Our Petersburg correspondent writes that Mrs. Christiana Massey, relict of Dr. Massey, one of the oldest and most respected resident of Petersburg, died on last Monday evening at the ripe old age of 86. It is a remarkable fact that Mrs. Massey through her long life has suffered but few aches or pains, and up to a few days previous to her death had been in the enjoyment of excellent health. A short time since she was taken suddenly ill, and was seized with a fit of vomiting, which compelled her to take her bed. This was followed by gangrene setting in in her right hand and arm, which terminated in her death as stated above. Mrs. Massey by kind words and deeds of benevolence has endeared herself to not a few of the town's folks, and she leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her demise. She outlived her husband 26 years. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, December 1, 1880
