Kann, who had been in failing health since July, died at 10:55 p.m. Nov. 6, 1986, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years old and resided with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd A. Conlon of Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, R. D. 4. He was born May 9, 1904 at Mount Etna, the son of Homer J. and Jennie (States) Kann. He married the former Ida Catherine Appleby on Aug. 9, 1924 in Cumberland, Md. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1963. Five children survive. They are Mrs Robert (Vivian) Stitt, Harrisburg; Mrs. Robert (Louise) Fornwalt, Spring Church; Fred L. Kann, Painted Post, N.Y.;Mrs. Phillip J. (Doris) McElwain, Huntingdon, R D. 2 and Mrs. Floyd A. (Donna) Conlon, Huntingdon, R. D. 4. One son, George, preceded him in death in 1971. Eighteen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren survive. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Harold E. Kann, Homer J. Kann and Mrs. Donald (Isabel) Shafer, all of Huntingdon, and Mrs. Charles (Annie) Felter of Punxsutawney. One brother, Paul, preceded him in death. A number of nieces and nephews survive. Mr. Kann was a member of the 12th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He began his employment in the Huntingdon Throwing Company in 1920 and stayed with the firm when it was taken over by Owens - Corning Fiberglas. He retired Aug. 11, 1966 after 22 years and 10 months withs Owens - Corning. He was educated in the Huntingdon public schools and resided in Huntingdon most of his life. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. in the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, the Rev. Ashley Horner officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday after 7 p.m. or from 9 a.m. to the hour of the service on Sunday.
