McPherran, who died at the old homestead near Spruce Creek, on Tuesday night, was aged 74 years, 9 months and 21 days. He came of an ancestry long established in this county. His paternal grandfather, Andrew McPherran, who was born in 1753 and died in 1829, served seven years as a soldier during the American Revolution. His maternal grandfather was also a Revolutionary soldier and is buried in Sinking Valley. This was Robert Stewart, who was born in 1754 and died in 1830 [?]. His parents John and Elizabeth McPherran were married January 9, 1817, and to them were born twelve children, ten of whom have now passed away. John A. McPherran, who has just died, was never married. His surviving brothers are Stewart and Robert McPherran, both of Illinois. Mrs. W. H. Flenner, of Tyrone, is a niece of the deceased.
