Union, died at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She has been in failing health. Born March 13, 1930, in Mt. Union, the daughter of the late James and Connie (Newman) Rogers. She was twice married, first, to Henry J. Easter; then to John E, Thompson Nov. 24, 1967, at Mt. hope parsonage, Mt. Union, by the Rev. E.W, Jarrett. She is survived by her husband; one son, Henry J. Easter Jr. of Harrisburg; two daughters, Yvonne Friend and her husband, Raymond, of Philadelphia, and La-Verna Fountain, and her husband, James, of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Andrew, Raymond, Jerome and Monica; four stepgrandchildren, James, Rashann, Walter and Vern; and three great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive; Barbara Cherry, and her husband, Alfred, of Hempstead, N.Y.; La-Wanda Mae Brown of Arlington, Va.; Ralph Rogers of Queen, N.Y.; James Rogers of Harrisburg; and Allen Rogers, and his wife, Helen, of Mt. Union. She also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-and sister-in-law and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerome Easter; and grandson, Henry; and the following brothers and sisters; Jane Madison, Bernice Sadler, Doris Love, Matril Chatman and Marjorie Rogers. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Mt. Union, where she served as deaconess and choir member. She was also a charter member and treasurer of the Mt. Hope Gospel Chorus and a charter member and treasurer of the Huntingdon County Chorus. She was a member of Eastern Star Memorial Chapter No. 58, Mt. Union; the Daughters of Elks Pocahontas Temple, Mt. Union; and was a former chaplain for the Elks. She was last employed by Servicemaster of Altoona. Prior to that, she was employed by Head Start and for 12 years at Elco, Huntingdon, eight years at L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing, Mt. Union, and three years at Robin Footwear, Mt. Union. She will be remembered for caring for the sick and shut-ins and someone who was a confidante, friend and helper to anyone in need. Funeral services will be held at 1 p,m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Mt. Union, with Pastor Steve Motter officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. 1. Anna E. OVERMEYER, 78, of Bent Tree Drive, Lancaster, died Saturday morning Nov. 1, 2003, at Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lancaster, Following a two- month illness. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George M. and Cora Huber Bissert. She was twice married, first to Leo E. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1967; then to Vincent E. Overmeyer who preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by two daughters. Doris A. (Bissert) Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., and Eleanor "Ellie" M. Shirk, and her husband, Stephen R., of East Petersburg; a son, Leo Robert Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; three stepdaughters, Lucille M. Keller, and her husband, Edward, of Wrightsville, Patricia J. Overmeyer of Bethesda, Md., and Jean H. Overmeyer, and her husband, Allen Schroering, of Perrysburg, Ohio. a stepson, Robert Edward Overmeyer of Severn; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bissert, and sister, Ruth Segal. Mrs. Overmeyer was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Robertstown. She was a member of the St. Leo Stitch Group, the Friendship Club and Rosebud Quilters of Mt. Union. She was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary of the Columbia Council No. 2294. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed reading, sewing and opera. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 121 S. WHITESEL, 56, R.R. 5, Box 275, Tyrone, Tipton area, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2003, at Altoona Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1947, in Altoona, he was the son of Dorothy I. (McClellan) Whitesel of Tipton and the late Andrew C, Whitesel. He was united in marriage to Cathy E. Briggs March 18, 1972, at Tipton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; a son, Nicholas A. Whitesel at home, and his fiancee, Becky S. Crotsley, and her children, Joshua and Ashley Young; His mother; and his Mother-in-law, Virginia Briggs. He is survived by a sister, Cheryl L. Hinkle and her husband, Timothy C., and their son, Andrew, all of Tipton; his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dec. 2, 1998. Mr. Whitesel was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church. He was a member of Communication Workers of America. Mr. Whitesel was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed as a splicing technician at Verizon Communication for the past 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, working on trucks. riding his motorcycle and the outdoors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Jon C. Russin Funeral home, Bellwood, with the Rev. HARPER, 78, of 222 Hartzler Drive, Belleville, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born Sept. 18, 1925, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Margaret (Troutwein) McCall. She was united in marriage to William A. "Bill" Harper July 22, 1957, in Pleasant Gap. She is survived by her husband at home, and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister. Louise Guyer, in 1988. Mrs. Harper was a member of Ennisville United Methodist Church for 64 years, She served as church organist for 62 years. She was member of the TGIR Club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Huntingdon for 12 years. Mrs. Harper graduated from Stone Valley High School with the Class of 1942. She retired in 1988 as head cook at Jackson-Miller Elementary School with 26 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Ennisville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joleen Willis Officiating. Interment will be made in Mooresville Cemetery. Cloyd B. PADEN, 75, of Trella St., Belleville, died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown. Born Oct. 17, 1928, in Ickesburg, he was the son of the late Ralph M. and Agnes T. (Shearer) Paden. He is survived by his companion, Bertha L. Dippery; a son, Rodney Paden of Corona, Ariz.; and two sisters and one brother; Mrs. Theodore (Jane) Couch of McAlevys Fort, Thomas G. Paden of Belleville and Mrs. Albert (Barbara) Wilson of Belleville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Paden, a sister, Mary Kreager, and an infant sister, Donna Paden. Mr. Paden was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville. He was a member of Stroup-Alexander Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5935, Belleville; American Legion Milroy Post, McVeytown; Lodge No. 376 F&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest No. 88; and Elks Lodge No. 1600, Boalsburg. Mr. Paden was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was employed by New Holland as a truck driver for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He also drove for Boring Transport and Joe Peachey Sawmill and served as a taxi Driver for area Amish. Private interment will be made in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. Sandra (Love) BARTOLA, 60, of 1202 wall St., Saxton, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. Born Oct. 14, 1943, in Robertsdale, she was the daughter of Naomi R. (Walters) Love of Conway, S.C. and the late Harold E. Love. She was united in marriage to Philip B, Bartola April 10, 1965. She is survived by her husband; mother; two daughters, Kristi Martin of Cresson and Lisa Baer of Huntingdon; two sons, Phillip Bartola II, and Ryan Bartola, both of Saxton, She is also survived by four grandchildren; Brandt Baer, Braedon Baer, Noah Martin and Hannah Martin. A sister, Barbara Love of Conway, S.C. survives. She was preceded in death by her father and an infant brother, Tommy Love. Mrs. Bartola was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington Street Extension, Dudley. She was a 1961 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School She was employed as a clerk at Bowser's Rexall Drugs, Saxton. Committal will be made in Ave Marie Cemetery, Dudley. Jenevieve E. "Jenny" SUDERS, 85, formerly of Allenport, Mt. Union, R.R. 1, went home to be with the Lord at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been residing. Born Feb. 4, 1918, in Allenport, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Rooher) Drake. She was united in marriage to Elmer Guy Suders Dec. 24, 1936, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Suders preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1970. She is survived by one son, James Suders of Hesston; two daughters, Gail Port of Mt. Union and Sonja Ambrosino of Allenport, Mt. Union, R.R. 1; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Martha Ross of McVeytown, R.R. 1, and two brothers, Fern Drake of Lancaster and Earl Drake of HCR, Orbisonia, survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lawanda White; a son, Earl Eugene Suder; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Roy Drake; and three sisters; Freda Krugh, Mary Alesi and Hazel Ingram. Mrs. Suders was a member of Orbisonia Church of the Brethren. She retired in 1982 from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, after 36 years of service. Union, with the Rev. Stephen Motter officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Union Cemetery. Freda Ann (McClain) ROHER, 84, of Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Saltillo, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003. She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Trough Creek, the daughter of the late Miles R. and Freda (Senft) McClain, and was reared by her grandparents, the late Boyer and Fannie Senft. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, John E. "Buckie" Roher. She is survived by a son, John Emory Roher, and his wife, Connie, of Seville, Ohio; a daughter, Ann McClain Roher of Akron, Ohio; two granddaughters; Chrystal Roher of Rittman and Melissa Maurer, and her husband, Jeff, of Wadsworth, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren; Christopher and Jason Young and Kristen and Justin Maurer. She is also survived by a half-sister, Eileen Spotts, and her husband, Dave, of Pine Grove Mills and a number of extended family members. Mrs. Roher was a member of the First Baptist Church, Saltillo, where she was a member of the Marry and Join Us Club and the Helping Hands Society, She was also a member of First Christian Church, Wadsworth, Ohio, where she served many years as secretary of the Martha Circle and as secretary and treasurer for the Adult Bible Study Class. At First Christian Church, she played piano weekly in the harmonist class and for various church programs. Mrs. Roher was devoted to her family and loved music, a good sale, her flower garden, hand-knit clothes and the color purple. She also adored her Persian cat, Purples. A well-known citizen of Wadsworth, Ohio, she had resided there since 1950. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Gillman Funeral Home, Singleton and Martha Everhard officiating. Interment will be made in Saltillo Cemetery. Helen Beatrice (Kemp) KELLER, known as "Nanny" and "Aunt Honey," 77, of 278 Standing Stone Ave., Huntingdon, died at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at her residence. She had been in failing health for the past four and one-half years. Born July 30, 1926, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Donald Francis and Sarah Elizabeth (Wilson) Kemp. She was united in marriage to W. Francis Keller July 30, 1947, at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, by the Revs. Manges and Sharp. She is survived by her husband of 56 years at home and one daughter, Carolyn Ann Payne of Brookville. She is survived by four grandchildren, Robert Anthony Payne, and his wife, Jennifer (Eberle), of Alexandria; Melanie Ann Hawn, and her husband, John, of Petersburg; Nicholas Antony Payne of Huntingdon; and Joshua Aaron Payne, and his wife, Maria (Watts), of Petersburg, Nine great-grandchildren survive; Kyle Andrew Payne, Colin Anthony Payne, Rachael Addison Payne, Lauren Alizabeth Payne, Gretchen Annsley Payne, John Rober Hawn II, Ian Michael Anthony Hawn, Evan Kristopher Hawn and Maelyn Cora Payne. One Sister, Martha K. Hefright of Huntingdon, and one brother, William Kemp of Lakemont, Altoona, survive, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters; Francis W. Kemp, Raymond Kemp, Dorothy Ann (Kemp) MacNamara and Grace (Kemp) Thompson. Mrs. Keller was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, where she was a former member of the church choir and Lutheran Church Woman and was a former Luther League leader. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon. She attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1946. She was primarily a homemaker, having previously worked as an usher at the Clifton Theater, Huntingdon; as a buyer of J.C. Penney Co.; as a clerk at Mister Donut, Huntingdon; and as a snack bar clerk/cashier at J.C.Blair Memorial Hospital for seven years. She also served as a majority clerk with the election board for first ward, Huntingdon. She loved baby-sitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and greatly enjoyed baking pies, cookies and whoopie pies and giving her baked goods to family and friends, especially during the holidays. She also loved flowers and enjoyed reading. She had resided at her Standing Stone Avenue home since 1956. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St. Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Peter J. Naschke officiating. Interment will be made in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Jon David SMITH, 31, of 625 Sixth St., Huntingdon, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at his residence. Born Dec. 1, 1971, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Donald Robert Smith of Alexandria and Mary Ellen (Skipper) McCartney of Portage. He is survived by his parents; his grandmother, Edna Mae Smith of Mt. Union; three sisters; Mrs. Karl (Carmella) Vickroy of Portage, Mrs. Clay (Donna) Holland of Mill Creek and Cheyenne Smith of Alexandria; and three brothers; James Smith, and his wife, Trudy of Mapleton, Brian Smith, and his wife, Cindy, of Huntingdon and Jason Bailey of State College. He is survived by his companion, Sharon Sneath of Huntingdon, Two step-sons, Derrick and Cody Brown of Huntingdon, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Robert Smith Jr. Mr. Smith had been employed by the J. E. Culbertson Co. of Mill Creek for a number of years. He was a 1989 graduate of Mt. Union Area High School. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and loved to fish in the Juniata River. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, with Pastor Gary Bates officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Mapleton. Janice DEEGAN, 68, of Texas, died Nov. 4, 2003, in Houston Texas. She was born July 3, 1935, in Burnham, a daughter of the late William Kenneth and Dorothy (Steininger) Hummel. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dennis Deegan; and following children, Beth Markiewicz, and her husband, Thomas, and their children, Kelly and Jennifer; Melissa Crawford, and her husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Jessica and Sarah; and Christopher Deegan, and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Lauren and Daniel; and numerous other family members and friends. Mrs. Deegan was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Sugar Land Garden Club. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School and after choosing a nursing career over a scholarship to Julliard School of Music, she attended Polyclinic Nursing School. Mrs. Ceegan will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, "Grammy," caregiver, gardener and entertainer, and for her love of animals. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7. at Christ United Methodist Church, Sugar Land, Texas. Elsie B. ISENBERG, a resident of the Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, and formerly of 808 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at the Oaks. She had been in failing health for the past year. She was born in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late William F. and Annie (Huffman) Bowman. She was united in marriage to Donald H. Isenberg who preceded her in death May 23, 1991. She is survived by a nephew, David R. Elzey of Wilmington, Del., and one niece, Mary Ann Corbin of Huntingdon. She is also survived by three grandnieces; Cynthia Emhoff, Susan Andreas and Sister Patricia Corbin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Elzey and Edith Gallagher Mrs. Isenberg was of the Protestant faith. She attended Huntingdon public schools and was a graduate of Huntingdon High School. After 42 years of service with the J.C. Blair Co. and Western Tablet, she retired from Mead Products in 1972. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and shopping. There will be no public viewing or visitation. (Querry) KANN, 95, a resident of Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, since 1999, and formerly of 108 S. 11th St., Huntingdon, died at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor. Born May 26, 1908, in Saxton, she was the daughter of the late Irvin M. and Susan Alice (Russell) Querry. She was twice married, first to Howard L. Daubert Sr., who preceded her in death; then to Alfred Nelson Kann July 18, 1949, in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Kann preceded her in death May 28, 1972. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Edna F. Daubert of Saulsburg; three step-grandchildren; Nancy M. Rinehart of Petersburg. R.R. 1, Gary Grove of McVeytown and Howard Grove of Huntingdon, R.R, 2; eight great-step-grandchildren; and eight great-great-step-grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law, Betty Querry of Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon County, and Mae Querry of Huntingdon, survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard L. Daubert Jr. Dec. 26, 1998, and two brothers, Charles M. Querry and William M. Querry. Mrs. Kann was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon. She was a former member of Standing Stone Senior Citizens, Huntingdon. She attended Huntingdon County public schools and worked for a number of years at Strickler's Dairy as a soda fountain attendant. Mrs. Kann enjoyed playing bingo. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Ray H. SHEAFFER, 62, of 328 Pinoak Drive, Franklin, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Jamison Hospital in New Castle. Born April 30, 1941, in Ickesburg, he was the son of Violet L. "Vi" ( Orris) Sheaffer of Franklin and the late Lester E. Sheaffer. Be is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Sheaffer of Pittsburgh; a special friend, Patsy L. Brode of Zelinople; and two sisters, Donna F. Sheaffer of Franklin and Mrs. Vincent (Rhonda A.) Trentini of Cocoa, Fla. Mr. Sheaffer was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Huntingdon. He was a member of Hebron Lodge No. 575 F&AM, Consistry of Valley of New Castle; the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania; and the Faternal Order of Police. Mr. Sheaffer was a Vietnam Conflct veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He retired in 1992 from 25 Years as a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper. He owned a 1940 red Chevy street rod and enjoyed going to local street rod shows. He also enjoyed golf. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 in Franklin. Interment was made in Franklin Cemetery. Charles Edgar WHITTAKER, 91, formerly of Huntingdon, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, in Denver, Colo., where he had been residing. Born March 29, 1912, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Edgar Bruce and Anna (Huyette) Whittaker. he was united in marriage to Louise Strutzel. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Elizabeth Hogsett of Denver, Colo., and Patricia Anne Walker of San Diego, Calif.; Two granddaughters. Stacey Seaton of Denver, Colo. and Danae Hawbaker of San Diego, Calif.; and one sister, Betty Coblentz of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his companion, Frances Quinn of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald F. Whittaker and Robert B. Whittaker, both of whom had resided in Huntingdon, and one sister, Catherine Whittaker. Mr. Whittaker was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon. For many years he was involved in the activities of the Huntingdon Lions Club. He formed the Huntingdon Horseman's Association and built the first show ring. He and his daughter, Judy, attended many horse shows and often returned with blue ribbons. He enjoyed reminiscing about the narrow escapes with his horse, Irish Luck, during transportation on the highways. He attended school in Smithfield and Huntingdon. His family moved to Hartslog Valley in 1930 to old Andrew Neff home, built in 1862 by Mr. Whittaker's great-grandfather. As a young man he accompanied his father, a contractor, to many job sites and helped install the tower clock at Juniata College. He farmed for some years before forming Whittaker Associates construction company with his brother, Robert. Together, they built steel buildings throughout the state. In later years, he lived in Denver, Colo., near his daughter, Judy, and her husband, Frank. He made frequent trips to Huntingdon County to visit friends and family his last being October 2003 for a party in his honor. A memorial service will be held at a later date May B. (Bonsell) GINGERICH, 75, a resident of Valley View Home, Altoona, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. Born July 11, 1928, in Thomastown, Snyder Twp. Blair County, she was the daughter of Edward R. and Anna (Husak) Bonsell. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Gingerich Jan, 5, 1951. Mr. Gingerich preceded her in death May 12, 1990. She is survived by one son, Robert Kenneth Gingerich of Williamsburg, and three brothers, Gerald E. Bonsell of Tyrone, Milton E. Bonsell of Philadelphia and Richard H. Bonsell of Louisville, Ky. She was born March 9, 1915, at Williamsburg, R.R, 1, the daughter of the late Cecil McKinley and Myra E. (Lower) Reigh. She was united in marriage to Herman L. White Feb. 7, 1942, in Winchester, Va. She is survived by her husband at home; two sons, Ned W. White of Huntingdon and James R. White and his wife, Susan, of Julian; and one daughter, Jane (White) Croyle, and her husband, Guy, of Petersburg. She is survived by six grandchildren; Kimberley Halsey, and her husband, Michael; Michael White, and his wife, LaTrenda; Rebecca Dammers, and her husband, Richard; Benjamin White, and his wife, Allison; Katherine Croyle; and Stephen Croyle, and his wife, Andrea; and six great-grandchildren. Born Sept. 15, 1935, in Ironsville, Tyrone, R.R. 4, he was the son of the late George and Ethel (Lear) Miller. Born Oct. 21, 1928, in Coalmont, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Kauffman. She was united in marriage July 32, 1948, to George Watson who preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1981. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Standing Stone Senior Citizens. She served as judge of elections in Penn Twp. for may years, when voting took place in her living room. She also served on the operating committee when the Huntingdon Area School District was formed and when the current high school was built. She graduated from Altoona High School with the Class of 1937. Mrs. Hoover was appointed leave replacement as the Hesston Post Office June 1, 1944 and was made officer in charge March 12, 1971. She had been in failing health. Born Sept. 27, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Jachowicz) Semla. She was united in marriage to Gerald S. Moffett July 6, 1935, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mt. Union. Mr. Moffett preceded her in death March 20, 1991. He is also survived by two sisters, Pauline (Scialabba) Mills of Mt. Union and Patricia (Scialabba) Marshall of Bethlehem, and a brother, Richard W. "Dick" Scialabba of Huntingdon. Mr. Scialabba attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lancaster. He was a member of the Huntingdon Rotary Club and a former member of the Huntingdon Area School Board. He served as mayor of Huntingdon Borough from 1988 to 1992. Mr. Scialabba graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1948 and attended Juniata College. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and served in Germany during the Korean War. He retired as personnel manager at Elco Corp. in Huntingdon. He previously worked for 25 years at Huston Motor Co. and at Prismo Safety Corp., both of Huntingdon. He received a heart transplant at Hershey Medical Center and was the longest survivor of a transplant from the hospital, living 18 years after the operation. He moved to Lancaster from Sumter, S.C., in April to be closer to his children. A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, with the Rev. JOHNSON, 90, a resident of the Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Saxton and Wisconsin, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Village at Morrisons Cove. Born Jan. 13, 1913, in Dry Lake, N.D., she was the daughter of the late William L. and Emily (Goodwill) Kline. She was united in marriage to Elwood I. Johnson March 4, 1943, in Minnesota. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death in September 1983. She is survived by the following children; Gail Aivazian, and her husband, Barkey, of Fresno, Calif.; Enid Miller, and her husband, Alan, of Saxton, R,R,; Ariel Cheslak, and her husband, Stanley, of Duluth, Minn.; and Gary Johnson of Hayward, Wis. He attended Huntingdon public schools, graduating from Huntingdon Area High School in 1963. Mr. Cassatt was employed in the construction trades for his entire career. For the past seven years, he was employed as a masonry supervisor for Operation Outward Reach, serving the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. He was a avid sport fan, particularly Huntingdon Area High School Bearcat football. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John F. and Elizabeth (McEvoy) Sherick. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle M. (Dell) Sherick, formerly of Saltillo. During the war, he flew 35 missions as a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator and earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Medal and four Bronze Stars. Dorothy Marie (Williams) HARKLEROAD, 86, formerly of Mapleton, and a resident of Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia since 1999, died at 12:22 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Woodland. She had been in failing health. Born April 7, 1917, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Williams. She was united in marriage to Nathan H. Harkleroad Sr. March 8, 1946, in Maryland. Mr. Harkleroad preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1990. She is survived by the following children; John Harkleroad and Blair Harkleroad, both of Mapleton; Glenn Harkleroad of Mt. Born Feb. 8, 1978, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Alice (Neuder) Swope of Robertsdale and the late Martin Swope. Mr. Swope was working toward his baptism with the Saxton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a 1996 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School. Jesse Allen GETIC, 81, of Penn Twp., Hesston, died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. He had been in failing health for the past several months. Born May 1, 1922, in Hopewell Twp., Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Michael and Annie (Savitts) Getic. He was united in marriage to Helen Williams Feb. 14, 1946, at the parsonage of Pastor Monte Widner in West Plains, Mo. He is survived by his wife at home; a daughter, Mrs. C. Robert (Lois F.) Brenneman of Greencastle; a son, Roy A, Getic, and his wife, Kathy, of Huntingdon; and a foster daughter, Mrs. Richard (Emma) Wagner of Mt. Union. Seven grandchildren survive; Lori Stadler, Sherry Spangler, Michael Brenneman, Derek Getic, Cortney Getic, Dawn Leonard and Teresa Holland, as well as six great-grandchildren; Allison Stadler, Kaitlin Stadler, Elizabeth Stadler, Brittany Spangler, Brady Spangler and Landon Getic. Mr. Getic was a member of the James Creek Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Co. He attended public schools in Hopewell Twp. He enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Meade, Md., Sept. 26, 1942, and was discharged at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reserve Jan. 8, 1946. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 78th Medical Battalion in Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe as a heavy truck driver. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Medal. Mr. Getic has been employed by New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. for 37 and one-half years. He retired in 1984 as a supervisor at the former McConnellstown plant. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he had resided at his Penn Twp. home for the past 47 years. Frank Norris of Huntingdon; Jane Davis of Camp Hill; Helen Lang of Huntingdon; and Dorothy Wible of Spartansburg. She was preceded in death by two grandsons; Three brothers; Fred Norris, Robert Norris and Richard Norris, who died in his infancy; and sister, Mary Appleby. Mrs. Strait was a member of Valley View Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Piney Ridge, Huntingdon, R.R. 3, where she had formerly been a nursery attendant for many years. She attended Huntingdon public schools and worked as a school bus driver for the Huntingdon Area School District for several years. She later worked for the Arrow Shirt Factory, Huntingdon, and retired as a clerk from Laney's Feed Mill, Huntingdon. Mrs. Strait enjoyed gardening, bird watching, embroidering and spending time with her family. HOWELL, 69, of 2915 Morning Hills Road, Huntingdon, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at his residence, He had been in failing health for the past several months. Born May 20, 1934, in Belleville, he was the son of Frank J. Howell of Belleville and the late Mary H. (Haffley) Howell. He was twice married; first to Gladys Kurtz June 4, 1955. She preceded him in death Sept. 17, 1970. On April 28, 1989, he was united in marriage to Cathy Wagner. He is survived by his wife at home; one son, David N. Howell, and his wife, Cynthia, of Spanish Fort, Ala.; and four daughters; Susan H. Lunsford, and her husband, Brad, of St. College; Christa M. Neal of Huntingdon; Carrie D. Rainey of Huntingdon; and Cathryn E. Rainey of Huntingdon. Five grandchildren survive; Ryan Lunsford and Madison H. Lunsford, both of St. College; Sarah G. Howell of Spanish Fort, Ala.; and Brianna C. Neal and Kevin D. Neal, both of Huntingdon. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Patricia A.) Fischer of Butler; a niece, Mary Jean Ernst; and a nephew, Kirk W. Fischer. He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. Mr. Howell was a lifelong member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, where he was a former Sunday School teacher. He was a charter member of the Huntingdon Jaycees; a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association; served as a Pennsylvania Game Commission Hunter-Trapper Education instructor; and served on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportmans Hall of Fame Sept. 19, 1998. Mr. Howell attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1952. He attended Williamsport Technical Institute (presently known as the Pennsylvania College of Technology) from 1952 until 1954 when he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the United States Naval Reserves aboard the USS New Jersey and the USS Antietam. He worked for Strickler's Dairy and A&P Market, both of Huntingdon. He was a draftsman at Prismo Safety Corp. in Huntingdon and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas Jan. 1, 1990, after 34 years as fabrication dept. manager. Mr. Howell was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed winemaking, woodworking and gardening. Lois Jean BEDNARIK, 73, of Dover Road, Boardman, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2003, at her home following a 15-month battle with cancer. Born Aug. 29, 1930, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Jacob and Golda B. (Duffy) Goss. She moved to Ohio in 1953 and on Feb. 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Bednarik. She is survived by her husband of nearly 46 years; two sisters; June Goss of Mill Creek and Audrey Flanigan of Huntingdon; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Goss of Huntingdon and Lydia Lockhart of Poland, Ohio. She is also survived by many nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews and a very special niece, Erma Jean Lanzio. She was preceded in death by five brothers; Frank, George, Charles, Don and Dick, and three sisters, Orma, Margaret and Ann. Mrs. Bednarik was of the Methodist faith. She was employed as a sales clerk at Savadow's in Huntingdon while in high school. After graduating in June 1948, she was employed by Bell Telephone in Hollidaysburg for six and one-half years. She was later employed at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Youngstown, Ohio, as an inspector for 35 years, retiring in Sept. 1988. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, gardening and especially bingo. She loved traveling with her husband and spent nearly every winter in Florida after her retirement. Ida Rae ROSENBERGER, 92, a resident of the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003. Born Nov. 26. 1910, in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of Keturah Hays and Norman Elmer Neiderhiser. She was united in marriage to Clarence H. Rosenberger, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Rosenberger of Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Bryan Rosenberger of Pittsburgh, and Bruce Rosenberger of Greenville, Ohio; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Rosenberger was a member of Greenville church of the Brethren. She graduated from Juniata College in 1934 and was certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to teach English, French and mathematics. A secondary school teacher, she taught at Hurst High School in Mt. Pleasant from 1934 to 1938. She coached students in English at Juniata College from 1954 to 1956 and taught in the Huntingdon school system from 1957 to 1969. She taught at Penn Manor High School, Millersville, from 1970 until her retirement in 1973. While residing in Huntingdon, her husband served as pastor of the Stone Church of the Brethren. ERWIN, 82, of Blacklog Valley, Orbisonia, died at 12:50 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 11, 1921, at Valley Point, Shirley Twp., the son of the late Samuel and Ada Mary (Hochstetler) Erwin. Me married Martena Belle (Gabert) Erwin, Aug. 7, 1940, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Erwin preceded him in death Feb. 27, 1985. Five Children survive; Paul Erwin, and his wife, Marcia, of Shirleysburg, R.R.; Wanda Palmer of Virginia Beach, Va.; Dale Erwin, and his wife, Sandy, of HCR 1, Calvin; Rosalene Booher, and her husband, Philip, of Three Springs, R.R. 1; and Connie Smith, and her husband, Philip, of Mt. Union. He is survived by 16 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and six step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, two great-grandsons, a sister, Ethel Fultz, a brother, Charles Erwin, and an infant sister, Susan. During his life time, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Wright Construction Co. He spent most of his life farming, cutting paperwood and saw milling, while also employed for 25 years with East Broad Top Railroad, Orbisonia, where he retired in 1984. "Snowball" BREON, 93, formerly of DeForrest Apts., Huntingdon, died at noon Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon, where he had resided since June 18, 2002. Born Oct. 15, 1910, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late James E. and Sarah (Hazzard) Breon. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by three sisters; Rosie Elizabeth Prough, Julia Linn and Emma J. Brosick. Mr. Breon was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church, Huntingdon, R.R. 4. During his life he had been employed as a security guard at the Huntingdon Radiator Works; as a cook at the Penn Alto Hotel in Altoona; and as a sawyer in the Trough Creek area. LONGENECKER, 79, of 229 Chilcote Hollow Road, Huntingdon, died at 9:48 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in the emergency room at J.C.Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born June 25, 1924, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John and Hulda (Kurtz) Longenecker. He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Wilt, Sept. 30, 1950, at Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Kauffman. He is survived by his wife at home; one daughter, Mr. Robert (Debra Longenecker) Garman of Petersburg, R.R. 2; and one grandson, James Garman of Petersburg, R.R. 2. A sister, Sally Corcelius of Belleville, survives. He was preceded in death by four brothers. John, Charles, Wendell and Eugene, and one sister, Jane Walters. Mr. Longenecker attended Stone Church of the Brethren in Huntingdon. He was a member of the BPOE Lodge No. 976. Huntingdon; Alexandria American Legion; Shavers Creek Grange; the Pennsylvania Trapper's Association; and the National Trapper's Association. He attended Petersburg High School and graduated from Juniata Valley high School. A United States Air Force veteran, he served during World War II and received specialized training in Detroit, Mich., on radial engines and later served as a navigator on B-24's. He was employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon, retiring from quality control in 1977 with 39 years of service. Mr. Longenecker was an avid hunter and trapper and also enjoyed gardening. EVANS, 68, of Beverly Healthcare-Hillview, Altoona, formerly of Royer, Williamsburg, R.R. 2, died Friday morning, Nov. 21, 2003, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital, Altoona, following a brief illness. Born Nov. 18, 1935, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Myrtle E. (Layue) Haupt Locke. She was united in marriage to Liwellyn C. Evans Dec. 28, 1956, in Martinsburg. Donald J. MILLER, 69, of Juniata Twp., Huntingdon, died at 5:50 a.m., Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He had been in failing health for the past year. He was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Hawestone, Mifflin County, the son of the late Vanaldo and Lillia (Sayers) Miller. He was united in marriage to Georgia Williams September, 2002, in Ocean City, Md. Mrs. Miller survives at their Juniata Twp. residence. He is survived by one son, Doug Miller, and his wife, Kelly, of Mapleton; two grandchildren, Natalie Miller of Mapleton and Brandi Miller of Mt. Union; and two great-grandchildren, Kirstie Miller and Brooke Shields both of Mt. Union. He is survived by one brother, Richard Miller. A sister, Evelyn Anderson, preceded him in death. Mr. Miller was of the Protestant faith. He was a 1952 graduate of Captain Jack Joint High School in Mt. Union. He served from 1953-1956, in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of corporal. During his career, he was employed by Hershey Foods, Hershey, for 30 years, retiring in 1993, at which time he moved to the Raystown area. He enjoyed visiting Civil War Historical sites and was a Civil War buff. He also enjoyed NASCAR Motorsports and was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a boater who enjoyed Raystown Lake. Luella Jeannette (Carlson) DEMOISE, 95, of Penn Knoll Village, Everett, and formerly of Colonial Courtyard in Bedford and Saxton and Robertsdale, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at PennKnoll Village. Born Jan. 15, 1908, in Mt. Iron, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Carl and Christine (Eklund) Carlson. She was united in marriage to Robert M. Demoise in Munising, Mich., March 18, 1927. He is preceded her in death April 18, 1963. She is survived by daughters Margaret Belle Lawrence, Middletown, Christine Ann Huff, Saxton; and Lois Jean, wife of James Lynn of Saxton; and by 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. A brother, Robert Carlson of Limestone, Mich., and a sister, Lois Davis of Holland, Mich, survive, as do a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters; Lawrence Carlson, Richard Carlson, William Carlson, Betty Carlson and Pauline Burley. Mrs. Demoise was a member of the Broad Top Church of the Nazarene for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher and president of the Women's Missionary Society. She attended the Saxton Brethren in Christ Church and the Saxton First Church of God, teaching Sunday School at both. She was a member of the Lebanon Valley Holiness Association. For several years she was a member of the Little Valley Homemakers and also the Broad Top Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, reading her Bible, Crocheting, sewing and crossword puzzles. Margaret (Fields) MASON, 91, of 491 Country Club Road, Mt. Union, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her home following a long illness. Born June 21, 1912, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Lyde (Gearhart) Fields. She was twice married. Her first husband, Glenn H. Shaffer of Mt. Union, preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1944, when he was killed in action in Germany while serving with the United States Army Air Corps. She was united in marriage to Charles Robert Mason March 22, 1951, at the First Methodist Church in Williamsport by the Rev. Cecil Weimer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years at home; a son, Captain William R. Mason, USN, of Fairfax, Va., and his wife, Margaret; a granddaughter, Meghan; and a grandson, Michael. Mrs Mason was a member of Presbyterian churches in both Mt. Union, and Georgetown, Del., where she served as Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was also a member of the Georgetown Order of Eastern Star. She graduated from Mt. Union High School in 1929 and from Juniata College in 1933. She furthered her education at Penn State University, Western Maryland College and the University of Delaware. She taught school for 40 years, serving at Newton Hamilton Elementary School, Captain Jack High School in Mt. Union. Sussex Central Senior High School in Georgetown, Del., and at Mt. Union Area High School. She taught a variety of subjects, including Latin, English and social studies. Mrs. Mason pursued many interests. Early in her life she played tennis and golf; later, her interests included homemaking, caring for her flowers and plants, serving, reading, caring for pets and concern for domestic and international affairs. She was an avid sports fan. A private memorial service is planned. John Robin WORKMAN, 61, formerly of Carmichaels and most recently of Newton Hamilton, died at 8:32 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 26, 1941, in Everett, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Miller) Workman. He was united in marriage to Katherine Koast Aug. 19, 1962. Mrs. Workman preceded him in death June 19, 2001. He is survived by one son, Robert Charles Workman, and his wife, Gina, of Oak Hill, W. Va.; one daughter, Robin Kathleen Maines, and her husband, Robert, of Mt. Union; and three grandchildren; Kolten Robert Workman, John Robert Maines and Sara Katherine Maines. Interment will be made in Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown. Clifford F. "Mac" McELRATH Jr., 49, of R.R. 1, Box 295, Mapleton, died unexpectedly at 8:44 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at his home. Born March 27, 1954, in McKees Rocks, he was the son of Clifford F. McElrath Sr. of Pittsburgh and the late Helen (Stone) McElrath. He is survived by two brothers and one sister: Doug McElrath, and his wife, Debbie, of Baldwin; Nancy Babor, and her husband, Steve, of Norfolk, Va.; and Edward McElrath of Pittsburgh; and four nieces and nephews. Mr. McElrath was of the Methodist faith. He graduated from West Mifflin High School in 1972 and from Penn State University in 1976 with a degree in agricultural science education. He was in his 27th year of teaching at Mt. Union Area High School as an agricultural science instructor. "Mr. Mac," as he was known by his students, was a devoted educator in the agricultural sciences. He served as adviser for the Captain Jack FFA Chapter and as adviser for the Mt. Union Area High School Square Dance Team. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Education; the National Association of Agricultural Education; and the Jack's Mountain Lions Club, where he was past treasurer and secretary. He also was a member of the Southwest Regional Dairy Show Committee. He served on the Huntingdon County Fair Board and on the Junior Livestock Committee, in charge of the stockman contest, tractor drive and youth exhibits in Johnson Hall, and helped with many livestock exhibits. A devoted firefighter, Mr. McElrath was a life member of the Mapleton Fire Co. and served the company as fire chief and treasurer for several years. He was also a member of the Central District Firemen's Association and helped coordinate the fire school trainings. DICK, 64, of Star Route, Huntingdon, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at his home in Union Twp., Huntingdon County. Born Aug. 31, 1939, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Walter and Nellie (Bennett) Dick. He was united in marriage to the former Marguerite McCarty Nov. 30, 1963, in Huntingdon. He is survived by his wife at home; four sons and one daughter; Dames Dick, Michael Dick and Thomas Dick, all of Star route, Huntingdon; Joseph Dick of Shirleysburg; and April Dick of Petersburg; and one granddaughter, Samantha Dick of Petersburg. WEAVER, 87, a resident of Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, and formerly of Saxton, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the retirement center. Born Dec. 10, 1916, in Saxton, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Mary E. (Boose) Weaver. She is survived by a niece, Shelby (Weaver) Shoemaker, who was reared in Ms. Weaver's home. Three brothers survive; Jack B. Weaver and Donald E. Weaver, both of Saxton, and Preston G. Weaver of Bedford, R.R. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cloyd Weaver, Sheldon Weaver and William Weaver Jr., and an infant sister. Ms. Weaver was a member of the Saxton First Church of God, where she had perfect Sunday School attendance for over 50 years. She was a member of the Chapter No. 161 Order of Eastern Star, Saxton. She had been employed by Dr. Charles Barton as a dental assistant and secretary for many years. She also worked at other local Saxton businesses. Alma Marie (Brumbaugh) MILLER, 92, a resident of Homewood Retirement Center since 1995, Martinsburg, and formerly of McConnellstown, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the retirement center. Born May 22, 1911, in Roaring Spring, she was the daughter of Jason and Jenny Mae (Russell) Brumbaugh. She was united in marriage to Ernest U. Miller Sr. June 3, 1937, at the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Simon Peter Early. She was preceded in death by her husband July 31, 2002. She is survived by one son, Ernest U. Miller Jr., and his wife, Ada, of Huntingdon, R.R. 1; one daughter, Linda M. Shultz, and her husband, Don, of Alexandria, R.R.; and two granddaughters, Julie A. Martin, and her husband, David, of Altoona, and Tricia M. Griffin, and her husband, Dave, of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Kiser, and twin brothers. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren, the Riddlesburg Church of the Brethren and , most recently, Trinity United Church of Christ in McConnellstown. She was a 1929 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and a 1930 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. From 1930 to 1936, she was employed at the Bankbook Co. in Roaring Spring. She and her husband were proprietors of a grocery store in Riddlesburg from 1937 to 1943; then, from 1943 to 1982, the couple operated Miller's Food Square in McConnellstown, She also served as postmaster in McConnellstown from 1963 until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Miller was a devoted to her husband, children and granddaughters. She loved the Lord and served Him throughout her life, faithfully reading her Bible, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp., Huntingdon, R.R. 1. Annie J. DUBETZ, 92, of HCR 1, Cassville, died at 10:43 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at her home in Todd Twp. Born Sept. 17, 1911, at Broad Top she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Wilkins) Cook. She was united in marriage to John S. Dubetz May 10, 1941. Mr. Dubetz preceded her in death August 16, 1976. Two daughters, Julia Ann Post and her husband, Mike, of Wrightsville, and Margaret Irene Morningstar and her husband, Ken, of HCR 1, Cassville, and a son, Robert Stephen Dubetz and his wife, Mary Kay, of Cassville, survive. Two grandchildren, Michael E. Post Jr. of New York, N.Y., and Bobbi Jo Bland and her husband, Matt, of Holtwood, and a great-granddaughter, Mara Grace Bland of Holtwood, also survive. Her sister, Mrs. Donald (Beatrice) Zimmerman of Newport survives. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Cook, and two sister, Mary Hooper and Harriet Blasko. Mrs. Dubetz attended the Trough Creek United Methodist Church, Todd, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Trough Creek Valley Fire Co., Pennsylvania State Grange, Trough Creek Valley 50 Plus Club and an associate member of the United Mine Workers of America. During her lifetime she was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking and preparing meals for family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Interment will be made in Cassville cemetary. Ned E. PORT, 93, 1325 Oneida St., Huntingdon, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at his residence. Born March 4, 1910, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late George Chalmer and Mary Beatrice (Wills) Port. She was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Tip" Watson Oct. 27, 1938, in Hollidaysburg. His wife preceded him in death Oct. 17, 1995. He is survived by 15 nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Port, and four sisters, Rachel Scholes, Edith Kauffman, Jane Shingler and Dorothy Davis. Mr. Port was a 1928 graduate of Huntingdon High School. A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army in the European Theater. He was captured by the German army and held prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Valley Rural Electric in 1975. Mr. Port was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County. Private graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Thelma M. CUNNINGHAM, 72, of 426 Third Ave., Altoona, died at 4:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. Born Dec. 17, 1930, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Charles Dysard Sr. and Alice M. Bradley. She was reared by her step-mother Alma Dysard who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Michael E. Cunningham of Altoona; and two daughters, Patricia A. Kondash, and her husband, John V., of Johnstown and Bonnie L. Kelley, and her husband, Randy S., of Altoona. Eight grandchildren survive; Lance Cpl. Kenneth Leonard III, Veronica A. Morgan, Lance Cpl. Kellen Leonard, Bradley E. Cunningham, Christopher W. Cunningham, Bethany Kelley, Jordan Kelley and Sara Kelley. A sister, Edna Brosius of Huntingdon, survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Duane Cunningham, a sister, Verna Cunningham, and a brother, Charles Dysard, Jr. Ms. Cunningham was a member of the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School and was employed as a nurses aide and seamstress at Valley View Home. Following her retirement, she was a senior companion with Blair Senior Services, Ins. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, quilting and canning foods. Entombment will be made in Blair Memorial Park, Altoona. Esther Marie GLUNT, 87, of HCR 75, Shade Gap, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born Oct. 1, 1916, in Shade Gap, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C, and Mary (Appleby) Murphy. She was united in marriage to Willis P. Glunt Jan. 23, 1934. Mr. Glunt preceded her in death Dec. 11. 1990. She is survived by 10 children: Dale Glunt of Shade Gap; L. Edward Glunt of Fayetteville; Wendell Glunt of Shade Gap; Loyd Glunt of Fayetteville; Clifford Glunt of McConnellsburg; Leriwyn Glunt of McConnellsburg; Darrel Glunt of Orbisonia; Charlene Mitchell of Enola; Marlene Stull of Gettysburg; and Glenda Varner of Lewistown. She is also survived by 37 grand-children, 48 great- grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna; a son, Galen; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings: William Murphy, Merril Murphy, Warren Murphy, Leo Murphy, Dean Murphy, Erma Jaymes, Dessie Hampton, Naomi McCartney, Alda Snyder and Wilma Webb. Mrs. Glunt was a charter member of the Shade Gap Bible Church, Shade Gap. She was a member of the Shade Gap Golden Agers. Internent will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap. Chester A. "Chetty" HALL Jr., 34, of P.O. Box 2003, Dudley, died at l:34 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. Born Aug. 20, 1969, in Roaring Spring, he was the son of Chester A. Hall Sr. and Shirley (Melius) Hall of Saxton. He is survived by his parents; a grandmother, Geraldine Nolder of York; His companion, Billie Jo Leroy; and a daughter, Erica. He is also survived by one sister, Christine Lux, and her husband, Shane, of Defiance; two brothers, William Hanley, and his wife, CC, of Greencastle, and Mark Hall, and his wife, Shelia, of Saxton: and an aunt, Vixie Dixon of Saxton, as well as a number of nieces. nephews, aunts and uncles. Mr. Hall was a 1987 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School where he was involved in Numerous activities. He was formerly involved with the Saxton Volunteer Fire Co. Junior Firemen. KNODE, 77, of 140 Ann St. Saxton, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Altoona Hospital Altoona, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 21, 1926, in Marklesburg, he was the son of the late Anthony B. and Bkanche (Corbin) Knode. He was united in marriage to Wanda G. Spencer Jan. 7, 1945, at the Saxton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife at home; a daughter, Mina Brode, and her husband, Terry, of Camp Hill; a son, George S. Knode, and his wife, Rhonda (Carbaugh), of Saxton; two grandsons, Eric and Aaron; and two Great- grandchildren. Matthew and Emily. A brother, Harry Knode of York, survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Knode. Mr. Knode was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees for many years. He was a life member of Lincoln Grange and received his 50 year pin in April 2003. He attended both Huntingdon High School and Saxton-Liberty High School. He retired in 1988 from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., where he worked as a heavy equipment and drag line operator for 40 years. He was a member of New Enterprise's Quarter Century Club. Mr. Knode enjoyed Hunting, woodcutting and doing mechanical work in his garage. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Saxton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Todd Templeton officiating. John H. CHESTER, 71, of 3996 E. Main St., Belleville, died at 1:22 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at his home. Born Jan. 18, 1932, in Lewistown, he was son of John H. Chester who preceded him in death March 12, 1936, and Margaret (McCellan) Chester, who preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1989. He was united in marriage to Edna Smith Aug. 12. 1956. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Sue Burian, and her husband, Carl, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a son, John F. Chester, and his wife, Denise, of Belleville; and two grandsons, Matthew Chester and Jonathon Chester. A brother, H. Samuel Chester of Reedsville, survives. Mr. Chester was a member of VFW Post No. 5935, Belleville; former scout master for Boy Scout Troop No. 3, Belleville; served with the Union Township Fire Police and the Belleville Fire Co.; and was a previous member of the Lewistown Elks where he served a pianist. He was a 1951 graduate of Lewistown High School. From December 1952 until November 1954, he served in the United Stated Army as a sergeant. He served during the Korean Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one star, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Commendation Ribbon with metal pendant. He retired in 1993 from New Holland with 36 years of service. He was currently employed at Donsco Inc., Bellville, and had previously worked at Lewistown Florist and at Flowers and Such in Belleville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belleville, with the Revs. Larry Siikanen, Cliff Miller and Rosalie Smith officiating. Interment will be made in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
