"Jake" Kerling, 92, of Three Springs, died Wednesday, March 19, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment was made at Three Springs Cemetery. He was born September 4, 1915 in Clay Township, Huntingdon County. He was the son of the late William and Florence (Roher) Kerling. He was married to the former Dorothy L. Bilyk on November 24, 1941 at Winchester, VA. Mrs. Kerling preceded in death October 24, 1994. A companion, Kathleen Dossie Smith survives at Three Springs. Mr. Kerling is survived by the following children: William R. Kerling of Cape May Courthouse, NJ and Barbara A. Nickle of Boiling Springs. Three grandsons and four great-grandchildren also survive. One daughter, Betty J. Grayman and four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He was employed at Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union. in his early years he played baseball for the Washington Senators organization. Mr. Kerling was a member of the First Baptist Church of Three Springs. He was also a charter of the Three Springs Lions Club and the Three Springs Hunting Camp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed gardening. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, Three Springs, PA 17264.
