Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 1970. He had been a patient at the hospital for 19 days. He was born on February 8, 1914 at Shade Gap R.D., a son of William L. and Blanche (Starr) McMath. He was married to Clara Werner of Derry on December 30, 1939 in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Shade Valley. The Father John A. Kerkoska performed the ceremony. He is survived by his wife and the following ten children: Edward W. McMath, Baltimore, MD; Robert J. McMath, at home; Mrs. Gary (Ann Marie) Gifford, Oxon Hill, MD; Joseph M. McMath, at home; Thomas L. McMath, Orbisonia, PA; Mrs. George (Mary Louise) McCoy, New Castle, DE; Mrs. Edward (Janet) Benson, Three Springs, PA; and Theresa, Susan and Jane McMath all at home. Six grandchildren also survive. Also surviving are two brothers, Bernard McMath, Shade Gap R.D., and Samuel McMath, Shirleysburg, PA; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Shade Gap; Mrs. Marcella Fleming, Orbisonia; and Mrs. Genevieve Johnson, Bloomsburg. One brother preceded him in death. The deceased was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Shade Valley. He belonged to St. Catherine of Sienna, the Knights of Columbus, 6106 of Mt. Union, and the Shade Gap Area Fire Company. He had been a farmer and had belonged to the Pennsylvania Farmers Association, the Huntingdon County Holstein Club and the Tuscarora Valley Grange, 2042. A requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Kenneth A. Greiner will serve as celebrant. Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ott Funeral Home, Orbisonia, from 7 p.m. on Tuesday until the hour of services on Wednesday. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 8:30 at the funeral home. NOTE: Grandfather of M. Gifford
