Mateer died at his home in Petersburg on Sunday evening after a long illness, but the immediate cause of death was a stroke of apoplexy suffered on last Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Lucy A. Mateer, and the following children: Elsie, wife of William Hoffner of Donation, Charles H. of McAlevy's Fort, Blanch, wife of J. B. Deering of Petersburg, and Homer C. of Altoona. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister. The deceased was born Feb. 18, 1848, in Huntingdon county, and at the time of his death was aged 70 years, 2 months and 10 days. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Richardson, with interment in Steffy cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday Morning, May 1, 1918
