James E. Maffett died at home in Shirleysburg, Thursday, June 7, 1928, aged 57 
years, 9 months and 11 days.  He was a son of John Albert and Mary Anna 
Appleton Maffett and was born in Monroe Furnace, Pa., August 26, 1870.  He is 
survived by the following brothers and sisters:  Mrs. Talitha Mary Harpster of 
State College, Edward Maffett of Shirleysburg, Mrs. Nancy Facer of Canton, 
Ohio, and Mrs. Margaret Peck of Oklahoma.  Services were conducted at the home 
of the deceased Saturday, June 8 at 2:30 p.m.  Rev. Robert Croyle 
officiating.  Interment was made in Shirleysburg Cemetery.  The funeral was 
directed by Frank Heidel.
