Lyon died at the family home, 1237 North Lincoln avenue, in this place, Saturday evening at 11 o'clock, after ten days' illness of dysentery. The deceased was a son of John and Margaret Stewart Lyon, and was born at Colerain Forge, Huntingdon county, November, 1826, and during his active business life resided at Huntingdon and Pennsylvania Furnaces, Pittsburg, Philadelphia, and for the past year in Tyrone. He was an active member in the Presbyterian church for many years, and a Christian in all that the word implies. He is survived by his wife, Annie Porter Lyon, and one son, John Porter Lyon; also by two brothers and one sister, viz: Thomas S. Lyon, of Topeka, Kan.; James B. Lyon, of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Jane Ayres, of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held at his late home to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock, after which the remains will be removed to the station and placed on board main line express at 12.03 and taken to Barree station, and from thence conveyed to Alexandria for interment in the cemetery at that place. Berstresser, of Tyrone, conducted the services at the funeral obsequies of George W. Lyon, held yesterday afternoon at the late home of the deceased, 1237 North Lincoln avenue, after which the remains, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, were removed to the station at this place and placed on board the 2.35 train east and taken to Barree station and from thence conveyed to Alexandria, where interment was made in the cemetery at that place.
