All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm __________________________________________________________ JOSEPH PALMER, An aged and respected citizen died at his home in Long Hollow Friday night [28 Feb 1908] after an illness of ten days from pneumonia, aged about 77 years. Mr. Palmer was a native of Fulton county where he for many years resided. About ten years ago he with his family became residents of Huntingdon county residing in Shirley township and later moved to Mifflin county. Deceased had a few months ago decided to retire from farming and had bills up announcing public sale of his personal property on March 11th. He and his sons at home a few weeks ago purchased the Yaple property just over the river from town where the family expected to reside after April 1st. The deceased is survived by his aged widow [Susan/Susannah Slusher] and ten children named: J. G. Palmer of Fairfield, Ill.; Mrs. Harry Spangler [Amanda L.] of Wells Tannery, Pa.; Mrs. Sarah Sharp of Tyrone; S. B. [S. Bennett] Palmer of Alliance, Neb.; O. L. [Lewis O.] Palmer and H. H. [Howard] Palmer of Hiawatha, Kansas; Mrs. C. R. [Charles Rolland] Stunkard [Louise] of Westmoreland county, Pa.; Edward, John and L. V. [Lorenzo V.] Palmer at home. Joseph Palmer for many years had been a member of the Baptist church and was a good conscientious Christian gentleman. Funeral services were held at the Palmer home in Long Hollow at ten o'clock a.m. Monday, conducted by Rev. H. K. Bower Baptist minister of his place. Interment in the I. O.O.F. cemetery [Mt. Union]. Susan/Susannah Slusher Palmer was born 27 Dec 1831 in Ohio, died 14 Jan 1914. C. R. (Charles R.) Stunkard married Louise Palmer, daughter of Joseph & Susan Palmer. Charles R. Stunkard was the brother of my great grandmother, Cary Alice Stunkard Palmer.
