We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Charlotte Faye ROHLING, 83, of Staten Island, N.Y., died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at home, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born Aug. 2, 1922, in Williamsburg, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late John and Alma (Mock) Hamilton. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" Rohling, in 1944. Mr. Rohling preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Rolling is survived by four children; Bonnie Olsen, Charlotte Schaffer and John Rohling, all of Staten Island. N.Y.; and Jean Gundry, Macungie; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Louise Honstine, Huntingdon, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Cooper and Janet Kelly. Mrs. Rohling attended church at the Gateway Cathedral. State Island. N.Y. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 220, Huntingdon; and the North Shore chapter of AARP, Staten Island, N.Y. Mrs. Rohling was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. She worked on the assembly line at the Pennsylvania Light Bulb Co. during World War II. She also worked at Fort Wadsworth’s Post Exchange and then in the kitchen of the Prall Intermediate School, West Brighton, N.Y., for 10 years until her retirement at age 53. She enjoyed volunteering and was an avid Penn State football fan and enjoyed traveling with family members. She frequently took road trips up and down the east coast with her sister, Louise, especially to Georgia and Tennessee. Mrs. Rohling especially enjoyed devoting time and attention to caring for her family. Funeral services will be held in Staten Island, N.Y., with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Mercaldo officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Martinsburg. Helen (Trofanowsky) BLACK, 79, of Ann Arbor, Mich., died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, Michigan. Born June 27, 1926, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Metro and Tatyania (Kostoluick) Trofanowsky. She was united in marriage to George Black, in 1948. Mr. Black survives along with four children and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Long-Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, with Father Bernard White officiating. Interment will be made in the Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery, Hopewell. Dorothy A. (Freeman) ROSS, 81, of Broad Top City, went to be with the Lord at 11:36 am. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at her home, Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Greensboro, NC., she was a daughter of the late Luther and Mary Annie (Tilley) Freeman. She was united in marriage to Carl "Carlo" Ross Sept. 18, 1943, in Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Ross preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2004. Mrs. Ross is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Keefer and husband, Donald F., Broad Top City; a granddaughter, Crystal D. (Metz) Mohlman and husband, Brian, McConnellsburg; and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Gabrielle Mohlman. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jenkins, Pleasant Garden, NC.; and Betty Elain Woods, Greensboro, NC. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister; Paul, Wilbert and Kenneth Freeman and Virginia Walker, all formerly of Greensboro, NC. Mrs. Ross was a member of the Robertsdale Church of God, Robertsdale. She and her husband retired after 14 years of owning and operating Ross’s Mountain View Hotel, now the Eagles Nest Inn, Broad Top City. Mrs. Ross enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking and baking and being with her family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Robertsdale Church of God, with Pastor Donald Simmons officiating. Interment will be made in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Lorma L. "Hun" TAYLOR, 67, of 1840 Big Greenbriar Road, McVeytown, died at 3:11 am. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Lewistown Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past several years. Born Aug. 30, 1938, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Melvin "Moldy" Paul and Madeline (Himes) Rhodes. She was united in marriage to William H. Taylor, Dec. 8, 1956, in Three Springs. Mr. Taylor survives at home. Mrs. Taylor is also survived by three children, William H. Taylor Jr. and wife, Pamela, McVeytown; Loretta M. Mitchell and husband, Richard, and Brenda S. Parks and husband, Michael, all of Three Springs; twin grandsons, Thomas and Russell Taylor; and a granddaughter, Nicole Parks. She is also survived by five brothers and two sisters; Paul Rhodes and wife, Barb, Manheim: James Rhodes, Lititz; Donald Rhodes and wife, Eva, Mount Union; Lewis Rhodes and wife, Lana, Calvin; Alvin Rhodes and Helen Sunderland and husband, Eugene, all of McVeytown; and Betty Bilger and husband, Raymond, Mill Creek. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Rhodes. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Church of Christ, Atascadero, Calif She attended the Fairview School. Employed as a cook for many years, Mrs. Taylor worked at Top’s Diner, and Miller’s Diner, Mill Creek; and Perkins, Huntingdon. She enjoyed traveling and loved picking wild flowers with her grandchildren. No services or visitation will be held. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Henry W. ALBRIGHT Jr., 75, of 5245 Vineyard Lane, Walker Township, Huntingdon, died at 9 am. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at his residence. Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Friedens, he was a son of the late Henry W. and May Belle (Loughrey) Albright. Mr. Albnght is survived by a brother, Eugene U. Albright and wife, Sandra (Bodziak), Walker Township, Huntingdon; and a half-sister, Evelyn Seek and husband, Charles, Ocean City, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Reed, and eight half-brothers and half-sisters. Mr. Albright was of the Lutheran denomination. He was served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a petty officer, second class. Mr. Albright was a member of the Frank P Hommon American Legion Post No. 24 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, both of Huntingdon. He was a 1949 graduate of Somerset Township High School and attended Georgetown University. With 40 years of government service, Mr. Albright retired from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Goddard Space Flight Center, Green Belt, Md., where he was employed as a rocket technician. Mr. Albright enjoyed hunting deer at the family camp. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Father David J. Arseneault officiating. Mildred Anna LINDSAY, 95, a resident of the Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at the Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Hartslog Valley, Porter Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of the late Byron Ray Brenneman and Rachel Anna (Strait) Brenneman. She was married to William Edgar Lindsay Sr., April 20, 1935, in Franklin. He preceded her in death March 14, 2002. She was a graduate of the Thompson Business College of York, and Juniata College in Huntingdon. Mrs. Lindsay was qualified to teach both elementary and secondary subjects. As a teacher, she was a reading specialist. During the Depression days, Mrs. Lindsay worked for the J.C. Blair Company in the billing department for nine years. In 1957, she joined the staff of the William Smith Elementary School in Huntingdon and taught there for 20 years, until her retirement. She was a former member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. She was a life member of the Alpha Iota Sorority, a member of the American Association of University Women, a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and a life member of the Huntingdon County Historical Society. Mrs. Lindsay enjoyed painting in oils and watercolor, and held classes in her home for many years. She also enjoyed figure skating and had a special fondness for flowers. Surviving are a son, William Edgar Lindsay Jr., U.S. Air Force Colonel, Retired, of Ogden, Utah; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Brenneman. Margaret P. DIVEN, 84, of RD 2, McVeytown, died Friday, March 3, 2006, in Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Margaret was the daughter of the late Tom and Nannie Gertrude (Renninger) Pollock. She was married to Blair Robert Diven. Surviving are children, Robert E. Diven, James Diven and wife Diane, all of Newton Hamilton, Donald C. Diven, Clair Diven and wife Sharon, Terry Diven and wife Susie, Deborah Price and husband Galen, all of McVeytown, Kenneth B. Diven and wife Judith, of Mill Creek; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Brotemarkle and husband Roy and a brother, Kenneth Pollock and wife Elsie, all of Newton Hamilton. Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy G. Shaffer; one grandson and three great-grandsons. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Robert D. Grant PITTMAN, 88, of 3241 Sandy Run Road, Hopewell, died at 11:58 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. Born July 5, 1917, in Clearville, he was a son of the late Jacob and Teresa (Clark) Pittman. He was united in marriage to the former Alieen Smith Dec. 15, 1952, in McConnellsburg. Mrs. Pittman survives at home. Mr. Pittman is also survived by three sons and two daughters; Dennis Pittman, Robert Pittman, Michael Pittman and Jamie Rhoat, all of Hopewell; Shirley Morningstar of Saxton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister and a brother, Pearl Heister, Yellow Creek; and Russell Pittman, Hopewell. He was preceded in death by a son, Jacob Pittman, and siblings, Sylvester Pittman, Molly Heister, Charlie Pittman and Junie Fink. Mr. Pittman was affiliated with the Shermans Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Hopewell. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Pittman was a member of the Hopewell Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Six Mile Run American Legion. He worked in the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. quarry, Ashcom, and previously at Dodson’s Sawmill, Hopewell. Mr. Pittman enjoyed hunting, fishing and searching for ginseng and mushrooms. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Shermans Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Hopewell, with Pastors Rick and Sharon Riley officiating. Interment will be made in the Shermans Valley Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery, Hopewell. Helen Catherine BAKER, 90, of Jameson Care Center, New Castle, and formerly of Porter Township, Southside, Alexandria, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the center. Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Nora (Kyper) Hall. She was twice married. Her first union was to Joseph Kenneth Houck in 1933. Mr. Houck preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1963. She later married H. Roland Baker, Aug. 15, 1969. Mr. Baker preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1977. Mrs. Baker is survived by a son and a daughter, Joseph K. "Joe" Houck and wife, Linda, Enon Valley and Patsy J. Norris and husband, Darrell, New Florence; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Martha Anderson and husband, William, Huntingdon. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Standing Stone and Juniata Valley senior citizens. Mrs. Baker was a 1933 graduate of Alexandria High School. She worked for a number of years for the J.C. Blair Co. and Mead Corporation. She also worked as a receptionist at the Holiday Inn Jr., predecessor to Days Inn, for a number of years during the 1960s. Mrs. Baker had been a resident ot the Jameson Care Center since 2003. Prior to that, she had been a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County. She enjoyed reading, gardening and shopping. Funeral services will he held at 11 am. Wednesday, March 8, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home - Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with Pastor Randy Willis officiating. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Richard PALMER, 88. of Aurora, NC., and formerly of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Britthaven of Pamlico, Alliance, NC. Born Dec. 27, 1917, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Willard and Nellie (Clark) Palmer. He was united in marriage to the former Fay Allison, who survives. Mr. Palmer is survived by a stepdaughter, Rose Mary Caulk and husband, John Trosky, Rutherford, N.J. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including James Hunt, Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother; Helen Hunt, Jean Deck and James Clark Palmer. Mr. Palmer was a veteran of the United States 9th Army Air Force 387 Bomb Group, 556 squadron. He flew 55 missions in EPO. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3374, Greenville; F&AM Lodge No. 521, Manteo, NC.; and the Rose Chapter 32nd Degree, Pittsburgh. He was also a former Shriner in New Bern, N.C. and belonged to the Gery Union ATU No. 1, Washington, D.C. Graveside services will be held at 11 am. Wednesday, March 8, in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Marklesburg, with the Rev. LeVain Fouse officiating. Joshua Lee SNYDER, 16, of Three Springs, HCR 73, died at 7:36 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained shortly before his death in an auto accident along Route 655 south of Mapleton. Born Feb. 2, 1990, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Steven and Carolyn (Braum) Snyder of Three Springs, HCR 73. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snyder is survived by two brothers and a sister, Michael Pook, Pullman, Wash.; Paul Pook Jr., Three Springs, HCR 73; and Linda Pook, Athens, Ohio. He is also survived by a nephew, Paul Pook III, who resides in the Snyder home; maternal grandparents, Robert and Martha Braum, Pittsburgh; and paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Snyder, Three Springs, HCR 73. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Three Springs Assembly of God Church. He was a student in the sophomore class at Southern Huntingdon County High School. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Clifford HOOVER, 90, of Chapel Pointe, 770 South Hanover Street, Carlisle, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at his residence. Born Oct. 22, 1915, in Duncansville, Blair County, he was a son of the late Alvin and Elda (Hileman) Hoover. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Trimble Sept. 4, 1937, in Birmingham, by the Rev. Horace Hoover. Mrs. Hoover survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a brother, Lester Hoover, Temporance, Mich. Mr. Hoover was a member of the Bald Eagle Christian Missionary Church. He served in the United Slates Navy for two and one-half years as an aviation metalsmjth. He was a member of the Blam\ine Sportsman Club, the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Mr. Hoover was a 1933 graduate of Petersburg Vocational High School. He retired as manager of Camp Kanesatake, Spruce Creek, where he served as manager from 1964-1978. He also worked as a self-employed builder. Mr. Hoover was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, with the Rev. Sidney Harris officiating. Interment will be made in the Seven Stars Cemetery. Thomas W. SKIPPER, 67, of Mapleton, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 7, 1938, in Mount Union, he was a son of Mildred (Woods) Skipper of Mount Union and the late Samuel Skipper. He is also survived by his natural mother, Virginia Feezer of Hill Valley. He was united in marriage to the former Annis (Kingston) Mitchell Nov. 27, 1991, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Skipper survives at home. Mr. Skipper is also survived by five children; Chris Runk and husband, Bob, Cassville; Thomas W. Skipper Jr. and wife, Denise, Broad Top; Timothy Skipper, Mount Union; Brian Skipper, Mill Creek; Tammy Danfelt and husband, Michael, Tipton; a stepdaughter, Beth Burchner, Bellwood; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister, Samuel Skipper and Virginia Skipper, both of Mount Union; and a half brother and half sister, John Feezer of Philadelphia and Anna Marie Bracket of Hill Valley. Mr. Skipper was a member of the Mount Union Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was a 1956 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union. Mr. Skipper retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, with 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and woodworking. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family Wednesday, March 8, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Phil Harris officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery, Garden of Calvary. Fred Carl FISHER, 86, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, died at 5:10 am. Monday, March 6, 2006, at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 26, 1919, on his family’s farm in Hesston, he was a son of the late Blair L. and Ora B. (Garner) Fisher. Mr. Fisher is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Emory G. Fisher and wife, Martha, Mill Creek; Edward C. Fisher and wife, Naomi, and Ann M. Harris and husband, Ralph "Ike," all of Penn Township, Hesston; and Henry J. Fisher and Esther F. Dunton, both of Baltimore, Md. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister; Clyde, William, Glen and Alice Fisher. Mr. Fisher attended Jacobs Church, Piney Ridge, during his time in Huntingdon. He enlisted in the United States Army June 23, 1944, and served until his honorable discharge June 17, 1946, at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, as a private first class serving in the. Ardennes RhineLand and Central European campaigns. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Occupation Medal for Germany, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754 and the Frank P. Hornmon American Legion Post No. 24, both of Huntingdon. He was educated at the Speck School, a small one-room school house on Piney Ridge, Penn Township. Following his military service, Mr. Fisher moved to Maryland, where he worked for a long number of years as a heavy equipment operator on highway construction. Upon retiring in 1990, he returned to Huntingdon, where he resided until his move to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. March 15, 1999. Mr. Fisher enjoyed hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with the Rev. H. Lloy Blattenberger officiating. Interment will be made in the White Church Cemetery, Penn Township. Nellie P. (Koplets) GRESKO, 81, of 1522 Six Mile Run Road, Six Mile Run, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born July 10, 1924, in Finleyville, she was a daughter of the sate Nicholas Lee and Nellie (Menowski) Koplets. She was united in marriage to Stanley J. Gresko Sr. Oct. 12, 1947. Mr. Gresko preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1970. Mrs. Gresko is survived by two sons and a daughter, Stanley Gresko, Huntingdon; and Greg Gresko and Cathy Rankin, both of Six Mile Run. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gresko. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers; Annie Dick, Katie Whited, Mary Divelbliss, Yolanda College, Frank Koplets and Mike Koplets. Mrs. Gresko was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Washington Street Extension, Dudley. She was also a member of the Hopewell VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Six Mile Run American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Hopewell Senior Citizens. Mrs. Gresko was a graduate of the Broad Top Township High School. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Dudley, with Father Bernard White officiating. Committal will be made in the Ave Marie Cemetery, Dudley. Virginia R. GLUNT, 68, of Fayetteville, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at Chamhersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born Feb. 23, 1938, in McConnellsburg, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Bessie (Naugle) Doyle. She was united in marriage to Loyd L. Glunt Dec. 31, 1960, in Shade Gap. Mr. Glunt survives at home. Mrs. Glunt is also survived by two sons, Roger Glunt and Rodney Glunt and wife, Karyn, all of Chambersburg; and three grandsons, Benjamin, Josiah and Elijah Glunt. The Glunt family also provided childcare for many years to Tonya Sipes of Shippensburg and Stacey Sipes of Fayetteville. She is also survived by a brother and sister, Walter Doyle, McConnellsburg; and Mabel, Florida. She was preceded in death by seven brothers. Mrs. Glunt attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Chambersburg. She was employed as a certified nurses assistant. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the Shade Gap Bible Church, U.S. Route 22, Shade Gap, with the Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap. R.R. Jean Beulah (McElwee) HICKS, 74, of Mount Union, died Monday, March 6, 2006, from injuries sustained in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Huntingdon. Born March 9, 1931, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Blair S. and Beulah N. (Baughman) McElwee. She was united in marriage to George L. Hicks Oct. 10, 1954, in the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. Mr. Hicks preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1974. Mrs. Hicks is survived by two daughters; Jeanne Luckenbach and husband, Lang, York; and Cathy Schrey and husband, Dave, Delmar, Md. Also surviving are four grandchildren, David and Daniel Schrey and Langley and Christa Luckenbach. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Elizabeth "Libby" Wiser, who also died of injuries in the same accident; Isabel Archey and Herbert B. McElwee. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Union and attended the Allenport Methodist Church. She was an active member of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) and was a member and past worthy matron of the Eastern Star. She served as a current board member of the Mount Union Alumni Association and co-chaired the Mount Union High School Class of 1949 reunions. Mrs. Hicks also volunteered at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Mount Union Area Medical Center and was a member of Mount Union Community Action Partnership (MU CAP), for which she co-chaired the annual street fair. Mrs. Hicks was a 1949 graduate of Mount Union High School. She retired from Penn Central National Bank, Mount Union, with over 40 years of service. "Libby" WISER, 72, of 30 East Vandevender St., Mount Union, died Monday, March 6, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Huntingdon. Born March 25, 1933, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Blair S. and Beulah N. (Baughman) McElwee. She was united in marriage to Calvin Ralph Wiser Oct. 25, 1959, in the First Methodist Church, Mount Union. Mr. Wiser survives at home. Mrs. Wiser is also survived by two children, Martin R. Wiser, Mount Union and Sharon E. Bowman and husband, Kevin, Three Springs; and two grandchildren, Keith and Sierra Bowman. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Jean Hicks, who also died of injuries in the same accident; Isabel Archey and Herbert B. McElwee. Mrs. Wiser was an active member ot the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union, where she had been in charge of the church nursery for many years. She was a member of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) and Mount Union Community Action Partnership (MUCAP). Mrs. Wiser retired from L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing plant, Mount Union, and most recently served as a caregiver for several area families. She enjoyed crocheting and had made and given away many afghans to friends and families over the years. She also loved gardening. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Jack C. BUCKLE, 81, of Williamsport, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at his home. Born Dec. 19, 1924, in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late Charles H. and Linnie (Miller) Buckle. He was united in marriage to Janet B. Buckle for 48 years. Mrs. Buckle survives at home. Mr Buckle is also survived by two sons, Bruce Buckle and wile, Betty and Peter Buckle and wife, Daryl; four grandchildren, Gretchen, Melissa, Nick and Isaac; and one great-grandchild, Jackson. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth DiPaolo, Accident, Md. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Wayne, Donald, Marian and Jane. Mr. Buckle was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Medical Corps in the South Pacific. He served as a volunteer with the Lycoming County Historical Society and on the hoard of directors of the Lycoming County Chapter of rhe American Red Cross. He was also a member of the board of directors of Saint Anthony’s Center, where he worked as a volunteer. Mr. Buckle was an active member of the Juniata College Alumni Association, where he served as his class fund agent and two terms on the alumni council. In 1990, he was recognized by the Williamsport Rotary Club for outstanding community service by a non-Rotarian. After his discharge from the military, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from Juniata College and a master of science degree in higher education from Syracuse University. Mr. Buckle served as dean of students at Lycoming College for 30 years. Prior to his employment at Lycoming, he was a supervisor of men’s residence halls at Southern Illinois University, director of men’s counseling and residence life at Syracuse University and assistant director of admissions at Juniata College. At Lycoming College, Mr. Buckle established the dean of students award, later renamed in his honor, the Jack C. Buckle Award, for outstanding contributions to campus life by a junior. At Juniata College, he established and supported the Margaret McCrimmon Scholarship and the Esther Doyle Award in Theatre, in honor of longtime faculty members. Mr. Buckle’s life and memory will be privately celebrated by his family. Maxine R. SIPE, 79, a resident of Porter Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 1, for 52 years and most recently a resident of The Homestead at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, went to be with her Lord at 7:10 am. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Aug. 8, 1926, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel (Parks) Rudy. She was united in marriage to Clifton Sipe Sept. 14, 1946, in the 15th Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. R.A. Zimmerman. Mr. Sipe preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1998. Mrs. Sipe is survived by a daughter and son, Patricia (Sipe) Mark and husband, Terry; and John Sipe, all of Huntingdon, R.R. 1. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Shana Mark-Hood and husband, Andrew, New Holland; Stephanie (Sipe) Flaherty and husband, Dan, Bridgewater, Mass.; and Alisha (Mark) Bair and husband, Nathan, Huntingdon; and three great-grandchildren. She attended Huntingdon public schools and was a 1944 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She retired in 1988 from the Soil Conservation Service, Huntingdon, after 18 years of service. Beatrice Marie GOODHART, 81, of Centre Crest, formerly of rural Centre Hall, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College. She was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Allensville, a daughter of the late David William and Edna Mae Dickson Snyder. On July 7, 1943, she married Robert "Goodie" J. Goodhart who preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1994. Mrs. Goodhart graduated from Burnham High School in 1941. She was employed in the housing division of Penn State University for eighteen years, retiring in 1988. Marie was a member of the Port Matilda Baptist Church and attended McAlevy's Fort Presbyterian Church. She especially enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting and sketching, and had been deeply involved in scheduled activities at Centre Crest, often planning, leading and assisting with those activities. She is survived by two daughters, Doris A. Confer and her husband Carl, of rural Huntingdon, and Donna M. Decker and her husband Bill of rural Centre Hall; one son Robert R. Goodhart and his wife Beatrice of Belleville; one sister, M. Maxine Strohecker of Lewistown; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Marie was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Snyder. Elmira Belle SECHRIST, 93, formerly of Mount Union, R.R. 1, died Tuesday evening, March 7, 2006, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. She had been in failing health. Born Sept. 14, 1912, in Dry Run, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Miller) McCartney. She was united in marriage to Isaac S. Sechrist, March 26, 1932, in Mapleton by the Rev. Curtis France. Mr. Sechrist preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1973. Mrs. Sechrist is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hampton and husband, DeWayne, Mount Union, R.R. 1; and two grandchildren, Steven Dewayne Hampton, Allenport; and Travis Wayne Hampton, Mill Creek. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Joseph, Ira, George, Dean and Mundis McCartney, who died in infancy; and Margaret Querry, Helen Querry, Martha Harklerode, Blanche Boston and Mary Coleman. Mrs. Sechrist attended the Mount Nebo Church, where she enjoyed belonging to the Secret Sisters. Primarily a homemaker, she worked several years at the Greif Bros. Manufacturing Plant, Mount Union, in the buttonhole department. She also worked at the Stone Inn Restaurant, Shirleysburg. R.R. Mrs. Sechrist will be remembered as one who loved to bake and cook, often giving her baked goods to family and friends. She helped to rear a niece and nephew in her home for several years. She loved her family and spent many hours playing board games with her grandsons and their friends. In her later years, she spent most of her time watching television, especially "The Lawrence Welk Show," ice skating competitions and game shows. George Robert "Bob" McCOOL, 62, of 10338 Kyper Road, Huntingdon, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Jan. 27, 1944, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Freda Marie (Warren) McCool of Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, and the late George Ellwood McCool. He was united in marriage to the former Joan M. "Pat" Davis May 3, 1965. Mrs. McCool survives at home. In addition to his mother and wife, Mr. McCool is survived by three children, Roy Mitchell McCool and Paul Elwood McCool, both of Huntingdon; and Ruth Elizabeth (McCool) Edwards, Hesston. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Calin Mitchell McCool, Jesse Robert McCool, Madison Rose McCool, Jacob William Edwards and Brianna Mae Edwards. Mr. McCool was a member of the Donation United Methodist Church since March 29, 1959. He was a member of the Oneida Township Volunteer Fire Department since 1979, serving as fire chief for 12 years from 1983-1995 and currently elected to and serving as assistant chief. He was also a member of the Standing Stone Rod and Gun Club, the Dog Box Hunting Camp and the Boy Scouts of America from early childhood until 1961. Mr. McCool was a 1961 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School and a 1963 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College. He retired in 2002 as a production engineer at Case-New Holland, Belleville, with 31 years of service. Mr. McCool enjoyed working in his woodshop and making special gifts for his grandchildren. Born May 28, 1918, in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late Norman and Jessie (Henry) McClain. He was first united in marriage to Marie Yarger, who preceded him in death. His second union was to Miriam Huston Nov. 7, 1953, in Altoona. Mrs. McClain survives at home. Dr. McClain is also survived by four children, Dawn Ellen Maxwell and husband, Scott, Indiatlantic, Fla.; Lynne Starr and husband, Michael, Altoona; Andrea Schneck and husband, Lt. Col. Frank Schneck, Ret.. Prince George, Va.; and R. Michael McClain and wife, Deborah, Hollidaysburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister Dr. McClain was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a captain in the United States Army Dental Corps, Fifth Replacement Depot, in the Philippines. Dr. McClain was a member of the American Dental Society and past president of the Blair County Dental Society. He had served on the board of directors of the Tyrone YMCA, was a member and past president of the Tyrone Rotary Club, from which he received a 50-year membership pin in 2002. Dr McClain was also a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 212, the Howard Gardner American Legion Post No. 281 and Free and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 494. He had served as a Cub Scout leader of Pack 101 and had been a member of the Selective Service board in Tyrone for a number of years. Dr. McClain was a 1937 graduate of Huntingdon High School and a graduate of Juniata College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, where he received his D.D.S. degree. He operated his own dental practice in Tyrone for a number of years, retiring May 5, 1990. Elizabeth (Taylor) HOYER, 99, a resident of Huntingdon for the past 63 years, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born Nov. 2, 1906, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Harry I. and Mary Gertrude (McDermit) Taylor. She was united in marriage to John Jacob Hoyer Aug. 31, 1927, at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona. Mr. Hoyer preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1971. Mrs. Hoyer is survived by a son and a daughter, John J. Hoyer Jr. and wife, Shirley, Camp Hill; and Janice (Hoyer) Fodor and husband, Michael, Wheaton, Ill. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Dr. Francis I. Taylor, Mary R. Stephen BUZMINSKY, 77, of 40 Reese Ave., Colver, Cambria County, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital campus. Born July 31, 1928, in Homer City, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mr. Andrew Buzminsky. He was united in marriage to the former Susan Polenik, who survives at home. Mr. Buzminsky is also survived by a son, David Buzminsky and wife, Kathy (Suba), Hesston; a daughter-in-law, Dolores (McDivitt) Buzminsky, Huntingdon; and a granddaughter, Madeline Suba, Hesston. He is also survived by four siblings, Michael, Colver; Mary and Katherine, Ohio; and Lodga, Oregon. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon; and a son and daughter, Dennis and Suzie. Mr. Buzminsky was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Colver, where he served as an usher and belonged to the Holy Name Society. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a stepmother, Erma Gearhart, McVeytown; two sons, Kalen J. Gearhart and Thad L. Gearhart, both at home; a daughter, Ronele G. Gearhart, at home; eight siblings, Ricky L. Gearhart, McVeytown, Deborah A. Sunderland and husband Earl, Alexandria, Calvin L. Born Nov. 8, 1964, in Huntingdon, he is the son of Clair Miller and the late Bertha Faye (Black) Miller. He is survived by the following children; Starla K. Reesman and husband, Charles, Lewistown; Lori A. Kearns and husband, Paul, Virginia; Troy J. Park and wife, Kimberly, West Virginia; Travis S. Park, Huntingdon; and Julie Collabine, Lewistown; and 16 grandchildren. "Jake" RINARD, 61, of Broad Top City, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born July 5, 1944, in Broad Top City, he was the son of the late Frank and Beryl (Graffious) Rinard. Mr. Rinard is survived by his companion, Alice Swope, of Robertsdale. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Conley, and her husband, Donald, of Honey Brook, and two nephews, Mark Conley and Mike Conley, both of Honey Brook. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Rinard was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Watson and Black Post No. 126, Broad Top City. He was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, Class of 1964, Mr. Rinard was a maintenance mechanic for JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, for 16 years. During his life, he enjoyed hunting and collecting knives, which he had an extensive collction. He also loved going to auctions. He was united in marriage to the former Alma Grace Coffman Oct. 24, 1958, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Zanylo survives at home. Mr. Zanylo is also survived by two sons, James R. "Dick" Fagan and his wife, Jean, Marysville; and Kenneth L. Fagan, Homestead, Fla.; four grandchildren; Christopher Fagan and his wife, Cathy; Carolyn Clark; Jennifer Archer and her husband, Jamie; and Jessica Fagan; and two great-grandchildren, Haeli Fagan and Jaylin Archer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John Zanylo, and two sisters, Anna Hrabowski and Mary Sechrist. Mr. Zanylo was of the Protestant faith. He served as a motor machinist mate with the United States Navy from April 1, 1943 to December 21, 1945. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He was a life member of Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754 and the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, both of Huntingdon. Mr. Zanylo attended Huntingdon area schools. He was employed as a salesman from 1959 to 1984 with Claster’s, Huntingdon. He was an accomplished carpenter and handyman and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and at his Penn Street home since 1962. ALEXANDER, 91, of Box 351, Mount Union, R.R. 2, went to be with the Lord at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been a resident since March 24, 2004. Born May 9, 1914, in Port Royal, Juniata County, she was a one of 12 children of the late Harvey and Sylvia (Thatcher) Hurrell. She was united in marriage to John A. "Ike" Alexander, during a double wedding with Pauline and Wilson Rhone June 23, 1934, in Hagerstown, Md., by the Rev. F.H. Snavely. Mr. Alexander preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1969. Mrs. Alexander is survived by two children, Janet Hann of Allenport; and John Alexander and wife, Connie, Boiling Springs; a son-in-law, Frank Carter, Springfield, Va.; and the following grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Kathy Harven and husband, Mike, Lumberton, N.J., and their children, Chad and Brock Harven; David Hann of Mount Union and his three children, David Hann Jr., Alexis Hann and Benton Hancock; Scott Hann and his three children, Zerik and Mikayla Hann of Chambersburg and Lindsey Weaver of Lewistown; John Alexander and wife, Paula, Colorado Springs, Colo., and their two children, Zachary and Cassidy Alexander; Lisa Alexander of Mount Union and her son, Derick King; and Emily Lemasters and her husband, Pete, of Lancaster and their three children, Madeline, Avery and Ward Lemasters; and Craig, Brenda and Lynda Carter of Springfield, Va. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Wolfe, Kistler; and Hazel Worthy, Mount Union. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Carter, May 6, 2002; a granddaughter, Carol Jo Hann, April 23, 1969; a grandson, Steven Hann, Dec. 30, 1975; a son-in-law, Herb Hann, June 19, 1996; and nine brothers and sisters. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mount Union, where she enjoyed serving as a Sunday school teacher The only member of her family to complete high school, she was a 1932 graduate of Mount Union High School. She worked at the L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing plant, Mount Union, for several years in the pressing department. Mrs. Alexander enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for her fondness of working with children and as a Sunday school teacher at her church. Willliam E. YOCUM, Sr., age 82, of Fairless Hills, Pa., died on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol. Born in Huntingdon, Pa., Bill has been a Fairless Hills resident since 1952. He was a charter member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills. Bill was employed with the Pennsbury School District as an electrical technician. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as an Armed Guard. He was a former President of the Lions Club of Falls Twp. and a member of the Penn-Morris Masonic Lodge # 778 F.&A.M. Bill was the husband of the late Gladys Yocum and father of the late Penny Yocum. He was the beloved husband of 24 years of Carol D. (Confer) Yocum and the loving father of William E. Yocum, Jr., and his wife Sybil of Charleston, S.C.; Eugene Yocum and his wife Carolyn of Ewing, N.J.; and Richard A. Yocum and his wife Beth of Johnstown, Pa. He will also be sadly missed by his three grandchildren, Rachael Ellen, Anne, and Gus; and many nieces and nephews. Born May 31, 1916, in Broad Top Township, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Palermo) Giornesto. He was united in marriage to the former Genevieve Johnson July 12, 1953, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Giornesto survives at home. Mr. Giornesto is also survived by two daughters, Marie D. Shaeffer, Chambersburg; and Kim Burket and husband, Glenn Burket II, Bedford; four grandchildren. Kristian Skvarka, Nicole Ricker, Glenn Burket III and Lauren Burket; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Josephine Kelly and husband, William, Saxton; Mary Neamtz and husband, John, Mechanicsburg; Doree Kifer, California; and Guy Giornesto, Saxton. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Kenneth Giornesto, Charles Giornesto Jr. and Connie Thompson. Mr. Giornesto was of the Catholic faith. A United States Army master sergeant, he served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, having received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Giornesto was a life member of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Co. and a member and past president of the Robertsdale Lions Club. Along with his wife, he owned Giornesto Insurance Agency, Saxton. Prior to that, he worked at Giornesto Motors, also of Saxton. Mr. Giornesto loved traveling, flying, reading and working in his workshop. WEAR, 90, of West Orange, N.J., died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Saint Cloud Health Center, West Orange, N.J. He had been in failing health for several years. Born Jan. 9, 1916, in Yeagertown, Mifffin County, he was a son of the late Wendell P. and Kathryn (Swayers) Wear. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Biddle, in Huntingdon. Mr. Wear is survived by two children, Wendell B. Wear, Kinnelon, N.J.; and Jane McMinn, Somerset, N.J.; two grandchildren, Douglas S. Wear, Basking Ridge, N.J.; and Jeffrey C. Wear, Parsippany, N.J.; and two great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, Pauline Gutshall, Thomas Wear and Robert Wear, all who resided in Huntingdon. Mr. Wear was a member of the Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church, West Orange, N.J., and a former member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Montclair, N.J. Mr. Wear was a 1934 graduate of Huntingdon High School and a 1938 graduate of Penn State University. Dorothy Susan "Sue" SENN, 81, a resident of the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 450 Waupelani Drive, State College, and formerly of Huntingdon, died at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the home. She had been in failing health for several years. Born April 25, 1924, in Hill Valley, Cromwell Township, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Louisa B. (Runk) Whitsel. She was united in marriage to Cooper J. Senn Jr. April 2, 1946. Mr. Senn preceded her in death June 19, 1969. Mrs. Senn is survived by two daughters, Shirley L. Clark and husband, Robert J., Huntingdon; and Cynthia Kern and husband, Paul L., Mount Union; two grandchildren, Jeannie Lashlee and husband, Ethan; and Timothy Clarke, all of Huntingdon; and two great-grandchildren, Leah and Maggie Lashlee, Huntingdon. She is also survived by a sister, Nellie Morgan, Shirleysburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Paul Whitsel, Ned Whitsel and Florence Whitsel, an infant. Mrs. Senn had been affiliated with the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday school. She was a 1941 graduate of Mount Union High School. During World War II, she had been employed in the U.S. Post Office, Washington, D.C. Subsequently, she worked at the Union National and Penn Central banks, both of Mount Union; and most recently at the Genesco plant, Mount Union. A resident of the Hearthside Nursing Center for the past four years, Mrs. Senn loved to cook and complete crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed flower gardening and her children were her life. FETHER, 79, of 4190 U.S. Highway 522 North, Lewistown, currently residing in Beverly Healthcare William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at 11:50 a.m., at the Lewistown Hospital, after a courageous battle against Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons disease. Born Oct. 27, 1926, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Homer and Mary (Soyster) Fether. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Naomi R. (Ritchey Fether. He is also survived by his children, Eric Fether and wife Kathy, of Williamsburg, Laurene Harshbarger and husband Jim, of Johnstown; one sister, Mary Ann Oessenich, Altoona, and six grandchildren, Matthew, Marcus, Shane and Emily Fether, Lance and Jenica Harshbarger. He was a graduate of Altoona High School Class of 1944, graduate of Altoona Bible Institute Class of 1954 and Attended Bethany Seminary Extension School. In early life he worked at Detweiler Dairy Farm, New Enterprise and later at Sealtest Dairies, Altoona. He was called to the ministry in 1955 out of Altoona First Church of the Brethren. He served Roaring Spring Mennonite Church, Ardenheim Church of the Brethren, Ligonier Church of the Brethren, Bradford Church of the Brethren, Bradford, Ohio, Maitland Church of the Brethren, Lewistown, and as interim pastor at Parkview Church of the Brethren, Lewistown. Upon retiring he became Pastor Emeritus from the Maitland Church of the Brethren. While in ministry he served on the Middle Pennsylvania Church of the Brethren District Board and also was recognized from 50 years of ministerial service in 2005. He was an avid guitar player, mandolin and banjo player, having taught stringed instruments for many years in the community. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the Maitland Church of the Brethren, 315 Crossover Drive, Lewistown, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Charles M. Eldredge officiating. Donald Hopple BAER, 84, of 14202 Croghan Pike, Allenport, Mount Union, passed away on March 15, 2006, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Don was born in Mercersburg, and he was the son of the late Charles A. and Emma Jane (Hopple) Baer. He was married to Geraldine Jane (Horne) Baer, on May 9, 1942. His wife survives, along with her two daughters, Jo Ann Adams and husband James R., Palmyra, Chris Lynn Morgan, Saltillo; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter and a step-great-granddaughter. Mr. Baer was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Dawn Wagner. He was also preceded in death by the following four sisters and six brothers; Ruth Hornbaker, Kathleen Henry Cornelius, Nellie Virginia (Peg) Gillam, Mary Lightner Yetter, Harry Dan Baer, Harvey Nelson Baer, Ted Baer, Kenneth "Bud" Baer, Earl "Bill" Bear, and Merle "Bob" Baer. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, during World War II. Don retired from Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union. As members of the Penn Central Racing Association, Donald and his brother, Bob, were known as "the Baer Boys" and were involved in stock car racing for over 15 years. Isabel (Shirley) GODARD, 95, of Cromwell Township, Orbisonia, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006. at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born March 28, 1910, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late William J. Sr. and Mary (Decker) Shirley. She was united in marriage to Edgar S. Godard Sr., Oct. 25, 1946, in the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Dr Hobart D. McKeehan. Mr. Godard preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1957. Mrs. Godard was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Shirley Jr. and Harold D. Shirley; a niece, Claire S. Grose, who was reared by Mrs. Godard and her parents. Mrs. Godard was a member of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon. She was a former member of the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24 and Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754 auxiliaries, both of Huntingdon; as well as the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 995, Clearwater, Fla. Mrs. Godard attended Huntingdon public schools and was a 1927 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She worked as a stenographer for the J.B. Kunz Co. for 10 years and was subsequently employed from 1939-1947 as a legal secretary for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania office of the attorney general, Harrisburg. She retired in 1976 from Pinellas County, Fla., planning department after 10 years of service. Mrs. Godard enjoyed traveling. Naomi Ruth (Love) GLASGOW, 90, of 1924 Spring Lake Drive, Conway, SC, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Kingsdon Nursing Center, Conway SC. She was born Apnl 8 1915 in Garrett the daughter of Jenny Walters. She was twice married, first to Harold Love and then to Carey Glasgow, both of whom preceded her in death. Her daughter, Barbara Love of Conway, S.C., survives, along with eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Bartola, and an infant son, Tommy Love. Mrs. Glasgow was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the Saxton Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Glasgow was once a salesperson for the former Posers store in Huntingdon. "Denny" BLACK, 50, of 10436 South Crooked Creek Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, died at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 15, 1955, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Mary Jane (Shields) Black of Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, and the late Alvin R. Black. He was united in marriage to the former Diana M. Grogan, June 10, 1990, at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, McConnellstown. Mrs. Black survives at home. Mr. Black is also survived by two sons and a daughter, Jonathan Nelson and wife, Christina, Center Union, Huntingdon; Justin Nelson and wife, Jennifer, Huntingdon; and Heather Dubbs and husband, Trevor, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon: and five grandchildren, Kiley Duhbs, Jacob Dubbs, Katelyn Nelson. Abigayle Nelson and Joshua Nelson. He is also survived by a brother and two sisters, Duane Black and wife, Carol, Mill Creek; Denise Wilson and husband, Terry. Huntingdon; and Darlene Black, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by twins, a granddaughter and a grandson. Mr. Black attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. He enlisted in the United States Air Force July 19, 1973, and served at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado. He was honorably discharged July 26, 1974, having been awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Medal. Mr. Black was a life member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Co., where he had served since being a junior firefighter. He had served for many years as foreman and company president. He was also a life member and past president of the Huntingdon County Firemen’s Association. Mr. Black was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon, where he had served on a number of committees over the years and was most recently named esteemed loyal knight. He also served as an officer of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon, for a number of years and was currently a member of the board of trustees. He was also a member of the Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754 and the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, both of Huntingdon; and a home association member of the William P Spyker American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria. Mr. Black was a 1973 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. He was employed with the Area Agency on Aging as a dispatcher for the CART transportation program. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and a resident of his Smithfield Township home since 1991, Mr. Black enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and detailing cars. A firemen’s memorial service will he conducted by members of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Co., at noon Saturday, March 18, with a funeral service immediately following at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with the Rev. KIFER, 57, of 14155 Valley View Circle, Mount Union, and formerly of Jeannette, died Thursday morning, March 16, 2006, at her home. She had been in failing health. Born Sept. 4, 1948, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Rita (Ketter) Loebach. She was united in marriage to Edwin R. "Ed" Kifer, Oct. 3,1971, in Greensburg. Mr. Kifer survives at home. Mrs. Kifer is survived by a step-daughter, Lea Kelley Ripple and husband, Wayne, Allenport; and three step-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters, Richard K. Loebach, North Huntingdon; Jerry W. Loebach, Charlotte, NC.; Robert J. Loebach, Lewistown; Tom G. Loebach, Delmont; Mary Louise Hackley and husband, Kevin Goughneour, West Leechburg: Alma Jean Gustafson and husband, James, Mechanicsburg; and Rita K. She had last worked at the Jeannette High School cafeteria and prior to that, at the former Annette Fashions sewing factory, Jeannette. McMULLEN, 72, of Blairs Mills, RR. 1, died at 11 am. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at his home. Born Jan. 31, 1934, in Mount Union, he was a son of the late Edward D. and Thelma G. (Clevenger) McMullen. Mr. McMullen is survived by two sons, Ronald L. McMullen Jr. and wife. Joann, Shippensburg; and Gary F. McMullen and wife, Jodi, Aspers; and three grandchildren, Jeremy McMullen, Carrie McMullen and Rhonda Gladfelter; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Edwin D. McMullen, Blair; Mills; Carl F. Born Nov. 17, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Alpha Gunter and Levanna "Dolly" Bonnette. Mrs. Foster is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Weyandt and her husband, Ed, Martinsburg; three grandchildren, Crystal Crissman and husband, Ron, Hollidaysburg; Debby Greiner and husband, Chuck, Altoona; and Robert Rightnour Jr. and wife, Elaine, Roaring Spring; five great-grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, Hailey, Brent and Bradley; and a great-great-grandson, C.J. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Paul, Myrtle, Dovie and Pauline. Mrs. Foster was a member of the Newburg Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed volunteering at the Nason Hospital gift shop, Roaring Spring, and crocheting and she loved to read. Mary Lou LEONARD, 75, of Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona, formerly of Saxton, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at the nursing home. She was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Kearney, the daughter of the late Clifford and Vanetta (Hughes) Snyder. She was married Aug. 6, 1951, to Gerald "Shave" Leonard who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1982. Surviving are three sons and a daughter; Gerald "Jerry" Leonard and Ron Leonard, both of Saxton; Larry Snyder of Hustontown and Vanetta Traxler of Mount Union. There are 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters survive; Robert Snyder of Altoona; Tommy Snyder of Baltimore, Md.; Junior Snyder of Hopewell; and Martha Butler and Anna Mae Gates, both of Saxton. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Roy Snyder. Mrs. Leonard was affiliated with the Church of God Tabernacle, Saxton. She was once employed by Quality Manufacturing in Saxton. She also cleaned several banks and homes in Huntingdon and was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Saxton Sportsmen’s Association and the Saxton VFW Post. Born Feb. 16, 1931, in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, he was a son of the late John Calvin and Sara Elizabeth (Guthridge) Savitts. He was united in marriage to the former Rose A. Buseck, June 13, 1951, in Breezewood, by the Rev. Corey Foor. Mrs. Savitts preceded him in death Jan. 7, 2001. Mr. Savitts is also survived by four children, Loretta Miller and John C. Savitts, both of Saxton; Glen F. Savitts, Sidman; and Clara M. Stock, Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He served in the United States Army. A retired truck driver with Youngstown Cartage, Mr. Savitts also operated the Atlantic Service Station in Huntingdon at one time and owned and operated the Country Squire Restaurant and bar in Defiance with his wife. Mrs. Sheeder preceded him in death in 1975. Mr. Sheeder is survived by five children, Willis "Butch" Sheeder Jr., Huntingdon; Tommy Sheeder and wife, Ginger, Shirleysburg; Fred Sheeder and wife, Brenda, Orbisonia; Wyatt "Lynn" Sheeder and wife, Tina, Mount Union; and Wanda Allen and husband, Terry, Oklahoma; and 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Traynor of New Jersey. Mr. Sheeder was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Corps in England from July 1943 to August 1945. Jay Cloyd LOVE, 66, of Crestview, Fla., went to be with the Lord Monday, March 22, 2006. Born May 7, 1939, in Shirleysburg, he was a son of the late Doran and Laura Love. He was united in marriage to Brenda K. Love, who survives at their home. Mr. Love is also survived by three daughters, Annette Love and April Ulfig and husband, Mike, all of Naples, Fla.; and Jessica Brier, Crestview, Fla.; two granddaughters, Emily and Chrissy Barlow; and a great-granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, Garry Love and wife, Darleen, Shirleysburg; and sisters, Norma Peterson and husband, Dale, Shirleysburg; Audrey Fellemen and husband, Bob, Huntingdon; Vena Smith and husband, Don, Hesston; and Janet Lecrone and husband, John, Alexandria. Mr. Love served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. He was a member of the Crestview Elks Lodge No. 2624. Mr. Love retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant and from civil service, where he served with the 19th Special Operations of Eglin Air Force Base Auxiliary Field 3. GUTHRIDGE, 19, of Broad Top City, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Md., of injuries sustained in a work-related accident. Born in Altoona, March 20, 1987, he was a son of Chester Donald and Elizabeth Jane (Blasko) Guthridge of Broad Top City. In addition to his parents, Mr. Guthridge is survived by two sisters, Nicole Leturgey, Three Springs; and Courtney Ramper, Wood; and two nieces and two nephews. Mr. Guthridge was a member of the Saxton First Church of God, 1018 Sixth St., Saxton. He was a member of many Christian youth groups in the area. A 2005 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, he was very involved in the drama club. He had performed such memorable roles as the minstrel in "Once Upon a Mattress," Isadora Strauss in "Titanic," and the reverend in "110 Degrees in the Shade." Mr. Guthridge also sang in district and regional chorus competitions in high school and was a member of the high school band. He worked as a laborer for L. S. Lee & Sons Inc., York. Mr. Guthridge blessed many people with his singing ability, mostly gospel music, and his ability to share Christ with young people. He had performed the National Anthem at the Broad Top Old-timer’s baseball game, the Altoona Curve and the Hall of Fame banquet. As he put it, "I am very social." Born Jan. 15, 1914, in Altoona, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Querry) Crotsley. She was united in marriage to Oscar M. Shope, Dec. 27, 1944, at the Saltillo United Methodist Church, by the Rev. W.W. Breckbill. Mr. Shope preceded her in death in April 1955. Mrs. Shope is survived by two sons, Randall E. Shope and wife, Linda, Saltillo; and Carey C. Shope and wife, Cathy, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Thomas Shope and Amy (Shope) Goldberg. Mrs. Shope was a member of the former Saltillo United Methodist Church for over 80 years and was most recently a member of the First United Methodist Church, Three Springs. She also belonged to the Marry and Join Us Club, Saltillo, and the Woodland Retirement Center Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for a number of years. She was a graduate of nurse’s training at the Lewistown Hospital. Mrs. Shope retired as school nurse in the Tussey Mountain School District with 30 years of service. Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Bellwood, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Ranson and Sarah (Farber) Caswell. She was united in marriage to Ernest Ray Gibson Sr., Feb. 5, 1941, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Gibson preceded her in death April 12, 1985. Mrs. Gibson is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Galloway, Saxton; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Esther Bradford and husband, Clarence; Huntingdon; and an estranged daughter, Judy. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest R. "Butch" Gibson Jr. and eight sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Gibson was of the Protestant faith. She was a 1939 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, where she was an honor student and graduated in the top three of her class. Primarily a homemaker, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Shoe Factory, Altoona, for five years. Mrs. Gibson enjoyed watching QVC, playing bingo, crafts and flowers. He served as a corporal with the United States Army from March 3, 1942, to Nov. 19, 1945, during which time he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Spencer worked for a number of years at Claster’s in Huntingdon. He retired after 27 years of service with Valley Rural Electric. He resided in Hesston for 47 years before moving to his home in Hartslog Valley, and had been a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods since November 2001. Mr. Spencer was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed hunting. Nancy Cook CATANDO, 66, of Woodbury, N.J., died Thursday, March 23, 2006, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Huntingdon. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert Catando. She is also survived by three sons, Dr. Bruce Catando and wife, Cecelia, West Chester; Andrew Catando and wife, Melissa, Woodbury, N.J.; and Steve Catando and wife, Tonya, West Deptford. She is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas, Perry, Geena, Clayton, Olivia and Kristin, with another to be born in May. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. James L. Cook and wife, Linda; and Dr. John Cook and wife, Carol. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jayne Christman. Mrs Catando was a member of the Kemble Methodist Church Woodbury, N.J., and enjoyed activities with the Florence Circle. She graduated from Central Cambria High School, Ebensburg, in 1957, and Juniata College. Huntingdon, in 1961, majoring in elementary education. Mrs. Catando was a lifelong member of the New Jersey Education Association, Gloucester County Retired Teachers Association, Juniata College Alumni Association, Club Gourmet and Woodbury Breakfast Rotary. She had a special talent for teachinig young children, having taught first grade for two and one-half years at the Evergreen Avenue School, Woodbury, N.J., and kindergarten for 26 years at Woodbury Heights Elementary School. She was awarded the prestigious "Teacher of the Year" award and touched the lives of literally hundreds of students and adults. She enjoyed a wide variety of activities, but especially enjoyed reading, biking, vacationing in Ocean City, Md., with her family and friends, and above all, being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed pinochle and bridge, having played bridge with the same eight women for 35 years. She had been a resident of Woodbury, N.J., for 45 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. WENNICK, 90, of 33 Walnut St., Kistler, Mount Union, died at 3:05 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 14, 1915, in McCoysville, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jennie (Campbell) Palm. She married Clinton Wennick in 1939 and he preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1960. Mrs. Wennick is survived by five children; Robert Wennick and wife Bernice, Chambersburg; Terry Wennick and wife, Gayle, Silverford Heights, Mount Union; Sandra Horne and husband, Donald, Mount Union; Nina Vaughn, Mount Union; and Rodney Wennick and wife, Diane, Big Greenbriar Road, McVeytown. There are 18 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wennick was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley McKinley and a grandson, Jamie Cornelius. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. She was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a graduate of Mount Union High School, Class of 1933, and was a member of the Mount Union Alumni Association. Tiffany Danielle BRENNEMAN, 22, of Shade Gap, HCR 75, died at 10:15 am. Friday, March 24, 2006, at the home of her mother in Dublin Township. Born March 24, 1984, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Robert Bookheimer Sr. of Newton Hamilton and Lisa (Brenneman) Sunderland, of Dublin Township. She is survived by two brothers, Richard Brenneman of Shade Gap and Robert Bookheimer Jr. of Mount Union, and two sisters, Helena Sunderland of Shade Gap and Shannon Ramey of Mount Union. Also surviving are her paternal grandparents, Frank and Bonnie Bookheimer of Mount Union, and her maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Ann and Dale Lane of Shade Gap. Ms. Sunderland had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Petersburg in her early years. She was a 2002 graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School. She was employed at Sunny Ridge Restaurant, Shade Gap, and Roy Rogers Restaurant at Blue Mountain on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. She loved cats and enjoyed writing poetry. Born July 8, 1917, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Harry L. and Mae B. (McElwain) Walker. He was united in marriage to the former Charlotte L. Fornwalt Walker, June 12, 1948. Mrs. Walker survives at their residence. Mr. Walker is also survived by a daughter, Sandra Williams, Colstrip, Mont.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Walker was a member of the Fritz Memorial United Methodist Church, Bethlehem. He was a member of the MORA Club, Bethlehem, and was former president of the Washington Republican Club. Mr. Walker retired Aug. 1,1979, after 27 years as a linotype operator for the Globe Times. He was an avid sports fan and known for his great sense of humor. Teddy Augusta "Ted" KARNS, 81, of Karns Lane, Bedford, died at 1:23 am. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 13, 1924, in Bedford, Bedford County, he was a son of the late William A. and Katherine R. (Bagley) Karns. He was first united in marriage to the former Eva R. Stufft; and later to the former Norma Lantz, who survives at home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Karns is survived by a daughter, Teddy Householder and husband, Gregory, McConnellstown; a son, Harry C. Sleaster, Las Vegas, Nev.; and two granddaughters, Taylor E. and Rachel E. Householder, both of McConnellstown. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Harry C. Karns, Bedford; Tommie F. Karns, Williamsburg, Va.; Perry S. Karns, Texas; Edith Belle Bingman, Gloucester, Va.; and Rachel Riggle, Bedford. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry F. Sleaster; and six brothers, Richard G., Paul W., Charles R., James A., Jerry F. and Coy Karns. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Karns served in the United States Army from May 1943 to November 1945 in the Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) campaigns. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Medical Badge and Victory Medal. He was the founder of the Bedford Valley Rod and Gun Club in 1952 and served as president for 16 years and as a financial adviser. He held many other offices for over 50 years and had a game farm for over 27 years. He helped to organize the Evitts Mountain Hunting Organization. He was instrumental in getting the roads south of Bedford resurfaced for the past 50 years and keeping the Springs Mountain Road open. He established the Ted Karns’ Pet Cemetery in 1956 and was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Ted Ickes’ Angels, International Order of Old Bastards Club and a life member of the Bedford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7527, from which he received his 55-year pin in 2001. He served in the original honor guard. Mr. Karns also received a certificate from Governor Tom Ridge for a 50-year voting record. Mr. Karns was the owner and operator of Ted Karns, Painting Contractor and Snow Removal for 40 years. He formerly worked as an insurance agent for Seaboard Mutual Casualty Co. and was co-owner of Karns Brothers Contractors and Lumber Co., Tulls Hills Coffee Shop and Sugar Plum Bakery and Restaurant. Foster Jan. 2, 1948. Mr. Foster preceded her in death July 31, 1979. Mrs. Foster is survived by a son, James D. Foster, Alexandria; a grandson, James D. Foster Jr. and wife, Bev (Devlin); and two great grandsons, Conlan and Devlin Foster. She is also survived by a brother, John White, Reading. She was preceded in death by a brother, James A. White Jr. Mrs. Foster was a former member of Lake Park United Methodist Church, Primarily a homemaker, her main interest was being a mother and grandmother. Born Sept. 13, 1923, in Darvills, Va., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Tucker) Early. She was united in marriage to William L. Rumley, April 9, 1942, in Spartanburg, S.C. Mr. Rumley survives at home. Mrs. Rumley is also survived by two sons, Neal Lacy Rumley, Sparks, Md., and Kurt Lewis Rumley, Orbisonia; and a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Rumley, New Oxford. She is also survived by a sister, Pauline Glazier, Petersburg, Va. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ned Lloyd Rumley and Gary Van Rumley and four brothers and a sister Mrs. Rumley was of the Baptist faith. During her earlier years, she had worked as a long-distance telephone operator. Since moving to southern Huntingdon County in 1971, Mrs. Rumley enjoyed gardening and country life. Larry A. FLECK, 55, of rural Three Springs, died Monday morning, March 27, 2006, at his home in Springfield Twp., Huntingdon Co. Born July 8, 1950, in Springfield Twp., he was a son of the late L. Paul and Estella (Lane) Fleck. He was married to the former Vera E. Colbert in July of 1994. Mrs. Fleck passed away with Mr. Fleck. Surviving are a daughter, Autumn D. Fiscus and her husband, Matthew P., of Huntingdon; a step-son, John A. "Andy" Foster III and his wife, Amy, of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Savanna Fiscus, Rachel Foster and Johnny Foster; and siblings, Inez Ford, of rural Three Springs, Jack Fleck, of rural Three Springs, Kathryn Parsons, of Shippensburg, Garnetta Shope, of rural Three Springs, Gay Fleck, of rural Three Springs, Linda Anderson, of Burnt Cabins, and Karen Weiler, of Mechanicsburg. Two brothers, Eugene and Judson, preceded him in death. Mr. Fleck was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, rural Three Springs, and was instrumental in starting the church. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Southern Huntingdon Co. Young Farmers Association, and also was involved in beekeeping. He, along with his wife, was a longtime supporter of the Huntingdon Co. Fair. He retired from Atlantic Breeders Coop., Lancaster, after over 20 years service. When able, Mr. Fleck was an avid hunter, especially enjoying coon hunting, and an avid gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going on local "wagon trains," and visiting with friends. FLECK, 59, of rural Three Springs, died Monday morning, March 27, 2006, at her home in Springfield Twp., Huntingdon Co. Born February 19, 1947, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and Janet (Stever) Colbert. She was married to Larry A. Fleck in June of 1994. Mr. Fleck passed away with Mrs. Fleck. Surviving are a son, John A. "Andy" Foster III and his wife, Amy, of Petersburg; a step-daughter, Autumn D. Fiscus and her husband, Matthew P., of Huntingdon; three grandchildren, Rachel Foster, Johnny Foster, and Savanna Fiscus; and brother, Harold Colbert and his wife, Judy, of Calvin. Mrs. Fleck was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, rural Three Springs. She was involved in various activities with the church and her former church, the Mooresville United Methodist Church, where at one time she played the piano, sang with the church trio for over 10 years, and taught Sunday School. She was Huntingdon Co. Dairy Princess Coordinator for over 10 years, was a 4-H Leader for many years, and was a member of the Huntingdon Co. Holstein Club, where in 1983, she was the first woman to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award. She also received the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Huntingdon Kiwanis Club, and later received the Shaver's Creek Grange Outstanding Community Service Award. She enjoyed deer hunting and gardening, and also going on local "wagon trains," do-it-yourself projects around her home, visiting with friends, going to dairy shows and especially spending time with her grandchildren. MANNINO, 88, of East Beaver Avenue, State College, and formerly of Lewistown, died at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Manor Care Health Services, Lancaster. Born June 16, 1917, in Robertsdale, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Antonina (Allogi) Spennati. She was united in marriage to Angelo J. Mannino, who preceded her in death July 4, 1971. Mrs. Mannino is survived by two daughters and a son, Paula K. Mannino and husband, Dr. Clayton Ruud, Spokane, Wash.; Frances Mannino Corse and husband, John M. Jr., Lancaster; and John Paul Mannino, Reedsville; six grandchildren; Guy D. McCardle Jr., Vincent M. McCardle, Angela McCardle Aluise, Derek R. Greenaway, Matthew J. Mannino and Robert A. Mannino: and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister and brother, Genevieve Horne, Mill Creek, and Frank Spennati, Aliquippa. Mrs. Mannino was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lewistown, and a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College. She belonged to the City Hook and Ladder Fire Co. Auxiliary. Mrs. Mannino was a 1936 graduate of Mount Union High School. She retired from the Sacred Heart Rectory in 1990 after 20 years of service. Mrs. Mannino always cared about others before herself. She loved her family and loved to feed them. She was generous, kind and a great cook. A funeral Mass will be held Monday in Lewistown. Interment will be private and made in the Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Verna Grace ANTES, 68, 7533 Country Hills Drive, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, died at 3:10 am. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at her residence. Born July 31, 1937, in Altoona, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Ardel and Florence (Helsel) Rhodes. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Richard C. "Dick" Antes March 3, 1956, in the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona. Mr. Antes survives at their home. Mrs. Antes is also survived by two sons and a daughter, Scott C. Antes and wife, Kathy, Wilmington, Del.; Gregory S. Antes and wife. Karen, Dover, Del.; and Shelley C. Dolan and husband, Kevin, Newport, Del.: six grandchildren, Jaime Marshall, Crystal Antes, Jennifer Antes, Bonnie Antes, Collin Antes and Bret Dolan; and a great-grandson, Tyler Antes-Horan. She is also survived by a brother and three sisters, Charles Rhodes, Donna Yonkosky and LeEtta Weber, all of Altoona; and Ruth "Rae" Eckland, Tehachapi, Calif. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Dolan, July 3, 2001. Mrs. Antes was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Antes was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. Primarily a homemaker, she held a number of jobs through the years. Most recently, she had been a bus driver for a handicap school and worked as a teller for the Bank of Delaware until her retirement. Born and reared in Altoona, Mrs. Antes resided in Wilmington, Del., for 32 years. Following retirement, she and her husband moved to their Smithfield Township home in 1994. She enjoyed creating crafts and decorating her home. She also enjoyed entertaining and playing cards and games with family and friends and outing on Raystown Lake with her husband. Most of all, she dearly loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Interment will be made in the All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, Del. Mildred Marie "Bunny" ROGERS, 84, a resident of Cedar Crest, 502 East Howard St., Bellefonte, died at 11:46 am. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born April 22, 1921, in Cromwell Township, she was a daughter of the late Newille and Estella (Brumbaugh) Rogers and was reared in the home of the late Larry McKim. Ms. Rogers is survived by a niece. She was a member of the Huntingdon congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She attended Saltillo public schools. A member of the housekeeping staff, Ms. Rogers retired from Juniata College May 31, 1983. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dogs and birds. YOUNG, 86, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, and for the last 20 years a resident of Johnstown, departed this life to be with the Lord at 9:32 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at the Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus. Born May 7, 1919, in Clinton, NC., he was a son of the late Milton and Mattie Young. He was united in marriage to the former Mamie Speaks, in 1952, who preceded him in death in November 1998. Mr. Young is survived by a sister-in-law, Minnie Speaks Young, Newport, RI.; several first cousins and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dedicated close friends, Willie and Barbara Felosky, Johnstown. He was preceded in death by six siblings; Bertha Louise Young Williams, who had resided in Mount Union; Milton A. Young, Ulysses C. Young, Josephine Young Berry, James Fulton Young and Charles Andrew Young. Mr. Young’s family belonged to the First Baptist Church, Clinton, NC. He enlisted in the United Slates Army in July 1942 and became a member of the 3857th Quartermaster Gas Supply Co. During that time, he worked as an automotive mechanic and gasoline delivery driver. He was stationed in Italy where he bravely served in World War II, delivering supplies of gasoline, under dangerous conditions, to support military operations, until Nov. 2, 1945. He was the recipient of the European African-American Middle Eastern Service Medal. In 1948, Mr. Young began a 33-year civilian career with the United States Department of the Navy, working as an engineering equipment operator with the Naval Education and Training Center in Newport, RI. He retired in 1983, and he and his wife moved to Johnstown. Mr. Young will be missed by many, including his fellow veterans. He took great pride in the fact that he was a World War II veteran and routinely made donations to veteran causes. He received a certificate in 2001 as Donor of the Year for his help in assisting hospitalized veterans. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Robert D. March 31, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Trenton, N.J., the daughter of the late Stephen and Carrie (Kishpaugh) Sincak. She was married to Gene A. Long in July 1976. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Paulette Sayles, and her husband, Steve, of Wisconsin, and Carol Morrison and her husband, Galen, of Riddlesburg; and a son, John Sudol Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Kentucky. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughhter, Jeanette Ann Sudol, and a grandson, Bryan Keith Gabrielson. Mrs. Long was a member of the Oasis of Love Church in the Valley, Saxton. R.R. 1. She was a waitress at Kelly’s Korner in Huntingdon. STETLER, 75, of York, died following a lengthy illness Friday, March 31, 2006, at his home. Born April 5, 1930, in New Cumberland, he was a son of the late Leroy and Mary (Doyle) Stetler. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret F. Myers, whose family is formerly of the Shirleysburg area. They celebrated 56 years of marriage Sept. 5, 2005. Mrs. Stetler survives at home. Mr. Stetler is also survived by two sons and a daughter, Daryl R. Stetler, Wellsville; Van R. Stetler, South Carolina; and Diana R.S. Meckley, New York; and a granddaughter, Laura E.S. Smith, New Freedom. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Rosemary Allie, Michigan; Anna Danko, Minnesota; and Samuel Stetler, Mechanicsburg. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Mr Stetler was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, York. He was a 32nd degree Free and Accepted Mason and a former member of the Shiloh Lions Club and the York Riflemen’s Association. Mr. Stetler was a 1948 graduate of New Cumberland High School and completed two years at Thompson Business College. He also took several insurance courses at Hartford Connecticut Business School. An account executive in the insurance industry for 30 years, Mr. Stetler was employed by the Roy L. Geesey Insurance Agency and retired in 1990 from the Glatfelter Insurance Group. As a teenager, Mr. Stetler and others were spotters for enemy aircraft over the Harrisburg Airport during the war. He enjoyed reading, gardening, musicals, studying history and genealogy. Mr. Stetler was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions football fan. He and his wife shared special times traveling. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made in the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Shirleysburg. Nancy (Thomas) MacDonald SHERIDAN, 75, of Huntingdon, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus, following a brief illness. Born June 7, 1930, in Collingswood. N.J., she was a daughter of the late W. Carroll and Virginia (Stewart) Thomas. She was twice married, first to William W MacDonald, May 7, 1949. Mr MacDonald preceded her in death May 10, 1954. She later married Philip H. Sheridan Feb. 17, 1962. Mr. Sheridan preceded her in death June 7, 2002. Mrs. Sheridan is survived by three daughters and two sons; Suzanne M. Snare and husband, Gerald, Huntingdon; Pamela C. Rinker and husband, Roger, Parma, Ohio; Carole A. Sheridan. Fort Pierce, Fla.; S. Wade MacDonald and wife, Wendy, Mount Union: and William W. MacDonald Jr. and wife, Ethel, Huntingdon; and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dortie T. Ness and husband. Percy, London, Tenn.; and Gretchen T. Sharp and husband, Don, Erial, N.J. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty T. Sherry, and a grandson, Cortney W, Stewart. Mrs. Sheridan was a member of the Huntingdon County Arts Council Board. She was also part of a special group of women who have been playing cards together for over 50 years. She was a 1947 graduate of Collingswood High School, Collingswood, N.J., and attended Juniata College. Mrs. Sheridan had worked as a bookkeeper for Heine Buick-Cadillac Garage and Huntingdon Oil Co. She was a decorative artist who was well known for her painted wood items. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
