Born July 4, 1932, in Spruce Creek, he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Helen S. (Mayhue) Harker. Surviving are the following siblings: Jack S. Harker of Shirleysburg, Mary C. Knode of Donation, Earl L. Harker, his twin brother of Shirleysburg, Susan A. Corbin of Mapleton, Grace R. Jamison of Hollidaysburg and Sammuel W. Harker of Smithfield. Mr. Harker was of the Methodist faith. He had been self-employed with his father as a paper wood cutter and had also worked at the Huntingdon Community Center for a number of years. He enjoyed putting puzzles together, helping around the house and sitting on the porch with his family. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Edwin D. Seeley officiating. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, R.D. 1. Eric L. BAREFOOT, 46, of 4 Carriage Hill Rd., Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at 6:02 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Aug. 2, 1954, in Windber, he was the son of Carl and Shirley (Kochera) Barefoot of Greensburg. He was united in marriage to Deborah J. Miller, who survives at home. One son, Nathan Z. Barefoot survives at home. A sister, Mrs. David (Caren) Quicquaro of Greensburg, survives. Mr. Barefoot was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. A graduate of Westmont-Hilltop High School in Johnstown in 1972, he received his bachelor's degree in creative writing in 1976 from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was a stay-at-home dad. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, 525 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Peter J. Naschke officiating. Interment will be made in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Huntingdon, R.D. 3. Donald P. HOOVER, 81, of 498 Taylor Mill Rd., Belleville, died at 12:28 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Beverly Health Care-William Penn. Born Jan. 19, 1919, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Guy P. and Bertha R. (Savitts) Hoover. He was united in marriage to Bertha R. Shirk, who preceded him in death March 28, 1985. His second wife, Grace D. Mellott, preceded him in death March 23, 1999. Surviving are the following children: Larry E. Hoover, Lewistown; Mrs. Andrew (Darlis) Guthridge, Mifflinburg; William P. Hoover, Siglerville; Harold M. Hoover, Lewistown. Also surviving are five step-children: Mrs. Allen (Elaine) Harper, Tyrone; Mrs. Lester (Diane) Goss, Belleville; Mrs. Larry (Donna) Bonson, Milroy; George Mellott of Shade Gap; and William J. Mellott, Milroy. There are 13 grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three siblings survive: Christie Hoover, Lewistown; Dorothy Briggs, Huntingdon County; and Gilbert Hoover, Belleville. Mr. Hoover was employed as an auto mechanic for Big Valley Sales and Service and for Long's Garage. He was a member of the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, camping and attending the Belleville Sale Barn on Wednesdays. Funeral services will be held Satprday, Nov. 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. Kenneth W. Longfield officiating. Interment will be made in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Sara Jane BROUSE, 66, of Shade Gap, died at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at her home. She had been ill since January of this year. Born Dec. 23, 1933, at Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Mabel (Bair) Krepps. She was united in marriage to Fred Brouse, April 3, 1954, in Shade, Gap. Mr. Brouse survives at their home. Also surviving are three children, a daughter Becky Brouse of Great Cacapon, WV, and two sons, David Brouse, of Blairs Mills, and Grant Brouse of Shippensburg. Three grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Brouse was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Chaplain of the Shade Gap Area Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Shade Gap Borough Election Board and Shade Gap Area Senior Citizens. She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg after 30 years of service. She was also employed by the Wharton Insurance Agency, Mount Union. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, with the Rev. Virginia Eminhizer officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap. Zola Marie WEAVER, 88, of Tatesville, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md. Born Aug. 19, 1912, in Langdondale, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Viola Weiser. Surviving is one son, Gerald R. Johnston of Mount Airy, Md. Two stepsons, George Weaver of Tatesville and James Weaver of Six Mile Run. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ralph D. Johnston and Walter J. Weaver. Two sisters, one brother and six children also preceded her in death. She is also survived by seven sisters and four brothers, Emma Valentine of Dravosburg, Gloria Miller of Sanford, Fla., Mrs.. Dick (June) Beck of Bedford, Mrs. Richard (Pauline) Williams of Everett, Faye Nevitt of Bedford, Mrs. Lou (June) Garland of Alexandria, Mrs. Roy (Shirley) Beegle of New Enterprise, Bill Weiser of Hopewell, Sam Weiser of Langdondale, Harry Weiser ot Germany and Bobby Weiser of Gaithersburg, Md. Eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was employed for many years at the Everett Sewing Factory and the Howard Johnson Commissary in Bedford. She was a member of the Tatesville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Everett VFW Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6, with the Rev. Barbara S. Berg officiating. Interment will be made at the Wells Tannery Presbyterian Church Cemetery. David Richard KAUFFMAN, 62, of 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at 5:45 p.m., in the Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born in Union Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Charles Richard and Iva Arvada (Gregor) Kauffman. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Maria Kauffman and Becky Kay Crader, both of Bellefonte, and one granddaughter. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mary D. Summers, Waterfall; T. Duane Kauffman, Bellefonte; Gladys I. Hart, Leesburg, Va.; Amanda A. Beatty, Cleveland, Ohio; Roy A. Kauffman, Todd; Margaret L. Wolf, New Holland; and Darla D. Kauffman, Bellefonte. Several nieces and nephews survive. Mr. Kauffman was preceded in death by two brothers: Albert Rodney Kauffman in 1963, and Ronald Lee Kauffman in 1971. He retired in 1985 after over ten years of service with Cerro Metal Products Co., Bellefonte. He attended the Captain Jack High School in Mount Union and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Milesburg. He enjoyed painting craft items. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., at the Assembly of God Church, Route 220 S., Milesburg, with the Rev. Roy R. Helgerman II, officiating. Nicholas VOZNIAK, 75, of Hesston, R.D. 1, formerly of Snow Shoe died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at 12:31 p.m., at his Penn Township residence. Born Dec. 14, 1924, in Snow Shoe, Centre County, he was the son of Frank and Sophie Vozniak. Two sons, Nicholas Vozniak of Norfolk, Va., and John Vozniak, survive, along with two grandchildren. Two brothers survive. Mr. Vozniak was of the Roman Catholic faith. While a resident of Snow Shoe, he was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 1565, and Post No. 5644, VFW. He retired from the U.S. Army and was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania until his retirement. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and retired after 23 years of service as an E-7 gunnery sergeant. A Liturgy of the Word service with funeral rite will be celebrated at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Sixth and Mifflin streets, Huntingdon, Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David J. Allen YODER, 69, of 50 Water St., Allensville, died at 2:52 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born July 17, 1931, in Belleville, he was the son of the late Jacob P. and Saloma N. (Peachey) Yoder. His wife, Anna Margaret (Peachey) Yoder, whom he married Jan. 2, 1954, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Lynn (Susan) Newcomer, Emporium, Jay A. Yoder, Huntingdon RR2, Mrs. Darrel (Arlene) Byler, Allensville, and Mrs. Craig (Beth) Finkbiner, McAlisterville; sisters, S. Esther Yoder, and Barbara E. Yoder, both of Belleville, Mrs. Marvin (Anna Mary) Byler, Centerport, Mrs. James (Marian) Payne, Heathsville, Va., and Mrs. James (Rebecca) Walters, Chula Vista, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Saloma P. Yoder and brothers, John E. Yoder and J. Edwin Yoder. He retired in 1997 as an estimator in the construction department of Allensville Planing Mill after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years, an elder for 15 years, a song leader, a chorus leader, and served on the church building committee. He was also the chairman of the Allensville Municipal Authority, member and chaplain of the Allensville Fire Co., served two terms on the Valley View Retirement Community Board, and most recently served as the building inspector of the new addition of the Valley View Retirement Community. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Max Zook, the Rev. Mayard Beitzel and the Rev. Erie Renno officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Harry E. "Pat" ASKEW, 67, of Marsteller, died Nov. 5, 2000, at Miners Hospital in Hastings. Known to his friends and family as "Sut," he was born April 2, 1933, in Marsteller, a son of the late Thomas and Lillie (Patterson) Askew. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Sharon "Joy" Shelby, and daughters Mrs. Kevin (Sheri) Fowler of Hastings and Mrs. James (Tammi) Richards of Alexandria. There are four grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan; a daughter, Kimberly Ann; and brothers John "Jack" and Thomas; and sisters Eleanor Conrad, Audrey Peffer, Millie Stanavich and Lillie Norban Semelsberger. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Askew retired from the Greenwich Collieries. He was a member of UMWA Local No. 1609, Greenwich, and the Faith Assembly of God Church in Marsteller. He was also a former member of the Mosscreek Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. Friends will be received from 4 until 9 p.m. Tuesday and the Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Art McDonald will officiate. Interment will be made in the McDowell Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans' groups. Marie C. WENSEL, 77, of R.D. 4 Box 308, Huntingdon, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at 12:55 a.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Her death was unexpected. Born Jan. 31, 1923, in Sminlo, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Martin) Crofcheck. She was united in marriage to Stanley Martin Wensel Nov. 11, 1942, in Marklesburg. He preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1982. One son and one daughter survive: Stanley Martin Wensel Jr., Barree, and Carol Ann (Wensel) Weyer, Huntingdon, R.D. 1. There are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her companion of many years, Paul E. Hickes, survives. Also surviving are two brothers, George Crofcheck and Edward Crofcheck, both of Alexandria. One brother, John Crofcheck Jr., preceded her in death. Mrs. Wensel was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She was a former member of the auxiliary to the William R Spyker Post No. 520, American Legion, Alexandria, and was active with the Juniata.Valley Football Mothers and Band Mothers. She was employed by the John R. Wald Co. at its Tyrone plant for four years during World War II. She retired from Tresco Co. of Petersburg in 1995. She attended the Tyrone public schools and had lived at her current residence for 25 years. A Liturgy of the Word service with the funeral rite was held at 2 p-m. November 6 at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. Interment was made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery, Alexandria. Margaret Blanche BEARD, 83, of Pitt Street, Hustontown, and a resident of Penn Hall Nursing Home, Chambersburg since May 2000, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Penn Hall Nursing Horne. Born Aug. 5, 1917, in Glens Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Smith) Dunn. She was married to Arthur Beard Jr., who preceded her in death April 11, 1989. Two daughters, Faith Hubert of Andover, N.J., and Loretta Van Horn of Hustontown, survive, along with one grandson. One sister and one brother also survive: Jane DeVoe, Franklin, N.J., and John Dunn, Sun City, Fla. Mrs. Beard was of the Protestant faith. She was a homemaker. Private graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, N.J., with the Rev. Paul Mitchell officiating. Mary E. HOWELL, 94, of 512 Oliver Court, Belleville, formerly of Clarion and Huntingdon, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born Sept. 16, 1906, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Millard Lee and Margaret Rebecca (Franks) Haffly. Her husband, Frank J. Howell, whom she married April 8, 1933, survives. Also surviving are: children, Frank N. Howell, Huntingdon and Mrs. Wayne (Patricia Ann) Fischer, Butler; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two brothers, William Haffly and Floyd Haffly; and two sisters, Pearl Mateer and Alice Wagner. She was a 1925 graduate of Belleville High School. She was a homemaker and prior to marriage, she worked as a linotype operator at the Belleville Times. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Raymond E. SMITH Jr., 64, of rural Warriors Mark died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at home. Born Oct. 19, 1936, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Mary Breon Smith. On Aug. 16, 1963, in Warriors Mark, he married Janet E. Conrad, who died Nov. 4, 1997. He was a member of Warriors Mark Franklin Volunteer Fire Company and Cartwright Hunting Club in Warriors Mark. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by a daughter, Dixie Shultzaberger of rural Tyrone; a son, Roy E. of Tyrone; six sisters, Frances Thomas of Warriors Mark, Martha Hartsock of Chambersburg, Mildred Smith of Portage, Ruth Koser of Shippensburg, Linda Robertson of Burns, Wyo., and Mary Jane Gibson of Ashcamp, Ky.; a brother, John of Tyrone; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Seven Stars Cemetery, Franklin Township. Thomas H. FOSTER, 61, of P 0. Box 237, Dudley, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, following an extended illness. Born June 7, 1939, in North Point, Bedford County, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Buggey) Foster. He married Katherine C. Ritchey June 5, 1976. Mrs. Foster survives at home, along with a daughter, Martha Ritchey of Dudley. Also surviving are four siblings: Sandra Taylor of Riddlesburg, Diane Brown of Saxton, Reba Neville of Six Mile Run and Kenneth Buggey of Alaska. Three brothers, Robert Foster, Earl Foster and Donald Foster, preceded him in death. Mr. Foster was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley. He was active in the Cursillo movement in his church. During his life he was a self- employed house painter and enjoyed working on the church's grotto. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, Dudley, with the Rev. Patrick Leahey officiating. Interment will be made in the Ave Maria Cemetery, Dudley. Walter C. "Pops" ROGERS, 72, of 12 W. Garber St., Mount Union, died at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in the emergency room of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. His death was unexpected. Born Sept. 2, 1928, in Halifax, Va., he was the son of the late William A. and Sallie F. (Crawley) Rogers. He was united in marriage to Annie E. Cosby Sept. 9, 1979. Mrs. Rogers survives, along with the following children: Yvonne P. Dix, Dwayne L. Smith, Derrick L. Smith and Sheila A. Smith, all of Mount Union; Victor J. Smith, Ft. Hood, Texas. There are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Rogers was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He retired in 1991 after working in construction with Hawbaker's Construction Company and Fayler and Middlecreek Construction Company. Prior to that, he has been employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. A former member of the Mount Union Elks Lodge, he enjoyed fishing. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at,the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Elder James O'Bryan officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Dorothy W. SEIBERT, 88, formerly of 1322 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at 5:05. a.m., at The Oaks at Wesminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born May 20, 1912, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Ada (Clark) Wood. She was united in marriage to William F. Seibert, who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1961. She is survived by a granddaughter. One stepson, William F. Seibert Jr., preceded her in death. The last-surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Mae, Thelma and Kathryn, and two brothers, William and Wilbur. A number of nieces and nephews survive. Mrs. Seibert was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was employed by the J.C. Blair Company and later by Mead Corp., as a machine operator. She retired in 1975, with 45 years of service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Peter J. Naschke officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Lydia M. YODER, 82, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Valley View Haven. Born June 17, 1918, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Annie K. (Peachey) Zook. Her husband Jesse C. "Tinner" Yoder, died Feb. 19, 1999. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Paul (Delores) Knepp, Allensville, Anna Marinos, Lewistown, Mrs. Eugene (Judy) Heide and Mrs. John (Joyce) Yoder, both of Buhler, Kan.; sisters, Mrs. Roy (Lizzie) Yoder and Mrs. Joseph (Evalena) Zook, both of Belleville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leah Barbara Yoder on Jan. 25, 1943, and by brothers Urie H. Zook and John J. Zook. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church, and Hannah's Helpers Sunday School Class. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Allensville Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Philip Barr officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Mildred "Dolly" Arlene (Elder) McALEVY, 72, of Main Street, Porter Township, Alexandria, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at 9:40 a.m., at her Porter Township home. Born May 17, 1928, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Cora (Paris) Elder. She was united in marriage to Roy D. McAlevy Sr. Sept. 20,1947. He preceded her in death in 1993, Surviving are a son and a daughter: Roy D. "Butch" McAlevy Jr. of Alexandria and Pamela Shore of Huntingdon. There are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother and three sisters survive: Glen Elder, Reno, Nev.; Adeline Grothe, Camano Island, Seattle, Wash.; Marian Levane, Grenada Hills, Calif.; and Edith Elder, Mt. Vernon, Seattle, Wash. A number of nieces and nephews survive. Five brothers and a sister preceded her in death: David C. Elder, Frank Elder Jr., Leroy Elder, Charles Elder, Lewis Elder and Nola Kreps. Mrs. McAlevy had been employed by the J.B. Kunz Company in the production department as a paper cutting machine operator. She retired following 21 years of service. She was a charter member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 520, and a life member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company. A 1946 graduate of Franklin High School in Seattle, Wash., she moved to Juniata Valley in 1947. She was of the Lutheran faith. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with the Rev. John C. Dean officiating. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Mildred A. SHRINER, 74, of 424 Moore St., Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at 2:58 a.m., at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, where she had resided for the past two weeks. Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Ennisville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessica (Stewart) Oburn. She was first married to John S. Kauffman and later to Harry P. Shriner. Both husbands preceded her in death. Surviving are five children: John A. Kauffman, R. Dean Kauffman, Charles D. Shriner and Bonnie K. Shriner, all of Huntingdon, and Candy S. Brumbaugh, Cassville. There are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Ethel Shaaf of Lewistown and Hester Duey of Altoona, survive. Ten brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Shriner was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 220, and the ladies auxiliaries of Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, and Frank R Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, all of Huntingdon. She was employed as a waitress for 49 years, at Washington House Livery Stable and Corner Room in Huntingdon and later at Jerry's Diner on Warrior Ridge until her retirement. She attended the Stone Valley High School. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1106 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. James Thomas officiating, assisted by the Rev. Georgetta Hartley. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, R.D. 1. Emma C. "Jane" McCLAIN, 86, formerly of Cassville, recently of North Canton, Ohio, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at her home. Born Nov. 5, 1914, in Saltillo, she was a daughter of the late Miles W. and Alice (Smyers) Cornelius. She was united in marriage to Robert I. McClain Dec. 25, 1939, in Saltillo. Mr. McClain survives at home, along with a son, Myron McClain of North Canton, Ohio, and three grandchildren. Two sisters, Mildred Crum of Cassville and Ruth Hales of Venice,. Fla., survive. One daughter, Sarah Louise McClain, one brother, Ralph Cornelius, and five sisters, Mabel Cornelius, Laura Kelly, Mary Bysher, Ethel Ford and Elma Crotsley, preceded her in death. Mrs. McClain was a member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church of Saltillo, where she served many years as a church organist. She was also a member of the Huntingdon Chapter No. 159, Order of the Eastern Star, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and the Huntingdon County Retired Teachers Association. A 1932 graduate of Saltillo High School, she received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education and her master's of education from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1958. Mrs. McClain taught in the Southern Huntingdon County School District for 30 years. Box 65, Shirleysburg, died at 5:40 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at the Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. She was born Dec. 31, 1942, in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late Vernon "Wimp" and Betty (Traxler) Brumbaugh. She was united in marriage to James K. Booher April 13, 1963, in Mount Union with the Rev. Albert Haught presiding. She is survived by her husband and two daughters: Susan Fortney of Mount Union, R.R. 1, and Amy Harven of Denver. She is also survived by a sister, Brenda L. Buckley of Calvin, a brother, Vernon "Wimp" Brumbaugh of Lock Haven, two granddaughters and three grandsons. Mrs. Booher was a member of the German Valley Church of the Brethren, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. A 1961 graduate of Captain Jack High School in Mount Union, she was a certified nurse's aide, having worked at the Shirley Home in Shirleysburg and at the Woodland Retirement Center. Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will be made at the German Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. David William MILLER, 92, of Hapeville, Ga., died Nov. 8, 2000, at a nursing home in Georgia. Born Oct. 28, 1908, in Saxton, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Eliza (Detwiler) Miller. He was united in marriage to Beatrice Barron of Hapeville, Ga. She survives in Carrollton Ga. Two children, Marshall Miller of Lithia Springs, Ga., and Charles Miller of Carrollton, Ga., survive, along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brother, Lester Miller and Robert Miller, and a sister, Anna Miller, preceded him in death. Mr. Miller was a member of the Hapeville United Methodist Church. He was chosen Hapeville Man of the Year and was very active with the youth of Hapeville. He volunteered his time with the Little League, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was a charter member of the Hapeville Exchange Club, director of the Hapeville Chamber of Commerce, and served on the personnel board of the city of Hapeville. Until his retirement in 1972, he was a broadcaster for the National Weather Service. Before being transferred to the Atlanta Airport to work for the National Weather Service, he worked at the Bellefonte Airport and had the privilege of briefing Charles Lindbergh, who had stopped there for fuel. Funeral services were held today in Georgia. Madaline L. SCHWAR, 86, of Overland Park, Kan. died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at 7:30 p.m., at the Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. She was born July 9, 1914, in Tell Township, the daughter of the late and Paul and Nettie (Parsons) Kling. She was united in marriage to William T. Schwar Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. She is survived by a son, William T. Schwar Jr. of Overland Park. Also surviving is a brother, Jacob Kling of Gastonia, N.C. and a sister, Mary Metzger of Orlando, Fla. Two grandsons also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Baker, and two brothers, Calvin Kling and Paul Kling. Mrs. Schwar was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kan. She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary in Lakewood, Calif. Prior to her secretarial work, she was employed by the Sears Roebuck Company. UNGER, 65, of Mapleton, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at 11:45 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He was born Sept. 12, 1935 in Quincy Township, Franklin County, the son of the late Harry P. Unger and Zaida (Shaffer) Unger of Waynesboro, who survives. His wife, June A. Hardy survives at home. He is also survived by four children: Wanda Gearhart of Newton Hamilton, Harry P. Unger of Mapleton, Tarena Snyder of Mapleton, Michael Unger of Mapleton and a sister, Lois Baker of Cascade Md. Six grandchildren survive as well. Mr. Unger was of the Protestant faith. He was employed by the Mount Union Area School District as a bus driver until his retirement in 1998. ISENBERG, 86, of Reseda, Calif., died Oct. 28, 2000, in Reseda. Born Sept. 13, 1914, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Dide and Red Browen. She was united in marriage to Elwood "Molly" Isenberg, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Steven Isenberg of Huntingdon and Woody Isenberg of Tarzana, Calif. Nellie M. HIGGINS, 102, of Orbisonia, and a resident of the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died at 11:03 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the retirement center. Born Sept. 25, 1898, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Stubbs) Smith. She was married to Charles, E. Higgins, who preceded her in death in 1971. One son, Charles R. Higgins of Orbisonia, survives, along with a grandson and one great-grandson. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. Mrs. Higgins was a member of the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church. During World War II, she was a volunteer aircraft observer in Shirleysburg. She was primarily a homemaker. Andrew Stanley "Andy" JOHNSON Jr., 19, of Battle Ridge Road, McConnellsburg, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at the Fulton County Medical Center, as a result of an auto accident in Clay Township, Huntingdon County late Saturday night, Nov. 11. Born Nov. 26, 1980, in Mount Union, he was the son of Andrew S. Sr. and Victoria (Fields) Johnson. Surviving are his parents of Battle Ridge Road, McConnellsburg, along with two brothers and two sisters: Stanley Fields with the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany; Bobby J. Johnson, McConnellsburg; Angela Zelanko, Breezewood; and Ashley M. Johnson, McConnellsburg. One stepsister, Billie Jo Foor of Bedford, and a stepbrother, Terry Lee Johnson of McConnellsburg, survive. Mr. Johnson was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a construction worker and had been active in high school sports. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. BOOHER-RUSSLER, 73, of R.D. 2, Box 326, Oneida Township, Huntingdon, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at 1:05 a.m., at Centre Community Hospital, State College, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 7, 1927, in Biddeford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Clara (Cadorette) Demers. She was preceded in death by her first spouse, James A. Booher March 13, 1995. She married Donald E. Russier Feb. 6, 1996, in Tyrone. Mr. Russler survives at their Oneida Township home, along with the following children: Mrs. Randy (Yvonne) Fickes, Huntingdon; Yvette Booher;, Tyrone;. and Mrs. Charles (Louise Deprey) Hutchinson, Rocky Mount, N.C. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One stepson, Anthony Russler of Huntingdon, and a stepdaughter, Tabatha Russler of Mifflintown, survive. Also surviving are a sister, Irene Denett of Virginia and Roland Demers of Michigan. A son, Roger DePrey, one sister, Annette Florek, and a brother, Phillip Demers, preceded her in death. Mrs. Russier retired in 1992 as a secretary at the Juniata Valley High School, following 19 years of service. She also owned and operated the Logan House Restaurant in Petersburg from 1972-1974. She was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon. She belonged to the West End Bowling League in Tyrone and in the Holiday Bowl, Mill Creek, and the Valley Horseshoe League, Petersburg. In addition to being an avid bowler, she enjoyed playing cards. Mrs. Russler was a longtime resident of Huntingdon county. SCHADLE, 85, of 5746 Greenvillage Rd., Chambersburg, died at 8:48 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1915, in Royalton, Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late John and Elva (Kendig) Weirich. She was the widow of Francis Kelley, who died in 1945, and Warren C. Schadle, who died in 1993. She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Warren C. Schadle II, Woodbridge, Va.; John E. Schadle, Carlisle; Doris E. Kelley Rice, Mt. Joy; and Mrs. Samuel (Patricia Kelley) Mansberger, Calvin. There are 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Loman H. "Shorty" Weirich of Middletown survives, along with a number of nieces and nephews. Four sisters and six grandchildren preceded her in death. BOOHER, 81, of Box 1830, R.D. 3, Mount Union, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon, following a serious illness. Born Jan. 30,1919, in Saltillo, he was the son of the late Herman and Golda (Huffman) Booher. He was united in marriage to Carrie H. Fleck Jan. 20, 1945, in Mount Union. She preceded him in death April 6, 1999. One son, Mike G. Booher of McVeytown, R.D. 1, survives. There are nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The following brother and sisters survive: Myrtus Booher of Mill Creek, Evelyn Myers of St. Petersburg, and Eileen McIntosh, Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Booher was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Duvall and Colleen Gahagan; a sister, Anna Mae Scheeder; and a brother, Roy Booher. He retired in 1980, after 38 years of service with Harbison- Walker Refractories in Mount Union. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He loved to go to auctions, and for the last nine years he never missed his grandson's races at Hesston Speedway and Path Valley, in the mini stock division. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.D. 1. Anzinetta Mae KOUGH, 68, of Saltillo, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Jan. 8, 1932, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Milford and Clara (Mort) Wible. She was united in marriage to Max L. Kough Feb. 8, 1948, in Three Springs. Mr. Kough survives at home, along with three children: Brenda Brodbeck, Robert Kough and Thomas Kough, all of Saltillo. There are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death. Mrs. Kough was a member of the First Baptist Church in Saltillo, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and was involved with the Helping Hand Society of the church. McMATH, 97, of Orbisonia, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born April 17, 1903, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Charles 0. and Tressa (McMullen) McMath. He was married to Hazel R. McCann Nov. 27, 1938, in Jamestown. Mrs. McMath preceded him in death March 19, 1978. One son survives from a previous marriage, Calvin Fultz of Dauphin, along with two step-children: Edward McCann and Donald McCann, both of Sharon. One granddaughter and several step-grandchildren also survive, along with a number of nieces and nephews. One stepdaughter, Betty Samas, preceded him in death. Mr. McMath was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shade Gap, R.D. He was first employed at Westinghouse Corp. in Sharon. From 1948-1956, he worked for the East Broad Top Railroad and Coal Company in Rockhill Furnace, then from 1956 until 1960, he worked at the Steel Mills in Burnham. He returned to the East Broad Top in 1960 and became a conductor in 1970. His last run with the EBT was in 1999. HOMMAN, 86, a resident of the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon Valley, formerly of Bigler, died Nov. 16, 2000, at the home. Born March 11, 1914, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Headings) Miller. She was united in marriage to Chester A. Homman June 11, 1932, in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1974. Surviving are four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Ronald (Wilda) Williams, Centre Hill; Mrs. James (Beverly) Matson, Philipsburg; Mrs. David (Janice) Dunlap, Philipsburg; Mrs. Gary (Deborah) Stiner, Lanse; Harold Homman, Clearfield; Wilford Homman, Centre Hill; and Donald Homman, Bigler. There are 18 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and three brothers: Leona Taylor of Mount Union, Juliet Culp of Roaring Spring; Clayton Miller and Joseph Miller, both of Mount Union, and Chester Miller of Belleville. She was preceded in death by a son, Leon Homman, and three sisters: Gladys Miller, Alice Wilson and Effie Strausser. Mrs. Homman was a homemaker. Interment will be made in the Bigler Cemetery. Geraldine Merritts ENGLISH, 80, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Nov. 17, 2000, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Huntingdon and had resided in St. Augustine since 1946. She was a retired radio dispatcher for the Florida Department of Transportation. Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Patricia Anne Vidal of St. Augustine, Fla.; Peggy Anne Colmer, Rosinton, Ala.; William Lewis, St. Augustine, Fla.; and Ronald Merritts, Huntingdon. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday November 20 in Florida. Edward J. GERLOCK, 72, of Brick, N.J., died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000 at 9 a.m., at the Brick Hospital. Born in Mount Union, he had resided in Brick, N.J., for the past 40 years. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Mishock) Gerlock. Surviving are his wife, the former Sara Linthurst, one son and two daughters: Daniel Gerlock of Maybrook, N.Y.; Nancy Rodino, Scotch Plains, N.J.; and Jody Gerlock of Brick, N.J. There are five grandchildren. One brother and three sisters survive: A. Stephen Gerlock, Brick; Ann Dwozan, Ormond Beach, Fla.; Margaret Bell, Lewistown; and Betty Ellen Gerlock, Mount Union. Mr. Gerlock was a guidance counselor at Point Pleasant Beach High School for 25 years, retiring in 1985. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1952, he received a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University and a master's degree in 1959 from Penn State University. LEIDY, 37, of R.R. 4, Box 223, Huntingdon, Smithfield Township, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at her home. Born April 17, 1963, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Manuel Aponte of McConnellstown and the late Betty J. (Traxler) Aponte. She was united in marriage to Neal C. Leidy, who survives at their home. Also surviving are two children, John Clark Jr. of Alexandria, R.D. 1, and Theresea Clark, at home. Four sisters survive: Joann Davis of Mount Union, Tammy Hearn of McConnellstown, Mandy Stevens of Kistler, and Mary Aponte of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Leidy attended the church at the Salvation Army in Huntingdon. She was a member of the Home League of the Salvation Army and the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. She was employed as a secretary in the offices of U.S. Sports in Smithfield Township and most recently worked as a clerk at Puff 'N' Snuff in the Ames Plaza in. Huntingdon. Glenn Albert MAGILL, 75, of R.D. 1, Box 19, Huntingdon, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at 12:31 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. His death was unexpected. Born Oct. 12, 1925, in Duncansville, he was the son of the late Albert and Bertha (Haller) Magill. He was married to Eleanor R. Gentry Oct. 1, 1949, in Hollidaysburg, with the Rev. Joseph G. Rigby officiating. Mrs. Magill survives at home, along with the following children: David Glenn Magill of Bedford, Stephen Robert Magill and Kevin Lee Magill, both of Huntingdon, Barbara Kay Stapleton of McConnellstown and Dennis Scott Magill of Huntingdon. There are nine grandchildren. One grandson preceded him in death. One brother and two sisters survive: Raymond Magill of Duncansville, Edna Stitt of Howard and Louise Mort of Keymar, Md. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Magill was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in McConnellstown. He was a member of Portage Lodge No. 220 F&AM; Valley of Altoona AASR; Jaffa Temple AAONMS, where he served with the Temple Ushers. He also belonged to the Huntingdon County Shrine Club; was a former member of the Woodcock Valley Lions Club; life member of Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW; and member of Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion. He was also a former member of the Huntingdon Country Club. Mr. Magill was the former owner and operator of Huntingdon Country Garden Market, retiring in 1989. Previously he was produce manager at Reeves-Parvin of Huntingdon and was a former partner of Midway Produce Market in Duncansville. He was educated in the Hollidaysburg public schools and was a 1943 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations aboard an LST as a quartermaster. He had lived at his current residence since 1960. He enjoyed golf and hunting. Kristina Ann (Johnson) LIDSTON, 30, of Lambs Mill Road, Naples, Maine, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at 11:12 a.m., at Bridgton Hospital in Bridgton, Maine, as a result of a single vehicle accident. Born Sept. 18, 1970, in Dover, Del., she was the daughter of Robert C. Sr. and Arlene (Escola) Johnson of Miller Township, Huntingdon. She was united in marriage to David Malcolm Lidston. Mr. Lidston survives at home, along with two sons and a daughter: David Nathaniel Lidston, Charli Ann Lidston and William Arthur Lidston, all at home. A maternal grandmother, Laurena Escola of Bakersfield, Calif., and a paternal grandmother, Olive Rahn of Cape Coral, Fla., survive. Two sisters and one brother survive: Pamela Harris of Deltona, Fla.; Robert C. Johnson Jr., Bay Minette, Ala.; and Heidi L. Johnson, Portland, Ore. Mrs. Lidston was a firm believer and a child of Christ. She was employed as a registered nurse by the Fryeburg Health Care Center in Fryeburg, Maine. She attended Huntingdon Area High School with the Class of 1988 and was a graduate of Hesston College in Hesston, Kan. She had lived at her current residence for four years and enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities and tending to animals with her family. Anthony Wayne LOCKE, 87, of R.R. 1, Box 90, Shirleysburg, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at the Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Sept. 3, 1913, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Chester and Nora (Cree) Locke. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret E. Copenhaver, whom he married Aug. 29, 1936, in the parsonage of the United Brethren Church, Orbisonia. One son, Ronald Wayne Locke of Shirleysburg , R.R. 1, survives, along with a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. One sister, Helen Warren, preceded him in death. Mr. Locke had been employed for a number of years at the Silica Brickyard in Mount Union and later at H.T. Reynolds of Huntingdon. He retired in 1978 from Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, after 15 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served at the Panama Canal. He was a member of the former Mt. Anthony GAMLY Sr., 79, of Raystown Road, Riddlesburg, died Nov. 22, 2000, at his home. His death was unexpected. Born Oct. 29, 1921, in Jenners Crossroad, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna (Timchak) Gamly. He was united in marriage to Florence "Lola" Krupa Horton, who preceded him in death in 1992. One son, Anthony Gamly Jr. of Cypher, survives, along with one grandson and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Priscilla A. Brode, preceded him in death, along with one grandson and three brothers: John, Paul and Theodore. Mr. Gamly was of the Protestant faith. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the 77th Infantry Division in Signal Corps. He earned five Bronze Stars. Mr. Gamly was a member of the Hopewell VFW and owned and onerated a barbershop in Windber for ten years. In 1956, he opened Tony's Bar in Riddlesburg and remained its owner and operator until his death. In the 1960s, he formed a band, Tony and the Mustangs. He enjoyed bluegrass music, played the fiddle and the guitar and performed vocals. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m., at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor Todd Templeton officiating. Interment will be made in the Grandview Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. George M. COLEMAN Jr., 80, of Raystown Road, Hopewell, died Nov. 23, 2000, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. Born March 8, 1920, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late George M. Sr. and Sophia G. (Bates) Coleman. He was united in marriage to Margie K. Keifman, who survives. One son, Gary Coleman of Baltimore, Md., survives, along with two grandchildren. Mr. Coleman was of the Lutheran faith. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ionic Lodge No. 145, in Maryland, and a local VFW organization. He was employed as a salesman. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m., at the D. Lila Mae FORSYTHE, 94, formerly of Newton Hamilton, and a resident of Marlborough, Conn. for the past nine years, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at the Marlborough Health Care Facility in Marlborough, Conn. She had been in failing health. Born March 16, 1906, in Harbor Springs, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Will and Ethel (Foote) Stanton. She married the Rev. David L. Forsythe Sept. 11, 1937, in Cicero, Ill. He preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1988. Two sons, the Rev. Jonathon Forsythe of Braintree, Mass., and the Rev. Dr. Paul Forsythe of Mesa, Ariz., survive. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two brothers, Harry Stanton and Lawrence Stanton, and a sister, Carrie Cassel, preceded her in death. While residing in Newton Hamilton, Mrs. Forsythe was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, founded by her husband in 1961. She was also associated with the Bible to Youth Camp in Licking Creek for 32 years, until her husband's death. He had been the camp director. Mrs. Forsythe also served as secretary for the Bible to Youth Crusade since its formation in Williamsburg in 1946. She was an expert seamstress. CHERRY, 87, formerly of 603 14th St., Huntingdon, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at 2:35 a.m. at the Huntingdon Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born Oct. 4, 1913, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Chester J. and Sarah (White) Cherry. He was united in marriage to the former Edna M. Cox on March 6, 1940. Mrs. Cherry survives at their residence Surviving is one daughter, Barbara C. Keith of Huntingdon and one sister, Mary Louise Cherry of Altoona. One grandson preceded him in death. He. was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 976 and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 223. Mr. Cherry was educated in the public schools of the Altoona Area. He retired from Penelec in 1975 and also worked as a salesman for Armur's of Altoona. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. There will be no public viewing or visitation and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of family. Interment will be at the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Mary Belle PRICE, 89, formerly of Three Springs, R.D., died at 12:57 a.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been residing. Born Jan. 19, 1911, at Blairs Mills, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Lottie (Hyde) Crowe. She was united in marriage to Allen S. Price, Sept. 24, 1936 at Nossville. Mr. Price preceded her in death November 1987. One daughter survives, Mrs.Paul (Lena) Smith of Three Springs, RR. Also surviving is one grandson. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by one son, James; two daughters, Martha and Helen; two brothers, Emory And Woodrow; one sister, Annie Crow; and one granddaughter. SEIG, 60, of HCR 83, Shade Gap, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at his home. Born Jan. 25, 1940, in Lancaster, he was the son of Chester T. Seig Sr., and the late Gladys (Erb) Seig. Mr. Seig of Pequea survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Rose Good and Donna Griffin, both of Lancaster and Lori Seig of Kentucky. There are grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. THOMPSON, 83, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, formerly of 5862 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at 12:15 p.m., at Chambersburg Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1917, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Beulah M. (Jones) Snively. She was united in marriage to Warren Thompson, who preceded her in death May 20, 1989. CLARK, 88, of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at his home. Born Oct. 11, 1912, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Walter J. and Mary Ioma (Chilcoat) Clark. He was united in marriage to Virginia M. Bookwalter Oct. 1, 1937, in Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Clark preceded him in death March 2, 1993. Surviving are three children: Walter H. Clark of HCR 7 1, Orbisonia, and Gary J. Clark and Kenneth C. Clark, both of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. There are ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings: Grace Stapleton of Hollidaysburg, Eva Happle of Orbisonia and Robert C. Born December 17, 1913, he was the son of the late John and Myrtle Shively. He was united in marriage to Alice Johnson in 1940, and she preceded him in death April 14, 1965. One daughter, Sharon L. Dick of Petersburg, survives, along with two nieces and a nephew, three grandsons and two great-grandsons. One daughter, Cindy Lou Stiver, preceded him in death May 5, 1953. Mr. Stiver retired from Howe Leather Co. in Curwensville, after many years of service. He was active in his community and served as chairman of the Curwensville Days Parade Committee for many years. He was also the manager of the Curwensville baseball team. He was a member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Company, where he was president for 13 years; Clearfield County Firemen's Association; Central District Firemen's Association and the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Fire Police. Harry H. WHITSEL, 71, of Three Springs, R.R. 1, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 11, 1929, in Mapleton, he was a son of the late Herbert and Merla (Lane) Whitsel. He was united in marriage to Sandra J. Hann April 1, 1961, in Buford, S.C. Mrs. Whitsel, survives at home, along with four children: Michele Painter of Greencastle, Sue Wilson of Camp Hill, Stephanie Smith of Rockhill, and Thomas R Whitsel of Three Springs, R.R. 1. There are 11 grandchildren. Five siblings also survive: Ethel Brown of Mattawana, James Whitsel of Shippensburg, Ernest Whitsel of Chambersburg, Catherine Stout of Mifflintown, and Ronald Whitsel of Three Springs, R.R. 1. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Whitsel was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, after six years of service. Box 266, Mapleton, died at 6:27 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, following a brief illness. Born May 7, 1951, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Eva (Linn) Williams, who reside in Germany Valley, Mount Union, R.D. 1. Also surviving are three children: Charles E. Ernest, Mapleton; Joseph Norman Ernest, Kistler; and Carrie Elizabeth Ernest of Mapleton, attending Penn State University. There are five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Mount Union Area High School, class of 1969, and attended Shippensburg University. She was currently employed as an office manager at Bleyer Industries, Mount Union, where she worked for a number of years. She was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed gardening and taking care of her pets. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. Born March 1, 1926, in Baltimore, Md., she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Clark, who preceded her in death. Surviving are six children: Sandy Clark of California, Paul Clark of Baltimore, Md., George Bausman of Baltimore, Md., Bill Bausman of California, Arthur Clark Jr., Shade Gap, and Sarah Miller, Blairs Mills. Born in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Clair and Anna Steele of Echo Glen, Huntingdon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June, and two daughters: Judith Ann Squire of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Christine Baker of Palm City, Fla. There are three grandchildren. During World War II, Mr. Steel served in the U.S. Army and spent time in Germany in the Army of Occupation. He also served during the Korean Conflict. A 1940 graduate of Huntingdon High School, he worked at The Daily News advertising department after graduation. He later moved to Florida and worked for a newspaper there. After retirement, he moved to Port St. Lucie. A memorial service was held at the St. Lucie Gardens Clubhouse. Interment was made in the Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Miami, Fla. Sara Elizabeth (Feagley) PARKS, 83, of 510 DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at 9:20 a.m., at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late H.O. and Ida (Creswell) Feagley. She was united in marriage to Neal Laroy Parks Sr. Aug. 13, 1938, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Parks preceded her in death in September 1967. One son and one daughter survive: Vicki L. (Parks) Morder and Neal Laroy Parks Jr., both of Huntingdon. There are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother also survive: Vivian Lang of Allegheny Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg, Helen Mentzer, of Huntingdon and Dr. H.O. Feagley, Smithfield, Huntingdon. Mrs. Parks attended the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. Educated in the Huntingdon public schools, she was primarily a homemaker. She had been a resident of Huntingdon County since birth and had lived at her current residence since 1992. She enjoyed reading mysteries, playing bingo, traveling and solving word puzzles. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Larry G. GARNER, 59, of 899 Branch St., Saxton, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at 2:11 p.m., at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. His death was unexpected. Born Aug. 24, 1941, in Robertsdale, he was the son of the late Lewis and Doris (Myers) Garner. His former wife, Linda Jenkins, survives in Langdondale. Two daughters, Beth Ann Miller of Langdondale and Tammy K. Fox of Six Mile Run survive, along with five grandchildren. Mr. Garner was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was of the Protestant faith. A 1959 graduate of Robertsdale High School, he was employed by Claudia Sportswear in Wood. He was also a coal miner for 12 years. KIMMEL, 102, of 4749 Flatridge Road, Mouth of Wilson, Va., formerly of 510 Fifth St., Huntingdon, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at 2 a.m., at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, Va. She had been in good health until November 2000. Born May 5, 1898, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late LaFeyette and Nellie M. (Tempelton) Bush. She was united in marriage to Charles B. Kimmel Nov. 6, 1919, in Altoona. Mr. Kimmel preceded her in death July 11, 1980. One son, C. Richard Kimmel of Mouth of Wilson, Va., survives, along with two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Robert Bush and Harold Bush, both of Altoona, survive. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Kimmel was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. She was a member of the Order of Amaranth, Juniata Valley Court No. 121, and auxiliary to the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntingdon. LONG, 87, formerly of Orbisonia and for the past four years a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the retirement center. He had been in failing health. Born Nov. 28, 1913, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Ray E. and Ella (Grove) Long. He is survived by four children: Sandra A. Ergler, Orbisonia; Edgar E. Long, Lakeland, Fla.; William R. Long, Atlanta, Ga.; and Sharon K. Lamar, Bradenton, Fla. There are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lester M. Long of Martinsburg, and Kenneth J. Long of Raleigh, N.C., survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred T. Long and Harold R. Long. Mr. Long attended the Rockhill Church of the Brethren. A 1932 graduate of Mount Union High School, he owned a building supplies business in Orbisonia for 17 years. He also worked as a building contractor in Florida for 15 years. He retired from the Mount Union Borough after 13 years, as a building official and code enforcement officer. He also served as code enforcement officer for Shirley Township and Smithfield Township for several years. Mr. Long was a charter member of the Orbisonia Lions Club; life member of Huntingdon BPO Elks Lodge No. 976; a member of Mount Union Lodge No. 677, IOOF since 1938; and a member of AARP and the Orbisonia-Rockhill Sportsmen's Association. He served four years on the Orbisonia Borough Council, ten years on the Orbisonia School Board and served as president and secretary of the Orbisonia-Rockhill Volunteer Fire Company for a number of years. LEONARD Jr., 29, of Polecat Hollow Road, Huntingdon, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at 11:57 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born April 14, 1971, in Huntingdon, he was the son of George F. Sr. and Shirley L. (Miller) Leonard, who survive at Polecat Hollow Road, HCR 1, Huntingdon. He married Cherie L. Hamilton Dec. 15, 1990, in Petersburg. Mrs. Leonard survives at home. One son and one daughter survive: Cody L. Leonard and Julie L. Leonard. Also surviving are his paternal grandmother, Vera Leonard of Lebanon and maternal grandmother, Beatrice Miller of Huntingdon. A maternal grandfather, Floyd H. Miller Jr., preceded him in death. One brother and one sister survive: David Leonard of Mount Union and Dawn Rigney of Waynesburg. Mr. Leonard was a member of the Mapleton Sportsman Club, American Legion Memorial Home Association, Post No. 322, Mapleton, and Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company. He was employed as a pipe layer by HRI, Inc., State College. Educated in the public schools of Mapleton and Mount Union, he was a 1990 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. He had been a resident of Huntingdon County his entire life. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed car racing, and coached youth wrestling in the Mount Union area. SLATES Sr., 91, of Irwin, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in Greensburg. Born May 11, 1909, in Three Springs, he was a son of the late Elmer James and Nancy Jane (Hess) Slates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Louise Z. Bowser. Surviving are a son, Kenneth D. Slates Jr., of Hollywood, Fla., and a daughter, Mrs. David (Nancy S.) Gosser, Greensburg. There are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Benjamin, Fred, Clarence, Howard and Homer. Mr. Slates was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Irwin. He also belonged to Shidle Lodge No. 601, F&AM, and the West Hempfield Senior Citizens. He was a retired engineer for Union Railroad (U.S. Steel). Funeral services were held in Irwin and interment was made in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Frances (Shelly) KING, 93, of 160 Aspen Lane, Apt. 304, Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at 1:35 p.m., at George Washington University Hospital, Washington, D.C. Her death was sudden, following a brief illness. Born April 8, 1907, in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Snively and Grace (Workman) Shelly. She was united in marriage to Samuel Joshua King in 1933, in Williamsburg, with the Rev. Levi Ziegler officiating. Mr. King preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1964. Two sons and one daughter survive: Robert Bruce King, Athens, Ga.; Alan Shelly King, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Ann (King) Layman, New Orleans, La. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Martha Odell and Elizabeth Pettibone, preceded her in death. Mrs. King was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. Until 1937, she was a home economics teacher in Schwenksville and Reading. She attended Drexel University and graduated from Juniata College with a bachelor of science degree in 1929. Mrs. King had been a resident of Huntingdon County since 1965, when she returned from Rochester, N.H., following the death of her husband. She had lived at her current residence since 1998. Hazel Mary (Johnson) McCACHREN, 96, of the Valley View Nursing Home in Altoona, previously of Bellmeade Manor, Altoona and formerly of Huntingdon and Altoona, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at 1:15 a.m., at Valley View Nursing Home, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 25, 1905, in Morgantown, WV, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Johnson. She was first married to Silas A. Eckenrode, who preceded her in death. She then married Edward L. McCachren in 1956, in Columbus, Ohio. He preceded her in death July 24, 1981. Surviving are step-children from her first union, Dorothy Lindburgh, and from her second union, Edward L. McCachren Jr., Kenneth McCachren, Patty McCachren and Shirley McCachren. She was preceded in death by two step-children, Richard McCachren and Ann Pelkan. Her companion, John E. States, also preceded her in death. Mrs. McCachren was a member of the First Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona and was a past member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens. She worked part-time at Grubb's Diner and Motel. She retired as a cleaning lady in 1970 from the Huntingdon Machine Shop. She was educated in the Morgantown, W.Va., public schools. She had been a resident of Huntingdon County since 1970. A graveside funeral service will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tenth Street, Altoona, Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jeffrey Hite officiating.
