Huntingdon, May 19. - Mrs. Clara E. Lindsay, widow of Hugh Lindsay, founder of the Local News and for twenty-eight years the revered editor, died in the Blair Memorial hospital on Saturday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock following an operation on the evening before for cancer. Mrs. Lindsay was a daughter of William and Eliza Hildebrand and a descendant of one of the original families in Huntingdon. She was born and lived her entire life at 526 Penn street, although in the course of her lifetime the property was largely rebuilt by Editor Lindsay. They were married on September 6, 1870, and the tie was broken only by his death on March 1, 1878. They had no children, and she herself was the last survivor of her family. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon from the residence, services to be in charge of Rev. R. P. Daubenspeck, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which she was a member. Interment will be made in Riverview cemetery beside that of her husband. Altoona Tribune, Monday morning, May 20, 1918, page 14
