Marshall Franklin Morgan, U.S.A.F. (Ret.) of Fort Worth, passed away, Wednesday, January 16, in Plano, at the age of 87. Service: Tuesday, January 22 in the Chapel of Dickey's Funeral Home, the Rev. Wesley Hood, officiating. Burial: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Rodger E. Taylor, Bryan H. Taylor, Dustin H. Taylor, R. J. Van Houten and Michael Cousineau. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert M. King, Andy Shuler and Steven Conners. He was the son of Charles Byron and Sammie Marshall Morgan, was born January 27, 1920, in Anderson, Indiana, and was raised in Pennsylvania. Mr. Morgan was preceded by wife of 61 years, Doris Viola Roberts Morgan and will be missed by his daughters, Sandra R. and her husband Rodger E. Taylor, and Marsha F. King (AAFES); grandchildren, Bryan H. Taylor, Stacey R. Cousineau, Shelley D. King and Robert M. King; great- grandchildren, R. J. Van Houten, Isabella Cousineau, Brandon Cousineau, Morgan Focken and Dustin H. Taylor; nephew, Andy Shuler; and niece, Barbara Shuler Conners. Prior to Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the Army with an eye toward the Air Corps. After earning his wings and a commission, he served as an advanced flight instructor. Mr. Morgan was proud of the fact that none of the pilots he trained were lost in combat. Following World War II, he enlisted in the Air Force. After obtaining his second commission he enjoyed a career with Strategic Air Command and served on four continents. He served in a number of Bomb Wings and Air Force Headquarters which operated the B-36 Peacemaker, B-58 Hustler and B-52 Strato fortress, rising to Deputy Commander for Maintenance. He earned the Missileman Badge while working with the AGM-28 Hound Dog nuclear missile. Mr. Morgan was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, three Air Force Commendation Medals, two Presidential Unit Citations, three Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards, American Campaign Medal with two bronze stars and the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star, among many others. Marshall served in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class. After a thirty-two year career, during which they established thirty- nine homes, Marshall and Doris retired to Fort Worth to be close to their daughters and grandchildren. Marshall was a dedicated husband, father and officer who loved God, his family, his country and his Air Force.
