Mrs. Mary M. Orner died at her late home at McAlevys Fort, on Thursday afternoon, July 19th, at 3 o’clock. Death came after a long illness. Mrs. Orner’s maiden name was Mary Margaret Moffatt, oldest daughter of James and Elizabeth (Watson) Moffatt, both deceased. She was born at Monroe Furnace, Pa., December 23, 1857, hence was aged at the time of death 76 years, 6 months and 27 days. She was twice married, first to George Wesley Houtz, son of Moses and Matilda (Shugarts) Houtz, who died at McAlevys Fort on July 19, 1898. Eight children were born to this union. Her second marriage was to William Orner; he died in 1910. No children born to this union. She was a consistent member of the Lutheran church at McAlevys Fort. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, namely, Larry Houtz, of Charter Oak; Paul Houtz, of McAlevys Fort; Mrs. Ruth Bagshaw, of Huntingdon, and Mrs. Gertrude Gibboney, of R. D. Huntingdon. Also surviving are twenty-seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. James Keller, of Charter Oak. Private funeral services will be held from the late residence on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. H. Stong. Interment in the Lutherans cemetery at McAlevys Fort.
