W. Hoffman, in South Huntingdon, on Tuesday, October 29th following an illness lasting six months due to a complication of diseases. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mahan, both deceased, and was born in Harrisburg. He was aged at time of death 72 years, 5 months and 3 days. He had resided in Mount Union for about thirty-five years, during which time he was an engineer on the main line of the P.R.R., but later engaging in the same line of work on the East Broad Top railroad. On June 2, 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Morgan, of Mount Union, who preceded him to the grave about 19 years ago. Since 1910 he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Hoffman. He is survived by six children, Miss Gertrude Mahan and Mrs. Catharine Hoffman, of South Huntingdon; William, John, Frank and Harry Mahan, all of Altoona. Also by two sisters: Mrs. Ella F. Girler, of McKeesport, and Mrs. Clara A. Harpel, of Lewisberry, Pa. Funeral services were conducted on Friday afternoon at 1.30 by the Rev. L. M. Brady, with interment at Mount Union.
