Shirley St., Mount Union, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at Valley View Haven. Born Feb. 22, 1923, in Mifflintown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel David and Stella (Shoemaker) Zeiders. She was united in marriage to Fredric N. Radle June 14, 1947, in Mifflintown. Her husband preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1974. Three children survive: David T. Radle, Mount Union; Janice Radle, Wichita, Kan..; and Judith Hauck, Enola. There are six grandchildren. One brother, Dr. Samuel David Zeiders II of Mifflintown survives. Mrs. Radle graduated from Juniata High School in Juniata County with the Class of 1940. She received her B.S. degree in education from Juniata College, graduating in 1944. Mrs. Radle worked for 21 years as a home economics teacher at the Mount Union Area High School. She had also worked as a home economics extension representative for the Huntingdon County Extension Service. She was a member and past president of the Ladies Golf Association at the Mount Union American Legion Country Club. She was a former member of the Ladies Bridge Club in Mount Union and had served on the election board. A member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, she served as president of the church council. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Peter Naschke officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday, May 4, from 7 until 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Laura V. LOVE, 90, of P.O. Box 84, Shirleysburg, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital. She had been in failing health. Born Jan. 6, 1910, in Blacklog Valley, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Elizabeth (Laird) Varner. She married Doran W. Love Jan. 28, 1931, at the Varner home. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1977. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Dale (Norma) Peterson, Shirleysburg; Mrs. Donald (Vena) Smith, Huntingdon; Mrs. Robert (Audrey) Fellman, Hartslog Valley, Huntingdon, R.D. 1; Jay C. Love, Crestview, Fla.; Mrs. John (Janet) LeCrone, Alexandria; and Garry D. Love, Shirleysburg, R.D. 1. There are 20 grandchildren, one step- granddaughter; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Kenneth (Sarah) Hockenberry, Ft. Loudon, and Minnie Hockenberry, Spring Run. Mrs. Love was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great-grandson and the following brothers and sisters: Mae Rhodes, Isaac Varner, Emory Varner, Raymond Varner, Jim Varner, Decker Varner and an infant brother, Charles Varner. Mrs. Love was a member of the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church, where she taught an adult Sunday School class for many years. An active member of her church, she served as trustee and a member of the official board. She was a devoted volunteer at the Shirley Home and was a member of the Shirley Home Auxiliary. She was also a charter member of the Shirleysburg Heritage Association and the Shirleysburg Homemakers. She had served as judge of elections in Shirleysburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Rich Morris and the Rev. Tom Maurer officiating. MADILIA, 86, formerly of Mount Union, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born July 3, 1913, in Mount Union, he was the, son, of the late Tony Sr. and Concetta (Ruzzo) Madilia. His wife, Flora Madilia, preceded him in death. Surviving are a brother, Tony Madilia Jr. of Mount Union, and a sister, Francis Troupiano, Philadelphia. Mr. Madilia was a commercial truck driver and had worked for the Griffith Gas Station in Mount Union. A U.S. Army veteran of World War 11, he was of the Catholic faith. A viewing will be held today from 5 until 8 p.m. and the David M. Myers,, Funeral Home, Newport. A funeral Mass will be held at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon. PYNE, 59, of Calvin, died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. His death was unexpected. Born June 24, 1940, in Mount Union, he was a son of the late Guy and Jeanette (Garman) Pyne. He was married to Susie S. Goss May 25, 1973, in Orbisonia. Mrs. Pyne survives at home, along with four children: Robert E. Pyne, Aloha, Ore.; Guy C. Pyne, Calvin; Barbara L. Jameson, Saltillo; and Jenny L. Pyne, Philadelphia. There are six grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Gayle Wennick, Silverford Heights, Mount Union; and Brenda Grau, Kistler. One sister, Joann Long, preceded him in death. Mr. Pyne was of the Methodist faith. He had worked in the garment industry his entire life and had owned and operated Amity Fashions in Mount Union for four years before retirement. Since retiring, Mr. Pyne was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Interment will be made in the Wright Cemetery, Calvin, R.D. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. this evening and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday. James Herman GLOVER, 77, of P.O. Box 132, Newton Hamilton, died at 7:28 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital, following a brief illness. Born June 13, 1922, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late John Austin Glover and Mary M. (Palmer) Glover Kerr. His stepfather, Orpheus Kerr, preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Barbara E. Treaster Aug. 1, 1962, by the Rev. Charles Rhodes in Three Springs. She survives, along with two sons: James "Jigs" E. Glover and Fredrick V. Treaster, both of MeVeytown. Mrs. Darlene E. Zweig, a relative who was reared in the home, survives in State College. There are two grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. One son Herman W. Glover, a granddaughter and a grandson, preceded him in death. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Glover; a stepsister, Helen Hobble; and a step- brother, Leon Kerr. Mr. Glover attended the Center School at Atkinsons Mills and the Mount Union schools. He worked as a farmer and enjoyed raising pigs and cows and raking hay. In the past he had been employed by North American Refractories in Mount Union and also worked at a brickyard in Morrisville. He was a truck driver for Devor's Trucking in McVeytown and for C.A. Shetrom, Huntingdon. For a time he was also self-employed owner-operator. He worked as a truck driver from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., retiring in 1988, after 17 years of service. Following retirement, Mr. Glover worked part-time for the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center in Mill Creek, Riverside and Weis Market stores in Mount Union, and at Fortney's Exxon Service Station on Route 22 in Mount Union. He was of the Protestant faith. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Charles Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. Valoris W. "Jim" YINGLING, 66, of Three Springs, R.D. 1, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 14, 1933, in Orbisonia, he was the son of the late Ralph J. and Gladys L. (Sechrist) Yingling. He was married to Wanda M. Drenning July 4, 1958, in Hustontown. Mrs. Yingling survives at home, along with three children: Bryan Yingling, Three Springs; Sonja Parkinson, Jeannette; and Tonya Gutshall, Three Springs. There are six grandchildren. Mr. Yingling was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Waterfall, where he served as Sunday School superintendent. He was a past master of Cromwell Lodge No. 572, F&AM, Orbisonia and had served on Southern Huntingdon County School Board for 12 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1956-1958. Mr. Yingling was employed as a council representative for Western Pennsylvania Regional District Council of Carpenters Union Local No. 616, Chambersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. Interment will be made in the Center Cemetery, Hustontown, R.D. BREON Sr., 68, of 282 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at 5:37 a.m., at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born Feb. 16, 1932, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Homer and Mildred (Davies) Breon. He married Betty A. Lehman Oct. 20,1990. Mrs. Breon survives at home, along with the following children: Kenneth E. Breon, Michigan; Joanne L. Reed, Gettysburg; Phillip A. Breon, Chambersburg; Mrs. John (Teresa M.) Eastman, Mrs. Rick (Deborah I.) Nitz and Rodney L. Breon, all of Michigan; and John Breon, Chambersburg. One stepson, Victor E. Blaye of Chambersburg also survives. One sister, Ann Myers of Chambersburg, and a brother, Paul Breon of Huntingdon County, survive. There are 16 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters, as well as a son, Walter M. Breon Jr. Mr. Breon was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He had been employed for a number of years at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove; B and B Roofing in Chambersburg; and the former Burkholder's Painting. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Charles M. Nitterhouse Post No. 1599 VFW, Chambersburg. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Failing Spring Road, Chambersburg, Monday, May 8, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Ronald E. Dull officiating. HARSHBARGER, 89, formerly of 811 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, died Friday, May 5, 2000 at 2 a.m. at the Valley View Retirement Community in Belleville. She was born March 9, 1911 at Stone Creek Ridge, the daughter of the late Howard F. and Mary W. (Johns) Westover. She married Harry F. Harshbarger Feb. 6, 1937 in Snydertown. He preceded her in death Dec. 16,1994. She is survived by three children: Harry F. Harshbarger Jr. of Robertsdale, HCR 1; Mrs. Thomas (Judith A.) Magruder of Great Falls, Mt., and Grady D. Harshbarger of Duncannon. She is also survived by two sisters: Bessie Rhodes and Annie Westover, both of Huntingdon, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchilden. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters: Harvey Westover, Paul Westover, Alton Westover, Jennie Westover, Maude Bradley and Delia Westover. Mrs. Harshbarger was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. She was primarily a homemaker and volunteered as a 4-H Club advisor. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon with the Rev. Peter E. Sears officiating. Maxwell Street, Mount Union, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2000, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. He had been in failing health. Mr. Tritle was born July 22, 1909, in McConnellsburg, the son of the late Charles and Winifred (Hellman) Tritle. He married Willimine Brumbaugh on March 13, 1928. She preceded him in death June 2, 1992. Mr. Tritle is survived by a son, Dr. Robert L. Tritle of Rossville, Md. He is also survived by a sister, Mabel Lemaster of Chambersburg, a granddaughter and three, great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Goldie, Bertha and Ethel, and three brothers, Parker, Charles and Bib. Mr. Tritle was a member of the, First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. He spent his childhood in Fort Loudon and, at age 16, began his career at Harbison-Walker Refractories, retiring as plant manager in 1972 after 47 years of service. He was a past member of the Mount Union Lion's Club and a former member of the Mount Union Borough Council, where he served as chairman of the police department committee. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 8, at 11 a.m., at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home in Mount Union with the Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Interment will be made in the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. Mary Ruth CLEVENGER, 60, of Montalba, Texas, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at her home. Born Nov. 5, 1939, in Wells Tannery, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Duvall and June (Watkins) Duvall, who survives in Three Springs. She married Donald Clevenger, who survives at home. Also surviving are a son and two daughters: Rodney Clevenger, West Salem, Ohio; Debbie Ruf, Montalba; and Glenda Vetrovsky, Brunswick, Ohio. There are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Five brothers and four sisters survive: Robert Duvall, Lawrence Duvall and William Duvall, all of Robertsdale; Jim Duvall, Three Springs; Richard Duvall, Broad Top; Betty Johnson, Wells Tannery; Vera Smith, Hopewell; Dorothy Davis, Chambersburg; and Louise Wilson, Broad Top. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Duvall, and a daughter, Connie Larsen. Mrs. Clevenger had lived in Montalba for eight years. Prior to that, she was a resident of Brunswick, Ohio, for 30 years. She was a homemaker for many years before working for Wal-Mart in Palestine, Texas, for six years, in the deli department. MOLOSKY, 70, of 708 Station St., Saxton, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at 6:50 p.m., at the Altoona Hospital. Her death was unexpected. Born Oct. 10, 1929, in Waynesboro, Va., she was a daughter of the late Clement and Mary (Taylor) Fitzgerald. She was united in marriage to Alexander F. Molosky June 28, 1946, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death June 30, 1996. Surviving are the following children: Betty D. Love, Saxton; William Molosky, Fredericksburg, Va.; Michael D. Molosky, Huntingdon; Joseph M. Molosky, Saxton; Linda L. Molosky, Everett; and Gordon W. Molosky, Saxton. There are 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. One daughter, Barbara A. Worthing, preceded her in death. One brother and two sisters survive: Lewis Fitzgerald and Kathleen Weaver, both of Waynesboro, Va.; and Annie Adolphson, Saxton. Mrs. Molosky was a member of the Robertsdale Church of God. She was primarily a homemaker but had worked for Quality Manufacturing in Saxton and the Cove Shoe Factory in Martinsburg. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, at 10 a.m., at the Robertsdale Church of God, with Pastor Don Simmons officiating. Interment will be made in the Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, R.D. Ida Josephine TAYLOR, 73, formerly of 440 Columbia St., Petersburg, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at 8:10 a.m. in Huntingdon Manor where she had resided since September 1999. She had been in failing health for the past six months. Bom Jan. 31, 1927, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Middleton and Anna Kathrine (McMahon) Owens. She was united in marriage to Charles "Bud" Quentin Taylor Sr. Jan. 17, 1947, at the Petersburg Lutheran parsonage. Mr. Taylor preceded her in death Sept. 10, 1999. One son, Charles "Chuck" Quentin Taylor Jr. of Petersburg, survives. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. One sister, Gladys Bishop, preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor had worked: for a number of years at the Petersburg Sewing Factory. She was a member of the Crever Memorial United Methodist Church, Petersburg, and was a long- time resident of Petersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Sharon L. Landis officiating. Box 214, Petersburg, Pa. 16669. Harold H. QUERRY, 69, of R.D. 1, Box 1, Mount Union, died unexpectedly at 1:05 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, at the home of Betty Roberts, Mount Union, R.D. 1. Born Dec. 13, 1930, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Milton H. and Catherine (Garman) Querry. He was formerly married to Mary Strawser, who lives in Silverford Heights, Mount Union, R.D. 1. Harold is survived by his fiancee, Betty (Locke) Roberts. Also surviving are two sons: Ronald H. "Mugs" Querry of Fallen Timber and Michael E. Querry, Country Club Road, Mount Union, R.D. 1. There are two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive: Chester Querry, Forestville; Lorma McKinney, Lewistown; and Pauline Leffel, Morristown. Three stepsisters survive: Gloria Didyk and Shirley Brumbaugh, both of Altoona, and Edna Querry, McConnelistown. Mr. Querry was preceded in death by a grandchild and a step- brother, Kenneth Querry. He had been employed by Pennsylvania Glass Sand in Mapleton as a truck driver, retiring in 1992, after 38 years of service. He was an avid CB radio operator, with the handle "Ridgerunner." He attended the Mapleton schools and was a member of the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton, R.D. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Robert D. BIEMESDERFER, 61, of Carlstadt, N.J., died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home. Born June 6, 1938, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Harry R. and Grace (Bortell) Biemesderfer. He married Marieanne Erbsenbacher, who survives at home. Also surviving are four children: Richard Biemesderfer, Robert Biemesderfer, Tracey Behrens and Karen Damoth, all of New Jersey. One brother and a sister, James K. Biemesderfer and Mrs. George (Mary Lou) Houck, both of Huntingdon, survive. Two brothers, Harry R. Biemesderfer and Horace L. Biemesderfer, preceded him in death. Mr. Biemesderfer was employed by J.P. Smith and Company of Carlstadt, N.J. He was a 1956 graduate of the Huntingdon High School. A memorial service was held May 7 in New Jersey. Myrtle I. PYLE, 80, of 109 Ferguson Valley Road, Mount Union, R.D. 1, died at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. She had been in failing health. Born April 13, 1920, in Millerstown, she was the daughter of the late S. Thomas Watts and Grace (Snouffer) Watts Ammerman. She was united in marriage to John W. Pyle Aug. 29, 1947, in Oil City. He preceded her in death March 15, 1990. Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. David (Grace) Knox, Mount Union; and Katherine Ellis, Mifflintown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Watts. Mrs. Pyle was a member of the Mount Union Presbyterian Church. A 1936 graduate of the Mount Union High School, she retired from L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing in Mount Union. Private funeral services will be held at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Edmund SEIDERS Jr., 70, of Everett, died at 2:10 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, at the UPMC Bedford Memorial Center, Everett. Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Cito, Fulton County, he was the son of the late Edmund and Lois G. (Cutchall) Seiders. He was united in marriage to Virginia A. Garland. Mrs. Seiders survives in Everett, along with two sons and three daughters: Mona Bookheimer, Hustontown; Roger Seiders, South Mountain; Denise Ramsey, Wells Tannery; Douglas Seiders, McConnellsburg; and Tina Dillman, Hustontown. There are nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, four step-grandchildren and 10 step- great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters survive: Merrill "Bud" Seiders, Fayetteville, Thelma Grissinger, Carl Seiders and Betty Jane Sheffield, all of McConnellsburg; and Robert "Bobby" Seiders, Erin, Tenn. Three sisters, Mildred "Mid" Starliper, Ella Mae "Pete" Hann, and Bertha "Bert" Strait, preceded him in death. Mr. Seiders was a member of the Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, R.D. He loved hunting and fishing at his retirement home along the river. He had previously worked for 20 years at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He later was the owner and operator of Seiders' Appliance and Grocery Store, Knobsville, for many years. He retired in 1991 as a supervisor with Waring Products, McConnellsburg, after 13 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with the Rev. Chris Elliott officiating. Interment will be made in the Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, R.D. One son, Amos Leo Shaw, preceded him in death March 1939. One grandson, Byron Shaw, is also deceased. One brother, Harold Shaw of McConnellsburg, survives. One sister, Bernice Black, is deceased. Mr. Shaw was of the Protestant faith. He retired in 1988 as a heavy equipment operator doing highway construction. He was last employed by Harrison Construction Co., Pittsburgh. FIRTKO, 87, of Penn Township, Butler, died at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born May 22, 1912, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of George and Evelyn (Troutwein) Kocher. She is survived by a stepson, Albert Firtko, a stepdaughter, Victoria, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh Stephenson; her second husband, Albert Firtko; two sisters, Anna Piper and Sara LaPorte; and an infant brother. Mrs. Firtko had been an elementary teacher in the Tyrone and Huntingdon Area school districts and the Richland School District in Butler. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively throughout the world. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Betty (Rittenhouse) LINDSAY, 73, of 730 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 3:10 p.m., at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born June 19, 1926, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late S. Paul and Mariah (Corbin) Rittenhouse. She was united in marriage to Charles E. "Tinker" Lindsay June 22, 1946, at the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1994. One son, Randall E. Lindsay of Huntingdon, survives. There is one grandson. Also surviving are a sister and a brother, Kathlyn "Kass" Reed of Huntingdon and Lester C. Rittenhouse of Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Paul R. Rittenhouse and Russell Rittenhouse, preceded her in death. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was employed as a secretary/bookkeeper at Swigart Associates, Inc., and later with General Finance Service Corp., Huntingdon. She retired from the Borough of Huntingdon in 1981, as a bookkeeper. She attended the Huntingdon public schools and was a member of Huntingdon High School Class of 1944. A resident of Huntingdon County since birth, she had lived at her current residence for ten years. She enjoyed crafts and sewing. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Gary H. Marcy officiating. WARFIELD, 82, of Orbisonia, died at 6:22 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Aug. 24, 1917, in Orbisonia, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Ella M. (Smith) Glunt. She married William R. Warfield July 25, 1936, at Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Warfield preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1964. Three children survive: Charles R. Glunt Jr., Laurel, Md.; Ronald W. Glunt, Orlando, Fla.; and Terry L. Jones, Orbisonia. Robert Otis COFFELT, 74, of Huntingdon, R.D. 3, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 8:30 p.m., at his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected. Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Marion, Ind., he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Heisey) Coffelt. He was united in marriage to Patricia M. Gibbons Dec. 15, 1951, in Media. She survives at home, along with four children: Robert A. Coffelt, Oxford; Martina M. Coffelt, Carlsbad, Calif.; Marsue C. Lewis, Oxford; and Eric G. Coffelt, Hailey, Ind. There are six grandchildren. Mr. Coffelt was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was of the Presbyterian faith. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served for 22 1/2 years, retiring in 1955 with the rank of lieutenant. He served as catapult and arresting gear officer aboard aircraft carriers during World War II in the Pacific Theater of War with the carrier battle group and during the Korean Conflict also with a carrier battle group. During the Vietnam Conflict, he was a military attaché to the U.S. Marine Air Corps while a civil service employee. He was currently serving as a Henderson Township Supervisor. Born May 25, 1910, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Gifford) Gearhart. Her first marriage was to Stanley Cody and her second marriage was to Julius Viger. Both of her husbands preceded her in death. Surviving are two children: John Cody, Santorinni, Greece; and Mrs. Frederick (Denise) Williams, Ft. Myers, Fla. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother: Jean L. Gearhart, Sally Gearhart, Mary Gearhart and Anna Gearhart, and Joseph Gearhart, who was killed in action during World War II. Mrs. Viger was a retired registered nurse. She was employed by the state of Connecticut for 35 years, at the Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. For 15 years, she was public health nurse, employed by the city of Middletown. A member of AARP, she was very active in her community and was a volunteer. Jones Sr. Sept. 18, 1923, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Jones preceded her in death April 2, 1975. Surviving are two sons and one daughter: H.A. Jones Jr., Westerville, Ohio; James S. Jones, Lafayette, La., and Mrs. Harold (Margaret E.) Richards, Hollidaysburg. There are 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a number of women's lodges in Huntingdon. A 1923 graduate of Huntingdon High School, she was primarily a homemaker. A resident of Huntingdon County since birth, she had lived at her current residence for 69 years. Mrs. Jones enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and sewing. "Gib" KING, 70, of State College died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Centre Community Hospital. Born Dec. 7, 1929, in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late Gilbert H. and Helen Williams King. On Sept. 2, 1956, he married Phyllis S. Showers, who survives at home. He was a 1948 graduate of Bellefonte High School. An Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. For 30 years, he worked for A&P stores and was a produce manager prior to going to work as a salesman for General Computer Co. He was a member of Black Panther Camping Club of rural Spring Mills. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah S. Born in 1914, in Huntingdon, he is survived by his wife, Ann Rhodes Miller, at home, and two daughters: Katharine Miller of Wilton, Conn., and Barbara Miller, New York, N.Y. There are two grandchildren. Mr. Miller graduated from Juniata College, where he received his B.S. in chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1940. He joined Union Carbide Corp. and was in research and development with the chemicals division in South Charleston, W.Va. After holding a series of posts in the company, he was named president of the chemicals division in 1966 and successively, president of the coatings materials division and president of the plastic products division. He was appointed vice president in charge of corporate technology with administrative responsibility also for Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1974. He retired in 1978 and moved to Tryon, N.C. Mr. Miller was a member of the Tryon Rotary Club, FISH, Lanier Library, Tryon Red Cross and the Red Fox Club. He was past board member of Juniata College, emeritus; and was a member of the Society of Sigma Xi, Industrial Research Institute, emeritus; Directors of Industrial Research, emeritus; and the American Chemical Society. In 1992, he was inducted into the Tryon chapter of the Second Wind Society. He received the Joseph W. Wells Memorial Award from the Rotary Club in 1988. Born Nov. 1, 1952, in Six Mile Run, he was, the son of the late Roland W. Thomas, and Beatrice (Snyder) Thomas, who survives in Hopewell. He was united in marriage to Donna J. Bush April 27, 1974, in Hopewell. She survives at home. Three children survive: Angie Thomas, Riddlesburg; David Brown, Hopewell; and Betty Jo Eller, Bedford. Born July 16, 1922, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Amos and Mary (Browand) English. She married Edward D. Baker March 11, 1944, at the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon. The Rev. H.H. Nye officiated at the ceremony. Mr. Baker preceded her in death in 1978. Surviving are four children: Mrs. John (Mary Anne) Redington, Macungie; Mrs. Michael C. (Janice Lynn) Mohn, Winchester, Va.; Edward D. Baker, Ashaway, R.I.; 'and Mrs. Allan (Elizabeth) Andreycak, Bel Air, Md. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Jack R. English, Charles Frederick English and Donald Browand English. Mrs. Baker was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, Hunting-don. Active in volunteer work, Mrs. Baker provided service to Westminster Woods Retirement Center, Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross. A member of the auxiliary of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, Huntingdon, she was also active in her church. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, church choir and served as deacon and member of the board. For several years, Mrs. Baker served as the majority inspector in the Fifth Ward of the Borough of Huntingdon. As a registered nurse, Mrs. Baker was employed for 12 years by the Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia. Later she served for 12 years at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, and as a private duty nurse for over eight years prior to her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Baker attended the Huntingdon public school and graduated with the Class of 1940 from Huntingdon High School. She was also a graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia with the Class of 1944. White attending nursing school, Mrs. Baker was a member of the Cadet Nurses Corps from 1943- 1944. She had lived at her current residence since 1967. Born May 13, 1913, in Walker Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Heester C. and May (Anderson) Wakefield. He married Helen L. Benson, who survives at home. He was employed as a machinist at the Juniata Shops for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He retired from the State Correctional Institution in Huntingdon as a guard. Willow St., Mount Union, died unexpectedly at her home Wednesday, May 17, 2000. Born Aug. 29, 1922, in Blacklog, Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sadie (Bilger) Vaughan. She married George Wesley Welliver, who preceded her in death in January 1981. Mrs. Welliver is survived by a son, William ."Bill" W. Welliver, Southwick, Mass., and three grandchildren. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Melvin "Bird" Vaughan, Manchester, Md.; Raymond Vaughan, Mill Creek; Jack Vaughan, McSherrystown; Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Covert, Shade Gap; and Mrs. Harry (Mildred) Shafer. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister: Paul Vaughan, who was killed in action during World War II; Homer Vaughan; Henry Vaughan; and Genevieve Vaughn. Mrs. Welliver was a graduate of the Orbisonia High School, Class of 1941. At one time, she had been employed by L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing, Mount Union, and the former Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. A member of the Birthday Club, she enjoyed quilting, and making quilts for AIDS babies. BAILEY, 70, of McVeytown, died at 10:55 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2000 at the Lewistown Hospital. Born June 16, 1929 in Oliver Township, Mifflin County he was the son of the late Walter and Viola (Bilger) Bailey. He was united in marriage to the former Betty A. (Gill), Aug. 2, 1953. She survives at their home. - He is survived by six children: Mrs. Robert C. (Vickie) Romig, Yeagertown; Mrs. Wilbur (Patricia) Rhodes Jr., New Bloomfield; Rodney L. Bailey, Lewistown; Jeffrey L. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Helen Carter of Dayton, Ohio; Albert Wilson of Lewistown; Harold Bailey, Mifflintown; Earl Bailey and Kenneth Bailey both of McVeytown and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard having served with the 176th Armored Battalion. He retired June 30, 1993 as a general custodian for the Mifflin County School District with 25 years of service. He last worked at the Strodes Mills Middle School. He was a member of the McVeytown United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Sunday School Class. He was also a former Boy Scout Commissioner for McVeytown Troop 105. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and a gold medal recipient for scouting. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time. He was part of the U. S. Naval Reserve during World War II as he was then working in a critical war material industry with Martin Corp. He retired from Boeing as a design engineer after 30 years of service in the Eddystone area. He was an avid golfer and history buff. Born Nov. 27, 1979, in Altoona, he was the son of Harold D. and Mary Lee (Grebe) Isenberg. He is survived by his parents of Tyrone; a sister, Heather L. Isenberg of Tyrone; a step-grandmother, Connie Isenberg, Juniata, Altoona; several aunts, uncles and a nephew. A 1998 graduate of the Tyrone Area High School, he was active on the swim team and was a drummer in the band. He was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and had helped many boys attain their Eagle Scout Award. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting the Gunp-a-Din Hunting Camp at Le Contes Mills. He had attended the Tipton Baptist Church and had been associated with the Pennsylvania National Guard since l1th grade. He had been a full time recruiter for the Guard since April. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Naugle was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Mount Union. He had served as Cass Township supervisor and was on the Southern Huntingdon County School Board. He retired June 1979, as regional equipment supervisor with PennDOT after 25 years of service. Prior to that, he owned and operated a sawmill. Mr. Naugle was a veteran of World War II, serving from August 1942 until November 1945 with the U.S. Army 820 Aviation Engineers Battalion, Headquarters Division in England, Germany, France and Belgium. He was working as a truck driver when he became ill. Born Aug. 16, 1958, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Jimmy A. Sr. ,and Audrey J. (Miller) Reeder, who survive at Mapleton, R.R. 1. Along with his parents, he is also survived by a brother and a sister: Beth Ann Greenland of HC 2, Wells Tannery, and Jimmy A. Reeder Jr., Mapleton, R.D. 1. His paternal grandfather, Herbert A. R an of Mount Union, R.D. 3, survives. Mr. Reeder was a member of the Bowman's Chapel United Methodist Church, Mapleton, R.D. 1. A 1976 graduate of the Southern Huntingdon County High School, he went to work at the Weis Market in Mount Union and after two years transferred to the Mifflintown store where he was a produce manager. After several years he went to work for Noerr Trucking and in 1990 as a coast-to-coast truck driver for Zimmerman Truck Lines in Mifflintown, which was his current employer. Born Sept. 7, 1906, in East Liverpool, Ohio. she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Webster) Dudley. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Edward A. Pedrette June 8, 1946, at Christ Episcopal Church in Wellsburg, W.Va. He preceded her in death July 27, 1978. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Dudley. Mrs. Pedrette was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Huntingdon. She was a graduate of the Chester Public School and Fairmont State Teachers' College, both in West Virginia. She taught in the Chester public school and was later a teacher and music supervisor in the Hancock County schools, also in West Virginia. Mrs. Pedrette had resided in Huntingdon since 1950. She assisted her husband, who was rector of St. John's Episcopal Church until his retirement in 1965. Born June 16, 1978 in Huntingdon, he was the son of Robert James Jr.and Debra K. (Eutzy) Walters. He is survived by his parents at Huntingdon, R.D. 2, and a brother, Ricky N. Eutzy of State College. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, James and Ethel Eutzy of McVeytown; and paternal grandmother, Sylvia Illes of Coatesville. He was a grandson of the late Robert J. Walters Sr. Mr. Walters was of the Protestant faith. He was first employed at the Tuckaway Tree Farm near McAlevys Fort at the age of 11 and worked there through high school. After his graduation in 1998 from Huntingdon Area High School, he went to its Florida branch, Florida Plant & Tree in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. , where he was currently employed. Sidney Otis NORTHAM Jr., 80, of Snow Hill, Md., died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, Md., he was the son of the late Sidney Otis Northam Sr. and Doris (Adkins) Northam and the late Jewell B. Northam. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie G. Northam, and two children: Ann J. Northam of Salisbury and Gerald Sidney Northam of Stevensville. There is one granddaughter. Two sisters, Virginia N. McIlroy of Huntingdon and Margaret Ann "Peggi" Bortz of Snow Hill, Md., survive. Several nieces and nephews survive, including a nephew in the Huntingdon area, along with two nieces formerly of Huntingdon. Mr. Northam was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard C. Northam and David E. Northam, and two aunts. He retired from Delmarva Power after 44 years of service as a meter reader and was a member of the Vingt Cinq Club. He was also a retired farmer and a devoted steward of the land. His favorite tree was the dogwood and his favorite flower was the hollyhock. Other favorites of his were the songs "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and "Cool, Cool Water," by the Sons of the Pioneers. He served his country during World War II as a corporal in the United States Army Signal Corps. He was a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau; an active member of the American Legion Post No. 67 in Snow Hill for over 50 years; Furnace Town Foundation; Queponco Railway Station in Newark; and Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. HOFFMAN, 83, of Hustontown, died at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Jan. 2, 1917, in Saltillo, he was a son of the late Russell and Emma (Gladfelter) Hoffman. He was married to Ruth J. A. Barnett ApriI1 15, 1944, in Saitillo, by the Rev. Joe Miller. Mrs. Hoffmar survives at home. Also surviving are a sister and two brothers: Ethel McNeal, Lewistown; Lloyd Hoffman and Cloyd Hoffman, both of Three Springs. One brother, Harvey Hoffman, preceded him in death. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Hoffman had occasionally attended the Mt. Tabor Church of the Nazarene, Hustontown, R.D. At one time, he was a member of the Hustontown Volunteer Fire Company. He retired in 1972 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, after approximately 26 years of service. Prior to that, he was employed as a coal miner and had worked for Greencastle Packing Co. in Hustontown; and Knouse Foods, Chambersburg; and was also involved in farming. Mr. Hoffman was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Germany and the Philippines from 1942-1946. Born Jan. 10, 1926, in Todd, he was the son of the late Lester W. and Catharine (Heeter) Leonard. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Marshman Nov. 22, 1952, in the Thorndale United Methodist Church, Thorndale. Surviving are his wife, at home, and one daughter, Beth A. (Leonard) Boyd, Huntingdon. There are two grandchildren. Mr. Leonard joined the Methodist Church in Roaring Spring in 1936 and had been a member of the McConnellstown United Methodist Church since 1950. His church fellowship had alwavs been a vital, part of his life. He graduated from Scott Senior High School in Coatesville in 1943. He worked on the farmily farm following graduation until entering Pierce Business School in Philadelphia. He was then employed by Swigart Associates in Huntingdon from January 1950 until his retirement as an insurance underwriter in January 1988, with a two-year interruption for military service during the Korean Conflict. Since his retirement, he had been employed at the Huntingdon County Courthouse as a tipstaff. Mr. Miller was a member of the Cranbury United Methodist Church, Cranbury, N.J. He was a 1943 graduate of Petersburg High School. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater and was a member of American Legion Post 150 Petersburg. In 1953, he moved to Hightstown. N.J. and in 1962 moved to Jamesburg. He was employed as a mechanic for William McGovern & Sons Inc., North Brunswick, retiring in 1984. Previously, he was employed by Forsgate Farms, Monroe Township; Pharma Craft Labs, Hightstown and Grefco, South Brunswick. Mr. Miller, an avid square dancer, was a member of Merri- Eights Square Dance Club and Hitch 'n Squares, both of East Brunswick, N.J. He enjoyed his dog, Gizmo, and working with wood. Born March 13, 1928, in Williamsburg, he was the son of the late John and Esther (Garner) Shoemaker. He is survived by his wife, the former Oleda E. Werner, and the following children: Gloria J. Wylie, Elizabeth; William Shoemaker Jr., Sutersville; John C. Shoemaker, West Newton; Joe Shoemaker and Dean Shoemaker, both of Elizabeth Township. There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a retired chief master sergeant for the United States Air Force, where he served during World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and received numerous honors. A 1939 graduate of the Mount Union High School, he was a member of the Orrstown Lodge No. 262 F&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Valley Forest No. 145; Air Force Sergeants Association; Durff-Kuhn VFW Post No. 6168; and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post No. 223, both in Shippensburg. Mr. Estep was an avid golfer with a hole in one 13 years ago. He also enjoyed hunting. Born July 8, 1908, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Mary (Walker) Nelson. She was united in marriage to Horace S. Myers Oct. 28, 1926. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1959. Three children survive: Elmer L. Myers, Shirleysburg, R.D. 1; Mrs. Richard (Margaret E.M.) Stetler, York; and Mrs. Gerald (Lois J.) Fultz, York. There are nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. One sister, Elizabeth Goshorn of Blairs Mills RD survives. One grandson and the following brothers and sisters preceded her in death; Hilda Harper, Esther Sherrer, Walker Nelson and Jessie Nelson. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Mount Union Presbyterian Church. She was.a member of the Huntingdon County Arts Council, Mount Union Rebekah Lodge, Tuscarora Grange and the Shirleysburg Heritage Association. She organized the Society of Farm Woman in both Shirley Township and Shade Gap. For many years, she was a 4-H leader and a Republican Committeewoman. She was also chairman of the Easter Seal Society bake sale in Shirleysburgg for over 30 years. She was a former president of the Lower Huntingdon County J.C. Blair Hospital Auxiliary. A graduate of the Mount Union High School, she was a kindergarten teacher's aide in the Mount Union Area School District at Mapleton Elementary School for many years. KELLY, 77, of Circle Drive, Arbutus, Md., died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at his home in Baltimore County. Born March 23, 1923, in Buffalo Mills, he was the son of the late James W. and Elsie (McCoy) Kelly. He was married to Maedene (Swain) Kelly, who preceded him in death. He then married Miriam (Ramsey) Kelly, who is also deceased. His third wife, Ruby Caroll (Sealocio) Kelly, survives in Arbutus, Md. Also surviving are two children and two stepchildren: Judy M. Kelly, Loysburg; Rodney Kelly, Hustontown; Sandra Gladden, Eldersburg, Md.; and Ronald Rayne, Pasadena, Md. There are four step-grandsons and several step-great-grandchildren. One sister, Mabel Matlick of Cumberland, Md.. survives. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. Mr. Kelly worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamster's Union. Ward MUSSER, 78, of 247 Park St., Somerset, N.J., died May 21, 2000, in New Jersey. His death was unexpected. Born July 10, 1921, in Six Mile Run, he was the son of the late Jesse L. and Myrtle (Shuke) Musser. He married Ina Skipper, who survives at home. Also surviving are two children: Randy Musser and Joyce Phillips, both of Somerset, N.J. There are three grandchildren. One sister, Edrie Kormanski of Saxton, survives. Two sisters and one brother pre- ceded him in death. Mr. Musser was of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany and was a member of the Teamsters Union. A 1938 graduate of Broad Top High School, he retired from Eastern Express. Graveside services will be held June 10, at 3 p.m., at the Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run, R.D., with the Rev. Jesse Musser officiating. Donald Q. BERRIER, 71, of Star Route 103 South, McVeytown, died at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carole Berrier, with whom he was residing. Born Dec. 7, 1928, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Alda (College) Berrier. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise James, who preceded him in death Dec. 27, 1981. Surviving are two children: James D. Berrier, Rockhill Furnace; and Kenneth Q. Berrier, McVeytown. There are two grandchildren. The following siblings also survive: Stella Smith and Helen King, both of Kennett Square; LaRue Locke, Carlisle, Wanda Martin, Bowling Green, Ohio; and Dean Berrier and Glenn Berrier, both of Shade Gap. One grandson, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Berrier was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Huntingdon, and BPOE, also of Huntingdon. He retired in 1991 from International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 542, Harrisburg, as a heavy equipment operator. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, at the Martin R. DiJENNO, 86, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown. She was a former resident of Conshohocken for over 55 years. Born Dec. 13, 1913, in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Ettore and Gilda (Giardina) DeVecchis. She married Anthony P. DiJenno, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, John A. DiJenno of Oreland and three grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters survive: Wilson DeVecchis and Sam DeVecchis, both of Mount Union; Joseph, of the James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona; and Genevieve Schricht and Helen Mills, both of Colorado. One sister, Enis Mowen, preceded her in death. Mrs. DiJenno was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, Conshohocken. She was also a member of the Conshohocken/Plymouth Senior Center. She attended schools in Italy and was later an employee of Sharp Corp., Plymouth Township. She was primarily a homemaker. Funeral services, will be held Tuesday in Flourtown. Albert M. RUNG Jr., 77, a native of Petersburg, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. He had most recently served as chairman of Great Days Publishing in Santa Barbara, Calif. He spent most of his career working in the railroad industry. He was a principal in the Burlington and Great Northern merger in the early 1970s. The creation of Burlington Northern was, at that time, the largest corporate merger in history. After the merger, he was appointed vice president of public relations and advertising for Burlington Northern. He served in that capacity until 1978. In 1972, he received a Clio, one of advertising's most prestigious awards, for his industrial film, Portrait of a Railroad. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Albert M. Sr. and Frances (Stewart) Rung. He graduated from Harrisburg's John Harris High School in 1941. He served in the Air Force during World War II. His father was a conductor on the Pennsylvania Railroad for more than 30 years and was a noted historian in Huntingdon County. For years, Mr. Rung Sr. wrote columns outlining area history for The Daily News. He also published several books, including Rung's Chronicles of Pennsylvania History. Surviving are his wife, Rita Shaw of Santa Barbara, Calif., three sons and one daughter: Robert Rung and William Rung of Montgomery, Ill.; John Rung, Evansville, Ind.; and Constance Walker, Los Angeles, Calif. There are seven grandchildren. One sister, Gloria Freeman of Arlington, Va., survives. The family is planning a memorial service in Petersburg this summer.
