Born Feb. 19, 1911, in Braddock, and reared in the Shade Gap area, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Belle (Free) Pyles. In 1935, she was united in marriage to Edward Cypher who preceded her in death in 1964. She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Knaub of Berryville, Va. She is also survived by two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Ms. Hoke was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro. She worked in food services at the South Mountain State Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Harbaugh's Cemetery, Midvale, with the Rev. Charles Jessen officiating. Edgar Harry BENSON, 84 of HCR 73, Three Springs, died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. Born March 28, 1920, in Three Springs, he was the son of the late Harry and Rhoda (Rupert) Benson. He was united in marriage to Violet (Black) Benson Dec. 12, 1942. He is survived by his wife at home and by four sons: Dean Benson of Blairs Mills, Eddie Benson and Joe Benson, both of Three Springs, and Ted Benson of Orbisonia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One sister, Maxine Neville of York, and one brother, Franklin "Bud" Benson of Waterfall, survive. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Mr. Benson attended Walnut Grove Church of God, Three Springs, R.R. He worked in construction and as a logger. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. with the Rev. Shelby McCoy officiating. Interment will be made in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs, R.R. William James KOEHLER, 73, of 199 Knobsville Road, McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Harrisburg General Hospital, Harrisburg. Born in Windber June 8. 1931, he was the son of the late Otto Herrman and Marie Hannah (Mallin) Koehler. He was the husband of Jane (Hoffman) Koehier whom he married June 1, 1957, at the Saltillo Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William R. Koehler, and his wife, Marie. of Pulaski, N.Y.; a son, James M. Koehler, and his wife, Michelle, of Londonberry, N.H.: and five grandsons, Michael, Sean, Kyle, James and Kody Koehler. Two brothers survive; Dr. Robert Koehler of University Park, Fla., and George Koehler of Windber. Mr. Koehler was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg where he was a choir member from 1958 to 1970. He was also a member and past commander of American Legion Post No. 561 in McConnellsburg where he served on the board of directors for 10 years and was secretary for six years. He was also a social veteran member of the VFW Post No. 655, McConnellsburg. Mr. Koehler graduated from Windber High School in 1949. He worked summers in the Johnstown steel mills while attending Indiana University, where which he graduated in 1953. He also attended graduate school from 1957 to 1958 at Penn State University. A music teacher for 35 years, he began teaching at the Saltillo Junior Senior High School in 1953. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict he returned to teaching at Saltillo in 1956, moved to Penn's Valley School in 1957 and then taught 30 years at Central Fulton School District until retiring in 1988. He worked summers and part- time at the Exxon stations, at Path Valley and Sideling Hill from 1959 to 1980. He played organ and piano for 16 years with "The Imperials," a Flagerstown dance band. He played the organ at the Knobsville Brethren Church for about one year and sang with a well-known McConnellsburg barbershop quartet for many years. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, with Pastor Allen Reed and Pastor Chris Elliott officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg. Betty (Resley) WOOD, 82, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, and formerly of 650 Fifth St., Huntingdon, died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at The Oaks. Mrs. Wood, who had resided at Westminster Woods for the past six years and at The Oaks since October 2004, had been in failing health for several months. Born Sept. 5, 1922, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Dill) Resley. She was united in marriage to William Wood in 1946 at St. James Lutheran Church in Huntingdon by the Rev. Edmund Manges. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Susan (Wood) Oeffner, and her husband, Randall, of Huntingdon; Samuel Wood, and his wife, Sandy (MacGregor), of Harrisburg; and Mary (Wood) Snow, and her husband, George, of Newville. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Holli (Oeffner) Musante, and her husband, David, of Reading, and Samantha Wood and James Wood, both of Harrisburg; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Ben Musante, both of Reading. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Regina (Williams) Resley of Albuquerque, N.M., as well as one nephew and one niece, William and Stephanie Resley. Two brothers, William and Robert Resley, preceded her in death. Mrs. Wood was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Huntingdon. She attended Cambria County and Huntingdon County public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1940. Mrs. Wood was employed by Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. For over 20 years, she was employed as a switchboard operator at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Private funeral services will be held at the John B. Brown Funeral home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Paul E. Spring officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Paulene PEACHEY, 84, of 57 Second St., Belleville, died at 11:58 a.m. on Wednesday March 2, 2005, at her home. Born Feb. 13, 1921, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sadie (Stoltzfus) Zook. Her step mother was the late Anna (Stoltzfus) Zook. Her husband, Byron J. Peachey, whom she married on March 5, 1944, preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1989. Surviving are: children, Esther L. Murphy and husband Ralph, of Austin, Texas, Joyce A. Yoder and husband Glenn, of Allensville, B. Frank Peachey and wife Carol W. of Akron, Pa.; three grandchildren, John F. Yoder and wife Angela M, James D. "Jim" Yoder and wife Angela D, and Charles F. Murphy; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Derek, Kaylene, Adam, and Jacob Yoder; and siblings, Lois King and twin brother Paul S. Zook and wife Betty, both of Belleville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Loren Zook and Floyd Zook. She was a secretary for Belleville Oil Co. and attended Goshen College for one year. She was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Beacon Light Sunday School Class, and Ladies Sewing Circle of the church. She enjoyed stamp collecting, crocheting and being with family. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Pastor Alan Kauffman officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Dorothy T. FASICK, 82, of 1953 state Route 103 South, McVeytown, died at 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 7, 1922, in Lorain, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Mildred (Nestor) Weber. Her husband, John C. "Jack" Fasick, preceded her in death. Surviving are: children, Carla Martin, of Lorain, Pat Russ and husband John, of Mount Union, Mary Paglia and husband Peter, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Charles Gries, of Lewistown, and Craig Fasick and wife Pam, of Newton Hamilton; a stepson, John C. Fasick Jr., of Columbus, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Rita Hartman, of Lorain, and Aileen DeLeonardis and husband Dominic, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Dorothy was a member of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mount Union. The celebrant will be the Rev. Leo Amone, and interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton. Fred Grosh ANGLE, 87, of Saltillo, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at his home. Born Jan. 27, 1918, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late James R. and Leah N. (Grosh) Angle. He was united in marriage to Dorothy V. Nead July 25. 1942. He is survived by his wife at home and by one daughter, Nina L. Ott, and her husband, Janvier, of Washington, W.Va., and one son, Rodney J. Angle, and his wife, Ruth (Evans), of Huntingdon, R.R. 4. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Dr. Janine (Ott) Hockman, and her husband, Eric, of Cresco and Shane M. Ott, and his wife, Glennita (Nogra), of Parkersburg, W.Va., and two great-grandchildren, Megan Rachelle Hockman of Cresco and Alia Dorothy Ott of Parkersburg, W.Va. One brother, Henry Angle of Lemasters, survives. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Mr. Angle was a graduate of Lemasters High School, Shippensburg University and Penn State University. He began his teaching career at Spring Farm Elementary School near Three Springs, which at the time was a one-room school for grades one through eight. On June 26, 1942, after teaching at Spring Farm Elementary for one year, he was drafted into the United States Army. He trained at Fort Bragg, N.C., as a PFC for six weeks, then was sent to Officers Training School at Fort Sill, Okla. After 90 days at Fort Sill, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and transferred to Fort Bragg where, on Dec. 25, 1942, he prepared to ship to England, traveling on the Queen Elizabeth with 20,000 other comrade soldiers on board. There they prepared for the World War II Invasion, embarking from England to serve through D-day, the Battle of the Bulge and five other major battles. Mr. Angle attained the rank of captain. He arrived back in Saltillo Sept. 19, 1945, where he met his baby daughter Nina for the first time on her second birthday. Mr. Angle began teaching English, history and geography at a school in Middletown and, in 1948, he returned to teach at Saltillo High School. During this time, he stayed active in the military, joining the Huntingdon National Guard. In 1950, when the National Guard was called to serve in Korea, Mr. Angle was ordered to serve in Germany as battalion commander of the 154th Transportation Trucking Co. After serving there two years, he returned to Saltillo to teach and, in January 1954, was elected supervising principal of the Saltillo Joint Schools. He was very much a part of the construction of the Southern Huntingdon County High School, Spring Farms Elementary School and Trough Creek Elementary School, starting in 1958 when he was named supervising principal of the newly formed Southern Huntingdon County Jointure. He was also instrumental in establishing the county vo-tech school. Mr. Angle retired as superintendent in 1978 to a far different life, where he enjoyed golfing, bowling and buying and selling antiques and collectibles. After moving to Saltillo, he was very active in the Saltillo United Methodist Church, teaching the adult Sunday school class, acting as superintendent and holding various offices until illnesses forced him to discontinue. Yet, his zest for living lingered as he watched sports on television and kept a jig-saw puzzle in front of his chair at all times. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home in Orbisonia with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon and the Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be made in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs. R.R. John BREWSTER, 93, of 430 S. Market St., Martinsburg since Sept. 1, 1995, and formerly of Huntingdon. died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2005, at Homewood Retirement Center in Martinsburg following a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 15, 1911, in Huntingdon. he was the son of the late Charles C. Brewster and Mary Belle (Brewster) Brewster. He was united in marriage to Margaret Wagner Nov. 24, 1938, at the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ in Huntingdon by the Rev. Dr. Hobart McKeehan. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Susan (Brewster) Rhoads, and her husband, Ralph, of Pottstown. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Douglas Brewster Banker, and his wife, Shelley, of State College and Amy (Banker) Purcell, and her husband, Dylan, of Elkins Park. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary B. Kurtz and Janet B. Banks. Mr. Brewster was a lifelong member of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon. He served the church at its superintendent of Sunday school, as Sunday school treasurer and as an elder. He was a life member of the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24 American Legion, Huntingdon. He was a member of numerous Masonic organizations, including, Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 F&AM, serving as worshipful master in 1955: Valley of Altoona AASR; Jaffa Temple AAONMS; Huntingdon Commandery No. 65 of Knights Templar, serving as commander in 1961; Penn Priory No. 6 Knight of the York Cross of Honor: Seven Mountains Council No. 65 AMD, serving as sovereign master in 1980: Standing Stone Royal Arch Chapter No. 201, serving as high priest in 1952: Nittany Council No. 57, serving as thrice illustrious master in 1979. Mr. Brewster was also a member of the former River Hill Hunting Club. He attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1930. Prior to his military service, he attended business school in Huntingdon. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the American Theatre of Operations. He was stationed in Norfolk, Va., and attained the rank of seaman second class. Mr. Brewster retired from the United States Postal Service in 1973. He served as Huntingdon County Jury Commissioner until 1995 and worked as an independent title abstractor for various Huntingdon County attorneys. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. A memorial service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gerald C. McCuller officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Frances F. TROXELL, 83, of 714 W. First St., Williamsburg, died Wednesday evening, March 2, 2005, at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus. Born Jan. 16, 1922, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Leona (Tampson) Beck. She was married three times: first to Robert J. Dell, then to George H. Grove and lastly to Chalmer F. Troxell, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Barbara (Dell) Snyder, Darlene K. (Grove) Zehner, Nancy F. (Grove) Brantner and Stanley A. Grove, all of Williamsburg. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin J. Dell, and two brothers, Clifford and Jack Beck. Mrs. Troxell was a member of Cove Forge United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. She was a homemaker who enjoyed animals, gardening, flowers and doing puzzles. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Cove Forge United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, with Pastor Barry E. Neal officiating. Private interment will be made in Henry's Lutheran at Yellow Springs Cemetery near Williamsburg. Jane Alice EVERETTS, of 4501 E. Main St. Belleville, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday March 3, 2005, at J. C. Blair Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Duquesne, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mae (Bowman) Lloyd. Her husband, Raymond Johnson Everetts, whom she married on Sept. 24, 1939, preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1968. Surviving are: three daughters, Carole J. Hazlett, of Lewistown, Doris Mae Everetts, of State College, and Alice R. Wagner, of Huntingdon; a son, Raymond William Everetts, of Mill Creek; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Linda L. Sneath; a brother, William B. Lloyd; a grandson, Bryan Shope; and a granddaughter, Christine Spencer. She attended Duquesne public schools. She worked for G. C. Murphy Company at their Huntingdon store for over 25 years, first as a clerk and then as a floor supervisor. During the same time she was a full-time mother and homemaker, raising five children. During her early years she lived in Duquesne and in Ohio. After marriage she moved to Huntingdon and lived on Fair Grounds Road, finally moving to her Belleville home in 1979. Along with her brother Bill, father and grandfather, she was a member of the Ohio Stump Jumpers Band, playing the fairgrounds at Huntingdon, Shade Gap, and throughout Ohio during the Depression years. Her love for music continued in later life. She was accomplished as a singer, guitar and piano player. She also had a love and interest in flowers and gardening. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with Pastor Donald Malliband Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, in Huntingdon. Dora Mae MOORE, 77, of R.R. 2, Box 35, Huntingdon, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born Dec. 19, 1927, in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew A. and Martha B. (David) Smith. She was first married to William H. Zimmerman who preceded her in death in 1950. She was united in mamage to Ray Glenn Moore April 21, 1951, in Huntingdon. Mr. Moore preceded her in death Feb. 1, 2000. She is survived by four sons: Michael M. Zimmerman, Steven W. Moore, Harry G. Moore and E. Glenn Moore, all of Huntingdon. R.R. 2. Eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren survive. A brother, Ronald D. Smith of Smithfield Township, survives. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Smith Jr. and Gerald Smith. Mrs. Moore lived in Baltimore, Md., prior to moving to Huntingdon and was employed as a trimmer at U.S. Sports in Huntingdon for 17 years, retiring in 1987. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of Mrs. Moore's family. Scott GRUGAN, M.D., 43, of Alexandria, died suddenly Thursday morning, March 3, 2005, while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. He was born Nov. 15, 1961, in Philadelphia, to Carol Sonya and Hartford Ernest Grugan, M.D. As a child. Scott resided in Williamsport and Reading. He was married Aug. 16, 1986, to Pamela (Pichler) Grugan with whom he had five children: Olivia, 15, Fiona, 13, Cecilia, 11, Joseph, (Seppi). 8, and Mario Rene, 1. He is survived by his stepfather, Glenn M. Frazier, of Huntingdon: stepsisters, Teresa Vancko, Glenda Hebe. Kitty Snyder, Sandra Douglass and Laura Falk; as well as half sisters, Claudia Grugan and Tina Grugan Heineman. Dr. Grugan was a graduate of Governor Muffin High School, Shillington. He graduated from Albright College in Reading and the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in diagnostic radiology before coming to Huntingdon to join the medical staff of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in 1991. He was certified by the American Board of Radiology and was a member of the American College of Radiology and the Radiologic Society of North America. While on the medical staff at J.C. Blair, Dr. Grugan served on numerous committees, including Medical Education and Library: Radiation Safety, which he chaired since 1997; Utilization Management; and Medical Records and Credentials. He served as vice chief of staff from 2002-2003 and was a founding member of the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation. At the time of his death, he was the medical director of the Radiology Department at J.C. Blair and the principal partner ot Huntingdon Radiology, P.C. Dr. Grugan will be mourned by the members of many diverse communities. He was an active member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon and a committed member of the church's Guatemala Circle, which in 1999 established a partnership with a Guatemalan elementary school, Colegio Miguel Angel Asturias. He and his family participated in all three volunteer delegations to the school organized by Stone Church, and he was working to assemble a medical delegation to Guatemala for the summer of 2006. He was committed to the home education of his five children and to the education of the deaf He was well known in the Huntingdon area for his devotion to his family, his involvement in community projects. his interest and enthusiasm for music, architecture, philosophy and religion and causes of many types. His motto for life was Carpe Diem, and he lived it fully. A memorial service will be held at Stone Church of the Brethren at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Freda Mae WIBLE, 93, of Three Springs, R.R. 1, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at her home. She had been ill for the past three years. Born Feb. 18, 1912, in Clay township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Merna (Park) Nead. She was united in marriage to Paul 0. Wible in June 1933. Mr. Wible preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1979. She is survived by a son, Dale L. Wible, and his wife, Kay, of Three Springs. A twin sister, Darlene Wible Cornelius died in 1971. There are seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lloyd Nead and Stanley Nead, and an infant sister, Mable, are deceased. Mrs. Wible was a member of Cherry Grove Church of God, Three Springs, R.R. She had also attended Fairview Evangelical Church, Three Spnngs, R.R. She was a member of the Three Springs Senior Citizens. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Wible had worked at a silk mill. Later, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Wible loved to sew and cook and was a wonderful baker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. William Hughes officiating. Interment will be made in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs. Ernest Elwood BANEY, 85, formerly of West Township, Petersburg. R.R. 1, and a resident of Valley View Retirement Community in Belleville for the past four years, died at 12:45 am. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown. Born April 9, 1919, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Clyde and Emma (Smith) Baney. He was united in marriage to Naomi Marle Stein Nov. 24, 1954, in Warriors Mark. His wife preceded him in death May 4, 2004. He is survived by four sons: Galen D. Baney, and his wife, Trudy, of Petersburg: Gordon C. Baney, and his wife, Jeanie, of Petersburg; Gary L. Baney, and his wife, Lynn, of Roaring Spring; and Bruce W. Baney of Huntingdon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters survive: James Baney of Pennsylvania Furnace; Clair Baney of Belleville; George Baney of Potters Mills; Stella Walker of Tyrone; and Mary Walker of State College. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Summers, and two brothers, John and Abe Baney. Mr. Baney was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Shavers Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Co. and was a former director of the Juniata Valley School Board. Mr. Baney served in the European Theatre during World War II with the United States Army's 52nd Chemical Brigade. He was a dairy farmer in West Township, Huntingdon County, from 1950 to 1977, when his sons, Galen and Gordon, took over the family's farming operation. He had also been a bus driver for a number of years for the Juniata Valley School District. He was a lifetime resident of the Juniata Valley area and at the family farm in West Township since 1950, until his move to Valley View Retirement Community. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with Pastor Joleen Willis officiating. Private interment will be made in Mooresville Cemetery, West Township, Petersburg. R.R. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside. Walter Harold THOMPSON, 68, of Belsano, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Lee UPMC Hospital. Born May 10, 1936, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Fred W. and Clara G. (Johns) Thompson. He was united in marriage to Naomi R. Dodson March 12, 1955, in Hesston. He is survived by his wife and four sons: Michael L. Thompson of Caroltown: Timothy P. Thompson Sr. of Virginia Beach. Va.; Barry L. Thompson of College Park, Md.; and Larry E. Garman of Martinsburg, W.Va. One sister, Clara G. Thompson of Philadelphia, and one brother, Fred W. Thompson Jr. of James Creek, survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Author B. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Barkley Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was on the board of directors of Belsano Camp and was past president of the Broad Top Burial Association. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 11 years. Mr. Thompson retired in 1992 from Veeder-Root of Altoona after 35 years of employment. He was also employed by Johnstown Hearse Rental and worked at Fred C. Bowser Funeral Home of Homer City. Interment will be made in Sherman's Valley Cemetery. Gary Lee WILLIAMS, 65, of Blair Chalet, Hollidaysburg, R.R. 1, and formerly of Robertsdale, died Friday. March 4, 2005, at Blair Chalet. Born Dec. 9, 1939, in Robertsdale, he was the son of the late John H. Williams and Virginia M. (O’Neal) Williams. He was formerly married to Mary Jane Hoffman. He is survived by two daughters, Natalie Noon of Saxton and Anita Oswalt of Riddlesburg; two sons, Jeffrey Williams of Claysburg and Gary Williams of Saxton; seven grandchildren: and three great-grandchildren. REEM, 85, of 220 North Laurel St., Manheim, and formerly of the Huntingdon area, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home Saturday, March 5, 2005. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Morris and Stella Reem. He was the husband of Elaine Biemesderfer Graybill Reem and they had been married for five months. His first wife, Marguerite Bailey Reem, died in 1992. Surviving. in addition to his wife, are two stepdaughters, Debra Ann Young of Mountville and Cynthia Sue Kauffman, and her husband, Timothy, of Landisville; a stepson, David Scott Graybill of Manheiin; two stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mr. Reern was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3376 in Ephrata. Other memberships included: American Legion Post No. 0034, Lancaster; National Rifle Association; North American Hunting Club; and life membership with Elstonvile Sportsmen Association. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, participating in the Normandy Invasion with the 9th Air Corps. For over 15 years, he worked for Mount Joy Wire Co. HOLLIBAUGH, 54, of 120 Pine St., Mount Union, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 5, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Feb. 28, 1951, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Leemond Coons and Natha Hollibaugh Harris. He was united in marnage to Lori Willoughby in 1971 in Mount Union. He is survived by his wife and three sons: Trevor Hollibaugh of Mount Union, Tyson Hollibaugh of Burnt Cabins and Thad Hollibaugh of Huntingdon. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Gage, Gavin, Hayden and Payton Hollibaugh, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Lee Hollibaugh, and a sister, Karen Cramer. Mr. Hollibaugh graduated from Mount Union Area High School with the Class of 1969. He was currently employed as a corrections officer at SCI Smithfield, where he began working in 1988. Prior to his employment at SCI Smithfield, he worked for Owens-Coming Fiberglas in Mount Union. Mr. Hollibaugh loved sports, especially tennis and basketball, having played for Mount Union schools. He also enjoyed golf, playing mostly at the American Legion County Club, Mount Union, where he was a member. He also managed the Braves in Mount Union Little League baseball for 15 years. Mrs. Lang had been in failing health. Born July 28, 1914, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Herman Oscar Feagley and Ida (Cresswell) Feagley. She was united in marriage to Jesse Lawrence Lang in Winchester, Va., in 1942. Mr. Lang preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1975. She is survived by a daughter, Kay (Lang) Deihl of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Kimberly Deihl of Huntingdon and Timothy Deihl of Alexandria; and one great-grandson, Devin Ray Deihl of Alexandria. One brother and one sister survive: Herman Oscar Feagley of Huntingdon. R.R., and Helen (Feagley) Mentzer of the DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon. Mrs. Lang was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McConnellstown, and was a member of the church's ladies' aid society. She was a former member of the Lincoln Grange. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntmgdon High School with the Class of 1933. She was employed in food service at the former Woodcock Elementary School from 1951 until 1972. Mrs. Lang enjoyed travel, doing word puzzles, reading and visiting with her family. Sheldon James "Porkchop" PORT, 70, of 314 13th St., Huntingdon, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, following an extended illness. Born May 7, 1934, in Polk, he was the son of the late Sheldon James Grumbling and Martha Jane Port. He is survived by two daughters and three sons: Kimberly (Port) Moore, and her husband, Willie; Dwayne A. Port, and his wife, Vicky, of New York; Dodie M. Port of Huntingdon; Joseph B. Port of Huntingdon and Tim Port of Huntingdon. Six grandchildren survive: Jason Kimbrel; Nicholas and Alexander Port of New York and David, Corey and Cassandra Port of Huntingdon. One sister, Bonnie Morningstar of Huntingdon, survives, as well as a brother by friendship for life, Ralph Barnett of Huntingdon, R.R. Mr. Port was affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon. He served in the United States Army, enlisting in 1957. He attained the rank of private second class with Company L Special Training Regiment staHoned at Fort Dix, N.J. He left Huntingdon in 1953 for Ohio, where he was employed by the Ford Motor Co. in plant maintenance at the Sandusky plant. He retired in 1989 from Ford, with 33 years of service, and returned to Huntingdon. In addition to his full-time employment, Mr. Port always retained part-time employment. Following his retirement, he continued with his part-time duties for as long as he was physically able. Mr. Port enjoyed NASCAR and all things motorized as he possessed an exceptional mechanical aptitude. He was known to be able to tell a good joke and, quite simply, loved people. HENRY, 66, of 4837 Charter Oak Road, Barree Township, Petersburg, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Jan. 14, 1939, in Commodore, Indiana County, he was the son of the late J. Claude and Ruth (Bowen) Henry. He is survived, at home, by his loving companion of over 23 years, Mary L. Bertres, and four daughters: Elaine Baum of Elizabethtown, Peggy J. Ramsey of Petersburg and Shelley Fultz and Janet Sheller, both of Richfield. Eight grandchildren also survive. He is survived by two brothers, Glenn O. Henry of Petersburg and Gary D. Henry of Bellefonte. Mr. Henry attended Faith United Methodist Church at the former Manor Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cloyd K. Davis American Legion Post No. 150, Petersburg; the Home Associatlon of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria: and the Petersburg Fire Co. and Shavers Creek Valley Fire Co. He was a life member of both the Alexandria Fire Co. and the Petersburg Catering Club. Mr. Henry was honorably discharged following service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Company A, 2nd-112th Infantry based in Huntingdon. He had been an over the road truck driver for a long number of years. Most recently, he was self-employed as owner and operator of his own truck. He was a lifelong resident of the Juniata Valley area and at his Barree Township home for the past 35 years. Virginia Grace VRANEY, 77, of Lewisberry, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at her home. She was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Huntingdon to the late Elliott and Mae (Steele) Hetrick. She is survived by three sons: Dennis Cramer, William Tomlinson and Nicholas Tomlinson; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. A sister, Marjorie Brunkhorst, survives. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annie (Hetrick) Kidd; and by brothers Richard, Nicholas and E. Gerald Hetrick. (Rogers) O'CONNOR, 101, of Langhorne, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Middletown Township. Born and reared in Mount Union, she was a resident of Bucks County since 1997. She is survived by one granddaughter, Deborah Galka of Bensalem; three great-grandchildren: Vincent L. Bodnar, and his wife, Amy, of Yardley, Michelle Miller, and her husband, Mike, of Bensalem and Rachael Galka of Bensalem. Eight great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee O'Connor, a daughter, Loree Bodnar; two grandsons, Robert and David Bodnar; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Galka. Mrs. O'Connor was formerly active with the Western Presbyterian Church in Washington. D.C. She was a secretary at the Pentagon for 25 years, having retired in 1967. Born March 22, 1935, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of Mrs. Ralph Dewey, who survives in Gettysburg, and the late Ralph Dewey. She was united in marriage to Ronald C. Goss June 29, 1957, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Petersburg by the Rev. John A. Swavely. She is survived by her husband and two sons and two daughters: Caron Goss; Stephen Goss, and his wife, Janet; Susan Abbott, and her husband, Craig; and Kevin Goss, and his wife, Teresa. She is also survived by five grandsons, all living in the Seattle, Wash., area. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Dewey, and a grandson, Mitchell Goss. Mrs. Goss graduated from Juniata Valley High School with the Class of 1953 and from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse with the Class of 1957. Helen Marie (Bond) HARRIS, 85, of 1129 Moore St., Huntingdon, and most recently a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at The Oaks. Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Doiph Bond and Lillian (McCann) Bond, both of whom preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Ira Elwood Harris Sept. 24, 1944, in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Harris preceded her in death March 27, 1999. She is survived by one daughter, Debra Kay Hickes, and her husband, Howard "Tink" Hickes, of Huntingdon. She is also survived by two grandchildren, James P. Mills and Bradley Hetrick, both of State College; two step-grandchildren, Timothy and Nichole Hickes, both of Huntingdon: and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Edith Bechdel of Howard, survives. Mrs. Harris was the youngest of 14 children and was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Harris was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where she had had been a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Huntingdon Chapter, and of Jobel Court, Ladies of the Shrine in Altoona. She was a former member and past president of the auxiliary to the Standing Stone Post No. 1754 VFW, Huntingdon. Mrs. Harris was an active volunteer for the Huntingdon County Democratic Committee and also volunteered with the American Cancer Society. She also served as a Girl Scout leader. She graduated from Morrisdale Township High School with the Class of 1938 and from the Nelson Beauty Academy in Lewistown in 1940. She was employed by the Elizabeth Arden Beauty Salons of the Hosel Kohns and Stewarts' Departments Stores in downtown Baltimore, Md. She also worked in the office of the Glenn L. Martin airplane factory during World War II. In 1947, Mr. and Mrs. Harris returned to Huntingdon where Mrs. Harris managed the Nell's Beauty Salon and took an office position with Valley Rural Electric. She also worked for several years as a hostess for Servomation Co. and Gardner's Candies. Helen will be forever remembered for the times that she made her family laugh. KANE, 75, of 104 West Halley St., Mouth Union, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia following a brief illness. Born August 18, 1929, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Mayward O. Kane and Lanta V. (Sunderland) Kane Asper. He was united in marriage to Erma B. (Bilger) Kane April 25, 1957, in Three Springs by the Rev. Charles Rhodes. Mrs. Kane survives at their home. He is survived by a son, Gerald E. "Jerry" Kane, and his wife, Melody, of Newton Hamilton, and a daughter, Sheryl A. Schmidt, and her husband, Daniel, of Mount Union; three grandchildren, Karina Landrum, Wesley Kane and Zachary Schmidt; and one great-grandson, Kaiden Landrum. He is also survived by a brother, Carl O. Kane, of New Alexandria and a sister, Betty (Kane) Brubaker, of McVeytown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Kenneth and Ralph Kane. Mr. Kane attended the New Life Fellowship Church in Mount Union. He attended Mifflin County public schools and also Mount Union High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He retired on disability from Overhead Door in Lewistown. Prior to that, he had worked for 19 years at the American Viscose plant in Lewistown. Mr. Kane will be remembered as an avid fan of Penn State sports and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates teams. When he was healthy, he enjoyed playing the guitar and making music with his friends. He also loved playing bingo and was affectionately known as the "Bingo King" at Woodland. She had been in failing health for the past year. Born May 21, 1913, in Roaring Spring, she was the daughter of the late Roy Hileman and Mary (Howard) Hileman. She was united in marriage to Samuel F. Garner Dec. 14, 1934. Mr. Gamer preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1985. She is survived by a son, Roger L. Garner, and his wife, Carol, of Huntingdon, R.R. 4, and a daughter Pamela (Garner) McVicker of Concord, N.C. Mrs. Garner is also survived by four grandchildren: R. She was an avid bridge player and golfer, and enjoyed dancing and reading. On May 22, 1965, she and Mr. Garner served as the chairpersons of the Huntingdon Charity Ball for the benefit of the J.C. Mr. Book was a member and former trustee of the Richvale United Methodist Church and had served on various church committees. He was a member of the Tuscarora Grange, the Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co.; and for many years, served as an officer of the Shade Valley Cemetery Association. Mr. Book was a farmer all of his life. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Dec. 20, 1934, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Katherine (McGee) Sponeybarger and the stepdaughter of the late John Lee Moyer. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Gates Jr. Nov. 11, 1955. She is survived by her husband at home and by one son, Steven M. Gates of Berlin, and one daughter, Beth A. Robinson of Orbisonia. She is also survived by five grandchildren. Two sisters survive, Kay Houck of Orbisonia and Ann Fegan of Mount Union. A daughter, Michelle L. Wible, preceded her in death May 17, 1998. Mrs. Gates was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing in 1954. Leon Charles "Ike" EICHELBERGER, 63, of R.R. 1, Box 215, Birdvale Road, Mapleton, died at 11:58 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Amy, where he resided. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Born May 24, 1941, in York, he was the son of Cleo Charles Eichelberger of Smithburg, Md., and the late Frances (Minnick) Eichelberger. He was married to Ellen (Swanger) Eichelberger who survives in McVeytown. He is survived by the following children: Ella Krouse of the Orhisonia-Rockhill Furnace area; Juanita Detwiler of Blacklog; Jenny Francis of Lancaster; Bonita Holloway of Mapleton; Vickie Dee Burger of Maryland; Jessy James Eichelberger of Jacksonville, Fla.; James W. Swanger of Mapleton; and Amy J. Ammon of Mapleton, R.R. 1. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Leon Charles "Buddy" Eichelberger and Clint Charles Swanger; and a brother, Kenneth E. Eichelberger Sr. Mr. Eichelberger was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Eichelberger owned and operated a bicycle shop in Huntingdon, "Ike's Bike Shop" for several years. He loved to attend the Belleville sales and go "junking" at auctions, yard sales and flea markets. He enjoyed baseball and was a fan of Mickey Mantle and Barry Bonds. Mount Union. Harry D. PETERS, 88, a resident of The Village at Morrison's Cove, and formerly of Coalmont, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at The Village. Born Nov. 20, 1916, at Saxton, R.R., he was the son of Sylvester and Sadie (Brode) Peters. Both of his parents preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Gladys Wright Jan. 24, 1942. She preceded him in death in February 2004. Two sons and two daughters survive: Gary Peters, and his wife, Sherry. of Saxton; Ernest Peters, and his wife, Mary, of Mount Joy; Sandra Davis, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Huntingdon; and Geraldine Lernley, and her husband, Roy, of Dover. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A niece, Patty (Peters) Yablonski of Coalmont, survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Peters. Lester Leroy BOOZEL, 82, of 3820 state Route 103 South, McVeytown, having been in failing health for the past two months, entered into life everlasting at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005. Born Nov. 1, 1922, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Bilger) Boozel. He was united in marriage to Helen Margaret Harshbarger on Nov. 4, 1945, in Greencastle, Pa. Mrs. Boozel survives at their home. Also surviving are: daughters, Connie Fortney and husband Dick, Lewistown, Paula Mohler and husband Bob, Huntingdon, and Karen Rogers and husband Bub, Imperial, Mo.; a son, Joe and wife Carol, Three Springs; brothers, Richard, Brooks, Robert and Bertis; sisters, Alice Bollinger, Mary Harshbarger, Freda Worthy, Geraldine Keefer, Thelma Miller, Elsie Pollack and Shirley Grove; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was one of 18 children, and was preceded in death by: brothers, Melvin, Foster, John and Albert; and sisters, Gladys Johnston and Stella Guisti. He worked at Penna. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, and was a life member of Camp Syoc Hunting Camp, in Licking Creek. He was also a member of Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband and family man. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosie Elizabeth JONES, 97, formerly of Blairs Mills, R.R., and more recently a resident of Manor Care, Chambersburg, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Manor Care. Born Sept. 27, 1907, in Todd Township, Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ascha D. (Mellott) Miller. She was united in marriage to George "Jason" Jones who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1958. She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Vivian M. Gibble of Blairs Mills, Richard "Glenn" Jones of Mercersburg and Kenneth "Carl" Jones of Chambersburg. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Hazel Caroline FRAZER, 85, a resident of Huntingdon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon, and formerly of Alexandria and the DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon, died at 11:45 p.m. March 14, 2005, at the nursing center. Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Alexandria, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Mary (Chilcoat) Frazer. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert C. and Isaac M. Frazer; and two sisters, Anna M. and Winifred I. Frazer. Ms. Frazer was a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church. She graduated from Alexandria High School with the Class of 1937 and from Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing, Philadelphia. in 1954. Following her schooling in Philadelphia. she remained at the Albert Einstein Medical Center as a registered nurse until her retirement. Following her retirement, she returned to Alexandria and also lived for a number of years at DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon. Ms. Frazer enjoyed doing for others. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting. Private interment will be made in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Marjorie Louise Shope KYLE, 71, of Winchester, Va., and formerly of Huntingdon, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Winchester Medical Center. She was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Huntingdon, the daughter of John Paterson and Bessie Viola Wilson Shope. She was united in marriage to James Henry Kyle Jr. June 17, 1967, in Huntingdon. Mr. Kyle preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Jeff Kyle of Brucetown, Va.; a stepdaughter, Dolly Ranck and a stepson, James Henry Kyle III, both of Huntingdon County; and a grandson, Michael McGaughlin of Pennsylvania. "Bernie" (Taylor) STONER, 61, of York, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at her residence. She was born in Huntingdon County Jan. 7, 1944, a daughter of the late George and Esther (Emerson) Taylor. She and her husband, William J. Stoner, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary Dec. 16, 2004. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Brian Rupert of Wrightsville and Tim Rupert of Red Lion; three grandchildren, Demy Hoffman, Gigi Hoffman and Sam Rupert. Two brothers, Bill Taylor of Texas and Barry Taylor of Huntingdon, and two sisters, Bea Port of Middletown and Bettina Harbaugh of Huntingdon, survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Buchanon and Birdetta Grenawalt. Mrs. Stoner attended Living Word Community Church in Red Lion. She was a member of the Iris Club of York. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School and worked for McCrory's Distribution Center for 12 years and at the Bon Ton at the York Galleria Mall for 12 years. Her ashes were interred in Kreutz Creek Cemetery, Hellam. Joseph Milson DETWILER, 74, of Three Springs, R.R. 1, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntmgdon. He was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Saltillo, the son of the late George W. and Ruth E. (Hoffman) Detwiler. He was married to Bernice L. Starr Aug. 16, 1952. Mrs. Detwiler preceded him in death Sept. 23, 2004. Surviving are a son and daughter, Daniel Detwiler of Columbus, Ohio, and Lisa Elgabrowny of Three Springs. There are six grandchildren. Three sisters and three brothers survive: Daisy Nycum of McConnellsburg, Winifred Halblieb of Elizabethtown, Freeman Detwiler of Rockhill Furnace, Theodore Detwiler of Hustontown, Harold Detwiler of Huntingdon and Mary Giardine of Mill Creek. She was born Aug. 2, 1916, at Keefertown, Eden Valley, a daughter of Mary Harpster. She was reared in the home of Samuel Carper. She was married to Fred L. Couch Aug. 8, 1934, at Warriors Mark. Her husband died Jan. 25, 1989. She is survived by five daughters and one son: Phyllis Briggs of Bellwood; Fred C. Couch of Tyrone; Freda Schroth of Altoona; Linda Couch of Philadelphia: and Martha Brenneman and Mildred Miller, both of Petersburg. There are nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters survive: Geraldine Meek of Los Angeles, Calif.; Sophie David of Pinecroft; Earl Carper of Sinking Valley; Percy Carper of California; Wilson Carper of Altoona; and Alberta Dannaway and Howard Carper of Baltimore, Md. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Arthur. Mrs. Couch was a member of the Warriors Mark Umted Methodist Church where she was active as a Sunday school secretary/treasurer. She was also a member of the Sunday School Association for 32 years, president of her Sunday school class for eight years and Huntingdon County Sunday School Association youth officer for 10 years. Interment will follow at Keller Cemetery, Blairfour. William Vernon GODSHALL, 92, of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the village. Born Feb. 11, 1913, in Centre Hall, he was the son of the late Vernon and Margaret (Kline) Godshall. In 1931, he married Miriam Shook who preceded him in death in 1981. In 1985, he married Ellen Hagler Nash who also preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sue Fine and M. Elaine Bartow, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Theodore Godshall, and a daughter, Judith Godshall. Dr. Godshall was the first superintendent of the newly formed Juniata Valley School District and was a former resident Southside Alexandria, Porter Township. He also taught in public schools and at Juniata College, Huntingdon. For 25 years, he served as superintendent of schools at Hanover Park and Whippany Park high schools in New Jersey where he was recognized by state and national organizations for outstanding schools in America. Interment was made in Heckman Cemetery, Spring Mills. Esther A. DRACE, 88, of Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Health Center. Born in Jacobs, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late George Wesley and Nenie Mae Park Dell. Her husband, Charles S. Drace, preceded her in death in 1980. She is survived by two sons, Charles D. Drace of Mount Joy and H. Eugene Drace, and his wife, Elaine Tavares, of Maytown; and two daughters, Patricia E. Gingrich of Lancaster and Peggy I. Benedict of Elizabethtown. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Five sisters survive: Lola Butler, and her husband, Charles, and Vera Gurd, and her husband, Harry, all of Mapleton: E. Irene Mellott of Shirleysville; Myrtle Sherick of Saltillo; and Betty Bloom of Huntingdon; as well as two brothers, Marshall E. Dell of Mapleton and James H. Crownover, and his wife, Darlis, of Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Lightner. Mrs. Drace was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maytown. Formerly of East Harrisburg Avenue, Elizabethtown, and Huntingdon County, Mrs. Drace worked as a supervisor for the former AMP Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 1969. She was known for decorating wedding cakes and enjoyed flower gardening and sitting on her back porch watching birds. Private interment, with the Rev. Robert M. Pauline Ruth McCarty EUBANK, 72, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. Christus Hospital, Texarkana, Texas, after a lifelong fight with Marfan's Syndrome. Born Feb. 13, 1933, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of John Howard "Red" McCarty and Mary Alice Itinger Patel McCarty Dysard, who resided in Huntingdon. She was united in marriage Oct. 7, 1960, in Carlsbad, N.M., to W.H. "Bill" Eubank who preceded her in death. She is survived by four daughters and one son-in-law: Diana Hinton of Ashdown, Ark.; Beth Foster of Lake Jackson, Texas; Cathy Eubank of New Boston, Texas; and Billie Pierce, and her husband. Gregory, of Sherman, Texas. She is also survived by one son and daughterin-law, Hoskins Eubank, and his wife, Amanda, of Sherman, Texas. Surviving are two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Ellen Hoffer, and her husband, Paul, and Sara Van Eekelen of Huntingdon, and one brother, John K. McCarty of Lake Havazu, Ariz. There are 10 grandchildren: Cynthia Bridges, and her husband, Mitchell, of Garvin, Okla.; Mike Leonard and Brandi Hinton of Ashdown. Ark.; James Foster, stationed in Korea; Alex Foster of Dallas, Texas; Niles and Nathan Eubank of New Boston, Texas; and John Stone, Casey Stone, Samuel Pierce and London Eubank, all of Sherman, Texas. There are seven great-grandchildren: Cory Leonard of Ashdown, Ark., and Daniel Todd, Deanna, Natasha, Christopher, Daphney and Isabella Bridges, all of Garvin, Okla. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Eubank was preceded in death by a stepson, Harold B. Eubank of El Paso. Texas. a brother, James K. McCarty of Huntingdon, and a son-in-law, Pete Hinton of Ashdown, Ark. Mrs. Eubank was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Congregation in Hooks, Texas. She graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1951, then went to work at a hospital in Harrisburg. In 1959, she moved to Odessa, Texas, where she met her future husband, Bill Eubank. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Bill's hometown, New Boston, Texas, and when he became Bowie County surveyor, she worked in his office typing deeds and abstracts and drawing maps and plats. During this time she also reared six children. After the death of her husband, she moved to Cushing, Okla., where she became a certified nurses aide. She worked at Cushing Memorial Hospital for four years. She enrolled at Langston University, Langston, Okla., majoring in geriatric nursing. She attended for two years until she was too ill to continue. Mrs. Eubank then returned to the family home in New Boston, Texas, in 1998, and resided there until her death. CLAPPER, 83, of Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, and formerly of Dudley, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Homewood. Born Jan. 28, 1922, in Wood, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Williams) Spencer. She was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Clapper in 1946 in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Clapper preceded her in death Jan. 9, 2002. She is survived by one son, William S. Clapper, and his wife, Diane K. (Rinard), of West Chester, Ohio, and one granddaughter, Melissa Lynn Clapper of Philadelphia. A brother, Craig Spencer, and his wife. Ann, of Saxton, survive, as well as two sisters-in-law, Marie Spencer of Saxton and Henrietta Spencer of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Spencer Sr. and Donald Spencer. Mrs. Clapper was a member of Dudley United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving as treasurer, board member and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of Saxton Chapter 161 Order of the Eastern Star, for which she was past worthy matron and past district deputy. She was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and Pittsburgh Beauty School. Mrs. Clapper owned and operated a beauty shop in Dudley for over 55 years until her retirement. Bonnie Jane RUPERT, 64, of 534 Petersburg Pike, Logan Township, Petersburg, R.R., died at 5:49 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Altoona Health System, Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. Born Jan. 24, 1941, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Emma (Estep) Everhart. She was united in marriage to Richard Alan Rupert Nov. 6, 1965, in Petersburg. She is survived by her husband at home and by two sons, Steven Walker Everhart and Patrick Shawn Rupert, both of Petersburg. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Chelsea Rupert of Huntingdon. Two brothers, Robert W. Everhart of Alexandria and Melvin Everhart of Petersburg, and one sister, Patricia C. Everhart of Petersburg, survive. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Richard, two sisters, Penny Halverson and Thelma M. Barr, and a brother, Donald P. Everhart. Mrs. Rupert was a member of the Petersburg Church of the Nazarene where she participated in many church activities and functions. A lifetime resident of Petersburg, Mrs. Rupert attended Jumata Valley public schools and worked for a long number of years at the Technitrol Plant in Petersburg until its closing. She then went to work for Coil Systems of State College until retiring in 2000. She enjoyed flower gardening. Box 21, Saltillo, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. He had been in declining health the past two years. Born March 8, 1914, in Woodvale, he was the son of the late Berlyn and Hattie (Ramsey) Cornelius. He was first married to Geraldine (Hinish) Cornelius who preceded him in death in 1970. His second marriage was to Tomiko (Izawa) Wilson Cornelius, who survives. I. Kenneth Cornelius, and his wife, Karen, of Hustontown; Carol Miller, and her husband, Charles, of Chambersburg; and Lanny Cornelius, and his wife, Debbie, of Maddensville. Two stepsons, Tom Wilson of Gettysburg and Jim Wilson of Three Springs, survive. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A sister, Edwinna Oberman of Huntingdon, survives. He was preceded in death by a grandchild and three brothers, Marian Cornelius, Millard Cornelius and Jay Cornelius. Mr. Cornelius attended Immanuel Bible Church in Three Springs. He was known for his writing of spiritual Christian poetry and used it in recitation at some of the local churches. Mr. Cornelius was most recently employed at Fulton Builders and Supply, McConnellsburg, where he worked until his retirement in 1993. In the past, he had worked for 16 years in coal mining in the Robertsdale area and for several years at General Motors, Wilmington, Del. He loved animals, especially horses, and also enjoyed training them. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Immanuel Bible Church, Three Springs, with the Rev. Steve Heaster officiating. Interment will be made in Saltillo Cemetery. Dorothy A. (Jackson) ELDER, 75, of Audubon, died Sunday morning, March 20, 2005, at the Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Providence after an illness. She was born in Detroit, Mich., July 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ann (Streightiff) Jackson. She was the widow of J. Robert Elder. She is survived by a daughter, Amy Elder Gaus of Audubon, and three grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Elder and Kier Elder. Mrs. Elder was a member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Audubon. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Association of American University Women (AAUW) and the Roundtable of Christians and Jews. She had also served as president of the Community Concert Association of Mifflin County and was a foster grandparent in Montgomery County. Mrs. Elder graduated from Huntingdon High School and Juniata College with the Class of 1950. She worked privately as a music teacher. Interment will be made in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Clayton Galentine WILEY, infant son of George Wiley and Amanda Hardy of Rayland, Ohio, died at 5:39 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, after his birth at 4:31 a.m. Sunday at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Along with his parents, the baby is survived by his maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Hazel Hardy of Mapleton. R.R.; paternal grandmother, Ernestine Wiley of Rayland, Ohio: maternal great-grandmothers, Rose Parson of Orbisonia and Velma Hardy of Mapleton, R.R.; and paternal great-grandmother, Virginia Wiley of Smithfield, Ohio. Ernest Dell officiating. H. Doyle BRINDLE, 82, of Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, formerly of Entriken, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Aitch, a son of the late George W. and Pearl (Kriger) Brindle. On Dec. 14. 1946, he was married to his first wife, the former Gladys Shultz, who preceded him in death Sept. 25, 1997. On Oct. 26, 2001, in Alexandria, he married the former Mary D. Lancaster who survives. A son, Larry E. Brindle, and his wife, the former Joanne Shalamanda, of Pine Grove, survive, along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive: Gerald F. Brindle of James Creek; Wanda Meshyock and her husband, Paul, of Thompsontown; Sarah Gill and her husband, Ed, of Baltimore, Md.; Lillian Meshyock of James Creek; and Thelma Hansen of Agbo, Ore. A sister-in-law, Dorothy Brindle, of Broad Top City, and a brother-in-law, Mike Skvarka, of Williamsport, also survive. Mr. Brindle was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Brindle, Wayne Brindle and Randall Brindle, and sisters, Edna McCall and Pauline Skvarka. Mr. Brindle was a member of St. Mathews United Church of Christ in Entriken where he served as a past deacon and elder. He was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1942, and was a member of Woodcock Valley Lions Club. He was employed at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon for many years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Interment will be made in the Entriken Cemetery. Mary E. MORT, 92, of Orbisonia, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born July 3, 1912, in Saxton, she was the daughter of the late Charles Monroe and Ida (May) Hile She was united in marriage to Alfred L. "King" Mort Feb. 1, 1936. in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Mort preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Sharynn Book, and her husband, Garry, of Three Springs, R.R. There are four grandchildren: Dara Lynn Bennett, Krista Scott, G. Joel Book and Andrea Book; and seven great-grandchildren: Paul Bennett, Nicholas Bennett, Jarrett Scott, Madison Book, Dalton Bennett, Shayna Scott and Gabrielle Scott. Two sisters survive: Martha Black of Morrison's Cove Nursing Home, Martinsburg, and Grace DeLong of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Harry Otis and Robert, and one sister, Iva Carper. Mrs. Mon was a member of Rockhiil Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace, where, for over 50 years, she maintained perfect attendance. She taught Sunday school and Bible school and served the home department of the church. She also enjoyed making haps for missionary work. Additionally, she was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Although not a member, she was active in helping the Orbisonia-Rockhill Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Mort was a homemaker; however, during World War II, she was employed by Eastern Aircraft, Baltimore, Md. She provided child care for a number of children in the Orbisonia area, and was especially fond of Lisa Grubb and Julie Doyle. She enjoyed collecting ceramic angels. Freda B. HEVERLY, 95, formerly of Mill Creek and Huntingdon, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born Oct. 20, 1909, in Union Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of Edgar Sloan and Margaret Gertrude (McDonald) Boring. In 1934. she was united in marriage to Edward W. Dore, who preceded her in death in 1938. Her second marriage, in 1946, was to Robert J. Heverly. They were married in Huntingdon by Dr. Golightly. Mr. Heverly preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Heverly had been a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church since 1926. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was church pianist from 1926-1957. She also served on the board of Baptist Homes for 30 years and the American Cancer Society for 35 years. Mrs. Heverly was the first woman to serve on Mill Creek Borough Council. She had been employed as manager of McCrory's in Huntingdon and later worked for Swigart Associates, Huntingdon. Landis officiating. Interment will be made in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Joyce E. WILKINS, 58, of Nutmeg Road, Saxton, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. She was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Woodbury Township, a daughter of the late Robert and Freda (Feight) Snoeberger. On Feb. 14, 1983, in Pine Grove United Methodist Church, she married Larry J. Wilkins, who survives. A son, Todd M. Benner, and his wife, the former Wendy K. King, of Phoenix, Ariz., and a grandson, Lucas Andrew Benner, also of Phoenix, Ariz., survive. Also surviving are a sister, Terri, and her husband, William Stricklind of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Wilkins was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church where she was the pianist and organist. She was an administrative assistant for the Department of Environmental Protection. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson. "Toots" CHERRY, 96, a resident of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, since February 2005 and formerly of Huntingdon, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday. March 23, 2005, at Epworth Manor, following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Huntingdon, the daughter of Warren Blair and Margaret Alice (Hoffman) Cox, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Dean L. Cherry March 6, 1940, at the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2000. One daughter, Barbara C. Keith of Huntingdon survives. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Keith in June 2000 and two brothers, Frederick Blair Cox and Edward William Cox. Mrs. Cherry was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church She attended Huntmgdon public schools and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, sewing and knitting. NOBLE, 76, of 37 East Milford St., Mount Union, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Lewistown Hospital after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer. He was born April 13, 1928, in Robertsdale, a son of the late Charles A. and Alverta E. (Brown) Noble. On March 15, 1970, he was married to Joanne (Copenhaver) Noble at the Mount Union Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James Matz. His wife survives at home. Also surviving are a daughter, Maxine "Mimi" Johnson and her husband, Greg, Harrisburg; and one grandson, Noah Johnson. Also surviving are two sisters: Joan Edlow and her husband, Jules, Baltimore, Md., and Dorothy Noble and her companion, Robert Ferguson, Holidaysburg; and one brother, David A. Noble and his wife, Doris, New Mexico. He was a member of the Mount Union Presbyterian Church. He served on the Mount Union Water Authority and was a Democratic committeeman. Mr. Noble was a graduate of the Orbisonia High School Class of 1945. He was retired from PennDOT as a construction manager with 42 years of service. He loved his work and had an exceptional work ethic. In his earlier years, he was a machinist and coal tender for the East Broad Top Railroad, Rockhill, when the railroad was fully operational. Mr. Noble loved to hunt and fish and was an avid gardener. He was also handy as a carpenter and spent much time remodeling the Admiral Sims historic property located in Rockhill Furnace. Born Dec. 11, 1932, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Samuel P. Sr. and Jennie (Numer) Mansberger. He was united in marriage to Patricia J. Kelley July 31, 1955. He is survived by his wife at home and the following children: LouAnne Mansberger-Darby, and her husband. Randall, of Blairs Mills; Pastor Daniel Mansberger, and his wife, Tresa, of Calvin; Tammy von Mansberg, and her husband, Mark. of Mount Union, R.R.; Lieutenant Colonel Samuel P. Mansberger III, and his wife, Frances, of Woodbridge, Va.: and Dr. James Mansberger, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Huntingdon. There are 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A brother, J. William "Bill" Mansberger of Patton, survives. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one sister. Mr. Mansberger was a member of Calvin United Methodist Church, where he had been active in various leadership positions. At one time, he was active with Troop 215, Boy Scouts of America, Calvin; the Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Co.; and the Trough Creek Valley Promise Keepers. Mr. Mansberger was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea from 1953-1955. He retired from SCI Huntingdon and prior to that he was employed at Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed all types of sports and especially liked attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was very loving and devoted to his family. Box 333, Mapleton, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 23, 1919, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Nellie F. (Heeter) Wible. She was first married to William A. Rutherford April 7, 1944. He was killed in action during World War II March 30, 1945, in Luzon, Philippines. She was united in marriage to Vernon W, "Ben" Anderson Nov. 12, 1948, in Mapleton. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death March 30, 1989. Two daughters survive: Linda L. Anderson of Mapleton and Jean M. Vadella, and her husband, Robert. of State College. Two grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Vadella Jr. and Katherine "Katie" Vadella, survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter W. and Bernard Wible. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mapleton, where she was a longtime church treasurer and teacher of the beginner's Sunday school class. She graduated from Mount Union High School with the Class of 1935. In her early years, she worked in the county commissioner's office in the Huntingdon County Courthouse and eventually became chief clerk. She was also the Mapleton tax collector for many years. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed spending time with her family at their cottage on Aughwick Creek near Maddensville and traveling with her husband. Lula Grace BISHOP, 90, a resident of the long-term care unit of Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, and formerly of New Grenada, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Fulton County Medical Center. Born Sept. 16, 1914, in Six Mile Run, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie (Kerling) McQuait. She was united in marriage to Charles N. Bishop June 11, 1937. Mr. Bishop preceded her in death June 1952. She is survived by one son, Harold G. Bishop, and his wife, Janet, of Everett, and a daughter, Donna L. Henry of Carlisle. There are six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A sister, Alma Houck of Orbisonia, survives. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Keenan, and four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Bethel Church of God, New Grenada. She retired in 1979 from Forbes Road High School, where she had been a cafeteria worker for 19 years. YOUNG, 50, of 1415 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Feb. 23, 1955, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Leroy M. Sr. and Harriet L. (Henry) Gladlelter. She was first married to Lloyd Eugene Gill in 1986. He preceded her in death in 1994. In 2002, she was united in marriage to George A. Young who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by a daughter, Kylie J. Gill at home; a stepdaughter, Tammy M. Stailey and a stepson Benjamin Stailey One sister and three brothers survive: Janice Hoover of Huntingdon, Leroy Gladfelter Jr. of McVeytown, Dennis Gladfelter of Stanley, Va., and William Gladfelter of Mill Creek. Two sons, Scott Gill and Spencer Gill, died in infancy. A brother, Donald Gladfelter, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Young was a 1973 graduate of Hunungdon Area High School. For 25 years, Mrs. Young was employed as a supervisor in quality control at Bonney Forge in Mount Union. She was a member of the Standing Stone Garden Club. Interment will be made in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Roy D. DONELSON, 45, of 5 Hill St., Robertsdale, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Robertsdale. Born July 16, 1959, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Lester H. Donelson and Mildred (Wible) Donelson. He is survived by four sisters: Elsie Smith, and her husband, Charles of Hustontown, Shirley Donelson of Robertsdale, Maxine Prough, and her husband, James, of Huntingdon and Joyce Deshong of Cassville; one brother, Lester Donelson, and his wife, Gail, of Six Mile Run; two half sisters, Rose Parsons of Orbisonia and Alberta Stiffler of Huntingdon; and one half brother, Nelson Donelson of New Jersey. There are seven nieces, two nephews, 10 great-nieces and three great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Donelson; a sister, Gladys Donelson; a niece, Lisa Neudar; a half brother, Jimmy Donelson; and a half sister, Sylvia Donelson. Mr. Donelson was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Broad Top Area Sportsmen Association and the Broad Top Land Lease. He graduated from Tussey Mountain High School with the Class of 1979. He had worked at the furniture factory in Wood and as a carpenter for Shawn Heath General Contractor. Mr. Donelson enjoyed woodworking, collecting bottles, fishing, four-wheeling and family gatherings. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, at the Curtis A. Frederick Howard "Tommy" THOMPSON, 64, of rural Huntingdon, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at The Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, State College. Born April 26, 1940, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Samuel Ray and Mary Jane (Feaster) Thompson. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a radar technician with the rank of technical sergeant. He later retired from the Hughes Corp. in California in contract administration. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, State College. He was also a member of the Standing Stone Golf Club. He loved to golf and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by brothers and sisters Charles R. Thompson, of rural Huntingdon, Anna Belle Thomas, of Woodstock, Ga., Edward E. Thompson, of Bellwood, and Betsy Marie Corpman, in Texas. One brother, Samuel R. Thompson Jr., preceded him in death. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Eva J. STEVER, 67, of Altoona, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Oct. 3, 1937, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Rena (Whitsel) Stever. She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Ritchey, and her husband, Thomas, of Imler, and two grandchildren, Heather and Allison Ritchey of Imler. A sister, Nancy Byrnes of Hollidaysburg, survives. Two brothers, Frank and Robert Stever, and a sister, Laverne Hines, preceded her in death. Ms. Stever graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1955. She retired from Holiday Bowl as a clerk and previously worked at the original Ray's Diner for many years. Ms. Stever enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family. Evelyn Mae CHILCOTE, 75, of Waterfall Road, Hustontown, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the home of her son and daughterin-law, Rick and Wanda Chilcote of Hustontown. Born July 3, 1929, in Waterfall, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Vera (Black) Strait. She was united in marriage to Willis Leroy Chilcote who preceded her in death June 25, 1993. She is survived by three sons: William G. Chilcote of Hustontown, Terry W. Chilcote of Estero, Fla., and Ricky L. Chilcote of Hustontown. There are eight grandchildren: Dawne, Shane, Shawn, Dusky, Shannon, Ryan, Michael and Leslie: and five great-grandchildren: Dana, Brett, Brooklyn, Dylan and Jackson. One brother, Perry Strait of McConnellsburg, and one sister, Jane Carmack of Hustontown, survive. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Robert, Carl and Guy; and one sister, Louise Hoffman. Mrs. Chilcote was a member of My Father's House Ministries, McConnellsburg. She had worked as a beautician and as a licensed practical nurse. Mrs. Chilcote was active in both church and community. She was always there with a helping hand and caring heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. Interment will be made in Hustontown Cemetery, Hustontown. Dorothy Jean BLACK, a resident of Lancaster, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 26, 2005, while being cared for at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. Her death followed a brief illness. Born in Robertsdale, she was the fourth child of the late Coyle and Nora (Bartholow) Tewell. Her husband of 50 years, Allen B. Black, preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons: Preston Black, and his wife, Christina, of Lancaster: Dennis Black, and his wife, Kerry, of Bolivar, Tenn.; and David Black, and his wife, Susan, of Conestoga. There are 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth H. Tewell, and three sisters: Eunice Niland, Maxine Croft and Ruth L. Travis. Mrs. Black was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, from 1964 to the present. She offered her services to the church's volunteer corps for many years. Mrs. Black became a registered nurse in 1946, graduating from nursing school in Cumberland, Md. She began her nursing career in Oakland, Calif., and then worked in Washington state caring for Native Americans with TB. She returned to Pennsylvania after World War II, married and started a family. While residing in New Castle, she practiced nursing in Youngstown, Ohio, and New Castle hospitals until 1958. After a move to Bradford, she practiced nursing there until the final move to Lancaster in 1963. After working for many years at Lancaster General Hospital, she ended her nursing career of 54 years in 2000 with 17 years of employment at Conestoga View. Known as "Boog" by her grandchildren, she enjoyed spending time with her sons' families. Her neighbors, friends and coworkers were also an important part of her life and she often played cards, went to lunch or traveled with them. Mrs. Black's love of "The Mountain," as she referred to Robertsdale, her hometown, never faltered. Throughout the years, she traveled there as often as possible to visit and attend family and high school reunions. She made her last visit to attend her high school class' 60th reunion. She treasured her friendships and was always ready for a trip back to "The Mountain." A lifelong gardener. Mrs. Black loved the outdoors and spent many hours on her porch watching birds, especially hummingbirds, as she tended to her flowers. She will be missed by family members near and far, and by her friends, neighbors, co-workers and church family. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am. Interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annviile. Ruth Pauline CULLEN, 88, of 17 E. Garber St., Mount Union, died at 10:27 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born April 20, 1916, in Perulack, Juniata County, she was the daughter of James and Eva (Cramer) Henry. She was united in marriage to Thomas Kenneth Cullen April 12, 1933. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1972. She is survived by three sons: Donald D. "Sonny" Cullen, and his wife, Martha. of Lewistown; Patrick J. Cullen of State College; and Frederick C. Cullen of Mount Union. There are six grandchildren: Camillus, Chris, Dawn, Kathleen, Sean and Shannon, and a number of great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by four brothers and sisters: Mary Leighty, Clair Henry, Fred Henry and Gladys Brown. Mrs. Cullen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Union. She attended Mount Union High School. She had worked at Saxe's Department Store in Mount Union: as a cook at the American Legion Country Club, Mount Union, R.R. 1; and as a waitress as Jane's Restaurant in Mount Union. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and an avid bingo player. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral home, Mount Union, with the Rev. RYAN, 86, a resident ot Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of Aldsworth Lane, Lucy Furnace, Mount Union, R.R. 1, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Woodland. He had been in failing health. Born July 4, 1918, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Fred A. and Ruth (Heidel) Ryan. He was united in marriage to Ruth (Kirk) Reeder Nov. 28, 1951, in Winchester, Va. She preceded him in death July 1, 1984. He is survived by a son, Jimmy A. Reeder, and his wife, Audrey, of Mapleton, R.R. 1, and three stepdaughters: Evelyn Atherton of Westminster Woods, Huntingdon; Mona Zenoble of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1; and Mildred Reeder of Silverford Heights. Mount Union, R.R. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jimmy A. Reeder Jr. and Beth Ann Greenland; a number of step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Clifford Ryan of Allenport, Mount Union, R.R. 2, survives. He was preceded in death by the following stepchildren: Neffie Heidel, Gladys Ritchey and Frank Reeder Jr.: a grandson, Jeffrey Reeder; and the following brothers and sister: Charles Ryan, Ernest Ryan, Fred Ryan and Emma Seilhamer. Mr. Ryan was a member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Newton-Wayne Lions Club and for many years was active with Orbisoma Boy Scout Troop 237. Mr. Ryan retired in 1984 from PennDOT where he was employed as an equipment operator for a number of years. Prior to his work at PennDOT. he had been employed by North American Refractories in Mount Union. He was an avid bingo player and loved to hunt and fish. Lois "Peggy" Elaine GUMP, 87, a resident of Homewood Retirement Center in Martinsburg since 1996, died at 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Homewood. Born Nov. 7, 1917, in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Lois (Bowen) Gump. She is survived by one brother, Gerald S. Gump, and his wife, Ada, of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by a niece, Margaret (Gump) Burnham, and her husband, Dr. Richard Burnham, of Richmond, Texas; a nephew, Gerald Bowen Gump, and his wife, Kendra, of Plano, Texas; grand-nephews, Tyler Gump and Michael Burnham; grandnieces, Lauren Gump and Sarah Burnham; as well as other relatives and friends. Ms. Gump was a life member of Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, and was formerly an active member of the Dorcas Class at Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ. She was past secretary of the Huntingdon County Historical Society. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1935. Ms. Gump retired from Swigart Associations Inc., Huntingdon, in 1979 as secretary to the president, John W. Swigart Jr. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry and previously attending outings to Camp Kanesatake in the Spruce Creek Valley. (Duvall) NICHOLAS, 63, of R.R. 4, Box 137, Huntingdon, Walker Township, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Her death was unexpected. Born Oct. 11, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Amer M. Duvall and Audrey E. (Bryant) Duvall. She was united in marriage to Lawrence P. Nicholas May 13, 1985, in McConnellstown. She is survived by her husband at home and the following children: Larry Decker of Rebersburg; Lorrie Decker of Hendersonville, Tenn.; Tim Henney and Robert Henney, both of Huntingdon; and George Henney of Knobnoster, Mo.; and the following stepchildren: Richard Henney, Gary Henney and Patty Norris, all of Huntingdon; Danny Henney of Harrisburg; and Lawrence Nicholas, Teresa Prince and Tina Enos, all of Confluence. She is survived by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Anita C. Cassan of Huntingdon, survives. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Henney. Mrs. Nicholas was of the Baptist faith. She attended public schools in Huntingdon, graduating from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1959. In 1979, she graduated with a degree in licensed practical nursing from the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology, formerly known as Centre County Vocational-Technical School. She was a licensed practical nurse at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, and at Twin City Hospital, Twin City, Ohio. Mrs. Nicholas enjoyed cooking, painting and sewing. WILLIAMS, 60, of 812 Terrace Drive, Lewisburg, went home to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at his home. He had been ill for the past year. Born Nov. 8, 1944, in Trenton, S.C., he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Mobley) Williams. He was united in marriage to Edith R. "Edie" Rogers Sept. 8, 1967, in the post chapel at Fort Monmouth, N.J., while both were serving in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife and a son, Brady C. Williams II, and his wife, Melissa, of O'Fallon, Ill. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Gabriel B. Williams and Olivia Lauren Jane Williams. The following sister and brothers survive: Alice Freeman of Ridge Springs, S.C.; Johnnie Williams of Columbus, Ga.; Willie Williams of Ridge Springs, S.C.; Warren Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; and Norman Williams of Clearfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Williams. Mr. Williams graduated from Edgefield County High School in South Carolina with the Class of 1963. He entered the United States Army in October 1963 and was honorably discharged as Sp 5 in November 1970. During his military service, he was with the 82nd and 101st Airborne while in Viet nam and the 4th Armored Division in Germany. He was a paratrooper and recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Vietnam. Mr. Williams jomed the Pennsylvania State Police Jan. 1, 1972, and remained in PSP service for 22 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1994. During his more than two decades of service, he was stationed at the Milton Barracks and retired as a corporal from Troop H in Duncannon, now known as the Newport Barracks. Since his retirement, one of his favorite activities was his regular meeting at the local McDonald's with his buddies. He was a member of the VFW Post in Lewisburg and enjoyed his monthly dinners with fellow PSP retirees and their spouses. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. David W. SHOPE, 85, of Three Springs, R.R. 2, died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at his home. Born Oct. 7, 1919, in Saltillo, he was the son of the late John B. and Pearl (Gress) Shope. He was united in marriage to Doris Jean Fleck who survives at home. Two sons and one daughter survive: David L. Shope of Saltillo, Dale W. "Chipie" Shope of Three Springs and Deanna J. Shope of Three Springs, R.R. 2. There are seven grandchildren: Dana Whitsel, Donna Dunkle, Daphne Myers, Erica Gahagan, Dara Flood, Jamie Shope and Dustin Anderson, and six great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive: Margaret Hershey, Orren Shope, Richard Shope and Audrey Hamman, all of Three Springs; Miriam Nonemaker of Waterfall and Beverly Laidig of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Shope; three sisters. Ruth Croyle Seaman, Evelyn Shope and Carolyn Chamberlain; and one brother, John "Bud" Shope Jr. Mr. Shope was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Three Springs. He was a member of Standing Stone Post 1754 VFW, Huntingdon; Madden-Wennick Post 518 American Legion, Rockhill Furnace; the Three Springs Volunteer Fire Co.; the Three Springs Hunting Camp; United Mine Workers Union and was previously a member of the Three Springs Borough Council and Three Springs Cemetery Association. Mr. Shope was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. For 20 years, was a coal miner for the George Miller Coal Co., Joller, and later at the Kenneth Crotsley Coal Co. He loved gardening, hunting, Southern Huntingdon County High School sports and family gatherings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at the Martin R. Franklin "Frankie" STEELE, 90, of Mifflin Street, Saxton, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus. Born June 21, 1914. in Saxton, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Hulda (Mountain) Steele. He was united in marriage to Susan M. Carberry June 1, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley. His wife survives along with two sons, Jeffrey A. Steele of Saxton and Stephen E. Steele, and his wife, Jan (Heath) of McConnellsburg. There are two grandchildren, Dr. Jack Steele of McConnellsburg and Julie Steele of Mechanicsburg. A sister-in-law, Rosie Steele of Saxton, survives. Two brothers, Robert Steele and Ray Steele, preceded him in death. Mr Steele was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Saxton. He was an active member of the Omega Club and Bowling League and was instrumental in organizing the Saxton Little League and Teenage Baseball. Mr. Steele was a 1933 graduate of Saxton High School. Charles Davis Jr. officiating. Interment will be made in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton. Bruce A. SECREST, 80, of R.R. 1, Box 912, Mount Union, died at 5:30 am. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his home. Born Sept. 8, 1924. in Wayne Township, Miffim County, he was the son of the late Benjamin A. and Mary (Dell) Secrest. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Brandt May 15, 1944, in Hagerstown, Md. He is survived by his wife at home and by three children: Karen Ann Mantta, and her husband, Larry, of Norfolk. Va.; Robert Bruce Secrest, and his wife, Betty, of St. Thomas; and Janice Rittenhouse, and her husband, Dwight, of Newton Hamilton. There are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three sisters survive: Sarah Rummel of Mount Union, R.R. 1, Blanche Jenkins of Quincy and Beulah Drake of Mount Union. He was preceded in death by a grandson and tour brothers and sisters: Esther Albright, George Secrest, Ella Welch and Benjamin Secrest. Mr. Secrest was a member ot the First United Methodist Church in Mount Union where he had been a member of the Herman Smith Sunday School Class. He had also been a member of the Mapleton American Legion Post. He attended Mount Union schools. Mr. Secrest was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in the European Theatre of Operations, specifically Germany, during World War II. After 30 years of service, he retired from the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Co. Keystone Works in Mapleton. He had also worked for George Radle in Mount Union for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and restoring tractors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Jeff Canankamp officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. Dorothy E. WALTERS, 72, of 120 S. Division St., Mount Union, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born May 24, 1932, at Lucy Furnace, Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Stella Lucille "Billie" (Arnold) Sipes. She was first married to Mervin Carson Sr. who preceded her in death June 15, 1987. Her second marriage was to John Walters who preceded her in death July 28, 1993. The following children survive: Deborah A. Forshey, and her husband, Anthony, of Mount Union, R.R. 2: Janet Smith of Newton Hamilton; Mervin J. Carson Jr. of Mill Creek: Mary Hanes, and her husband, Steven, of Licking Creek; and Susan Walters of Cedar Crest. There are 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Ramona Price of Mount Union, and a brother, Kenny Sipes Sr. of Newton Hamilton, survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Morrow, one granddaughter and the following brother and sisters: Robert Sipes, Roxy Price and Betty Woods. Mrs. Walters was a member of Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church. She had worked in the foster grandparent program at Huntingdon County Head Start and also as a delivery person for The Daily News for many years. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren's sports activities and enjoyed attending their games. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral home in Mount Union with Pastor Jeff Winstead officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery. Bernadine J. WAITE, 79, of Jenner's Pond, West Grove, and formerly of Sherwood Park, Ill., and Wilmington, Del., passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, surrounded by her family, finally free of the discomfort she had endured over the past several years. Born June 10, 1925, in Orbisonia, she was the daughter of the late C.J. and Mary B. Holden. She was united in marriage to Blaine L. Waite, her high school sweetheart, after he returned from serving three years in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. Like his wife, Mr. Waite, who preceded her in death in 1985, was a graduate of Juniata College. She is survived by a son, Dr. Gary L. Waite, and his wife, Lisa, of Kemblesville, and a daughter, Connie L. Klinge, and her husband, Jon, of Daytona Beach, Fla. Three are three grandchildren, Kelsey and Brenna Waite of Kemblesville and Meggan Klepser of Daytona Beach, Fla., and two greatgrandchildren, Jenna and Jalen Klepser of Daytona Beach, Fla. Mrs. Waite graduated valedictorian of Orbisonia High School's Class of 1943. She graduated from Juniata College, where she had been a candidate for May Queen. She began her teaching career at Saxton-Liberty High School, where she also coached the girls' basketball team. After her marriage, she and her husband resided in Orbisonia for a few years after the birth of their son, Gary, in September 1949. The family then moved to Wilmington, Del., where Mr. Waite had taken a job with the DuPont Co. Mrs. Waite took a sabbatical from teaching for several years and welcomed daughter Connie in 1953. She resumed her career at Colwyck EIementary School in New Castle and in 1960, moved to Lora Little Elementary School in Sherwood Park, Ill. It was the beginning of her many years at the Stanton/Red Clay School District, which took her to Linden Hill Elementary School, and ultimately to Heritage Elementary School from which she retired. She was a gentle and compassionate teacher. Her loving ways endeared her to her students, many of whom, in later years, would state she had been their "favorite teacher." Mrs. Waite's family was her life. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were whom she lived for. Family time spent anywhere was her greatest joy, and she especially enjoyed the gatherings at her Ocean City, Md., condo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, Wilmington, Del. Interment will be made in All Saints Cemetery.
