Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at the United Methodist Church in Three Springs with Pastor Bonnie Ort officiating. Interment was made at Three Springs Cemetery. Born Jan. 20, 1915, at Filetto, Italy, he was a son of the late Domenico and Grazia (Facchinci) Memmi. He was married to the former Ruth H. Bascom on March 27, 1945, at Kenmore, N.Y. Mrs. Memmi survives at their home. He is survived by the following children: Grace A. Ellis, Clinton, Md.; Julie M. Berkstresser, Harrisonville; Anita R. Greenland, Three Springs; Diane L. Sekula, Newburg; Della B. McClure, York; Pamela L. Memmi, Manteo, N.C.; and Charles D. Memmi, HC73 Three Springs; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Treiste Brandt, Abel Memmi, Blanche Stinson, Dima Memmi, Anthony M. Memmi and D. Clementina Memmi, all of Chambersburg; Dina Starliper, Mercersburg; Arthur Memmi, Bristol; and Paul Memmi, Three Springs. One son, Joseph Jr., and two brothers, Linsey and Villie, preceded him in death. Mr. Memmi was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Three Springs, and the Three Springs Lions Club. He retired from United Airlines after 28 years of service as an airline mechanic at Washington National Airport and Dulles Airport. Mr. Memmi enjoyed flying very much and had his commercial pilot's license and instructor's rating. The Valley Log, Orbisonia, Pa., February 27, 2002
