Moffett, resident of Pemberton, near Union Furnace, died Tuesday afternoon, following an illness with pneumonia. John Sylvester Moffett was born on June 30, 1855. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maria Moffett, and the following sons and daughters: Emanuel Moffett and Mrs. Alice Morder, Mount Union; Mrs. Carrie Bonsell, Chambersburg; Lewis Moffett, Lewistown; Mrs. Hazel Cupp, Tyrone; Elmer Moffett, Mount Union. He is also survived by two brothers, Andrew Moffett, Mount Union and Porter Moffett, Altoona. For many years Mr. Moffett was employed at the stone quarries near Pemberton. Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Walter Harnish, pastor of the Arch Spring Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Birmingham cemetery.
