He was born in Ireland, where he was united in marriage to Miss Annie Allen, a sister of Samuel Allen of this place. Together with his wife and six children, the family came to America in the summer of 1868, and located in Huntingdon, where they have since resided. His wife preceded him to the grave 46 years ago, since which time he had made his home with his children. Mr. Moore was a farmer and contractor, and worked regularly until about seven months ago, when he became ill as a result of his advanced years. He was well known in Huntingdon and was a highly respected gentleman. He was a consistent member of the Fifteenth Street M. E. church. He is survived by three sons and four daughters as follows: Miss Mary and William Moore, at home; Mrs. Sarah, wife of George Welfley, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; John and Gilbert Moore; Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of M. J. Gernert, and Mrs. Ann, wife of David Prough, all of Huntingdon. The funeral services were conducted at his late home on Thursday afternoon at 2.30 by the Rev. John Horning, of Fourteenth street with interment in Riverview cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, October 26, 1918
