Born in Philadelphia Oct. 30, 1932, he was the son of James I. and Mary (Murphy) Bark. He was united in marriage to Dolores T. Seguin March 3, 1951. She preceded him in death Dec. 29,1999. He is survived by six daughters and two sons; Theresa Showers of Petersburg, Deb Hoffmaster and Donna Yantz, both of Alexandria, Jeannie Boyd of Petersb RD, James J. Bark Jr. of Alexandna, Joanne J. Thompson of Huntingdon, R.R., and Jack Bark and Colleen Johnson, both of Alexandria. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Barbara Rivello, Jerry Bark and Janice Malseed, all of Philadelphia, and Bobby Bark of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerard; two brothers, Ronald and Jack; and one sister, Carol Ann."Jimmy Soo" was a brilliant Philadelphia lightweight of the 1950s. His amateur career was marked by championships in the Philadelphia Diamond Belt and the Chicago (Kenosha News) Golden Gloves. While serving with the Special Services in the United States Army, he won the Fifth Army featherweight crown and the All-Army crown, followed by the All-Services featherweight title, and in an early televised showdown, defeated the featherweight champion of the Canadian Army for the International featherweight amateur title. Upon his discharge from the Army, Jimmy turned professional asthe longest string of victo?ries without a defeat of any professional fighter of his time. His career culminated in a world class ranking of No.6 among Junior Welterweights. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame approximately 10 years ago, an honor he richly deserved. A family man, Jimmy held a number of jobs to ensure a steady income. Among them, he was a bartender for a number of Philadelphia pubs, drove a delivery truck for Highway Express and owned and operated a neighborhood tavern. In the late 1960s, he moved his family to central Pennsylvania and was employed in Milesburg by General Housing Industries. For several years, he drove a truck for Applied Sciences, State College. He retired to his Mooresville home in the late, 1980s. Interment in Mooresville Cemetery. Lee HENNESSEY, 69, of 203 Saxton died Monday Oct. 6, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born Oct. 6, 1934, in Broad Top City, he was the son of the late Porter and Della (Black) Hennessey. He was united in marriage to Joanne. He is survived by his wife; three daughters Lee Ann Mock of Saxton Cindy Moore and Tina Byrd Both of Oregon; two sons: Shane Hennessey of Saxton and Randy Hennessey of Oregon; one step-Melody Uhland of Hopewell;12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren He is also survived by five sisters: Dorthea Black of Broad Top City, Delora Ross of Saxton, Vera Cupp of Camp Hill, Joyce Snyder of James Creek and Nalda Shephard of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one brother, Jack Hennessey of Mechanicsburg.He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clemette Hennessey, Donald Hennessey and Von Hennessey, and a step-son, Johnny Kline. Mr. Hennessey was a life member of the Saxton Sportsmens Association, and a member of the Saxton VFW, Broad Top City American Legion. For 43 years, he owned and operated Hennessey Market in Saxton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Internment in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton. Donald "Don" B. CARBAUGH, 60, of 303 E. Chestnut St., Lancaster, died at his residence Monday, Oct 6, 2003 Born in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Raymond B. and Effie (Sample) Carbaugh.He is survived by a son, Brian K. Carbaugh, and his wife, Zorayda, of San Diego, Calif., and one grandson. A brother, Leroy R. Carbaugh of Allenport, and two sisters, Ida M.Scott of Mount Union and Delores G. Moore, and her husband, Glenn, of Lititz, survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold E. Carbaugh, and asister, Mardella Fleck. Mr. Carbaugh had worked as bartender at Lombardo's Restaurant in Lancaster for 12 years until 1999 Prior to his work at Lombardo'worked as a steward at the American Legion in Ephrata. Naoma R (Iser) HOLMES, 68, a resident of Huntingdon Manor Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon since March, formerly of Huntingdon, RR 1, and Saxton, R.R. 1, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. She had been in failing health for past several weeks.Born Nov. 9, 1934, in Riddlesburg, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Elsie (Gordon) Iser. She was united in marriage to Kenneth S. Holmes Nov. 17, 1953, in Warren, Ohio Mr. Holmes preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1959. She was preceded in death by her companion of over 30 years, William C. Robinson Sr., Dec. 18, 1993. She is survived by seven children; Delores K. Worthing, and her husband, John, of Saxton; Terry L. Holmes, and his wife, Julie, of Milton; Duane Holmes of Middleburg; Dennis L. Holmes, and his wife Elly, of Huntingdon; Lisa D. Robinson of Hagerstown, Md.; William C. Robinson Jr., and his wife, Cindy, of Mount Union; and Paul Robinson and his wife, Lisa, of Huntingdon. She was a graduate of the Riddlesburg Area School District. She was primarily a homemakerand enjoyed sewing, reading, yard sales, talking on the telephone and spending time with her grandchildren. GEISS, 83, of James Creek, R.R. 1, Hopewell Township, Huntingdon County, formerly of Mohnton, died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, where she had resided since Aug. 5. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of the late James and Anne (Mohler) Rohm. She was united in marriage to Tyson E. Geiss, who preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1999.She is survived by a daughter, Nadine A. (Geiss) Sharman of James Creek, and one grandson. Mrs. Geiss was a member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church in Mohnton. She was employed by Bedford Memorial Hospital as a receptionist and also worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Highway Department, Bedford. She served as secretary/treasurer for Mohnton Borough from March 1966 until her retirement in July 1985.Interment will be made in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton Marion R. "Buck" RHODES, 79, State Route 103 South, McVeytown, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at his home. Born Dec. 1, 1923, in Ferguson Valley, he was the son of the late Roy G. and Belle (Kimberly) Rhodes He was united in marriage to Janet E. Keiser June 10, 1944. He is surviyed by his wife; three children; Mrs. Paul (Sara) Peachey of McVeytown, R.R., Mrs. William Ethel) MacDonald of Huntingdon and Leon R. Rhodes Sr. of McVeytown, R.R.; a nephew, Robert E. Keiser of Colorado, who was reared in Mr. Rhodes home; and two other children reared in his home, Nellie Varner of Newton Hamilton and Mrs. William (Cuma) Beers of McVey town, R.R. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother, Guy S. Rhodes McVeytown, R.R., survives. He was preceded in death bv an infant granddaughter and seven siblings; Janet Huffman, Ethel Hennaman, Lewis Rhodes, Bertha Walton; Glenn Rhodes, Robert Rhodes and Dale Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1998, and was a lifelong member of the Dairylea Milk Cooperative. He had also worked at Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, for 11 years. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana. Alton Lee "Buddy" CLARK, 50o f Greenville, N.C., died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at his home. A native of Beaufort County, N.C., he was the son of Jordan Clark and the late Fannie Mae Hardy. He and his wife, Mary Jane Roles Clark, formerly of Mount Union, were married for 24 years. He is survived by his wife, father and stepmother, Jordan and Anne (Everette) Clark of Greenville; and a daughter, Ginny Belle Clark of Greenville. He is also survived by a sister, Vonda Jo Thompson of Greenville; two brothers, Roy Mitchell Clark of Chocowinity, N.C., and Harvey Charles Clark of Greenville two stepsisters, Rita Ann Hennan Burlington, N.C., and Janet Lynne Hall of Greenville; two stepbrothers, Michael Scott Holder of Sanford, N.C., and Paul Matthew Holder of Greenville and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Clark attended Life Gate Baptist Church. He was employed with the ECU Department of Surgery for a number of years. He was a longtime resident of the Hudson's Crossroads community of Pitt County, N.C. Internment Clark Family Cemetery William Christopher HESS, 30, of HCR, Cassville, died at 6:41 p.m Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Edenton, N.C. Born Nov. 13, 1972, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Billy L. Hess who resides in Cassville and Connie (Chilcote) Friberg who resides in the state of Washington. He is survived by one brother and three sisters; Ruth Ann Snair of Orbisonia; Leonard Hess of Mifflintown; Sherri Hines, who resides in the state of Washington; and Betsy Chilcote who resides in Florida. He is also survived by his stepmother, Bonnie L. (McGraw) Hess of Brisbin and seven nephews and six nieces. Mr. Hess was a member of the Saxton Sportsmen's Club, Saxton. He graduated from Tussey Mountain High School with the Class of 1992. From 1992 until 1999, he served in the National Guard. He was currently employed by PennLine Service Inc., Scottdale, for the past nine years. He was an avid gun collector and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Broad Top American Legion and the Broad Top Eagles. Internment in the Trough Creek Cemetery Ann Dinardi, 97, of Morgantown, WV, died Friday, Oct. 10, at her home. Born Sept. 8, 1906, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of late Demetrio and Victoria (Sarra) Dinardi. She is survived by two brothers, Morris Dinardi and his wife, Sara of Mount Union, and Sylvester Dinardi and his wife, Virginia, Morgantown; sister-in-Iaw, Jossephine Dinardi and a brother-in-law, Joseph Bartling, both of Morgantown, survive along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters; Julia Chico, Albina Mary Bartling, Erlinda Dinardi, Elizabeth Dinardi, Mary Dinardi and Frederica Dinardi, and by three brothers, Demetrio "Tony" Dinardi, Johnny Dinardi and Carmel Dinardi. Ms. Dinardi was a member of the St. Theresa/St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Morgantown. She was a 1931 graduate of West Virginia University School ofPharmacy. She was actIve m many organIzations and had received many awards relating to her phannacy career throughout the years.She was named Woman of the Year by Italian Heritage in Clarksburg, WV. Mrs. Dinardi served as a house mother for fraternities at West Virginia University and cared for many athletes who attended the university during her lifetime. Intennent in Lawnwood Cemetery, Morgantown. Hugh MULL, 79, of HCR 1, Robertsdale, died at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon. Born March 25, 1924, in Coles Valley, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Roy and Ruth (Elias) Mull. He was united in marriage to Loretta Marie Theresa Yealy Nov. 15, 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife March 29, 1992. He is survived by one son, John Kiser Sr. of Spring Grove; three daughters; Master Sergeant Louise L. Sears, D.C. Air National Guard, Morningside, Md.; Sergeant Helen E. Mull, U.S. Army, Jacksonville, NC; and Carol A. Dean, Wheaton Ill., and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three infant sons and a sister, Genieve Burns. Mr. Mull was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Waterfall. He was a life member of the American Legion. Mr. Mull was a 1939 graduate of Robertsdale High Schooland a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany. "Kitty" YANTZ, 92, of Huntingdon, formerly of Mount Union, who had most recently resided with her daughter, Patricia R. Barchuk, and son-in-law, John, in Mechanicsburg, entered into eternal rest peacefully Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Messiah Village Retirement Center, Mechanicsburg. She was born May 19, 1911 in Vineyard, Mifflin County, the daughter of the late John and Sophia (Szczerba) Szczerba. She was united in marriage to Michael Yantz Sept. 16, 1934, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 23, 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia R. Barchuk, and her husband, John; three grandchildren, Michael R. Barchuk, Michele Tiday and Lisa Tiday; and four greatgrandchildren, Lily and Savanna Tiday and Christian and Mason Tiday, all of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Mary Panasiti, Tyrone; Stella Bodnar, Mount Union; Julia Turiano, Altoona "Babe" Los Olivio, Frances Remek and John Szczerba . She was proceded in death by a a brother, Frank Szczerba, a sister Sophia Szczerba, a nephew, Louis Jr., and a niece, Pattie Murphy. Mrs. Yantz was a member of Saint Catherine's Catholic Church, Mount Union. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. She and her husband were longtime owners of Yantz Steakhouse in Mount Union, which she continued to operate after her husband's death, until she retired in 1998. She was dearly loved by those whose lives she touched and will live in hearts and memories. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon Edna S. GOODMAN, 90, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, formerly of Newton Hamilton, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at the nursing home. Born Oct. 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Mary Campbell. She was united in marriage to Paul C. Goodman June 1931, in Petersburg. Mr. Goodman preceded her in death April 4, 1983 She is survived by a son, Richard B. Goodman, and his wife Sandra, of Newton Hamilton; a granddaughter, Rhonda Kelly and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Querry. Mrs. Goodman was a member of Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Mount Union Area High School. Mrs. Goodman retired in 1973 from L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing Mount Union, where she was employed for over 40 years. Interment in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Ammon H. SHAUB, 76, of Owl Hill Road, Lititz, formerly of Three Springs and Thousand Oaks, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Samuel S. and Nora Mae (Hursh) Shaub and was united in marriage to Dorothy V. Booher. He is survived by his wife of 44 years; three sons, A. Dale Shaub and Larry G. Shaub, both of Lancaster; Donald R. Shaub and his wife, Coleen, of Ephrata; one stepson, Clair O. Slates, and his wife, Audrey, of Three Springs; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, Walter Shaub of Myerstown and Sam H. Shaub of Portland, and five sisters; Miriam Poole, and her husband, Bruce, of Zephrhills, FL; Mabel Yoder, and her husband, Eddie, of Silver Springs, Fla.; Nora Mae Kilheffer and her husband, Harold M., of Lancaster; Ada Bender and her husband, J. Warren, of Lancaster and Arlene Giberson and her husband Robert, of Willow Street. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Irene King, Anna Mary Smith, Lizzie Shaub and Charlotte Deck. Mr. Shaub was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Rothsville. He worked at Trojan Boat Co. in Lancaster and for Shasta Industries, making motor homes and travel-trailers. While employed with Shasta, he worked all over the United States and retired in 1979 as a plant manager with 17 years of service. Interment in Millinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. Regina Anna (Shreckengast) WATERMAN, 90, of 360 Westminster Drive, Westminster Woods Huntingdon, formerly of Huntingdon RR 1, and 510 Church St., Huntingdon, died at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Mrs. Waterman had been in declining health. Born Feb. 22, 1913, in Logan Mills, Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late Newton E. and Lola Agnes (Messmer) Shreckengast. She was united in marriage to J. Clyde Waterman May 21, 1932, by the Rev. William Herr at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Lock Haven. Mr. Waterman preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1981. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann (Waterman) Bomboy, and her husband, Nevin, of Huntingdon, RR 1; three grandchildren; Jeff Bomboy, and his wife, Tammy, of Lancaster, Amy Bomboy of Huntingdon and Craig Bomboy of Rockledge, Fla and three great-granddaughters, Abbie Sheffield, Andrea Sheffield, both of Huntingdon, and Kelsey Bomboy of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a son, Clyde William Waterman; four brothers; Henry, Lester, Charles and Roy Shreckengast; and one sister, Viola Mae Shreckengast. Mrs. Waterman was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Lock Haven, and for over 20 years attended Abbey Reformed United United Church of Christ, Huntingdon. She was a member of the former Triangle Homemakers group in Huntingdon. She was also a volunteer with the Huntingdon Meals on Wheels program for eight years and a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 100, Lock Haven. Mrs. Waterman attended Clinton County public schools. During World War II, she was employed by the Clinton Paper Co. Subsequently, she was employed for 12 years as a cook at the Moose Lodge in Lock Haven, the Woolrich-Woolen Mills and retired in 1988 as a self-employed seamstress in both Lock Haven and Huntingdon. Mrs. Waterman enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, attending Lock Haven church, traveling and spending time with her family. Interment in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Jack W. BAIR Sr., 74, of Schoolhouse Lane, Huntingdon, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at his home. Born April 6, 1929, in Mill Creek, he was the son of .the late George Wilbur and Minnie Cathryn (Sheets) Bair. He was united in marriage to Sandra Elizabeth Briggs June 15, 1985, at the Mill Creek Bible Fellowship Church, Fousetown by brother-in-law Pastor Jack Lancaster. He is survived by his wife at home; two sons and two daughters; Jack W. Bair Jr., and his wife, Linda of Alexandria; Bonnie F. Terry of Huntingdon; Mrs. Jeffrey (Cathy L.) Scherden of Altoona; and James W. Bair, and his wife, Kelly, of Lewistown; two stepsons; Joseph M. Crownover and Joshua M. Crownover, both of Huntingdon; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters; Jean A. Park and Mrs. Jack (Sandra K.) Lancaster, both of Mill Creek. Mr. Bair was a past governor and life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon; a member of Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; a member of the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntingdon; Huntingdon Area High School Band Boosters. He was a former member of Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Fire Co., where he did mechanical work on the fire equipment for a number of years. He was also a volunteer with Huntingdon County PRIDE and volunteered as a Little League coach. Mr. Bair served in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the United States Navy from Sept. 9, 1948 to May 3, 1950. He was aboard both the USS Juneau and the USS Kent and was awarded the Navy Occupation Medal (Japan). He also served May 3,1950, to 1954, with the U.S.Navy Reserve. On Nov. 12, 1949, Mr. Bair was on board the USS Juneau as it crossed the Arctic Cirde to enter the Northern Domain of the polar bear, thus conferring upon him membership in the Royal Order of "Blue Nose." Mr. Bair attended Huntingdon public schools. He had received special training from the following companies: General Motors, Ford Motor Co., Detroit-Allison, Caterpillar Diesel and Cummins Diesel. In his early years, he had been employed by Martin H. Heine Buick-Cadilac and Heine Petroleum Inc. He had also worked for Westover Ford and was an auto mechanic instructor at the Huntingdon County Vocational Technical School. In 1995, he retired as shop foreman from U.S. Municipal Supply Co. Mr. Bair was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking and was an avid NASCAR fan. Along with his wife, he recently fulfilled one of his final wishes, to see the Atlantic Ocean, by taking a trip to Ocean City, Md. Interment in Riverview Cemetery full military honors will be accorded. Romie William PURDY, 88, of Burnham, died Sunday, Sept. 28, at his residence. Born June 25, 1915, in Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Romie J. and Hazel (Park) Purdy. His wife, Bessie E. (pannebaker) Purdy, preceded him in death Oct. 15, 2002. He is survived by a son, R. Jack Purdy, Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Ruth) Neff of Wilmmgton, N.C.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Purdy, and a grandson Mr. Purdy was a Christian and an active member of Calvary Bible for 38 years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He lived in Huntingdon until 1960, when he moved to Burnham and operated a barber shop on Fourth Avenue until his retirement. He was a well-known artist in central Pennsylvania and received many honors for his painting, including a oneman show at Penn State University in 1993. He was also commissioned by Mifflin County to do a painting of the old Mifflin County Courthouse, which hangs in the lobby of the new courthouse. He had an enthusiastic love of art and painting and also for other artists' work. He enjoyed teaching painting and looked forward to his weekly group of students Mr. Purdy also enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and sailing. Interment will be made m Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery. Jean L. "Jeannie" SWINDELL 58, of 287 Back Ridge Road, Needmore, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at her residence. Born Aug. 7, 1945, in Harrisonville, Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Ira "Buck" and Clara E. (Daniels) Mellott. She was united in marriage to John R. Swindell Sr. Dec. 1, 1971. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Iva L. Swindell of Needmore; a son, John R. Swindell Jr. of Breezewood; a stepson, Dale W. Born April 13, 1906 in Alexandria he was the son of the late Frank F. and Ida M. (Altman) Fouse. He was united in marriage to Butis G. Gibson June 22, 1935 in Westminster, MD. She proceeded him in death Nov. 14, 1992. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Fanny Lee) Noland of Brockway and Mrs. Carey (Faye Louise) Smyers of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren: 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand daughter. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School and worked at the brick plant in Alexandria for 30 years, followed by 17 years at the J.B. Kunz Co. in Huntingdon as an offset printer. A native of Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Myron J. and Lorna Belle (Whited) Fyock. He is survived by his wife, La Vonda Fyock; four children and their spouses: Virginia Ann and Sam Seaman of New Port Richey, Fla.; Richard Keith and Mary Anna Fyock and Brenda Lee and Craig Kellogg, all of Colbert, Ga., and Erin Dell and Jason Lackey of Hull, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. Born Aug. 6, 1930, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Virginia E. (Bloom) Dippery. She was united in marriage to Robert R. Weir Sept. 10, 1949, in State College. Mr. Weir preceded her in death April 5, 1998. She is survived by one daughter, Patti L. (Weir) Miller, and her husband, John, of Williamsburg; and two sons, Robert M. Weir, and his wife, Jennifer (Wright), of James Creek, and Rodger G. Weir of Cockeysville, Md. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Stefanie L. Leroy RIDEN Jr. of Alabama died Sept. 22, 2003. He was born in Lewistown, but ha resided in the Huntsville, Ala area since 1987. He is survived by his wife, Linda T. Riden, at home, a daughter, Michelle Wilson of Charlotte, N.C., a stepdaughter, Brianna Brown of Lacey's Spring, Ala., two sons, Michael Riden of Charlotte, N.C. and Glen L. Riden III of Ardmore, Ala., and five grandchildren. Mr. Riden was a member of Ascenson Luthern Church. He graduated form Huntingdon High School in the class of 1956. He begun his military career with the United States Army November 1956 and was accepted into the Officers Corps in February 1967. From October 1969 until April 1970, he served as captain in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division. In 1972, he graduated with honors from the University of Texas-ElPaso where he earned a bachelors degree. In June 1974 he graduated from U. S. Command and General Staff College. Mr. Riden was a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, three Bronze services medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Riden spent most of his military career at the Air Force Defense School, Fort Bliss, Texas, as in air defense officer and an instructor with Hawk, Hercules and Chaparral Vulcan missile systems. In April 1977, he was transferred to the Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, VA where he served until his retirement as major in May, 1978. After a brief seperation, he returned to TRADOC as a federal employee. He served there as a training special 1st until he transferred to the Hellfire Project office, MICOM, September 1987. Born April 15, 1937, in Seven Valleys, he was the son of the late Chauncey L. and Beulah E. (Albright) Rosenzweig. He is survived by a daughter, Vonny M. Peterson of Liverpool; a son, Glenn L. Rosenzweig of York; and a granddaughter, Brittany N. Peterson. Mr Rosenzweig was a member of Viking AA Club of York; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Columbia; and the Petersburg Fire Co. Hazel (Martin) NEFF, 91, of Brethren Village, Lititz, died the evening of Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her residence. Sue Ann Botteicher Philipsburg High school class of 1951 Sue Ann Botteicher, 70, of the Pennsylvania House, 2 W. 11th St., Tyrone, died Wednesday, Oct., 15, 2003, at her residence. She was born Apiril 12, 1933, in Philipsburg, a daughter of Patrick and Juliette (Reed) Dugan. On Aug. 25, 1950, in Cumberland, Md., she married Dallas W. Botteicher. He preceded her death in June 5, 1995. Surviving are three daughters, Merilyn Dively of Alexandria, Michele Botteicher of Tyrone, Kim Yocum of Clearfield, and three sons, Dallas W. "GENE" BAKER Air Force veteran; retired furniture store manager Eugene A. 'Gene' Baker 84 of Warrior Oales died Oct. 21, in Huntingdon. Born May 5, 1919 in Hastings, he was the of the late Amandus F. and Gertrude (Fuller) Baker. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann Charney Nov. 2, 1940 , in Barnesboro. Mrs Baker preceded him in death Oct. 17, 1989. He is survived by one son, Robert E. Baker and his wife,Pam(Hudson,of Ashland,Ohio; and one daughter,Barbara A. (Baker) Stryker, and her husband, Chet, of Huntingdon. He is also survived by four sisters and one brother; Mary Louise Dietrich of Cleveland Ohio; LaVaughn Hennepeck of Rosenburg, Ore., Gladys Ferrence of Cleveland, Ohio; Donna Sadowski of Tucson, Ariz., and John baker of Indiana, PA. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Baker, and one sister, Bernice Gallo. Mr Baker was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24 American Legion, Huntingdon. He attended Hastings public schools and graduated from Hastings High School with the Class of 1937. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theatre of Operations and attained the rank of corporal. While employed by the Wolf Furniture Co., Mr. Baker attended numerous business seminars throughout the Uni ted States., including the University of Notre Dame, Northwestern University and Penn State University.From 1947 until his retirement in 1981, he was employed for over 34 years by the Wolf Furniture Co. ,managing the Huntingdon store from 1959 until 1973. He was subsequently transferred to the Altoona, Dubois and Clearfield stores. Following his retirement from Wolf Furniture, he worked for four years, on a part-time basis, for the J.C. Penney Co. in Dubois. In February 1995, he accepted employment wi th the Konica Quali ty Photo Co. Mr Baker was an avid Bass and trout fisherm n and enj oyed shooting pool in the Huntingdon County Pool League since 1990. He also enj oyed gaming trips to Charlestown, W. Va., and Atlantic City N.J. . An avid traveler, he and his family visited all 50 states, South America and Europe.He was particularly interested in his family, his home and home improvement projects. MAX EDGAR BRENNEMAN 46 years with Owens-Corning and Predecessor Max Edgar Brenneman, 96, a resident of Meadowview Manor, Mcveytown died Oct,16, 2003 at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Nov. 15, 1906 in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Harry B. and Effie Mae (Stouffer) Brenneman. He was united in marriage to Marian Rebecca Brown May 17, 1930, in Bellefoonte, by the Rev. Gaste. Mrs Brenneman preceded him in death Aug. 13, 1993.He is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Brenneman) Grubb and her husband, Eugene, of Huntingdon; six grandchildren; Deborah (Grubb) Gibboney, Amy (Grubb) Musser, Max E. Grubb, and his wife, Sandra, Kristen Andersen and Matthew Andersen; eight reat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Owens-Corning Fiberglas Retiree Association and was a founder and former director of the Owens-Corning Fiberglas Federal Credi t Union. Mr. Brenneman attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the class of 1924. He was employed for over 46 years by the Susquehanna Silk Mills and is successor, Owens-Corning Fiberglas. He retired in 1971 from OCF' s production accounting, cost controls and budget department. Earl Hess 75, of Huntingdon, Walker Township died at J"C... Blair Memorial Hospital,Huntingdon, Born April 17, 1928, in Huntingdon he was the son of the late Samuel B. and Dora A. (Garner) Hes s. He is survived by three brothers and one sister; Paul R. Hess of CampHi 11, L. Dorine Abbott of Port Richey, Fla., and Dale E. Hess and Dean W. Hess and Dean W. Hess, both of McConnellstown. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mr. Hess was a members of Trini ty United Church of Christ, McConnellstown. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wellsboro; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon; Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Huntingdon, BPO Elks Lodge No. 976 Huntingdon, Bald Hill Bear Camp, Hagerstown, MD; and the NAtional Rifle Association. Mr. Hess attended Huntingdon High School and left school in the 10th grade to join the United States Navy during World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy May 16, 1945, in Pittsburgh and served until Feb. 10, 1947, when he was discharged at San Francisco, Calif. He enlisted again Feb. 11, 1947, and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve until Nov. 7, 1954, with District Staff Headquarters 4ND,. Mr. Hess had a number of jobs over the years. Following his two tours with the U. S. Navy, he went to work for General Electric in Erie as a refrigerator trim assembler. He later worked for Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation, Hagerstown. MD. He was fireman for a number of years at Sun Oil Co., Marcus Hook, were he handled the transfer of crude oil. He later owned and operated Highway Texaco in Alexandria, the predecessor to Valley Car Care. After selling his service station, he worked for John Dysard's Garage for a number of years and mowed grass for a private contractor at Raystown Lake. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, except for periods when his employment took him out of the area. He was an avid hunter and enj oyed old cars. He was a great supporter of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. Private internment in McConnellstown. CH HELEN (Balmer) ULRICH Helen (Balmer) Ulrich, 94, of Palmyra, passed away Oct. 18, 2003,at Frye Village in Middletown where she was a resident. She was born April 19, 1909, in Palmyra,the daughter of the late David P. and Mary Jane (Goodman)Balmer. She was united in marriage to Foster G. Ulrich Aug. 17, 1929. Her husband of 58 years proceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by three sons; Foster G. Ulrich Jr., his wife Lois, of Huntingdon; John F. Ulrich, and his wife, Bonnie, of Harrisburg; and Dr. Thomas A. Ulrich, and his wife, Gloria, of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been proceded in death by three brothers, David R. Balmer, Cyrus G. Balmer and Harold H. Balmer, and one sister, Dorothy (Balmer)Reigle. Mrs. Ulrich was a member of Trini ty United Church of Christ, Palmyra, where she had been a Sunday School teacher, president of the women's Guild and a member of the Church Renewal Group. She was also a teacher for the time release Christian Education program, a Cub Scout Den mother and one of the early leaders in Girl Scouts U.S.A. A past-president of the Women's Club of Palmyra, Mrs. Ulrich also served as a chairwoman of the Palmyra Friends of the Public Library and chair of Palmyra's ini tial house tour. She had also been a committeewoman for the Republican party of Lebanon County and a member of the Palmyra Garden Club. In 1958, she was honored by the Palmyra Rotary Club as "Woman of the Year". For many years, she was a buyer and department manager for the former Hershey Department Store from which she retired in 1971. William Victor MORNINGSTAR, 49, of 2805 Montwood Lane, Bremerton, Wash., and formerly of Hummelstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at his home. He was the son of Robert L. Morningstar of James Creek and the late Bonita M. (Givens) Morningstar. In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother, Scott R. Morningstar, husband of Sherry L. Morningstar of Omak, Wash.; a sister, Bonny L., wife of Joel P. Guzzo of Middletown; maternal grandmother, Mary M. Givens of Middletown; nieces Christianna M., wife of Clement Walker of Hummelstown; Jennifer R. Guzzo of Middletown; Rebecca J. Guzzo of Tempe, Ariz.; Tara E., wife of Robert Gipson of Fayettville, NC; Brooke R. Morningstar of Omak; and a nephew, Virgil S. Morningstar of Jackson Hole, Wyo.. Great-niece Chloe Gipson of Fayettville, N.C., also survives. Mr. Morningstar attended Hillcrest Assembly of God Church, in Bremerton. He was a graduate of Hershey High School, Hershey, and the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill. Mr. Morningstar was a federal government employee for almost 25 years, beginning his career at the Fleet Material Support Office in Mechanicsburg and then transferring to Bremerton where he was a supervisory information technology specialist for the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including being named National Outstanding Handicapped Federal Employee of 1981 and finalist in the Outstanding Department of the Navy Employee with Disabilities Program in 1995 and 1998. Victor, as he was known to his family and many friends, enjoyed hunting, working with computers and being in the outdoors. Funeral services will he held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 260 E. Main St., Middletown, with the Rev. Buddy Baird officiating. Anna Lucille (Bridgett) BELLANTE, 81, a resident of the Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, since July 2003, and formerly of Meadowview Manor, McVeytown, and Huntingdon, died at 6:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at the Oaks. She had been in failing health. Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Francis D. and Mary W. (Parker) Bridgett. She was united in marriage to Michael Charles Bellante Oct. 30, 1938, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Cain. Mr. Bellante preceded her in death Dec. 16. 1974. Mrs. Bellante was one of 13 children. Her siblings are as follows; Daniel Bridgett of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Donnie Bridgett, George Bridgett; Louise (Bridgett) Shemhel; Elsie Bridgett; Adela (Bridgett) Avery; Dorothy (Bridgett) Baynes; Frances (Bridgett) Bellante; Fannie (Bridgett) Bellante; Myrtle Bridgett; and Thadeus Bridgett, who preceded in death in his infancy. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bellante was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She was a former member of the Auxiliary to the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24 American Legion, Huntingdon. Along with her husband, she co-owned and operated Micky's Bar and Texas Lunch on Washington St. in Huntingdon, and later operated the East End Pizza Shop. also on Washington St., Huntingdon. She enjoyed exotic birds and cats. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David J. Arseneault officiating. Interment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, 245 Standing Stone Avenue, Huntingdon. Edna M. POWELL, 83, formerly of Hesston, R.R. 1, and a resident of the Shirley Home in Shirleysburg since 1985, died at 8:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Saltillo, she was the daughter of John F. and Golda P (Hamman) Powell. She is survived by three sisters; Marie P. Hetrick of Alexandria, R.R. 1; Estle C. Powell, of Huntingdon, R.R.3; and Faye D. Baker of Hesston, R.R.3. She was preceded in death by one sister, Beatrice Powell. Ms. Powell was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in McConnellstown. She enjoyed embroidery. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon with the Rev. Ray L. Earlston officiating. Interment will be made in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek. R.R.l. Norman RAMPER, 79, of HCR 1, Robertsdale, died at 7:35 am. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at his home in Todd Township. Born Dec. 11, 1923, in Todd Township, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Salata) Ramper. He was married to the former Norma M. McKnight Aug. 15, 1949 at Todd. Mrs. Ramper survives at their home. Also surviving are a son, Norman E. Johnson of Newton Falls, Ohio, three grandchildren and five great-grandsons. The following were reared for a time in the Ramper home and also survive; Robert Crotsley of Shirleysburg, Norman Crotsley and Brian Crotsley, both of McConnellstown, and Stacie Crotsley of Petersburg. Also surviving are two sisters, Ethel Didyk of Rohertsdale and Mary Shade of Hesston. Six brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Ramper was a member of the Cooks United Methodist Church, R.R. Robertsdale. He was also a member of Watson-Black Post 126 American Legion in Broad Top. Mr. Ramper retired in 1973 from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg after 23 years service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Trough Creek United Methodist Church in Todd with Dr. Theodore F. Kiffer officiating.
