Nearhoof, age 87, of 2064 Ridge Road, Warriors Mark died Monday, March 26, 2007 at 12:35 p.m. at Epworth Manor. He was born October 7, 1919 at the family home in Warriors Mark, the son of Elmer L. and Mae Goodman Nearhoof. On May 16, 1940 at the home of the bride in Birmingham he was married to Betty Fike who preceded him in death March 5, 2004. Mr. Nearhoof is survived by two sons and a daughter: Elmer (Lynne) of Warriors Mark, Robert B. (Becky) II of the Ridge Road, Warriors Mark and Sue (Michael) Ronan of Warriors Mark and six grandchildren: Sharon (Andrew) May, Amy (Sandor) Toth, Becky (Dillon) Lawson, Andrea Ronan, Kenneth N. Nearhoof and Katie Nearhoof. Also surviving are three great- grandchildren: Eva, Clara and Riley. He was the last of his immediate family. Mr. Nearhoof was a graduate of Warriors Mark High School class of 1938. During World War II in 1940 and 1941 he was employed at Glenn L. Martin Company and from 1941 until 1943 he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a lifelong farmer and owned and operated his own dairy farm, retiring in 1984. Mr. Nearhoof was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He had served as a delegate to the Eastern Milk Producers Co-op, was a Director of the Lehigh Valley and Atlantic Dairy Co-op for a number of years. He had served as a school director for 16 years, serving on both the Warriors Mark and Tyrone Area School Boards and was president of the Tyrone board in 1963. Following his tenure on the Tyrone Area Board, he served on the Tyrone Area School Authority. He was a founding member of the Warriors Mark Fire Company in 1954. He was a member of the board of the Western PA Artificial Breeders Co-op and had served on the Administrative Board of the Warriors Mark Methodist Church. Mr. Nearhoof particularly enjoyed his family, hunting, his camp and riding on his four-wheeler. Funeral service for Robert B. Nearhoof will be Friday, March 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Mark Liller officiating. Interment will follow in Burket Cemetery.
