PARSONS Mrs. Rosie Virginia Parsons of Blairs Mils, R.D., died Friday, May 19, 1961, at 5:15 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Peterson of Blairs Mills, R.D. She had been in failing health for the past year. She was born July 18, 1875, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of Henry and Matilda (Briggs) Flood. She was married to Ellsworth L. Parsons of Tell Township at the Shade Gap parsonage on July 13, 1896, with the Rev. A. C. Ford officiating. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1930. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Hazel) Peterson, and one son, Lester E. Parsons, both of Blairs Mills, R.D. One daughter preceded her in infancy. There are 17 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She was of a family of 11 children and is survived by two brothers, Loy G. Flood of Fannettsburg and Chalmer Flood of Blairs Mills. She joined the Salem EUB Church when she was 11 years old and taught a Sunday School class in the church for 60 years and was faithful in her attendance as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and a trustee of the church for many years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, at 2 p.m. from the Salem EUB Church. The Rev. Robert E. Shaffer of the EUB charge of Shade Gap will officiate. Interment will be made in the Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ott funeral home in Orbisonia from 7 p.m. Saturday evening until noon on Monday and then at the church until the time for the services. clipping Additional Comments: Obituary says Rosie's date of marriage was July 13th, but according to family members, the date was July 30th.
