Samuel H. Ryder Sr., 78, of rural Huntingdon died Monday, May
31, 1999, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Born Nov. 10, 1920, in Barree Township, Huntingdon County, he
was a son of the late John W. and Willa A. Clarke Ryder. On
June 22, 1940, in Winchester, Va., he married "Betty" Marian
Shenefelt, who survives at home.
He attended the Manor Hill School and Petersburg Vocational
High School.
A Navy veteran, he served during World War II as a gunner's
mate serving aboard the merchant ships USS Anthony Wayne and
USS Quincy.
He retired from Penn State in 1986 from Animal Sciences and
for 14 years before that was with the Penn State Campus
Patrol, for a total of 33 years with the University. 
He was a Methodist and member of Frank Buck Post 1 American
Legion in Williamsport, a life member of Standing Stone Post
1754 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hun-tingdon, and member of
the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John
David of Williamsport, Samuel H. Jr. of Bar-ree Township,
Huntingdon County, and Stephen W. of Hughesville; two sisters, Joanne
C. Heck of Centre Hall, Mary Patricia Harris of Smithfield
Township, Huntingdon; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m.
Thurs-day at John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St.,
Huntingdon. 
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home,
with the Rev. William W. Kauffman officiating. Burial will be
in Mooresville Cemetery, West Township, Petersburg.

Katelyn Marie Seachrist, 3, of HC 83, Shade Gap,
died 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at Conemaugh Memorial
Medical Center, Johnstown. Her death was a result of accidental
drowning.
Born Dec. 17, 1995, at Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Jay
and Karen (Nycum) Seachrist of HC 83, Shade Gap. 
She is survived by: maternal grandparents, Donald and Daisy
Nycum, McConnellsburg; paternal grandmother, Barbara
Seachrist, Mifflin; sister, Brittany Seachrist, at home, and brother,
Daniel Seachrist, at home.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 4, 1999, at the
Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Tom
Maurer officiating.
Interment will be made in the Saltillo Cemetery. 
Family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11
a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jessie V. Dell, 84, of 9966 US Highway 522 South,
Lewistown,  died at 4:12 a.m. Monday, June 7, 1999 at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1914, in Granville Township, Mifflin County, she
was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Jennie (Smith) Knepp. Her
husband, Fred M. Dell, died Sept. 29, 1987.
She is survived by sisters, Elsie Knepp, Selinsgrove and Sarah
Trego, Rosemont Avenue, Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Evangel Baptist
Church, where she taught eighth grade Sunday school, was past president of
the Missionary Society and a member of the Berean Sunday school class.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn 
Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dr.
Gregory K. Tyree officiating. Private interment will be in Bowman's
Chapel Cemetery, Huntingdon.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary S. Tennis, 79, a resident of the Rheems Nursing Center,
Rheems, formerly of Sixth and Canal streets, Alexandria, died
at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Lancaster General Hospital,
following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1919, in Alexandria, she was the daughter of the
late John M. and Oneda (Shore) Schirm. Her husband, George R. Tennis, whom
she married June 22, 1940, at the Christ Reformed Church (UCC) in
Alexandria, died Jan. 31, 1993.
Surviving are: a son, John R. Tennis, Manheim; a daughter,
Mrs. Donald (Connie) Reihart, Huntingdon; sisters, Helen Burket, East
Petersburg and Orpha Davis, Binghamton, NY; four grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
She was a 1937 graduate of Alexandria High School and attended
the Altoona School of Commerce.
She retired in 1988 from the Unitas National Bank, Huntingdon,
after 25 years of service as a secretary.
She was a member of the Christ Reformed Church (UCC),
Alexandria.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the
Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria,
with Pastor Gerald McCuller officiating. Private interment will be in the
Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery.
Family will receive friends immediately following the memorial
service at the funeral home.

June 12, 1999, at the home.
Born March 29, 1918, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the
late Henry V. and Clara L. (Houser) McCallips. 
Surviving are several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold McCallips in
1943.
She was a 1936 graduate of McVey High School.
She attended Village Baptist Church in Kennebunkport, Maine.
She loved animals and enjoyed gardening.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lind
Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.

Memorial Chapel, 647 Summer St., Kennebunk, Maine.

Lomie Anna Yoder, 87, of Valley View Haven,
Belleville, formerly of Huntingdon RR2, died at 1 a.m. Sunday,
June 13, 1999, at Valley View Haven.
Born Dec. 28, 1911, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the
late Christ P. and Lydia A. (Sharp) Yoder. Her husband, Moses
S. Yoder, died July 13, 1969.
Surviving are: children, Ray M. Yoder, McVeytown RR1, Helen I.
Yoder and Martin L. Yoder, both of Huntingdon RR2; sister and

She was preceded in death by infant sisters, Mary Yoder and
Sadie Yoder; three brothers, John M. Yoder, Aaron S. Yoder,

She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Beth-El Mennonite Church and the
church sewing circle.
She attended J. W. Yoder Music School and enjoyed group music
and leading music. She also posed for Mr. Yoder as Roseanna
for his book, "Roseanna of the Amish." She enjoyed making braided rugs, 
and loved being outdoors, gardening and flowers.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Valley View
Haven Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp and the
Rev. Roy L. Yoder officiating.
Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.

Ferdinand "Ferd" J. Buechele, 83, of rural Petersburg, died
Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Centre Com-munity Hospital.
He was born May 25, 1916, in Lakemont, a son of the late
Andrew and Lydia McMullin Buechele. On June 3, 1957, he
married Dawn K. Knode, who survives at home.
An Army veteran, he served in World War II from Nov. 5, 1941,
to Nov. 5, 1945. He earned the World War II Victory Medal, the
Good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Asiatic
Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars.
He worked for Penn State in the horticulture department and
later transferred to the audio-visual department, retiring
Dec. 31, 1980.
He also worked for Whitehill Lighting in State College.
He was a member of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post
520 in Alexandria, the Veterans of For-eign Wars Post 321 in
State College, and the Flying Tigers Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert
Buechele of Great Falls, Mont.; a stepson, Dwight Knode of
rural Petersburg; a brother, Andrew Buechele of Dal-las; and a stepgrandchild.

Hazel M. Eminhizer, 70, of Fleming died Saturday, June 19,
1999, in Shade Gap, at the home of her son, the Rev. Rick L. Eminhizer. 
Born July 31, 1928, in Fleming, she was a daughter of the late
William H. and Aletha A. Solt Lucas. On Nov. 20, 1945, she married LeLand
B. Eminhizer, who survives at home. 
She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, fishing, camping and
crafts.
She was Methodist and a member of Bald Eagle Valley Community
Church. 
In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by a
daughter, Robin C. Shaw of Runville; two sisters, Hannah Miller and Florence
White, both of Fleming; a brother, Harold W. Lucas of Milesburg; and two
granddaughters.

Glenn R. Williams, 81, of Bald Eagle, rural Tyrone, died
Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Altoona Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Huston Township, Centre County, he was
a son of the late Joseph and Mattie Steele Williams. He married LaRue
Brumbaugh, who died Feb. 9, 1969. An Army veteran, he served during World
War II. He was a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad and then
owner/operator of Glenn R. Williams Milk Transport of Tyrone. 
He was a Methodist and member of Free and Accepted Masons
Lodge 494 in Tyrone and Warriors Mark/Franklin Volunteer Fire Company. 
He is survived by a daughter, Sue Hughes of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Peg
Stern of Martinsburg; and a companion, Pauline Shirk of Bald Eagle, rural
Tyrone.  
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11
a.m. Tuesday at Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark. 
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home,

Robert Paul (Bob) Moore of State College died Friday evening,
June 18, 1999, at Clare Bridge Alternative Living Home in State
College. He was born Oct. 13, 1926, on Mountain Road, Port Matilda, a son of
Esther Cowher Moore of rural Port Matilda and the late Frederick
Austin Moore. He was married to Josephine Rumberger on Oct. 8, 1950, 
by the late Rev. Paul Myers at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church.
He graduated from Port Matilda High School in 1945. He
completed an apprenticeship in printing through the Interna-tional
Typographical Union.
He took courses in insurance at Penn State.
In the printing trade, he work-ed at the former Nittany
Printing and Publishing Co., Himes Printing, and he owned and operated the
Robert P. Moore Printing Shop, all of State College. He was also
affiliated with the Conemaugh Valley Mutual Insurance Co. of Johnstown.
He coached Little League baseball in State College for 10
years. He served in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theatre (Pearl Harbor), 
from 1944 to 1946. He was a member and Past Master of State College Lodge 700, 
Free and Accepted Masons; Valley of Altoona Scottish Rite, Past Thrice
Potent Master, Lodge of Perfection. 
In July 1994, he was the recipient of the Meritorius Service
Award from the Council of Deliberations. He was a member of Jaffa Temple,
AAONMS; Past High Priest, Bellefonte Royal Arch Chapter; Nittany Council;
Past Commander, Constans Commandry Knights Templar; Red Cross of
Constantine; Seven Mountain Council Allied Masonic Degree;
Williamsport Conclave York Rite College; Centre Forest Tall Ce-dars of
Lebanon; Life Member Knights Templar Eye Foundation; Centre County Hi-noon
Club; State College Order of the Eastern Star; United Commercial

He was an avid hunter, having spent 32 days in Alaska. He also

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Rosalie
Fasick of State College; and four brothers, James Dean of Tyrone, Alvin of
State College and Oregon, and Oscar and George, both of rural Port Matilda.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Almeda (Dolly) Schenck; and two
brothers, Jacob and Douglas Moore.
Memorial services will be held at Mount Nittany United
Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College, on Saturday, June 26,
1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl E. Hill officiating.
A Masonic Service will be held at the conclusion of the
service. Friends will be received after the service. 
Burial will be in Spring Mount Church of the Brethren
Cemetery in Spring Mount.

Harvey Fisher, 79, of 19 John Street, McVeytown,
died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William

Born Oct. 2, 1919, in Lambertville, NJ, he was the son of the
late Harvey and Bertha (Slack) Fisher. His wife, Grace (Keller) Cramer Fisher,

Mrs. Kathryn Ruth Jane Banks of Bisbee, Arizona died at Tucson
Medical Center at noon on Monday, June 21, 1999.  She had been
seriously ill for the last 19 days.
     She was born April 5, 1925 in Huntingdon, Penna, a
daughter of Nannie Campbell and Frank Wilson Dillen.  Both
parents were schoolteachers and her father,also, a Justice of
Peace.  She was 74 years old, at the time of her death.
     On November 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to
Lawrence A. Banks in Hagerstown, Maryland. They had celebrated
nearly 57 years of marriage.  They moved from Pennsylvania to
Bisbee in 1957.
     Kathryn attended Huntingdon High School and Cochise
College in Douglas. She received her certification to practice
as a nurse's aide.  Her employment included the County
Hospital in Douglas and also the Warren Medical Clinic in
Bisbee. Her primary interest and concern was her job as a
devoted homemaker and kindness to other people. She attended
the "First Assembly of God Church" in Bisbee. 
    Preceding her in death was her only son, Larry D. Banks,
USN abroad the USS Tripoli in 1974.  Her only brother, Paul
Campbell Dillon, died in November, 1998.
     Her surviving family includes her husband, Lawrence and
two daughters, Nina S. Graeme of Bisbee and Barbara (Gregory)
Youngs of Silver City, New Mexico. The grandchildren are:
Jennifer L. Graeme of Oro Valley, Arizona, Douglas L. Graeme
of Bisbee, Richard W. Graeme IV of Bisbee and Cherry Anne
(Vance) Larkin of Globe, Arizona. Also, included are Kyle

Ella B. Byler, 78, of 225 Hartzler Drive,
Belleville, died at 9:12 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, at Valley View Haven, 
Belleville.
Born March 3, 1921, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the
late Daniel A. and Fanny (Sharp) Yoder. Her husband, Willie B. Byler, died
Nov. 10, 1997.
Surviving are: children, John W. Byler, Loren R. Byler, Darrel
R. Byler, all of Allensville, Glenn W. Byler, Marlin L. Byler, both of
Belleville, Jeff A. Byler, Manheim, Mrs. Wilbur (Esther) Peachey, Winfield, Wanda B.
Delp, Manheim, Mrs. Paul (Mary L.) Hostetler, Belleville; brothers and
sisters, Alvin D. Yoder, Lee S. Yoder, both of Belleville, J. Ben Yoder, McVeytown,
Sadie Peachey, Linda Spicher, Marian Yoder, all of Belleville, and Esther
Lewis of Lewistown; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Darlis L.
Byler, two brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville
and Secret Friends of Locust Grove.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Locust Grove
Mennonite Church, West Main Street, Belleville, with the Rev. Max Zook
and the Rev. Erie Renno officiating.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Donald E. Baggus
Funeral Home, 217 W. Main St., Belleville, and from 9:30 a.m. until
the time of services Monday at the church.

Samuel L. Coffman, 70, of Bellmeade, Altoona, died Friday,
June 25, 1999, at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital in Altoona.
He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Huntingdon, a son of the late
Samuel L. and Mabel Meckbaugh Coffman. On Dec. 5, 1952, at Trinity
Evangelical Reformed Church in McConnellstown, he married Frances P.
Beaver, who survives at home.
He was a 1946 graduate of Huntingdon High School.
An Army veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a buyer for A & P Food Stores for 33 years, and for
Gateway Food Distributor in Huntingdon. He also worked for New Pig Corp. in
Tipton. He retired from Leapfrog Technologies in Altoona as a
salesperson.
He was a member of the Frank P. Hommon Post 24 American Legion
in Huntingdon, the Standing Stone Post 1754 Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellwood.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl
A. Mattas of State College; a son, Douglas L. Coffman of Altoona; a sister,
Alma Zanylo of Huntingdon; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at
the Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, 618 Martin St., Bellwood.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home,
with the Revs. Robert J. Kennedy and David H. Roesch officiating. 
Burial will be in McConnellstown Cemetery.

Hannah Mae Kreider, 97, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of
Stormstown, died   Saturday, June 26, 1999, in Dade City, Fla.
She was born June 8, 1902, a daughter of the late Geary and
Emma Steely Strobecker. She married Arthur R. Kreider, who died in 1981.
She was employed in food service at various church homes in
Lebanon, retiring in 1967.
She was a member of Tabor United Church of Christ in Lebanon,
and the Senior Citizens Club of State College.
She is survived by a son, Arthur S. Kreider of Zephyrhills,
Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
There will be no public visitation.
The funeral will be held at the convenience of the family,
with the Rev. Lee Belleman of Akron, Ohio, officiating.
Cox Funeral Home in Warriors Mark is handling the
arrangements.

Larry G. Wyland, 48, of Warriors Mark died Wednesday, June 30,
1999, at Centre Community Hos-pital.
Born March 19, 1951, in Colo-rado Springs, Colo., he was a son
of Robert and Jean DeRemer Wyland of Altoona. On Nov. 20,
1971, in
Bellwood, he married Becky A. Green, who survives at home.
He was a 1969 graduate of Bell-wood-Antis High School.
He was owner of Wyland's Pump Sales and Service and served on
the Warriors Mark General Water Auth-ority.
He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
Lodge 212 in Tyrone, Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 494 in
Tyrone, and The
Tall Cedars of Lebanon Centre Forest 129.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three
sons, Chris, Brad and Mark, all at home; and two sisters,
Cindy Himes of
Bellwood and Vicki Eardley of Altoona.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Bruce E. Cox
Funeral Home, Warriors Mark.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bald Eagle United
Methodist Church, with Pastor Jay Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
