Mrs. Tena Myers, former-resident of Shirleysburg, died at 1:15 p. m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elwood Whitsel of 117 Halley Street, Mount Union. She had been in failing health for 12 years. Born in Cherry Grove, Springfield Township, on Dec. 9, 1868, she was the daughter of Andrew and Rebecca. (Swertz) Shue. She was married to John Myers on Sept. 20, 1887. Mr. Shue died several years ago. Eight children are surviving: Arthur S., William H. and Robert A. Myers, Mrs. Lillian. Price and Flora (Mrs. Calvin Mader), all of Shirleysburg; LaRue (Mrs.Charles B. Hoover), Newton Hamilton; Esther (Mrs. Elwood Whitsel) and Emma (Mrs. Arthur Cornelius), both, of Mount Union. Three sons and two -daughters preceded her in death. Others surviving are 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and the following sisters and brother: John Shue and Mrs. Rebecca Banks, both of Mount Union R. D.; Mrs. - Elizabeth Stevens, Shirleysburg; Mrs. Emma Geiselman and Mrs. Annie Myers, both of York R. D.; and .. Mrs. Myrtle Swigart, York. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Shirleysburg Methodist Church and the Missionary Bible Class. She was a kind and devoted mother and will be missed by her family and friends. A short prayer service will be held at the Elwood Whitsel home in Mount Union at l:30 p. m. Wednesday and will be followed by the funeral service in the Methodist Church in Shirleysburg at 2:30 o'clock. The services will be conducted by the Rev John A Hoover of the Shirleysburg Methodist Church and the Rev. Ellis B. Davidson of the Mount Union Methodist Church. Interment in the Barton Cemetery in Shirley Township will be directed by Ott's funeral service. Friends may call at the Whitsel home after noon on Tuesday.
