She suffered a stroke on Wednesday, April 19, and had been a patient in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the John B. Brown Funeral Service of Huntingdon. A complete obituary will appear in The Daily News on Thursday. The Daily News, Huntingdon and Mount Union, Pa., April 26, 1978 HELEN R. OLIVO Mrs. Helen R. Olivo, 66, of 418 Washington St., Huntingdon, died at 10:10 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 26, 1978, in J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, where she had been a patient since April 19. She had been in failing health for a week. Born April 17, 1912, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Shafer. She married Patrick Olivo on Jan. 15, 1932, at Lewistown. Surviving are her husband and three children: James E. Shafer, Vredenburg, Ala.; Debs Olivo, Pittsburgh; and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Dunmire, Whitaker. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and a brother, Francis Shafer of Altoona. A son, Richard C. Olivo, and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Olivo was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers of Huntingdon and the auxiliaries to Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24 and VFW Standing Stone Post No. 1754, both of Huntingdon. She was employed as a sales clerk at the Vogue Shop in Huntingdon for many years. At the time of her death, she served on the election board for Huntingdon's Second Ward, a position she had held for a number of years. Mrs. Olivo was educated in the Huntingdon public schools, graduating from Huntingdon High School in 1930. Her entire life was spent in Huntingdon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, from the St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. The Rev. Harry E. Smyser will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends may call at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, after 3 p.m. Friday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. They may also call at the church from noon Saturday until the hour of the service. Joint memorial services by the Gold Star Mothers and the auxiliaries to the VFW and American Legion posts will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.
