"Horsey" Kann, 79, of 108 S. 14th St., Huntingdon, died at approximately 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1990, at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. Mr. Kann, who had been in failing health for the past six months, was admitted to the manor Monday. Born June 21, 1911, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Jennie (States) and Homer J. Kann Sr. He was united in marriage Oct. 1, 1940, at Winchester, Va. to the former Daisy H. Parks, who survives. Mr. Kann is survived by a son, Harold A. "Herb" Kann of Warrior Oaks, Huntingdon, R.D. 1, and two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Isabel) Shafer of Huntingdon and Mrs. Charles (Annie) Felder of Punxsutawney. Three brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Kann was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Huntingdon Lodge 976, the American Legion, Frank P. Hommon Post 24, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Standing Stone Post 1754, all in Huntingdon. Mr. Kann was a member of the Huntingdon National Guard Unit from 1934 until 1942 when he was called to active duty during World War II. From 1942 until his discharge in 1945, he served in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant with the 104th Engineering Batallion in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Kann was self-employed for 20 years, servicing and placing vending machines in the Huntingdon area. He retired in 1976. A life-long resident of Huntingdon, Mr. Kann attended the Huntingdon public schools. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Palmer Zerbe officiating. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening after 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
