell, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Pennknoll Village, Snake Spring Twp., following an extended illness. Born July 18, 1919, in Lakemont, she was the daughter of the late George S. and Bertha M. (Clayton) Lybarger. She was married to Mike Husick in 1962. He preceded her in death May 1977. Two sons survive: Larry Foster of Kissimmee, Fla., and Francis Foster of Six Mile Run. Seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren survive. A daughter, Jean Gaston, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mildred Brodrick, Orlando, Fla.; Mary McPhee, Virginia Beach, Va.; Rose Restly, New Baltimore; Ralph Lybarger, Ellerslie, Md.; and George Lybarger, Freeport, Ill. Mrs. Husick was a member of the Riddlesburg Bible Church. She had been employed as a seamstress at Cove Shoe Co., Martinsburg, along with being a homemaker. During her life, she enjoyed flowers, crafts and needlework. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Mark E. RAMSEY, 40 of Mount Union, died Monday evening, June 10, 2002, along Route 747 in Cromwell Twp., Huntingdon County, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Born Nov. 2, 1961, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the Dora (Rogers) Ramsey, who survives in Orbisonia, and the late Eugene V. "Pat" Ramsey. He was married to Tina M. Carper, April 4, 2001, in Orbisonia. Mrs. Ramsey survives at home. He is survived by a daughter and a son: Kasey Ramsey and Mark E. Ramsey Jr., both at home. A daughter, Codie Carper, preceded him in death. Four sisters survive: Patricia Freeman, Rockhill Furnace; Amity Colyer, Chambersburg; Iva Hinton, Mount Union; and Connie Hancock, Rockhill Furnace. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Rockhill Furnace. He was employed for the last 17 years by Henkels and McCoy, Inc., York. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Charles Rhodes officiating. Born May 10, 1937, in Sugar Valley, Wayne Twp., Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Moses F. and Laura Ruth (Williams) Moist. He was married to Linda Mae Weller Nov. 4, 1960, at the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Moist survives at their home. Three children survive: Jeffrey Linn Moist, Altoona; Shari Lynn Forshey, Mapleton; and Melinda Mae Gahan, Waynesboro. Five grandchildren survive. He is survived by three brothers: Chester Moist, Mount Union; James Moist, Ironville; and Lester Ray Moist, Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers: Margaret Jane Moist, Esther Harshbarger, Charles Moist and John Moist. Mr. Moist was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mapleton, where he was formerly a trustee and a member of the official board and was currently secretary and song leader of the Sunday school. He was a life member of the Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Company and charter member and past president of the Huntingdon County Builder's Association. He was also a member of the Mapleton Borough Council and served as mayor of Mapleton for several years. He was one of the founding members of the Mount Union Area Medical Center and served as its only treasurer for many years. A 1957 graduate of Captain Jack High School, he retired in 2001 as a self-employed business contractor having owned and operated M.F. Moist Contractor since June of 1985. Prior to that, he had been employed for many years by the former Parks Planing Mill, Mount Union. He enjoyed hunting and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born March 20, 1920, in Williamsburg, he was the son of the late Stephen L. and Martha (Fisher) Wolfhope. He married Fedora M. Shultz Sept. 17, 1958, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Wolfhope preceded him in death May 24, 1984. He is survived by two children: Martha Wolfhope of Huntingdon and Donald M. Shultz of Hesston. Five sisters and a brother survive: Florence Abrams and Mary Jane Hoffman, both of Salisbury, Md.; Eleanor Wrye, Tyrone; Georgia Conrad, Camden, Del.; Irene Geesey, York; and Philip Wolfhope, Alexandria. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Roy Wolfhope. Mr. Wolfhope was of the Protestant faith. He was a life member of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria; a life member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 233, Huntingdon; and the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and his home on Fourteenth Street since 1959, he had been employed at Harbison-Walker Brickyard, Alexandria and then as a heavy equipment operator for Robert M. Ross Construction Company and its successor, Stone Valley Construction, Huntingdon. He worked and maintained the Huntingdon County Fair racetrack for over 27 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, Battery B 534th AAA (AW) Battalion, from Nov. 20, 1942, to Oct. 24, 1945. His service included campaigns in North Africa, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and Bronze Arrowhead. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Donald Wesley KENEPP, 78, of Mountain Road, McVeytown, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002. Born Dec. 9, 1923, in McVeytown, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Wesley and Ethel (Moist) Kenepp. He was married to Margaret Youtzy June 10, 1945. Mrs. Kenepp survives at home. Two children survive: Dr. Darwin Lee Kenepp, Wynnewood, and Constance Diane (Kenepp) Harmon, Perryopolis. Five grandchildren and one step-grandchild survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Morgan. Mr. Kenepp was a lifelong member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren in McVeytown, where he served as Sunday School teacher and auditor at times. He was a member of the McVeytown Lions Club, holding offices at the local and state levels. He was active with the Seeing Eye Dog program, sight conservation and drug awareness program. He was the recipient of the Lions Club Melvin Jones Award in 1989. He was a 1942 graduate of Bratton-McVeytown-Oliver High School and a graduate of the Huntingdon Secretarial School. He was employed as a bookkeeper by the Riggs-Distler Construction Co., Nash Motor Co., the Purity Milk Co. in Lewistown, and the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon. He held the office of secretary for 53 years for the McVeytown Borough Council and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs. Mr. Kenepp enjoyed woodworking, collection antique automobile memorabilia and watching wildlife. Her death was unexpected. Born Sept. 18, 1916, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer H. and Anna Elizabeth (Miller) Feagley. She married Henry A. Felty Dec. 25, 1937, in Huntingdon. The marriage ended in divorce. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Betyann) Shaver, Aiken, S.C., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A sister, Mrs. Delman (Wilda) Williams, Shelbyville, Ind., survives. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. Ms. Felty was a member of the woodland Presbyterian Church, 42nd and Pine Sts., Philadelphia, where she was a member of the Senior Fellowship Group. She was an active volunteer in her retirement community and was a former member of the New Century Guild and a volunteer at the Please Touch Museum, both in Philadelphia. She attended the Huntingdon public schools, graduating from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1934. Duane SOMERS, 83, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, formerly of Mount Union, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born March 8, 1919, in Mapleton, he was a son of the late Charles Chalmer and Myrtle Adele (Parmalee) Somers. He was married to Bettie J. Priem. Mrs. Somers survives. Three sons and a daughter survive: Walter C. Somers, Shippensburg; Larry D. Somers, Lake Meade, East Berlin; Brian K. Somers, Orrstown; and Pamela D. (Somers) Orr, Hagerstown, Md. He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot after 30 years, where he worked as a head computer operator. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service. He served in the South Pacific, where he was wounded when his submarine was hit. Born Feb. 25, 1939, in Altoona, he was the son of the late James H. Sr. and Virginia Audrey (Mountain) Crain. He was married to Carolyn E. (Shoemaker ) Smeigh May 17, 1974, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Crain survives at their home. He is survived by nine children: Yvonne J. Hetrick, Yvette J. Crain, Collene J. Crain and James H. Crain III, all of Huntingdon; Wilbert M. Smeigh, Altoona; Tige J. She had been in failing health. Born Jan. 9, 1920, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of James Elsworth and Elsie (Gill) Bare. She was married to Clarence Robert "Bob" Coffman Nov. 28, 1939, in Hollidaysburg. He preceded her in death March 24, 1976. Born Feb. 17, 1922, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Cecil Chalmer and Alma Viola (Anderson) Mark. He was married to Sarah Isett Jan. 4, 1947, at St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Edmund L. Manges. Mrs. Marks preceded him in death April 1, 1975. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Curtis A. (Kate) Conrad, Shillington, and Mrs. Robert D. (Susan) Moore, Huntingdon. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive. Two brothers preceded him in death: John Mark and Thomas Mark. Mr. Marks was a member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge No. 976; a life member of the William P. Spyker Post No. 520, American Legion; and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon. A resident of Smithfield Twp. for 30 years, he had attended the Huntingdon public schools. He was previously employed by the J.C. Blair Company and Strickler's Dry Cleaners from 1948-1958. In 1958, he entered into business with his brother, Thomas, to form Mark's Brothers Gulf, located in Huntingdon along U.S. Route 22 and in 1972 moved the service center to its current location along Fairground Road, Huntingdon. While operating Mark's Brothers until his retirement in 2000, he also drove school buses in the Huntingdon Area School District for over 40 years. A veteran of World War II, he had served with the U.S. Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic instructor and attained the rank of sergeant while serving in the American Theatre of Operations. Born March 2, 1907, in Penn Twp., Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Catherine (Widner) Norris. She was married to M. Clyde Garner Jan. 18, 1926, at the parsonage of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Dr. Hobart McKeehan. Mr. Garner preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by one son and three daughters: Melvin Ralph Garner, Carlisle; Mrs. Charles F. (Catherine) Myers, Huntingdon; Mrs. Casper (Helen M.) Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Mabel R. (Herdman) Copenhaver. Her first husband, John L. Weirich, preceded her in death in 1987. She was then married to Guy E. Croyle, who preceded in death in 1993. She is survived by two sons: Robert Bruce Weirich, Cleveland, Ohio, and John C. Born June 24, 1942, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Dollan Marker and Dorothy Blessing. She was married to Dorn L. Collanbine, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Mike Collanbine, Dillsburg; David Collanbine, Mechanicsburg; Jodi Cassatt, Carlisle; and Judi Bressler, Dillsburg. One granddaughter survives. NEWMAN, 70, formerly of the Mount Union area, and most recently of 606 Campbell St., Medical Lake, Wash., died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his home, following an extended illness. Born March 12, 1931, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Sanford "Pete" and Mary (Harmon) Newman. He was married to Donna Zanders. She preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Smith of Medical Lake, Wash., and by two grandsons. Two brothers survive: Richard K. "Dick" Newman of Mount Union and Sanford "Sandy" Newman of Lebanon. Mr. Newman was of the Protestant faith. He attended Mount Union Area High School. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired as a sergeant major having received extensive military honors. While in the service, he was a member of the Air Force Band and participated with the band in the popular movie, "The Glenn Miller Story." He loved to return to Mount Union and visit his friends and family and enjoyed attending military and family reunions. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Born March 24, 1907, in Allensville, she was the daughter of the late Blaine E. and Margaret E. (Bordell) Zerby. She was first married to Charles E. Hoffman Sr. June 16, 1940. He preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1966. She was then married to Walter E. Baker Aug. 22, 1971, at St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Walter Smith. Mr. Baker preceded her in death July 25, 1990. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth E. Welfey Sr., Aug. 3, 1993, and a grandson. Two grandchildren survive along with six stepchildren. A sister survives: Carrie C. Jones of Allensville. Mrs. Baker was a member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the Auxiliary to the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, Huntingdon, since 1949 and past president in 1958; a member of the auxiliary to the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntingdon; past grand counselor of United Commercial Travelers (UCT) and received her honors in 1985 from the Huntingdon Auxiliary No. 394; a member of the women of the Moose Lodge No. 220, Huntingdon, since 1985; a member of World War One Veterans of Juniata Barracks No. 1433; and the Standing Stone Senior Citizens organization. Educated in the public schools of Allensville and Belleville, Mifflin County, she was employed as a clerk at the E. Lloyd Bergantz Store in Huntingdon from 1935 to 1941. She later worked for Grove's Taxi Service in Huntingdon on the switchboard and went to work at Snare Brothers Store in Smithfield as a clerk from 1953 to 1969. she retired in 1974 from Wilson's TV Store, Huntingdon, where she entered employment in 1969. Merrill Frank STARR, 64, of HCR 73, Three Springs, died at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Jan. 31, 1938, in Clay Twp., he was the son of the late Chester and Alma (Madden) Starr. He was married to Treva Mellott April 4, 1959, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Needmore, by the Rev. Interment will be made in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs. Jeffrey Scott CHAMBERS, 36, of State College, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness. Born January 17, 1966, in New York, he was a son of Leon and Martha (Ljongquist) Chambers of Ogdensburg, N.Y. He married Jennifer Lynne Davis March 26, 1994. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rachel, and a son, Nicholas, both at home; a sister, Michele Chambers, of Hammond, N.Y., and four brothers, John, Mark, Bill and Rodney Chambers, all of Ogdensburg, N.Y. A 1984 graduate of Madrid-Waddington High School, Mr. Chambers attended Courtland University in New York. He was the owner and president of Chambers Environmental Group, an environmental consulting group specializing in the clean-up of contaminated soils. His work took him into the Huntingdon County area. He was an avid NASCAR fan whose favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed boating, traveling and spending time with his family. BECK, 80, of 2315 Highland Ave., Huntingdon, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in declining health since April. Born November 14, 1921, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Ruby (Speck) Sims. She was married to Dr. Robert H. Beck at the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, November 2, 1969, by the Rev.Rayvon Hilliard. Dr. Beck preceded her in death October 12, 2001. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Beck of Huntingdon, and one sister, Margaret (Sims) Crownover of York. A step-daughter, Susanna (Beck) Greenleaf; one sister, Lena (Sims) Powell; and three brothers, Paul Sims, and Harry and Kenneth Sims preceded her in death. Mrs. Beck was a member of Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1939. She received her RN from the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. Following graduation in 1943, she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked as an RN at a local hospital for a number of years before returning to Huntingdon. Upon her return, she worked as a private duty nurse in the Huntingdon area. In 1954, she began her employment at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital from where she retired in 1970, having held the position of Director of Nurses. Following her retirement, she worked at Dr. Robert H. Beck's office in Huntingdon as receptionist until 1984. Mrs. Beck was an active member of the Children's Services Advisory Board in Huntingdon. An Avid bridge player and dog lover, she also enjoyed reading and for many years, enjoyed an annual fishing trip to Canada with her husband. Erma Marie (White) HUHN, 82, of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, formerly of 312 William Smith St., Huntingdon, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. She had been a resident of Cromwell Twp. for the past four years. Born Feb. 1, 1920, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Lacy (Hicks) White. She was married to George N. Huhn Sept. 2, 1948. Mr. Huhn preceded in death Dec. 29, 1968. She is survived by a son and three daughters: Michael Huhn of Altoona, Mrs. Ray Arland (Georgia M.) Shoup of Duncansville, Mrs. John (Nancy) Ciccarelli of Chambersburg and Mrs. Gary (Carol) Atherton of McVeytown. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters: Talmadge, Alvia, Raymond and Drew White, Frances (White) Lane, Charlotte (White) Perrin and Sylvia (White) Gunnett. Mrs. Huhn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where she was a member of the Rachel Circle and had once taught Sunday School in the children's department. She was a volunteer at the Huntingdon Area Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. She attended Williamsburg public schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1938. She received her RN from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was a registered nurse having practiced in Altoona, Norristown, Johnstown and retired from J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in 1983 after 30 years of service. She was an avid walker and reader and had also enjoyed traveling. BOOHER, 76, of Huntingdon, R.R. 3, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at his residence. Born Jan. 28, 1926, in Saltillo. He was the son of the late Herman and Golda (Huffman) Booher. He was married to Jayne Frances Wagner Sept. 1, 1946, in Mapleton. Mrs. Booher survives at their home. He is survived by four children: Gloria Severino, Loganton; Daryl Booher, Mapleton; Randy Booher, Huntingdon; and Marlin Booher, Three Springs; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. BUTLER, 68, of State College, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital. Born Sept. 2, 1933, in Alexandria, he was the son of the late Russell and Frances (Brown) Butler. He married Betty Lightner of Manor Hill, July 3, 1959. She survives at home. Mr. Butler is survived by one daughter, Susan Murtiff of Lewes, Del.; one son, Rusty Butler of State College; one granddaughter and one step-grandson. He was a member of Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church, Lemont. A lifetime member of William P. Mr. Crago is survived by one daughter, Amber Hernandez, and one son, Steven Crago, both of Madison, Ala., and one granddaughter. Born Feb. 13, 1915, in Mapleton, she was the only child of Roy Dale and Margaret Armeda (Weaver) Hooper. She was twice married. She married Glenn C.V. McClain in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death. She then married Rhudolph Owen "Rudy: Price Aug. 17, 1945, in Winchester, Va. He survives at their home. Also surviving is one daughter, Elmira L. Wray of Mount Union. Born Jan. 13, 1947, in McAlevys Fort, she was the daughter of Alberta Rose (Teeter) Foor of Mill Creek and the late Clifford William Kifer. She was preceded in death by stepfathers, Wilbur W. Keller Sr. and Lloyd B. Foor. She was married to Gary L. Woods May 1, 1965. Mr. Woods survives at their home. She is survived by two sons, William Franklin Woods of Kistler and Brian K. Stella Beaulieu KELLY, 80 of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Huntingdon, died June 24, 2002. She was born May 13, 1922, in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada. She was married to Richard D. Kelly of Huntingdon. Mr. Kelly preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Riley of Ventura, Calif., and Nancy Kleiman of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Richard of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She moved to the Sarasota, Fla., area from Huntingdon in 1978. Her husband was a ranking corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon. Jacob Matthew GIBBONEY, 179 Autumn Lane, Royersford, died shortly after birth early Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Paoli Memorial Hospital, Paoli. WILSON, 72, of 6410 Jefferson Pointe Circle, Jefferson Hills, died at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 10, 1930, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Samuel Jacob and Mary M. (Koch) Wilson. He married Iva J. Rickabaugh. Mrs. Wilson survives at their home. Born Jan. 21, 1933, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Norman and Charlotte (Sunderland) Sheeler. He is survived by the following children: Dixie Renninger, Hartslog Courts, Huntingdon; Rick Sheeler, Pennsylvania Furnace; and Alan Sheeler, Roger Sheeler and Billie Brotemarkle, all of McVeytown. Seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter survive. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Alfred Booher, West Melbourne, Fla.; Phyllis Ellis, Bonifay, Fla.; C. Ray Booher, Three Springs; Eva Louise Holobinko, Wisilla, Alaska; Janet Centi, Three Springs; and Bernard Booher, Saltillo. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death: Sarah Benson, Freda Smyers and Henry Booher. Mr. Booher was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church Three Springs. He was a member of the Cromwell Lodge No. 572, F&AM, Orbisonia and a charter member of the Three Springs Hunting Camp. He retired in 1987 from Ford Motor Co., Cleveland, Ohio, after 30 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean Conflict. Robert Kenneth SIMPSON SR., 53, of Williamsburg, R.R. 1, a resident of Catherine Twp., Blair County for eight months, died at noon, Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his residence. He had been in failing health since November 2001. Born Oct. 11, 1948, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Walter W. "Bull" and Geraldine M. "Pood" (Morningstar) Simpson. He was formerly married to Shirley (Zerbe) Simpson for 28 years. Mrs. Simpson survives at her Huntingdon residence. He is survived by one son, Robert Kenneth Simpson Jr., Huntingdon, and by two grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers survive: Barbara Bergeron, Paradis, La.; M. Sharon (Simpson) McConaughey, Huntingdon; Donna (Simpson) Strait, Huntingdon; Victor W. Simpson, Huntingdon; and Walter W. Simpson Jr., Huntingdon. Mr. Simpson was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Williamsburg. He attended the Juniata Valley public schools. At the time of his death and for the past 17 years, he was employed by Mead Westvaco at the Alexandria plant. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Vietnam Conflict from November 1968 until November 1969, with the 4th Infantry Division and attained the rank of specialist fourth class. Mr. Simpson was the recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat while serving in Vietnam. He also was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodwork. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp., Huntingdon. Joanne YOUNG, 60, of 20 Stallion Drive, Belleville, died at 11:19 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at her residence. Born March 20, 1942, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of John and Phyllis (Hatfield) Watson, both deceased. She was twice married, first to Donald E. Lightner, who preceded her in death June 17, 1996. She was united in marriage to Ernest H. Young June 13, 1998. Mr. Young survives. Mrs. Young is survived by two sons, Greg S. Lightner of Huntingdon, and Donald C. Lightner of Petersburg, and two daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Annette) Civitts and Mrs. Darren (Suzanne) Stuck, both of Belleville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three brothers survive: John Watson of York Springs, George Watson of Huntingdon, and Donald Watson of Hesston. Mrs. Young attended the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Belleville. She worked as manager of the meat department at Taylor's IGA, Belleville, and as a clerk at Big Valley Feed and Grain, Belleville. "Bill" MILLER, 82, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at the veterans home. Born June 22, 1920, in Allensville, he was the son of Herman and Gertrude (Alberta) Miller, both deceased. He was married to the former Gladys Markle. Mr. Miller is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Mr. Miller served during World War II as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Huntingdon Moose, Watson and Black American Legion Post 126 in Broad Top, the Captain Phillips VFW in Saxton and the Saxton Sportsmen's Association. AFIRCA, 9, Park St., China Grove, N.C., formerly of 629 Warm Springs Ave., Huntingdon, and Naples, Fla., died Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, N.C. Born in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late George T. and Sara Elizabeth (Daugherty) Cunningham. She was married to Elmer Blair "Si" Africa Feb. 24, 1934, at the Marble Collegiate Church, New York, N.Y., by the Rev. Dr. Norman Vicent Peale. Mr. Africa preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1989. She is survived by one son and daughter: John C. Africa, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, and Sally Fearn, Orange City, Fla.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a niece. She was preceded in death by two sons, James D. Africa and Michael Africa. Mrs. Africa was a member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. Interment was made in Riverview Cemetery, 245 Standing Stone Ave., Huntingdon. Kellie J. CLARK, 11, of Petersburg, R.R. 2, died at 3:04 p.m. Friday, June, 28, 2002, in the emergency room of J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident that afternoon. Born Dec. 7, 1990, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Sherry L. (Smith) Heeter of Huntingdon, R.R. 3, and Kenneth R. Clark of Petersburg, R.R. 2. She is also survived by a stepfather, Ronald Bollinger Jr. of Huntingdon, R.R. 3, and a stepmother, Cynthia Clark of Petersburg. R.R. 2. She is survived by maternal grandparents, John and Carole Harkleroad, Mapleton, R.R.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Pauline Clark, HCR 61, Mill Creek; and a maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Harkleroad, Orbisonia. She is survived by two sisters, Jamie L. Clark of Petersburg, R.R. 2, and Taylor M. Heeter of Huntingdon, R.R. 3. Raymond Crownover, officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. Huntingdon. R.R. 1. Robert N. BICKEL, 62, of HCR 61, Mill Creek, died at 6:45 am. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born May 18, 1940, in Mapleton, he was the son of the late William W. and Ada (Arnold) Bickel. He married Sarah Mae Shoemaker, June 8, 1963, at the Beech Run Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Bickle survives at their home. Three children survive: Beverly A. Drenning, Mohnton; Michael L. Bickel, Ephrata; and Robert W. Bickel, Mohnton. Four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren survive. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers: Iona, George, Howard, Raymond and Warren. Mr. Bickel was a member of the Ardenheim Independent Brethren Church, Huntingdon, R.R. 3. He was a member of the Oneida Township, Smithfield and Mill Creek Volunteer Fire companies. A graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1960, he was employed by Owens Coming Fiberglas in Huntingdon and its successor, Advanced Glassfiber Yarns, retiring in May with 34 years of service. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for over 24 years. He enjoyed drawing and making walking sticks. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Wednesday, July 3, at the Robert E. Dorothy Lee (Wilkinson) DODSON, 89, of Compton, Md., died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Alexandria Nova Hospital, Alexandria, Va. after an illness of six weeks. Born Nov. 19, 1912, she was a daughter of the late John Lee and Irene Wilkinson. She was married to Russell J. Dodson who preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, John T. Gradwell, Huntingdon; and one daughter, Dorothy R. McCubbin, Springfield, Va. One brother, Lt. Col. John Lee Wilkinson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., also survives. There are ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One son, Richard E. Riley, is deceased. She was also predeceased by one brother, Forrester F. Wilkinson, and one sister, Alice V.W. Colborn. Mrs. Dodson was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, California, Md. She taught adult Bible studies and Sunday School. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution in the Washington, D.C. area, where she held various offices in the organization. Mr. Dodson taught stenography and shorthand to federal employees in Washington, D.C. Funeral services were held July 5, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Interment was made in Arlington National Cemetery July 23. Helen Marie DELL, 81, of Mapleton, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at her home. Born March 14, 1921, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ethel M. (Wharton) Stair. She was first married to Fred A. Wise Oct. 5, 1940, in Hagerstown, Md., by the Rev. A.K. Flora. Mr. Wise preceded her in death. She was then married to Robert M. Dell June 24, 1949, at the Mapleton Methodist Church, by the Rev.. Amos Myers. Mr. Dell survives at their home. She is survived by four children: the Rev. Jerry L. Wise, Pine Glen; Mrs. Harold (Jennifer) Weller, Mapleton; Mrs. James (Josette) Park, Huntingdon, and Jan R. Dell, York. Eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive along with a cousin who was reared in the home, Maxine Shaffer of North Canton, Ohio. Mrs. Dell was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mapleton, where she was a member of the Sand Rock Jubilee Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens, Huntingdon; Bricktown Seniors, Mount Union; and a participant in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). A graduate of Mount Union High School, class of 1940, she was primarily a homemaker during her lifetime. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Jerry Wise officiating, and assisted by Pastors Steve Motter, Ed Seeley and Jerry Wise Jr. Interment will be made in the Mapleton IOOF Cemetery.
